"Guys! We're gonna get flanked! Get down!"
Yuno then aimed her carbine at one of the newcomers' head, and opened fire.
"Suka!"
The Scav fell over dead, his GOST class 3 helmet pierced by three 5.45x39mm rounds from Yuno's carbine. His buddies returned fire - fortunately for Yuno and the veteran BEAR operators she accompanied, they were too enraged by their homie's death to actually hit them - but they ended up being torn to shreds by full automatic fire from Yukki and Anton.
"Hostiles eliminated! Go, go, go!"
As soon as the last Scav stopped twitching, the trio turned their attention back to the group they were fighting earlier. There was much less gunfire coming their way than when they first went back out, but they were still taking serious amounts of fire from outside. Yukki then decided to switch his FAL out for a suppressed M4A1 he took from one of the raiders - and it had a little extra firepower along with it. He had to call for Anton and Yuno to give him covering fire, as he had to detach the rifle from his backpack, and he also had to grab the relevant ammunition from inside.
Once he was done, however, it was the beginning of the end for the Scavs they were fighting.
"Grenade out!"
He then fired two more frag rounds from the underbarrel grenade launcher mounted on the carbine before the firing came to a halt. When the last few Scavs charged forward in a last-ditch attempt to take them down, Yukki switched back to the rifle, took aim and sent a burst of automatic fire at the bandits. They fell down like bowling pins in no time.
"Scavs down!"
"Shit, Yukiteru, that was some good grenadier work you pulled. We've been quite lucky today, eh?"
"Yeah, really lucky. Good job keeping them pinned though."
"Yukki, that was awesome!"
"Not as much as you sniffing out that flanking maneuver though, Yuno. Thanks for the save."
Anton gave Yukki a pat on the back before getting out of the building.
"Let's go, you two. We still have a lot of shit to do."
Yukki and Yuno then followed the veteran BEAR operator as he went up the outside stairs towards the roof. It was an agonizing few minutes for them as they slowly went up the stairs, checking their surroundings for possible threats from time to time.
"I see the antenna. Cover me, I'm moving to it."
"Got it."
Yukki ran as fast as he could towards the first antenna the Mechanic wanted jammed. Once he was there, he pulled out a signal jammer from his rig, placed it on the antenna's base, and activated it. After fifteen seconds, he quickly went back to the stairs and informed Anton that the deed was done.
"Good, now let's get the flying fuck outta here. This place is starting to stink."
The three went down the stairs as fast as they could, making quite an amount of noise in the process. Luckily for them, they were the only ones still up and running in the entire resort complex - but they weren't the only ones still alive in there. As they went out the same way they came in, they came upon the same bunch of drunkards they bumped into earlier.
Fortunately, not only were they still asleep, but they slept through the whole firefight unscathed.
"These guys are still asleep? And uninjured?"
"From the looks of it, yeah."
Yukki then pulled out an empty box of crackers and a pen from his backpack, and wrote something on it in Russian, before consulting with Anton about it. He then put it in one of the sleeping Scavs' hands, and then took point as the team went back to leaving the resort.
"What was that for, love?"
"Returning the favor, baby. They didn't open up on us when they saw us, remember?"
"Oh yeah, right. They were drinking then. They probably thought we were their friends or something."
"Looks like it. Come on, we still have to get to the weather station - the Mechanic wants the antenna there jammed too."
"Got it."
And so the two BEAR operators and the pinkette continued on towards the weather station.
The whole trip to the weather station took the trio around ten minutes to complete, as they had to make some detours, twists, stops, and turns so as to avoid pursuit and detection from any remaining Scavs in the woods surrounding the resort, and take short breaks to catch their breath, check their bearings and gear, and to try and contact Yuri, who was handling the communications inside the hideout.
On the way to the weather station, they stumbled upon a supply cache in a barrel buried underneath the bridge a good distance away. Inside, they found a few cans of meat, two packs of apple juice, two empty thirty-round magazines for AK-74s, a sixty-round pack of 5.45x39mm BS rounds, a fully-loaded Beretta handgun with two extra full mags, and a map of the area with markings indicating the locations of similar stashes in the area.
Yukki immediately began packing rounds into magazines, before putting the Beretta and its magazines inside of his bag, which somehow still had enough space inside.
"Ooh, I wonder what we could find inside of 'em."
"Stupid shit, probably. They might have already been looted by some two-bit third-rate Scavs by the time we find 'em. Cover me, I'm refilling mags."
Once Yukki was done refilling his magazines with ammo, Anton once again took point as the team made their way to the hill where the weather station was. As they reached the base, Yuri managed to get through to them.
"Foxhound, this is Roost Actual, do you read me, over?"
"Foxhound to Roost Actual, I read you loud and clear - is there any new development we should know, over?"
"Affirmative, and it's about the other UN truck you need to find for Peacekeper. I managed to intercept Scav communications again, and they said that they should secure the road to Customs especially the stretch approaching the entrance to the port area, and that they should expect to find yet another truck full of goodies somewhere there. To be exact, they said that the truck was inside the construction area behind the blue fence on the road, the one with the tall crane. This might be the second truck we've been looking for. How are things going on your end, over?"
"Well, we just came out of a big firefight at the resort, where we managed to put plenty of Scavs and raiders down and leave with their shit. We're currently at the base of the hill with the weather station and, frankly, we're itching for another fight, over."
"That's the spirit. Anyway, be advised, some of the communications I intercepted earlier came from there, and the Scavs there are gonna be on alert after what happened at the resort. Proceed with utmost caution. I'll call again if something comes up. Good luck and happy hunting out there. Roost Actual, out."
"Roger that. Foxhound out."
Yuno then asked her companions about what the transmission they received was saying. Apparently, Yuri forgot about Yuno not knowing Russian when he called the trio.
"What is it?"
"Yuri managed to eavesdrop on the Scavs again. He says that they might have found the second UN truck."
"So, where is it, Yukki?"
"It's inside a construction area near the road to Customs, around the stretch leading to the port entrance. You'll see it when we're there."
"Oh, okay."
They then began going up the hill, being careful as to not make too much noise. As they moved closer to the weather station, they could hear the panic in the Scavs' voices whenever they speak or give orders.
Apparently, the firefight at the resort had them spooked, especially since some of their homies might have been there.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out that these Scavs were armed with Saiga semi-automatic shotguns, some Mosins with at least one equipped with a scope, and a few AK carbines with ten-round magazines. Some of the Scavs had Makarov pistols in their holsters. A few of them had stolen UNTAR body armor and helmets on, with the rest either donning stolen bank guard vests (Module 3M) and riot helmets - which provided basically no protection whatsoever against the military-grade ammunition Yukki and company had loaded in their magazines - or not wear any armor at all, deciding that speed, hard cover and the darkness of the night would be their best protection against gunfire.
Too bad for them, the trio were all equipped with night vision goggles. At this point, Yukki switched back to his suppressed AK-74M, having refilled the magazines for it with fresh ammo. After reattaching the M4A1 to his backpack, he heard voices coming closer towards them. Soon enough, a pair of Scavs showed themselves, presumably on patrol.
"Two Scavs dead ahead, coming right at us. Should we light them up now?"
The bandits continued on, unaware of the armed BEAR operators aiming at them ahead.
"Get 'em."
"Roger that."
Yukki and Yuno immediately opened up on the approaching pair of Scavs, while Anton poured fire upon another pair of Scavs guarding the gate into the radar station. Once all four targeted Scavs were killed, the other Scavs began firing wildly at random bushes and trees, mistaking them for - and giving away their positions to - the trio.
"Take position across the road! I'm covering!"
As the lovers moved into position, Anton turned his machine gun on the radar tower, where two Scavs armed with Mosins were taking potshots at them from. A long burst of fire ensured that the two sniper wannabes would no longer get in their way, with one even falling from the tower. He was already dead even before his body hit the ground.
By the time the lovebirds got across, the Scavs had already deduced the trio's positions, and positioned themselves accordingly. Due to the darkness, however, the Scavs were having a hard time aiming at the three, while the night vision-equipped trio could easily see them and the muzzle flashes their guns were producing. Yukki and Yuno then began firing at the Scavs trying to suppress Anton as he continued to let burst upon burst loose on them.
"Cover me, love, I need to reload!"
"Got it!"
While Yuno was frantically searching her rig for full magazines, Yukki kept on unloading on every human silhouette and muzzle flash that he saw in front of him. After a few more seconds, Yukki's rifle clicked empty. It was his turn to change magazines. And then Yuno spotted yet another flanking maneuver.
"Yukki! Three Scavs coming in from our ten o'clock! They're trying to flank us!"
He decided to not reload his rifle then and pull out his Grach - the same pistol he used to teach Yuno earlier in the day.
The Scavs were firing from the hip the whole time they were moving, which ruined their already low accuracy even further.
Yukki then immediately fired upon the approaching scavengers, instantly killing one with three shots to his unprotected chest and one to his hat-covered head, knocking another out cold with four hits each to his UNTAR helmet-covered noggin and armored chest, and rendering the last man ineffective with two hits on his left arm, three hits on the right, and one in his right hand, which forced him to drop his shotgun. The operator took this opportunity to reload both his rifle and his pistol, while his lover, who had already finished reloading by then and was firing on the other Scavs inside the weather station, finished the wounded man off with three hits to the head from her carbine.
"Scavs down!"
"Go, go, go!"
As Anton continued to provide covering fire, Yukki and Yuno began to push forward and get inside the wire, sending burst after burst of 5.45x39mm rounds towards every Scav they saw. Upon reaching cover, it was Anton's turn to move inside as the lovebirds suppressed the remaining Scavs, who had holed up inside the building.
"I'm gonna flush these rats out, Yukki! Cover me!"
"Get 'em, baby!"
As Yukki and Anton fired into the windows, Yuno grabbed a hand grenade from her rig, pulled the pin and threw it into a window on the second floor, before grabbing another grenade from her rig, pulling the pin, and then throwing it into the open doorway.
"Grenades out! Take cover!"
An explosion was heard from inside the building a few seconds later, which was almost immediately followed by another one, with the pained screams of grievously injured and dying Scavs coming after that.
"Move! I'll cover the second floor windows!"
Yukki then made his way inside, where he was tackled to the ground by two heavily injured Scavs, with blood trickling down their faces and arms, seeking to take down at least one of their killers with them.
"SHIT!"
"YUKKI!"
The dying scavengers used the last of their strength to try and stab the BEAR operator to death with their knives, but all they could manage was slash his arms and legs, and an occasional fist or two to the man's face. Yukki, meanwhile, was struggling to land blows to the dying men's faces and get enough wiggle room to hopefully get his sidearm and blow their fucking heads off at the same time.
"FUCK OFF, SCUM!"
A third wounded Scav joined in, and he began trying to stomp Yukki' s head flat with his only good leg.
"DIE, BITCH, DIE!"
"GET OFF OF ME, YOU FUCKING PIECES OF SHIT!"
A few moments later, the bleeding Scavs heard the most terrifying thing they had ever heard in their lives. They had drawn the short straw, and now the angel of death was coming for them.
"GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF MY YUKKIIII!"
Yuno started by tackling the Scav trying to bash Yukki's face in with his foot. Once the dying man was knocked to the floor, she then turned her attention to the two Scavs who initially knocked Yukki down. She let out what Anton later described as a blood-curdling scream, and then whaled on the first Scav she could reach. The dying man put up a fight with the last of his fleeting strength - even managing to land a pair of hard jabs on Yuno's face - but Yuno's lovesick rage eventually got the better of him as she took his knife from his left hand and stabbed him repeatedly in the chest with it until he stopped twitching.
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! YOU HURT MY YUKKIII! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!"
The other Scav then went back to beating Yukki up, but by then he had already managed to get enough breathing room to get his pistol. Yukki then emptied his pistol magazine on the poor little fuck's chest, ensuring that he wouldn't be troubling them again.
"DIE, MOTHERFUCKER! DIE! DIE! DIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!"
The last Scav came to his senses just as Yuno was done poking holes into his dead homie's chest cavity. He then pulled his Makarov pistol from his holster and opened fire, but he only managed to graze the young woman's arm and hit her beloved right in the arnored chest rig.
"FUCK, I'M HIT!"
"YUUUKKKKIIIIIIIIII!"
Yuno then turned towards the wounded bandit, and let out yet another horrifying howl as she lunged on the man, hellbent on murdering him.
"Get off of me, demon!"
The Scav then began trying to land punches on Yuno's face to knock her out long enough for him to shoot her in the head, but the enraged, lovesick young woman was simply too much for him to handle. His screams of pain and anguish were drowned out by Yuno's rage, declaring that this was his punishment for hurting her one true love.
By this time, Yukki had managed to recover from getting knocked down by three 9x18 Makarov rounds to his armored chest. He then got back up, picked up his rifle, went over to the Scav who tried to stomp his head flat a few moments earlier, and began applying his boot to the dipshit's bloodied head, who at that point was very, very close to dying thanks to Yuno repeatedly stabbing him in the chest, just like his homie a few minutes ago.
"DIE, YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!"
In his rage, he somehow failed to notice that his beloved Yuno was there, staring at him, panting heavily, and with tears of anger and relief streaming down her beautiful face, which was dirtied by the blood of the two men she had stabbed to death. He stopped only when he saw that already managed to cave the poor little asswipe's head in, obliterating his ugly bloody mug. He then saw that the sole of his boot had a few teeth and bone fragments jabbed into it, and it was also covered in blood. Horrified at what he had done, he collapsed on the floor, unable to get his eyes off his gory footwork. He also managed to drop his rifle again.
"Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fu-"
"Yuuukkiiiiiiiiii!"
Yuno came over to him and brought him into her tight embrace, sobbing into his armored tactical rig upon doing so. She tried to ask Yukki how was he holding up, but she couldn't seem to get herself together and speak anything resembling a coherent sentence. The lovers failed to notice that the gunfire had stopped, and that Anton was making his way inside.
"The fuck happened here? Are you alright, Snowman?"
And then Anton saw everything.
"Oh God. What the fuck happened here? Are you two alright? What happened?"
Yukki was still trembling as he tried to answer Anton.
"I got jumped by a bunch of Scavs. Fuckers almost got me too, had Yuno not rushed in and whaled on these fucks like a beast."
Anton then turned his gaze towards the young woman holding his comrade in her arms. He could clearly see the blood, tears and bruises on her face and hands, and she was still crying even after the threat had long passed.
"I'm sorry I took so long Yukki... I should've gone in with you..."
She didn't say anything about what she exactly did to the Scavs, or what Yukki did to the last one, but Yukki knew all too well what Yuno was capable of - and what she did earlier.
"It's fine, you were just in time. It's my fault for rushing in alone anyway, so I guess I should apologize for that."
It was at this point that Anton pulled on Yukki's armored rig, as if he was motioning for him to stand up.
"Enough pep talk, lovebirds. Get up, we still have a truck to find..."
And then Anton pointed at the antenna dish outside.
"...and an antenna or two to jam. Get your shit together, we can't afford to fuck up like that next time."
Yukki then took a bottle of water and a clean cloth from his backpack, splashed some of the stuff onto Yuno's bloodied face, and wiped her clean with the cloth, which was soon dirtied with the blood of the Scavs she killed.
He then turned to his boot and wiped the red sludge off until all that was left were the bone fragments and the teeth from the now-dead Scav he was stomping earlier.
Once the young warrior was finished cleaning up, Anton handed Yukki his rifle back, before taking a jammer from his rig and going outside to place the jammer on the antenna. Before he went back out, Anton pointed to the horrifically disfigured dead Scav and said some choice words to the young operator.
"Take it easy next time - stomping one of these fuckers' heads drains too much energy."
"I know."
Yukki then gave Yuno her rifle back - having dropped it when she tackled the caved-in Scav to the ground - and gave her a quick peck to the lips as thanks for earlier.
"Let's go upstairs - we might be able to find some useful stuff there. And we might be able to cover Anton better from the high ground."
As he turned to go upstairs, Yuno grabbed Yukki by his tactical rig and pulled him towards her.
"What is it?"
The young woman spoke no words as she took the young operator's head in her hands and kissed him deeply. At first he wanted to break off immediately and continue going upstairs to cover Anton, but soon enough he took his beloved's head in his hands and returned the kiss.
After what turned out to be ten seconds, Yuno broke off and checked her carbine for any damage.
Looks like it still works.
As Yukki asked her what was the kiss for, Anton was outside the window, motioning for the two to get upstairs and provide overwatch for him.
"I'm just glad you're alright, my love."
"Me too, baby, me too. Thanks for the save again, Yuno. Dunno how I could've survived that without you."
"Like I once said before, Yukki, I'd do everything to protect you. Everything."
"That's the spirit."
The veteran operator then motioned for the young woman to cover his rear as they went upstairs. Upon reaching the second floor, Yukki gave Anton the signal for him to begin placing the jammer.
Under Yukki and Yuno's watchful eyes, the machine gunner immediately headed for the antenna the Mechanic needed jammed, activated the jammer, placed it at the antenna's base, and immediately went back inside the building, where he trained his RPK at the entrance to the station for fifteen seconds. Once the time had passed, he went back outside and motioned for the lovebirds to get off the roof.
"You found anything interesting on the second floor?"
"No, it's empty - the electronics are all gone, the shelves are empty, and I don't think we can take whatever the dead Scavs had on them."
"Everything that's still inside is unusable trash you can't even use to trade for something even remotely useful."
"Alright, you two get down here as soon as you can - time is running."
The couple wasted no time heading down the stairs as Anton kept checking the flanks for any intruders. Once the lovers had returned to the ground floor, the veteran operator went back inside the building to discuss their next course of action.
"That's two out of three. The last one's over there-"
Anton pointed to the radio tower barely towering over the trees in the distance.
"-and we would likely have an easier time getting there, since we don't have to worry about Scavs roaming that part of town. However, it's further away from here than the second UN truck, which is just around south of here. It's closer, but we also run the risk of running into those fucking Scavs again. Do you guys still have enough ammo?"
The trio then simultaneously checked their magazines to see how much ammo their guns still had loaded, and then they checked their rigs and backpacks for additional full magazines.
"Shit. This only has around seven rounds left in it, and I only have one more full magazine before I run dry. The FAL, M4 and P90 have at least two full mags each, plus the magazines already loaded to 'em. As for pistols, I still have an extra mag for the Grach, three for the Five-Seven I took earlier, and the two extra mags for the Beretta in the stash we found earlier."
"Uh, guys, I think I'm on my last AK magazine. The other guns I took from the dead guys earlier have at least two magazines each, and my unused pistol has three extra mags."
"Well, my drum's totally dry, I only have two full sixty-rounders left, this one still has at least forty rounds, and the Stechkin has three extras, same for the AKM, HK416 and the MP5 I took earlier. Do you still have grenades for the M203, Yukiteru?"
"Three, at the very least. I'm out of hand grenades, though."
At this point Yuno reached into her backpack and pulled out two M67 fragmentation grenades from it, then handed them over to Yukki.
"Thanks, Yuno."
"You're always welcome, my love."
She then switched out her Kalashnikov carbine for a suppressed M4A1 she took from one of the raiders they killed earlier. This prompted Yukki to switch from his suppressed Kalashnikov rifle to the grenadier M4A1 he used earlier, making sure to put a fresh magazine in it.
"Hey, Yuno, do you know how to work that thing?"
"Yeah, Yukki, I think... I just took a mental note of what you did to your carbine when you first pulled it out, that's all."
After a few more minites of repacking gear and planning, the three finally made their way out of the weather station, leaving behind a bloody mess as they went to secure the second UN truck.
Minutes later, Anton motioned for the two to halt and go low.
"I see the crane behind the fence now. There's six Scavs on the road, and they look like they mean business."
"What'd they have?"
"I see two guys with 6B47 helmets and soft body armor under their tactical rigs, one guy with an UNTAR helmet and journalist armor under his tactical rig, and the last three have steel helmets and old Afghan-era body armor with matching belt rigs. Two of them have what appears to be AKMs, the blue helmet guy has an AK carbine with a thirty-rounder, one of the Afghan cosplayers has a full-length AKS-74 with the dust cover missing, and the last two guys carry scoped Vepr Hunters. I see a mix of Makarovs and Tokarevs in their holsters and waistbands."
"Yep, they mean business, alright. What do we do with 'em?"
"Me and princess pink here are gonna pin them down with automatic fire, while you frag these suckers with that grenade launcher of yours. Sounds simple, right?"
"Yeah. I think I can make this shot, they don't seem too far."
"I hope you're right, Yukiteru."
Soon enough, the three took position a good distance from the road and went prone, hoping that the Scavs failed to see them.
"On three. One, two..."
Suddenly, around eight more Scavs exited the construction area and went to the boys on the road, presumably talking about the truck's contents. Deciding that it was alreadt too late to back out, Anton made the call.
"Three."
The first few Scavs to fall never saw it coming. A hail of lead fell upon them seemingly out of nowhere, immediately followed by a thumping sound not far away. The veterans quickly ran like hell for solid cover, while the new meat just laid down there and shot back until it was way too late.
"Kaboom!"
Three Scavs instantly died from the explosion and the shrapnel it produced, while a few more took serious damage to their limbs. The wounded men tried to crawl away under their homies' own fire, but accurate fire from Anton and Yuno ensured thay they wouldn't live to see sunrise. At this point, Yukki fired another grenade at the remaining Scavs, and then he switched to the rifle and started to send burst after burst of automatic fire onto the Scavs' positions.
The Scavs tried very hard to bring the unseen attackers down - a tall task to pull off in the darkness of the night against targets armed with suppressed weapons - but they couldn't even land a glancing shot on the enemy, while the trio picked them off with accurate bursts one by one. Soon enough, the last Scav standing decided that he was done hiding, and stood up, firing his rifle wildly in the general direction of the enemy.
He was lit up instantly.
"Cease fire, cease fire, all Scavs have been neutralized. "
"Roger that."
Once the guns fell silent, the trio wasted no time getting to the construction area, where they found that the UN truck was already partially ransacked by the Scavs.
"Shit, looks like we're too late."
"Yeah, but at the same time there's still plenty of relief supplies in them. Hopefully there's still enough for the Blue Helmets to give to the people.."
Anton then took another beacon from his pockets, activated it, placed it somewhere inconspicuous on the truck, and waited for ten seconds before motioning for Yukki and Yuno to follow him out of the construction area.
After collecting the dead scavengers' half-mask bandanas, the trio then continued on the road, encountering no resistance whatsoever, with no sign of the presence of other PMC operators around. Just before they reached the exit, they took a detour to the left, and made their way to the radio tower.
Upon arriving there, Yukki handed Yuno a signal jammer, hoped she knew what she was doing, and covered her as she planted it on the base of the tower. Once they were sure that the jammer was working, they hurriedly went to the exit, and headed for the entrance to the region's tunnel network.
As soon as they got a bit deeper into the tunnels, the trio stopped to take a short break - and to celebrate a job well done.
Around six hours later...
"Good morning, motherfuckers! Wake up and smell the - uhh..."
"What is it, Vasily?"
"Well, there's this cracker box in my hand, and I don't remember eating crackers last night, so why is there - wait, something's written in here!"
One of their buddies hurriedly came back to them after doing his usual rounds once he woke up.
"Shit!"
"Is something up, Shuster? You look unusually tired for someone who just got up."
"You wouldn't believe this shit, homie, but it looks like everybody's fucking dead. Everybody. Is. Fucking. Dead."
As the rest of the crew woke up, they began to look around, and sure enough, they saw signs of a massive firefight that happened last night. A massive firefight that they somehow slept through unscathed. Must be all that vodka we drank, one of the Scavs thought.
"Fuck! Everybody IS dead! What the fuck do we do now? Where do we fucking go?"
"Hold up, motherfuckers! Here's what's written on the fucking cracker box that ended up in my hand!"
"Shut the fuck up, everybody! Vasily's talking!"
Everyone's dead, homie. Take this chance to grab anything useful that you can carry and get the fuck outta here. You better hurry up though, UNTAR will be all over the place by 8 AM. That's all. Hopefully we could chill outside of this hellhole once this whole shitshow is done.
- a friend
"You heard the fucker, now haul ass and grab all the shit you can carry! We're getting the fuck outta here!"
"Move in pairs! And don't overload your fucking asses! We have to move as fast as we can, or else we'll be breakfast for those fucking Blue Helmets!"
The Scav crew - ten men in total - went running back and forth, checking every corpse they came upon for anything useful. It took them around two and a half hours before they were all back at their campsite, all geared up and ready to move.
"Pike to Mouse, do you copy? Pike to Mouse, are you there? Damnit, I can't raise our guys at the weather station!"
And then, another Scav went running towards them, visibly tired and in no condition to fight. They didn't raise their guns at him, as they recognized him as one of their own.
"Tankist?"
"What the fuck..."
"Guys, guys... Help... me..."
The man collapsed in front of the group as the leader of the outfit pulled out a bunch of emergency supplies and did whatever he could to help his homeboy out. Once he was feeling better, he then started asking him.
"What the fuck happened at the weather station, Tankist?"
"UNTAR... fucked us up last night... I'm the only survivor... I got knocked out cold by pistol bullets to my helmet and vest... What the fuck happened here, guys?"
"A big fucking fight, I'm not sure how it happened but we somehow slept through the shit unharmed. Let's get the fuck out of here, UNTAR's coming for the truck."
The eleven-man cohort then packed up their tents and sleeping bags, checked their new weapons and gear, and then got out as fast as they could. As the last three Scavs - the ringleader, his deputy and the newcomer, with the latter having to be carried by the two - got out of the resort complex and got to the surrounding woods, a platoon of UN peacekeepers began entering the complex.
The Scav crew then made a few twists and turns to shake off potential pursuers, before sneaking into the shipping terminal, where a boat was waiting for them to pick them up should shit hit the fan.
Every single one of them made it out alive.
I guess I should say something about the fact that this fic has been up for more than TWO years now, huh?
Nah, I'll save a lot for another time, apart from this:
To those who silently read, follow and like this work of mine,
to those who enjoy and have enjoyed this story,
from the bottom of my heart,
Thank you very, very much.
See y'all once again in the next chapter, I guess. Needle Gunner out.
