(A/N) The whole puzzle thing is my take on genetics. That's how it's portrayed in mindscapes. Having the same color means two people are compatible. Yes, Yamanaka would technically be capable of changing dna like that. Technically, if they can even find the puzzle. It's usually locked pretty deep in a person's mindscape. Also, they have to know it exists, so that's a bit of a problem...

Nin woke up slowly, realizing that someone had used a chakra string to connect Isobu to the seals on her arms. She flicked her wrists, disconnecting the strings. She reconnected with her own strings, and sunk into her mindscape.

Normally, there was a large chasm between her mind, and Isobu's, just barely connected by a few chakra strings. Now, there was an odd rope and plank bridge crossing them. She pointed to it. "That was not there before."

Isobu shook his massive head. "The snake sannin did something with the seal. It allows me to store enough chakra in the seals to have a miniature version of me, if you will, in your mind. With what the snake is doing, it'll be useful."

"He didn't do anything to you, right?" Nin asked, brows furrowing.

Isobu shook his head. "It's what he's doing to you and Kurama's kit is what you should be worried about."

"What is he doing?" Nin asked, confused.

Isobu shook his head, red chakra flowing out from him and across the bridge. It collected into a tiny Isobu. "I will show you. It is easier."

Nin followed the small Isobu deeper into her mindscape, into a room she hadn't seen before. A large puzzle, each puzzle piece colored the same red as her hair, was on the wall.

"See this piece here," Isobu said, pointing to a corner piece with his foot.

Nin looked at it, seeing the kanji for puppet. "Yeah? What about it."

"That symbol symbolizes your genetics. It's what makes you, you."

Nin nodded, glancing over the puzzle. It wasn't long before she noticed something odd. "Huh? What's with those pieces with the kanji for scorpion?"

"What Orochimaru's doing," Isobu said gravely.

Nin made a face. "He's messing with my genetics?"

Isobu nodded. "Sasori of the Red Sand. That's the donor of those pieces."

"Does the color mean anything?"

"It means that normally, you'd be compatible. If you needed to exchange chakra, blood, whatever else, you two are compatible. It also means, the genetics from him sunk in without any problems. If Orochimaru attempts anything with people who aren't compatible with you, I don't know what I'll do."

Nin nodded. "Yeah, so people who aren't compatible have a different color?"

Isobu nodded. "I would have to change the genes of both you and the sample to make it fit in with your puzzle."

"Why not reject the genetics?"

"Because you'll die if I do that," Isobu said bluntly. "I bet he's tried this with dozens of others, but it's only working with you because you have me. I can mess slightly with your genetics to make the other genes fit in. Kurama will be doing the same with Naruto, if that is indeed what is going on with Naruto."

"So, does having Sasori's genetics do anything in particular to me?"

"Not very much, but it does calm your chakra somewhat. It will be easier to do chakra control exercises and puppetry."

Nin nodded. "Makes sense. It is his specialty."

"Get some actual rest," Isobu advised. "You should sleep while you can."

Nin nodded, disappearing from her mindscape.

Isobu sighed as he surveyed the puzzle. He feared the new genetics would overwhelm her, which would result in her death. Perhaps he could convince her to be an actual jinchuuriki, it'd raise her chances of survival.

Uzumaki genes were usually quite resilient, able to take multiple other genetics without too much trouble. Unfortunately, Nin had gotten the short end of the stick on that, and did not have very resilient genetics.

Nin woke up a while later to someone dropping a set of textbooks off in her cell. She blinked at them. "Well, I mean, knowledge of internal stuff is kinda needed for human puppets, isn't it."

"Usually," Isobu said from his puppet. "Humans aren't like trees, they have more systems and stuff."

Nin snickers. "Also, trees feed themselves and keep to themselves, humans eat things and make fools of themselves."

"Amen to that," Isobu said, shaking his head.

(A/N) So, uh, sorry about the half-done chapter, I had four hours of choir today, and I wanna die. Save me. So, would you mind if I just sorta went back and rewrote a few of the chapters? I need to fix this…

Also, congrats, looks like Naruto, a Dinosaur is Not a Shinobi Animal will be updating tomorrow. I really did think it would be the Lilo and Stitch fic, it is my most popular one, after all. Well, my most popular one that was an option.
