Carlos had now dozed off in the back, leaving the two women to themselves. Terri had her head against the window, a never ending thought of Jill just up and leaving her at anytime. What use was she to her, other than to be annoying?

"You know I actually thought you were crazy," she now decided to start up a conversation.

Jill turned to look at her, frowning slightly. "The whole mansion thing."

Terri now turned to look at her, chuckling as if she'd gone round the bend. "Seems you were right after all."

Jill shook her head in disbelief, Terri now sighing beside her.

"I never thought any of this could be true."

Jill turned to her again. "It's like being trapped in some monster movie."

Terri couldn't help but laugh, pulling Jill in with her.

"Something funny?" Carlos yawned with a stretch.

Jill looked to him through the mirror, opening her mouth to respond when Terri screamed for her to stop. Quickly turning back to look at the road, she slammed on the brakes.

Carlos pulled himself up to see what they'd stopped for, only to realise it was his friend. "Nicholai!"

The man was panting slightly, but seemed alright none the less.

"Climb aboard," Jill nodded to the back.

He quickly headed over to the back of the pickup, using the tire he climbed over the side. Once he was on Jill drove off again.

"Anyone got any ideas on how we get out of here alive?" Jill asked them all.

"Helicopter," Rain now stirred.

"Yeah and where do we find one of those?" Jill sighed. "Fucking Umbrella makes sure they only have access to them."

"That's it!" Carlos quickly added.

"What's it?" Terri turned to him.

"We find one of Umbrella's."

"Yeah, because I'm pretty sure they'll have one just ready and waiting for us."

"He has a point," Jill agreed.

Terri slumped into the seat, crossing her arms.

"Then we just need to find..."

"Take a left!" Nicholai suddenly shouted to them, banging on roof just in case.

Jill furrowed her brows at the sudden order, but did as she was told. All of a sudden a large explosion erupted behind them.

"What the..."

"That bastard is back!" Nicholai seethed.

"I thought you'd dealt with it?" Carlos now questioned his friend.

"I did!" Nicholai frowned. "I saw it go down!"

"We're going to have to go on foot," Jill now warned them.

"But what about, Rain?" Carlos looked to her worriedly.

Jill pulled the car to a stop then turned to look back. "We take her with us."

Carlos looked a little dubious, but gave a nod none the less.

"Come on," she now ordered them.

"Rain," Carlos tried to help, but she pushed him off.

"I can walk myself," she snarled.

"You sound better already," he smiled.

It was true, she was looking a little brighter than before, but still she wasn't 100% just yet. They headed up the path, coming to the school.

"You think we should hide in there?" Carlos now pointed.

"The school," Terri scowled.

Jill shrugged and turned to look back. That monster was dead on their heels.

"No time to argue," she now pushed her.

"Hey!"

"Just get going!" she snapped.

Terri allowed herself to be pushed inside.

"I don't like this," she cowered slightly.

"This way," Jill gestured, already halfway down the hall from them.

Terri hurried on to catch up with her, jumping with a shriek as a moan was heard near an open classroom.

"Shush," Jill hushed her.

She nodded and carried on after her. Carlos and Nicholai were now helping Rain into the building before they started checking their supplies.

"I've two grenades left, you?"

Carlos held up the one.

"It will do," Nicholai nodded as he reloaded his gun.

Carlos was just now looking out of the window when he had to quickly pull back.

"Run!" he warned.

Nicholai grabbed Rain and ran for the opposite corridor Jill and Terri had gone down. The rocket that had been fired off blew a great big hole in the wall of the school.

"He doesn't quit," Carlos frowned.

The three ducked behind the wall for cover as another rocket hit. This time debris rained down upon them, splitting them off from their wounded team mate.

"Shit!" Carlos started to clear a path. "Rain, hang on!"

"It's too late," Nicholai abruptly stopped him.

"It's never too late!" Carlos glared. "She's our friend!"

The sound of heavily footsteps was heard growing closer, followed closely by gunshots then nothing but silence.

"Rain!" Carlos sighed heavily, punching a piece of concrete. "Damn, not you too!"

"Come on, we will mourn them later." Nicholai pulled him away.

Jill was now on the first floor, when she thought she heard crying coming from one of the rooms.

"I hate this place, can we go now?" Terri complained.

"Quiet!" Jill hissed, straining to hear.

Terri frowned, but silently followed on.

"Is anyone here?" she asked in a whisper.

The crying seemed to be coming from ahead, a store room maybe?

"Is that?" Terri questioned.

"Shush," Jill waved at her.

Terri stopped to look around, all the while muttering under her breath. She decided now was a good time to pull out her trusty pill bottle and swallow a few.

"I'm opening the door, okay?" Jill continued to talk to whoever it was hiding in there. "Don't be afraid, I won't hurt you. I'm here to help."

She reached out for the handle and turned while pulling the door open. Shining her torch into the room, she was met with a young girl.

"Are you alright?" were her first words upon setting eyes on her.

The young girl looked terrified as she looked to her.

"Come with us, we'll help you out."

She held out her hand with a warm welcoming smile. The young girl reached out with her own hand and Jill pulled her up.

"I hid from those things," she now told her.

"Good girl," Jill praised. "That's some excellent thinking."

"Thank you," the girl now sniffled as Jill wiped away the tears from her face.

"You're a very brave little girl to be hiding here all by yourself," Jill continued as she walked the girl out of the classroom with Terri in tow.

"I'm not a little girl," she now told her straight. "I'm nine."

"Ah little lady," Jill corrected.

"My names Angela," she informed her.

"A very grown up name for such..."

Angela looked up at her.

"Sorry, I forgot." Jill smiled.

"My friends call me, Angie."

"Angie, I like that." Jill thought sweetly. "My names Jill and that's Terri."

Terri gave a small wave, along with a smile she'd not used in some time.

"Hi."

"Hi," Angie returned the greeting before looking up at Jill again. "Are you a cop?"

Jill gave a shrug. "I'm a little better than a cop."

"Only a little," Angie asked.

"A lot," she now winked at her.

Angie smiled then turned to look at Terri. "Are you the news lady?" she asked.

Terri smiled wider now. "I am."

"My daddy said it was all just lies and made up stuff you always talked about."

Terri's smile faded with this and Jill flashed her a smile until feeling the floor start to shake slightly.

"What's going on?" Terri now panicked as the sound of heavy footsteps was now heard.

"It's found us!" Jill now said as she held onto Angie tightly.

The thing soon came into view and Jill jumped into action.

"Terri," she quickly grabbed the woman's attention. "Take Angie and run!"

"What about you?" Terri asked dumbfounded.

"Just go!" Jill snapped as she reloaded her handgun.

Terri held out her hand for Angie to take.

"Promise me you'll find me again," Angie looked to her.

"I promise, sweetie." Jill nodded before turning back to shoot at the monstrous creature.

"S.T.A.R.S." was the only eerie thing out of its mouth once again.

"You won't be extinguishing this STAR anytime soon," she glared as she unloaded a full round into it.

It didn't seem to have much effect, and to make matters worse the creature could run at an alarming rate.

"Shit!" she cursed at having to reload just as it attacked. She dodged the first fist, but couldn't escape the grasp of its other hand.

"Nooo!" she screamed as she was sent to the ground rather harshly.

She gasped for air as the Nemesis reached down to grab hold of her again., this time slamming her into the wall. She felt her head connect with the hard concrete, her ears were now ringing and her eye lids felt rather heavy.

"Not like this," she choked out before crying out as something pieced right through her shoulder.

The last thing that was heard over the ringing in her ears was her name. She couldn't remember the gunshots that followed or the groan of the creature as it dropped her to the floor. Couldn't even recall seeing Carlos getting g hit by the thing before he and Nicholai managed to take it down.

"Come on, Jill. Not you too," Carlos sighed as he looked down on her.

"If she does survive, she'll need a vaccine."

"Don't you think I know that," he glared at his only remaining friend.

"Then what do you plan to do?" Nicholai questioned.

"I'll find another just you watch," he vowed. "Umbrella has more they have to."

Nicholai heaved himself to his feet to follow his companion out, leaving Terri and Angie to look after Jill.

"Is she going to be alright?" Angie asked hopeful.

Terri just shrugged as she looked to Jill's limp form.

"Please be alright," Angie begged with her hand wrapped tightly around Jill's.

The first thing from Rain's mouth was a groan, but not as in the usual human groan, but rather a dragged out inhuman groan.

She pushed herself to her feet, swaying a little but once she was up she was staying up. The next was the uncomfortable feeling in her neck that needed sorting out. A good crack would do it. Perfect.

Now there was one smaller thing that needed to be taken care of, her hunger. She was starved or so that's what her stomach was telling her. It yearned for flesh and not just any flesh, but flesh of a living being. But where would a delicacy just pop up from?

Heading out of the stone walled prison, she went in search of food. Her stomach demanded fresh succulent flesh to fill it. Her dead brethren were also in need of this sustenance, but she'd be damned if she allowed them her spoils.

"You're just slowing me down!" a voice was heard just ahead of her.

"But you can't leave me!" another responded.

"It's every man for himself," the first commented.

"No!"

Groans of the undead alerted the pair and gunshots soon followed until only the sound of clicking could be heard.

"Fuck! Give me your gun!"

"No! I need this! You bastard!"

The sound of hurried footsteps reached her ears, and soon she found she had the man in her arms, how delightful it was until he panicked and shot her in the gut.

"Get the fuck off me!" he yelled, straining to free himself.

Rain couldn't wait, her hunger blinded her and she lunged for his neck. Soon he found he could no longer scream or stand for that matter. He dropped to his knees, taking Rain with him. She ripped out chunks of flesh between her teeth and swallowed without chewing, tearing more and more to help ease the hunger which didn't seem to quell.

More walking corpses had been drawn to the fresh victim, but Rain growled as if like a wild animal protecting her prey from the awaiting mouths of others. It did nothing to deter them however. They just seemed to be working on autopilot as they dropped to the floor to feast.

There was no way she was sharing her kill with these. The first zombie that had got in close range was quickly decapitated by having its head be forced to do a 360. The next had its jaw completely ripped off, her fingers slipping right between rotten teeth as it moaned, completely rendering it useless. She kicked the lasts knee backwards, sending it to the ground, and before it could right itself she crushed its fragile skull beneath her boot.

Now she stood looking down on the mess of bodies, when something in her just snapped. A small fragment of memory was caught and replayed to her.

"I don't wanna end up like those things, walking around without a soul."

"You won't," Carlos had reassured her.

Surprisingly she seemed to want to hold onto her last bit of dignity as she now fought with herself for dominance. Her hands reached up to clutch each side of her head.

"S...Still...have...a...soul!" she ground out. "Not...dead...yet!"

Another zombie stumbled over seeking out the flesh of the innocent. Still half in a daze, she turned with lighting speed on the walking corpse and sunk her teeth into its flesh. It was stale and rotten, but still she dug deeper tearing away what little flesh was left of the creature as it moaned, unable to defend itself against one of its own.

Eventually Rain snapped out of it and twisted the dead creature's neck in one swift movement. Blood now drooled out from between rotten teeth, followed by a chunk of rotten flesh which was discarded as she opened her mouth to speak.

"Find...them...kill...them!" she snarled.
