Sophie parked her car in the lot and made her way to Rosseau's across the street to prepare to open for Monday night. After her failed attempts to jaywalk, she made her way to the nearest light to safely cross the street in the rush hour traffic.

Sophie joined along with the mass of tourists huddled who were waiting to cross. They were lead by a tour guide who constantly shouted the names of each restaurant in the district. She stared at the median of the intersection watching cars whooshing past her. Eventually, something caught her eye.

Bonnie.

Bonnie was adjacent to where Sophie was from the light. But she wasn't waiting for a light, Bonnie just turned a corner and kept on walking East.

Seeing this, Sophie powerwalked across the street once the walking sign lit up in the thru-traffic that was north to south. The traffic from east to west was minimal, so Sophie quickly walked before she barely got hit by a vehicle that passed behind her.

Sophie walked quickly to approach Bonnie without scaring her. "Bonnie! Hey Bonnie!"

She stopped her tracks and turned around. "What? Stop calling my name. I just want to go home"

Seeing that Bonnie is a bit upset, Sophie gave her an explanation. "I'm so sorry about that. But I didn't know if I would be able to see you again and all. I am so sorry. But I absolutely have to ask you about some things—"

Sophie noticed Bonnie's eyes widen, and also something behind her in the corner of her left eye. Sophie quickly turned around. Diego.

She eyed the two to make a connection. It was obvious that the two knew each other. Bonnie's face was plastered with fear.

When her eyes landed back on Bonnie Sophie noticed that she was slowly disappearing. Seeing this Sophie embraced her.

Sophie felt herself in a black abyss for a brief second before falling. She fell back into a hard surface that caught her and she breathe. Her back pained her. She lied there for a couple of moments before feeling comfortable to recuperate herself and stand up. Once she finally did, she was face-to-face with Bonnie. Bonnie was in a defensive stance.

Sophie held her hands in guilt. "Hey, you do not have to worry about me, Luca told me what happened at Purple Elephant. I'm just glad to see that you're safe and that Marcel did not hurt you." Sophie shrugged her shoulders. "And I'm a witch too by the way if that helps."

Sophie sees Bonnie relaxed. "Well, I just barely got away from him. How do you know about Marcel?"

"Everybody in New Orleans knows who Marcel is," Sophie noted, "I know you have just moved here—and that's okay. But the problem is, is that you're in this weird situation and you don't know what the hell is happening because you're a newbie and it is extremely obvious that you do not know what goes on in this town. But I'll be glad to explain to you everything if you tell me what's your game plan here."

Bonnie raised an eyebrow. "No. I am new at this witch thing, and, yes, I do not know what the hell is going on. So you need to explain what's going on so I can make sense of things."

"Well, too bad I asked first, you need to say something." Sophie countered. This girl is a tough bargain.

"I am not saying anything at all." Bonnie stated. "I can make you go away if you're not going to say anything that you planned to say in the first place when you stopped me in the street."

Wow, she really put me in my place like that. "Okay, fine."

Sophie told her everything. From social dynamics between werewolves, vampires, witches, and other supernatural beings in the French Quarter to historical origins of New Orleans. It took her long enough but she describes how Marcel came to power, then how just in the past year the witches lost power due to the Harvest.

"…basically, I find it weird for you to have magic when all of us do not have magic still," Sophie concluded. She folded her arms, leaning against the wall. "Now tell me your side of the story."

"Okay, well things kind of make total sense to me, but anyways." Bonnie began, she made her way towards Sophie, "I just recently discovered my magic. All I know is basic things like moving things, going to different places, or seeing things. Though, while I do have the magic the magic that I have is not stolen magic because I found out about my magic before I got here. Also, I came to New Orleans because of a job opportunity. This whole magic thing was just something unexpected. Though that girl that you were talking about for the Harvest, I see her, and as much as I want her to be alive and all she needs to be a human sacrifice for you and every other witch to have their powers back."

Sophie preyed around Bonnie, eyeing the room. "If you just started magic, what's with all the grimoires in the middle of your living room? I know they're definitely not for décor."

"Those grimoires are just old family grimoires from my mom's side of the family. I don't know my mom's side of the family and my mom left when I was little, so my dad kept my mom's books and he let me keep them entirely so they've been with me since college." Bonnie says. "If you haven't noticed they're in the living room with a bunch of other stuff like clothes because I haven't finished unpacking everything."

She's got a point. And she's obviously right, the girl just moved here. "Okay, okay, yeah that makes sense. I can see. But I would like to ask another question you said you don't know about your mother's side of the family. But do you know, like, names? Like your mom's name or grandma's name?"

"My mom's name is Abby and my grandmother's name is Shelia."

"Okay, anything else? Surname?" Bonnie looked at her, Sophie did something. "I am trying to make a connection here as you can see. For witches, the maternal side of the family is most important since women pass on the magic gene or whatever. It seems like you're being uncooperative or withholding information and all."

"Well, as I said, I do not know my mother's family."

Sophie let out a groan. What type of person doesn't know their mom's family?! "Well, I am trying to see how you ended up with magic and powers like I am trying to make a connection here. Since you do not know your mom's family, what is your full name?"

"Bonnie Shelia McCullough." Sophie let out an anticlimactic sigh.

"Look, I know you're trying to do all this connect the dots thing but, as you can see here, I need to finish organizing and figure out how am I going to do the décor in this place." Bonnie made several strides to the door. She kindly gestured Sophie the way to the exit.

Getting the clue, defeated, Sophie raised her eyebrows. "Okay, I see. Next time, just tell me straight up if I am overstaying my welcome." Sophie opened the door but made sure to get her word in once she's out in the hallway. "Bonnie, if there's anything—absolutely anything or any help that you need, or like some creepy shit that involved magic or something—let me know immediately. I'm a witch, I can help you."

"Uh, yeah." Bonnie's head peeped through the door opening. She nodded in understanding. "I'll let you know. Don't worry."

And with that, the door was closed shut. Sophie was met with a subtle light of air. Did I do something? Did that work? Sophie was just left in deep thought.
