Remnant's Guardian-7

~Yang: POV~

"I can't believe this. I got two months detention for what I did in the Emerald forest." Weiss said, pacing angrily around the room.

"Serves you right for trying to kill a classmate during initiations." I said folding my arms, and leaning against the wall.

Both Ruby and I ended up on the same team, with our respective partners forming Team RWBY, with Rubes as the Team Leader, Scythe was a different case, but was still permitted to remain a student at Beacon. Right now Weiss had just gotten back from Headmaster Ozpin caller her to his office after he had assigned our teams and our team names, and the results of that meeting were being shown as the Ice-Queen was pacing around the room.

"I'm sorry if I was just trying to kill a monster." Weiss exclaimed turning to glare at me.

"He's not a monster. Why are you calling him that?" My partner Blake Belladonna, said getting defensive about Scythe. "What is he a monster because he's a Faunus?"

"He's a monster because he's a Grimm." Weiss stated.

"What does that even mean?" Ruby questioned.

"Look, thirteen years ago, there was an incident at a hospital in Atlas. It was right after a young Faunus had been put through an experimental procedure, and it left the Kingdom pretty rattled up. The procedure the child went through involved having five different people donate fractions of their souls to him. My father honestly hated the procedure." Weiss exclaimed.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because my mother took part in it. She donated a piece of her soul to save the boy's life, and that technically made the boy a Schnee." Weiss said. "That was his logic anyway, but the truth is, that didn't give him any sort of familial bonds to the Schnee's. My father is too blind to see that."

"How does this all tie into him being a Grimm?" Blake questioned.

"After the procedure, a mad-scientist named Arthur Watts, injected the boy with a steroid, based off Grimm Essence not long after he had been suspended for turning the boy into a living weapon, when the procedure was only meant to save the boy's life, and that boy went berserk. Turned into a full on rage monster, he was no different than a Grimm. Though he managed to get away from the Atlas Police, and despite the council going against hunting him down, and euthanizing him, my father still put out a bounty for his head to be brought in. Dead. The reward for it has been increased several times in the last thirteen years." Weiss explained. "If memory serves right, his medical binder went missing during the incident as well, and he most likely has it on his person."

"Does Scythe look like a fucking rage monster to you?" I questioned.

"He's an actual monster. As the Schnee Heiress it is my duty to put him down for the safety of all humanity." Weiss said.

I had it at that point, and decked her right in the face, sending her to the ground, with a swelling cheek as Blake stood beside me.

"I'm not putting up with this shit." I said glaring at Weiss, my eyes now crimson red, and my hair on fire, as I activated my semblance. "I don't care, if you are my sister's partner. He saved Ruby's life, and he wants to become a Huntsman to save people, with a smile on his face. So if I ever find, you've tried to kill him again, I'm gonna tear your head off, and shove it up your prim princess ass, before shipping your body back to your father. This. I. Swear."

"Weiss, I'd listen to her at this point." Ruby said. "She's never bluffing when she makes a promise while her Semblance is active."

With that, Blake and I left the dorm room, and went down the hall a bit, before I stopped, and leaned against the wall, hands over my face.

"Why the hell did I just do that in front of Ruby?" I questioned.

"Hey, you stood up against a Schnee Heiress. You even decked her in the face, when telling her to back off from killing someone she was hell bent on killing." Blake said. "That was badass if you ask me."

"But I did it in front of Ruby. She hates it when I get mad like that in front of her." I sighed. "I really screwed up this time, didn't I?"

"Not as badly as Weiss did. Two months of detention before the school year even starts, is not something that can easily be wiped off a permanent record, if at all." Blake said. "The only thing you screwed up with, was letting your anger show in front of your sister. You didn't do it in front of any teachers so there's likely zero chances of you getting in trouble for this."

"I guess you're right." I said.

"C'mon. I want to go see how Scythe is doing. Weiss did injure him when his Aura was down." Blake said.

I nodded in agreement, before both Blake and I went to Scythe's dorm. It looked pretty much the same on the outside, but the doors were farther apart, due to these dorms being bigger. Why they were bigger, Blake and I were about to find out, and we could smell something cooking before we ended up knocking.

It was a minute before Scythe opened the door, and looked a bit surprised to see us, but he was still wearing his sunglasses.

"Oh, it's just you two. I thought it was Ice-Queen here to try and kill me again." He said before moving out of the way. "Come on in, I was just making myself dinner."

"You have a kitchen in your dorm?" Blake asked as we entered.

"These dorms are for special teams. Like two person teams, or solo students like me. They're even used for students who end up having kids during their time here at Beacon." He explained. "So what can I do for you?"

"We wanted to check in and see that you were all right." Blake said sitting at the island counter.

"Also, I had a bit of a falling out with Weiss, and was hoping I could probably crash with you until it's all sorted out." I said looking around.

I finally understood why these dorms were bigger than the normal ones. They were twice the size of normal dorms, and having only one bed in it, there was plenty room for a couch, coffee table, the bookcase, and a dresser. The other side of the room had a fully furnished kitchen, complete with cookware, a sink, stove, fridge, and an oven.

"Me to actually, I don't wanna be in the same room as her for a while." Blake said.

"I'm fine with it, the couch unfolds into a bed. I don't think the both of you can fit on the bed anyways." Scythe exclaimed.

"Unless Blakey wants to snuggle a bit." I teased.

"I'm fine with the bed couch." Blake said, blushing a bit.

"So what was this falling out?" Scythe asked stirring a pan of some sort.

"We had an argument about why Weiss wanted to kill you." Blake said as I joined her at the island counter.

I could see from Scythe's response that he flinched a bit at that, before he went back to cooking.

"I'm guessing she told you about me?" Scythe inquired.

"She told us you were basically a Grimm with what that Watts guy did to you." I said.

Scythe sighed as he stopped cooking, and took the pot that had been boiling, before dumping its contents into the strainer placed in the sink.

"What exactly did Watts do to you?" Blake asked.

Scythe stopped moving before he slumped his shoulders, and removed the sauce pan from the stovetop.

"If I show you, do you two promise not to scream?" He asked, going to the other side of the counter, and grabbing an old looking binder.

"I promise." Blake said.

"Same." I added.

Giving off another sigh, one of acceptance, Scythe put the binder down in front of us. The first page inside described who the doctor was in charge of his procedure and recovery, a Dr. Pietro Polendina. The first six pages after that were of the donors that donated pieces of their souls to help save his life. I looked a little surprised to see the page with Blake's mom's name and profile picture in the top left corner. She was obviously just as shocked as I was. Both of us were even surprised that Professor Goodwitch had a page of her own in this list. But nothing, could have prepared me, for when I saw my mother's profile, and saw that what she donated to him, were her eyes.

We looked up, and to our shock, we saw Scythe had removed his shades, and was looking back at us, the silver irises and black sclera on full view, with the red surrounding them making him look twice as menacing as he should have been. But it was starting to make sense now, as to why his hair was colorized like a Grimm's mask, it's because he basically was a Grimm. But, the only thing I could feel for him wasn't fear, it was sympathy and pain.

"Weiss probably told you about the steroid Watts used on me." He said.

"Y-yeah she did." Blake said.

Scythe closed his eyes and turned around, not bothering to put his shades back on, as he went back to cooking what was in the saucepan.

"Arthur Watts, created the Grimm Steroid, and… it was supposed to be diluted before administration, but it wasn't. He gave me the purest steroid he created, and he didn't stop at one dose. He injected me with an entire bottle of it." Scythe explained. "So you could imagine why I would be labeled as a monster by Weiss Schnee."

"How did you escape Atlas?" I asked.

"I don't know. One minute, I was sleeping soundly in my hospital bed, holding the cloak, of the woman who saved my life, and gave me her eyes, tightly to my chest like a teddy bear, and the next I'm finding myself in a frozen tundra suffering from hypothermia next to a shattered statue of a Pterodactyl, before Raven found me. After that I was in the Branwen Camp, and was taken in as one of their own." Scythe explained.

"So, Summer rescued you from the incident you spoke about out in the Emerald Forest?" I asked. "What happened?"

"I don't remember much, but the details were written down in that binder. My parents and everyone in my village worked for the SDC, Jacques was supposed to make sure we'd be safe from Grimm attacks, or bandit invasions, and if any got through, they'd be taken care of immediately." Scythe explained. "My parents weren't fools, and didn't trust that he'd keep his word. They managed to get some dirt on Jacques, and reported it to the Atlesian Council. After that the guards of the work village we lived in, were gone, and an explosion erupted from the center of my town. An Atlas Deathstalker was the first to attack, but then Summer came and fought off as many Grimm as she could, but my parents weren't so lucky to make it out alive, so they pleaded with Summer to take me, and before I could protest, the Atlas Deathstalker came, shooting its venom and melting everything that it touched, and I got it's venom in my eyes, after that, Summer took me to Atlas, explained the situation, and I was given the antidote to the venom, but because it was so late in being administered, I was comatose for two months. Then after the procedure Arthur weaponized, turning me into a weapon, I woke up, and I realized I had my sight back. Then the rest is history."

"So what happened with Jacques?" Blake inquired.

"With my parents dead, he was free to walk. I suspect the reason why he's put a bounty out on my severed head, is because I'm the only one who can testify against him, if I ever get my hands on the copies of the evidence my parents stashed away."

"Let's… let's move on to a less gloomy topic." I said, not feeling comfortable with putting Scythe in this situation to relive his traumatizing past.

"Sounds good to me." Blake said, feeling the same way.

"Who wants a drink?" Scythe asked pulling a couple bottles of rum and whiskey out from the cupboard above.

"You have alcohol?" I asked.

"Yeah. My mom bought me a few bottles of scotch, rum, and whiskey to celebrate my acceptance into Beacon." Scythe said.

"Your mom?" Blake asked him.

"Well, she's not my actual mom. I guess you could say she adopted me. She's the woman who raised me in the Branwen Tribe." Scythe explained. "If alcohol isn't your fancy, I got some soda in the fridge."

"Guess that makes sense." Blake smiled softly. "I'll take a glass of whiskey."

"Scotch if you have any left." I said.

"Oh trust me. I have plenty." He said, sounding like he was smiling.

"You didn't happen to buy more bottles when you went into town earlier after the Team naming ceremony did you?" I asked.

"I might have bought a few crates of the good stuff while I was in town doing my grocery shopping. Compliments of Weiss and Jacques Schnee." He said holding up what looked like a platinum Schnee Brand credit card.

"You swiped Weiss's card?" I asked in shock.

"Hey I was raised for six years as a bandit's child. Pick-pocketing was the first bandit skill I was ever taught. I swiped it while I was dodging her attacks. Figured she owed me big time for attempting to take my life." He smiled, looking at us.

"You tiger." I smirked. "So, how did you sneak the crates onto campus?"

"Eh, a bandit never goes anywhere, without their trust Compression Dust side bag." Scythe said.

"You sneak." Blake said taking the card. "I can easily return it to Weiss's possession while I grab my bag with my clothes in it."

"Grab mine to? It's the orange one with my emblem on it. Better yet just ask Ruby for it." I said.

Blake nodded before she left, leaving me alone with Scythe, as he finished cooking up dinner.

"So, what we having?" I asked with a smile.
