Anyway, I hope you all enjoy chapter 2!
Chapter 2: First Encounter
"Bye Mom and Dad! Bye Bo!''
"Good luck out there sweetie!''
Jazu runs out of the door with blazing speed. She had overslept and had about 10 minutes to spare to make it to the bus stop. With lightning striking every time she made a step, she bolts around every corner and across every street until she makes it to a sign with a little bus on it and a wooden bench to sit on.
Jazu huffed and puffed, eagerly taking a seat on the bench to catch her breath.
"Y'know, the bus driver always comes about five minutes late, so don't stress about oversleeping or being late."
Jazus' head turns to her right to see a spirit standing on the other side of the bench. She didn't even see him, he must have just there too then. The spirit was looking straight forward, not even giving her any eye contact.
The spirit next to her was standing on his hind legs. He is lean and tall, showing physical features of a dog, large, circular ears pointing up, a long snout, and a long, skinny tail that had a bit of extra fur on the end of it. The short fur on his body was a plethora of brown tones spotted all over his body in random patterns. The dog-man spirit only wore an opened yellow hoodie and gray drawstring shorts that cut at his knees.
" Oh…" Jazu says, still catching her breath, " That's good to know, thanks."
"Your welcome," He then turns toward her, she sees warm brown eyes giving her a curious look," I'm Zutari by the way."
"Jazu Kong," she says, stretching her hand out, offering a handshake. Zutari takes it, giving her a friendly welcome.
" You're the new student, right? Where are you from? "
" I'm from Ba Sing Se. And you go to school too? I didn't even realize spirits went to human schools, at least not in Ba Sing Se."
"Yeah… It's still new around here, the mayor of Republic City asked if any spirits wanted a new form of education, some said yes and some said no. So far, I have a lot of fun learning about the human world plus its history and sciences, but it's exhausting taking a physical form most of the day and most of the other students find me...annoying."
"Really? "
He takes a seat next to her, making Jazu realize what she was in for.
Zutari started talking. And then he continued talking. He had no filter, rambling on about the numerous amount of students and their gossip, stuff she didn't even want to unfold. Eventually, the bus did make it to the stop and Zutari paused his rambling until five after the bus started to head to the school.
She hasn't even stepped foot into school and Jazu was already tired of it.
Minutes rolled by as the bus crept towards its destination. Jazu's anxiety began to spike as the ride there seemed to be getting longer and longer. She just wants to get the two weeks over and done with, without getting on anyone's bad side, because as her mother states, not everyone likes blatant honesty. That is probably one of the things Jazu struggles with most, sugarcoating to people when she needs to.
Jazu peers over to the spirit next to her, still rambling on about the students and teachers of the school. Jazu felt at ease as she sees Zutari eyes have a spark in them, something she has never seen in a spirit that has interacted with her.
"Oh yeah! Then there is Ms. Cho, she has a massive ego along with the reek of hairspray and is a hugggge bi-''
Jazu chuckled, even if the interaction is spilling tea, she is glad to have met Zutari.
The bus then came to a dead stop. Zutari and Jazu see the bus doors swing open as the bus driver grumbled to them to get off.
"Thank you, sir!" Zutari says as he hops off the bus with Jazu following behind him, the bus stopping at the front gate of the school. " Y'know I have that guy drive me for years to school, never seen him smile.''
"Really?''
"Yeah, maybe he hates his job or kids."
"Maybe."
The pair both stood at the left corner of the school itself was very beautiful, while the building itself was old, the school stood high above them, with pale marble columns looming over the door and clear glass window stretching vertically, letting the sunlight seep through.
Many students gathered in the courtyard, talking amongst themselves, some gathering in the shade that the tree provided in the grassy areas on the sides of the path leading to the school or groups gathering right in the middle of the walkway.
"Ya ready?" Zutari asks Jazu, a little nervous for her himself.
Jazu takes a deep breath, readying herself.
" Let's go."
Both walked side by side as they enter Avatar Ruko Academy, both thinking it would just be an average day.
That is the end of chapter 2! I hope you all enjoyed it!
Now to the factbook!
Jazu: Compared to her social parents, Jazu is quiet. Not in as in shy but she finds herself uninteresting.
Zutari: His character design is based on the African Wild Dog species of our world. I thought it interesting design choice seeing as if there would be an official 3rd or 4th avatar series, you would see the more spirits, I wanted his design to make him stand out of the background.
I hope you all have a wonderful day or night where ever you are in the world! See you soon!
Calico Out~
