Fink woke up. She looked at the time, 6:49 am. "Wow, I woke up early today.." she mumbled. She looked at Tko, he was still asleep. A grin grew on her face, she got a plan.
Fink picked up her pillow, and raised it into the air. She was gonna slap him with it, to wake him up. Sure it was mean, but he did it to her several times.
As she got ready, she heard the front door open. She threw the pillow onto her bed, and opened the room door a bit. The front door shut, Carol went somewhere?
She left the room, looking around. Carol would usually leave a note, but there was nothing. "Strange.." she said.
She looked out the window, and saw Carol walking. It didn't seem like anything was wrong, but then Carol looked in both directions, and disappeared into an alleyway. "That's..weird. Maybe I should follow her." Fink said to herself.
What a horrible idea.
Fink ran outside, and after Carol. She was able to catch up to her, but stay away as far as she could. If Carol caught her, who knows how mad she would be.
They ended up at an entrance to the sewers. Carol slipped inside, and Fink followed soon after. She was as quiet as possible when walking. The water made her footsteps echo, so she started to tip toe.
After slowing herself down, Carol was nowhere to be seen. "Dangit!" Picking up her speed, she ran forward. She ended up at a corner, and peeked her head past it.
Carol was standing in front of double doors. They were covered by several locks, and she took out keys. She started unlocking the locks, while Fink thought. "What is she doing..? Is this a secret base or something? Or.." Her thoughts were interrupted when the doors opened.
Past the doors, was a giant tree. Surrounding it where small glowing orbs. That make Fink question what Carol was doing even more. She watched as Carol walked inside, then followed.
It would be harder to follow since it was such an open space, so she found a spot to hide and stayed put. Carol examined all the glorbs, she was counting them.
"Seems like there's still the same amount as before." She smiled. Fink heard footsteps coming from the stairs, Carol noticed too. They looked at the stairs, and saw a figure standing at them.
They were wearing a coat, a scarf, and a hood that covered their face. It was the same figure who kidnapped Ko. "You.." Carol said. "It's been a while, Carol." The figure said.
Fink was confused, they knew each other? She watched as he jumped down from the stairs, and walked towards Carol. She started throwing punches at him, but he dodged them.
"Still upset?" The figure asked. "Of course I am! You took my son away!" Carol shouted. "Yes that is true..but you got him back, correct?" He said.
"How did you know.." Carol asked. "I'm not here to chat, just here to pick up a few things." He looked at the glorbs, and Carol kicked him into the ground.
"You're not stealing these glorbs! I suggest you leave before I mess you up." Carol said. That made the figure chuckle. Carol blinked, and he was gone. She looked around, and saw him collecting glorbs. "Hey!"
She ran towards him, and he was gone again. She turned to the stairs. He was standing at the top, holding a jar filled with glorbs. "Thank you for opening the doors, I've been wanting to snatch these for a while." He waved goodbye, and flew out.
Carol sighed, and headed up the stairs. He didn't take that many, so hopefully it would be okay. Fink got out of hiding, and walked towards the tree.
This was new to her, she had never seen anything like it. She grabbed a glorb, and placed it in her pocket. It was wrong, but she wanted to learn more about it.
As she starting walking back to the stairs, she stepped on something. She lifted her foot, and under it was a pow card. "A pow card..?" She picked it up, and stared at it. It belonged to the person who was just here, he was level -7, and his name..
Shadowy Figure.
She placed it in her pocket, and ran up the stairs. Carol was gonna make it back before her, so she needed to find a shortcut. Luckily, she travels around in the sewers a lot, so she was able to find one.
Tko was still asleep, snoring loudly. The window was opened, and he jumped awake. Fink leaped inside and shut it. "Wh..Fink..? Did you just..come in from outside..?" He asked while rubbing his eyes.
"Shhh." She pulled out the glorb. "What is that..?" Tko asked. "No idea. Don't tell Carol, okay?" Fink said. He nodded, and hopped off the bed. He looked at it, for some reason it looked...appetizing to him. "Is it edible?" He asked.
"Um, I don't think so. Don't eat it." She put it on her bed, and sighed. "Where did you go?" He sat down next to her. "I saw Carol leaving, so I followed her. We ended up in the sewers, and she stopped at these doors with a bunch of locks on them. Then inside was this huge tree!" She said.
"And that's where you found this thing?" He asked. She nodded. "I think I know where you went."
"Really?" She sat up quickly. "I'm not sure, but I think that place is called the Glorb Sanctuary. And this, must be a glorb." Tko picked up the glorb. "How do you know that?" Fink asked.
"Whenever my dad had meetings with Buttman, they would talk about it. Something about-" He was cut off when there was a knock at the door. They shoved the glorb under the covers, and Fink opened the door.
"Morning, Carol!" Fink greeted. "Morning! You two ready for breakfast?" Carol asked. They both nodded, and ran out of the room.
They ate their food quickly, so Carol got them seconds. "Hey..Carol. What are glorbs?" Fink asked. "Um..why do you ask?" Carol said.
Tko stared at her like she was crazy, was she trying to get caught? "Dendy was asking me about glorbs, but I don't know what they are so I wanted to know if you did." Fink said.
"Well, they're used for a lot of things, mainly for robots." Carol said. "So..the robots from Boxmore use them? What else are they used for?" Fink asked. "I don't really know, I never learned much about them."
Fink nodded. "Thank you, hopefully this'll help Dendy!" She said. Fink dragged Tko back to their room, and shut the door. "I wonder why she suddenly wanted to know about glorbs.." Carol thought to herself.
"So..glorbs allow robots to live. Does that mean they're like a source of energy? Maybe they're like power ups.." Fink said. "I don't know. I don't care either." Tko said.
"Why? This is really interesting! I think it can help me learn more about Carol too!" Fink beamed. "If you wanna know more about her, ask." Tko suggested. "I can't just ask..that's weird."
Tko raised an eyebrow. "Have you seriously never considered asking her about you..because it's weird?" Fink nodded, and he facepalmed.
"Just be careful, if you get caught I'm not sticking up for you. Following her was your choice." He said. "I don't need to stick up for me. I've gotten away with things in the past.." Fink said. Tko gasped. "A goody two shoes like you? Lying?" He snickered.
"Don't act like you've never lied, everyone has to do it once in a while." Fink said. He shrugged, no reason to argue with that.
It was night, Fink an Tko were asleep. Carol peeked her head inside their room, and once she saw they were asleep she left. She was heading to the Glorb Sanctuary again, she forgot to close the doors.
Hopefully Shadowy didn't get inside again. If he did, that would cause more problems for her.
When she made it to the doors, they were open. There was no sign of Shadowy though, that was good. She walked inside, looking at all the glorbs. A few more were missing, and she narrowed her eyes.
"I know you're here." She said. "Aw, I thought I was good at hiding.." Shadowy stepped from behind the tree. "Why are you here?
"I'm just here to pick up some more glorbs, you shouldn't have left the door open." Shadowy said with a chuckle. He reached for a glorb, and Carol slapped his hand. "That's a lie."
"Ah..congratulations, you could tell." He said. She kicked him into the ground, and placed her foot down on his back. "After so long, why did you decide to come back now? Why are you working for Venomous?" Carol asked.
Shadowy stayed quiet. Carol waited for him to respond, then he turned his head to her. "Earlier, I saw your rat. She was hiding, watching everything." He said. "What..? Fink followed me!?" She would be scolding her for this later.
"Yep. But that's not important. Tko isn't safe." He said. She glared at him, and pressed her foot down harder. "What do you mean he's not safe?" Carol questioned.
"When you least expect it, I will kill him. All you have to do is blink, and it'll happen." Shadowy said. This made Carol feel anger. He took away her son once, and now he was going to do it again? She wouldn't believe it, she wouldn't let it happen.
"This is a trick, isn't it?" Carol said. "You can believe that, but it'll make everything worse." He disappeared, and Carol looked around. He was at the top of the stairs again. "GET BACK HERE!" She shouted.
"Sorry, my time is up. I hope we meet again though, you'll be seeing a lot more of me." He grinned, and flew out. Carol tried to chase after him, but she had no idea where he could've gone. "Dangit."
Carol slowly opened the front door, being careful not to wake Fink and Tko up. She looked inside their room, and they were still asleep. She sighed in relief, then snuck to her room.
She threw herself onto her bed, and stared at the ceiling. "Tko isn't safe." She kept thinking about that. She wanted to believe it was just a trap, but she couldn't tell. Tko would be able to protect himself, but that didn't make her worry any less.
