I will be trying to update this story as much as possible. I do have a clear vision for where I want this journey to go. It just may take some time to get there. Enjoy :)
Cave located about halfway to Tondisi
Clarke had not been able to go back to sleep after she had awoke from her nightmare. All she could think about anytime she closed her eyes was the faces of the 300 warriors she burnt alive and the mountain men she irritated. They would speak to her and say that everything was her fault and their blood was on her hands. She would try to defend herself to the ghosts of these people but every time she tried to speak it felt like she was suffocating against the weight of her actions. This particular nightmare had startled her the most. She was in the mountain about to pull the lever when Lexa had shown up on one of the monitors being held captive by Cage with all of her people. Seeing Lexa there had made her hesitate. She was inches away from pulling the lever when she had been pulled into the room with everyone else. Cages' voice came over the radio and said, "Clarke, the grounders of this land have a saying the use when someone wrongs them. Does Jus drein jus daun mean anything to you Clarke?" How did Cage know about this saying and how is he able to speak Trigedasleng? He has not stepped outside of the mountain to be able to know about this. "Why is she here Cage?" Clarke tried to keep her voice as steady as possible. She didn't dare give Cage the satisfaction of knowing that this made her nervous and irrational. "You really think that my scouts didn't notice how much time you two had been spending together outside of your two camps." Cage said looking at the camera with the smuggest smirk anyone can have. "Why don't you tell everyone here why you really had been pushing for an alliance with The Commander." Clarke was trying to speak but was not able to. "Fine Clarke if you don't want to tell them I'll just show them." Cage said while ordering one of his men to pull Kane and Abby off the wall. He pulled out some pictures from a drawer in the desk close to him. She could see the flash of betrayal on their faces. "Since you can't see these very well Clarke I'll just explain what they are. What they are looking at is pictures of you and the Commander in a very heated embrace and lip lock. All of these are from the last two weeks. How are you going to explain this to them? How are you going to justify anything to them now?" Clarke knew that this was a dream because Lexa had gotten away but it still felt so real. What if Lexa had doubled back to help her and she got caught? Her thoughts were interrupted by Cage. "Back to my original question Clarke. I know you know what is about to happen but I am going to give you an option just like I gave the Commander. All you have to do is walk away and leave the Commander here with me and you and your people will be free. I will not come after them again. If you do not walk away now I will put a bullet in The Commander just as you did my father." Cage said with so much anger Clarke could feel it radiating off of him. "Do not even think about pulling that lever Clarke. You know as well as I do that I have done the bone marrow transplant already. You know irradiating level 5 will not affect me." Shit is all Clarke could come up with to say in her head. Did she dare offer a counter offer that would ensure that all her people would die just to save the one person she had come to love? "I am running out of patience, Clarke" Cage came over the radio as he pulled the hammer back on the gun. Clarke was trying to form an answer but it was like she was suffocating again. She couldn't talk or breathe. Cage had done the one thing she was deathly afraid of and she couldn't even talk to offer anything for her safety. "You time is up Clarke. The next thing she heard was the fire of the gun and the screams of all her people. And she woke up from the dream trying to figure out where she was. This kept playing over and over so much that she hadn't even noticed when Lincoln and Octavia had woken up and started to get around. When she felt a hand on her shoulder she immediately jumped and went on the attack trying to kill who ever had just touched her.
Octavia had woken up as soon as the sun rose and started to pack up her things when she noticed that Clarke was not asleep next to her. She looked over at Lincoln who had also just woken up and he pointed to the front of the cave where the fire had gone out at some point of the night. She went to go check on Clarke by just barely touching her shoulder to let her know she was there when she realized her mistake. She hadn't known that Clarke was replaying her nightmare that had woken her earlier. The next thing Octavia knew was Clarke had her pinned to the wall and she could feel the cold steel of a blade against her throat. All she could see in Clarke's eyes was haze with a fury that was burning like a thousand suns. Clarke didn't know where she was and what she was doing. Octavia had to get her back to reality. "Clarke its me Octavia. You are safe. Please put the dagger down." She could start to see Lincoln move out of the corner of her eye like he was going to try and pull Clarke off of her and she told him with a slight head shake to don't do it. "Clarke you need to put the dagger down. You are not in danger. You are with me and Lincoln on your way to meet Lexa." At the sound of Lexa's name Clarke spat "She is dead I saw Cage shoot her when I couldn't make a choice." It dawned on her that Clarke was in a daze, like she was stuck between a nightmare and reality. "Clarke, listen to me, Lexa was never inside Mount Weather with us. She left when she took the deal you two discussed that might come into play. You watched her leave before you came to meet me in that tunnel." Octavia could see that this was getting through to Clarke. "She wasn't there with us O?" Clarke asked in the smallest voice Octavia had ever heard from someone. Clarke was broken at the thought of losing Lexa. Did she even know that she cared about Lexa this deeply yet? "That's right Clarke she was never there with us. She is alive and we are on our way to meet her remember?" Octavia said hoping that this would break her out of whatever trance she was in. Clarke slowly lowered the dagger and backed away from Octavia. She could feel the blood from the small cut Clarke had made but just decided to wipe it away and ignore it. She had more important things to worry about than a small wound.
Clarke had just come back to reality when Octavia had said those last words. She couldn't believe her own eyes at the sight of her pinning O to the wall with a blade at her thought. It frightened her to no end. She slowly started to lower the dagger and back away trying to get as far from Octavia as she could. When she hit the other side of the cave she sunk to the floor and lost it. She couldn't contain the tears that just started flowing. She heard Octavia embrace her and she just let it all out. "I had to kill so many of them O. That's... all I see... when I... go to sleep at night. I am so sorry…... I didn't mean to attack you." she said through the tears. "It's ok Clarke I understand. Let it all out. You are safe with me and Lincoln now. They can't hurt you any more."
Lincoln had stepped out while Octavia had helped Clarke deal with this. He caught a flash of movement out of the corner of his eye and he was about to swing when he heard Indra say "Linkon chit ste going ona?"(Lincoln what is going on?) "Klark attacked Okteivia. Klark was dreaming. Okteivia ste speaking kom her about em nau."(Clarke attacked Octavia. Clarke was dreaming. Octavia is speaking to her about it now.) Lincoln turned around as he was explaining this to Indra. "Beda ai warn heda about disha?" (Should I warn the commander about this?) Indra asked wanting to know if Lincoln thought should be something to worry about. "Sha em will need kom know so em can help klark kom em." (Yes she will need to know so she can help Clarke with them.) Lincoln replied knowing that she would be able to help Clarke the most with these. Indra just nodded and got on her horse that was close by and headed to Tondisi.
Clarke and Octavia wandered out of the cave about thirty minutes later. Lincoln could tell she hadn't slept since she woke up earlier that night. He knew that this was a dream like the state that she was in. He had seen it with many of the warriors of his clan when they had come back from a war. He looked at Octavia and she just nodded that she was okay and not to mention it. "Clarke?" He asked her trying to get her attention so he could offer to carry her so she could try to rest. She was stumbling all over the place and could barely walk. "Yes Lincoln." she asked distracted. "Let me carry you so you can relax. I don't mind at all. We are actually closer to Tondisi than originally estimated." he said trying to get her to not feel bad if she took this offer. Octavia looked at him questioningly at this news but he just shook his head in a way that said would explain later. "I think I would like that Lincoln. I don't know how fast I would be able to go today. Between not sleeping and exerting all the energy I just did I wouldn't be able to keep up a good pace today." Clarke said grateful that he had offered. "Okay come here we have about a four hour walk till we are there." Lincoln said adjusting her in her arms so she would be comfortable. "Thank you Lincoln." She said as the exhaustion took over.
Once she was out Octavia looked at Lincoln and asked "Did I see you talking to Indra?"
Lincoln took a minute to answer this while he adjusted Clarke again. "Yes you did. She heard the commotion and asked me what was going on when I stepped out of the cave when it looked like you had it under control." Lincoln said looking straight ahead trying to focus on not falling over the ground as he walked. "Why was she out here?" Octavia asked wondering why Indra was this close to them and also wondering how long had Indra been watching them. "She didn't say but she did ask if she needed to warn Heda about Clarke's condition. I told her that it was best that she did because she may be the best one to help her through this." He said knowing Octavia did a good job of talking Clarke down. "Good job back there by the way. I saw your message when I went to assist and I knew you would be able to get through to her." Octavia couldn't help but feel a blush rise on her face at the genuine compliment he had just given her. "So how far do we have left to go before we are there?" she asked trying not to bring attention to her reaction to that. Lincoln just chuckled at this sudden switch in topics. No matter how long they had been seeing each other Octavia still didn't feel comfortable with all the compliments he tried to give her. I would say at the pace we are going we should be there in the next three hours. "Okay let me know if you need to rest. I have a feeling she is out for a while." She said while looking at Clarke who looked to be sleeping peacefully for now.
Tondisi
Lexa's tent
Lexa had just started her morning routine when Indra had stepped in her tent looking out of breath and worried. "Indra what is it? Did something happen to Clarke?" she asked quickly fearing the worst had happened. When Indra caught her breath she said "I just returned from scouting and checking up on Clarke. While I was getting an update on Clarke I heard a scream that was like a war cry coming from where they were staying the night. By the time I got there Linkon was outside the cave while Octavia was talking and holding Clarke." Why would Octavia be holding Clarke? She wondered what had happened to cause this. "I asked Linkon what was going on and he said that Clarke had been startled when they went to check on her and she attacked Octavia with a dagger. He said that she was in a trance like our warriors sometimes fall into after they come back from war." This thoroughly bothered Lexa. To cause these trances they had to be caused by a super traumatic event like losing someone they cared for at the hands of their enemy. Wait did Clarke have a nightmare about something that happened to her. She knew Clarke had feelings for her after that night before that battle but she didn't think that they were this deep for her. "He said Octavia had been able to talk her out of the trance and she just broke down crying. That is when he stepped out." Indra paused for the moment to catch her breath. "I asked him if it was something that you needed to be warned about. He said that you should know because he feels that you will be the best one to help her through this." She finished and looked at Lexa. Lexa took her time to process all of this. Clarke really did come out of that mountain affected by what she had to do. If she knew Clarke she would try to hide this from her because Clarke would think that it made her weak in Lexa's eyes. Well I will just have to make sure she knows that is not true, Lexa thought to herself. "How far are they from here?" she asked trying to gauge how much longer she had before she could make sure Clarke was okay herself. "With them traveling by foot and Linkon most likely offering to carry Clarke here, I would say that they should be here in four hours at most." Indra replied. Lexa couldn't suppress the smile that crept on her face at the care Lincoln was showing for Clarke. She would be safe the rest of the way here. "Let the guards at the gate know that we are expecting three people to show up at the gate. Come find me when they are thirty minutes out." she told Indra. All she wanted was Clarke to be able to rest where she could keep a close eye on her. "Sha Heda." was all that Indra said as she left knowing Lexa needed some space to deal with the news.
As soon as Indra left the tent Lexa broke down feeling hurt for Clarke. She knew what having to make a decision that Clarke had to make could do to someone. She herself would wake up in the middle of the night from nightmares of all the people she had to kill to protect her people. She would wake up so afraid from the regret of not being able to save Costia. She did not want to go through that again with Clarke. She wouldn't be able to live this time. She vowed to do everything in her power to make sure that Clarke would be safe and never had to go through this alone again. Yes she had Octavia to help her this time but she wanted to be the one to help her through those times. To be the first sight that she laid eyes on when she would come to from these nightmares. She vowed to let Clarke know exactly how she felt before they left for Polis in a month.
After about an hour that she allowed herself to feel for Clarke, Lexa headed to the blacksmith for an update on the designs she had given him the day before. When she walked into the tent he was using. She was immediately hit with the heat that you would expect to be a workshop like this. It took her a minute to adjust before she spoke. "Setku how are the items I requested coming along?" she asked the blacksmith already seeing the new armor he had made for Clarke. "Heda I am just finishing up the two sets of daggers you requested. Would you like to see them?" he asked putting the last bit of leather on the handle of one of the daggers. "Sha Setku I would love to see what you came up with." she said excited to see how well he had been able to adapt her design into a finished product. "Okay lets start with the armor. I hope you are satisfied with the way I crafted this." he said hoping his Heda would approve.
The armor was an almost complete match to Lexas own. The shoulder guard went over the right shoulder instead of the left and would be held in place by one buckle that was situated just over the front of the left shoulder. The strap wrapped around the chest at an angle that would allow Clarke to move without restrictions.. Attached to the shoulder guard was a blue sash that ran from the middle of the piece to about mid waist. The jacket of the armor was made of thick leather that had been dyed black and was outlined with blue around the outer edges of the jacket. The jacket itself had a hidden sheath in the right sleeve so Clarke would be able to hide a small dagger in there for emergency. The Jacket was able to be buckled in the front by three straps that ran across the breast area, across the middle of the midsection and lastly at the bottom of the jacket. The jacket continued from that point down toward mid thigh with the front being open so she would be able to move easily. To the side of the stand set two thigh straps that had been made to go on each thigh. Each one was able to hold a longer dagger than the jacket could conceal in its sleeve. Next to those lay the shin guards that were made from steel that had been tinted black to match the rest of the armor. So for she couldn't have been more proud of the attention to detail that had been shown on this. "You did amazing Setku. It was exactly what I had imagined for Klark." she said to Setku.
The next item presented to her was a pair of swords. One was a sword that was 16 inches from guard to point that would attach to Clarke's right side. It was made from steel and the hilt of the sword was wrapped in a black and blue leather that crisscrossed coming to and end at the small pommel. The pommel was in the shape of the drop ship that had brought Clarke into her life. The guard of the sword was identical to her own as was the blade of the sword.
Next to that lay a short sword that was 12 inches from guard to point, It would slide into the sheath that was sewn into the jacket right down the middle of the back that would cover her spine from the top of the shoulders to mid back. If she was not wearing the jacket, the sword would be sheathed in a black leather sheath that would buckle at the top of the sheath to a pair of smaller steel shoulder plates that would go over whatever top Clarke would be wearing at the time. The handle of this sword was rounded like the one Lexa had lost when they were fending off the Pauna. It was wrapped in a crisscrossing blue and black cord that was tied off near the cross guard of the sword. "Perfection Setku you continue to impress me. May I see the daggers now?" she said asking him.
He turned around with two sets of two daggers. One dagger was longer than the other by a couple inches. The first dagger was six inches in length from the top of the wooden handle to the point of the steel blade. It would be attached to the left thigh for Clarke. Lexas would be attached to her waist in front. The smaller daggers were what Lexa really had been waiting to see. She had designed them to be twins to each other. They both had four inch blades that were sharpened on both sides. The handles were made to be able to be easily handled as they were being pulled from their hidden sheathes in Clarke's right sleeve and Lexa's left sleeve. They were wrapped in black leather with red woven through hers and blue woven through Clarke's. On the blade in small letters near the cross guard was the name Klark on Lexas' blade and Leksa on Clarke's blade. That way no matter what they would always be with each other when they had to get close enough to use these blades. Lexa could have not been more impressed with Setku's work. Everything she had wanted had been made to perfection. "Thank you Setku you took my designs and turned them into a masterpiece. For that I am grateful. These will serve both Clarke and I well in battle." she said to the man that had been able to get all this done in roughly two days. "Can you have these brought to my tent?" "Sha Heda I will have them brought over as quickly as possible."
As she was leaving the blacksmith's tent, Indra was there to let her know that Clark was now thirty minutes out from the gates of Tondisi. "Thank you Indra when they arrive I am sure Octavia will make herself known and why she is here." she told Indra. "Sha Heda. You should know that Clarke is still asleep with Linkon carrying her." Lincoln had carried Clarke all the way here Lexa wondered to herself. Did that interaction with Octavia take that much out of her? "Thank you Indra when they arrive please escort them to my tent as quickly as possible. I would like Clarke to continue to rest as much as possible. Also have a tent set up for Linkon and Octavia close to my tent but far enough away to give them privacy." With that Lexa turned and headed to her tent to await the arrival of Klark kom Skikru, her Wanheda, and her soulmate.
AN: I hope I was able give enough visual detail when it came to the things Lexa had made For Clarke. I had an idea of how I wanted these to look and I based them closely off of the weapons Lexa used in the show. Only changed some of the details so they would be unique to Clarke.
