"Mom.."
Carol blinked. She looked down, and saw Tko holding onto her. "Mom..who is that..?" Tko said. She looked ahead, and saw Shadowy standing in front of them. He started walking closer, and Carol picked Tko.
She started running, but he kept getting closer. She felt Tko trembling, and held him close. "Don't worry..it'll be oka..." He was gone. Her eyes widened as she looked in front of her.
Shadowy was holding Tko, and he placed his hand onto his chest. An attack started to form, then he grinned. Tko started crying as Shadowy's attack became bigger. He was going to die.
"Mom..Mom..."
"MOM!"
Carol's eyes shot open. Tko was jumping on her bed, glaring at her. "Wake up."
"Tko..what are you doing..?" She asked. "Fink said I had to wake you up early, because it's a school day?" He said.
"Oh." She sat up, and he gave a concerned look. "Are you okay? Did you have a nightmare or something?" He asked. "I'm alright, it's just that your screaming is loud." She chuckled.
"Well you're a heavy sleeper, I spent 5 minutes screaming your name. I think the neighbors are mad." Some people were yelling at him to shut up, but he just screamed louder.
"Well, you have to get ready, you're going to school too." Carol said. He narrowed his eyes at her. "I..I have to go to school..?" He asked. "Yep. Since you live with me now, you have to do school."
"But mooooooom..I don't need school!" He pouted. "You don't know how to read, you obviously need it." She said. "What!? I know how to read! It's Ko who doesn't know how to read." Tko got an idea.
"..But..I guess I can go to school." He said. "You have about..an hour to get ready, okay?" Tko nodded, and ran out of the room. Carol watched happily, that was easy.
He ran back into the bedroom, and hopped on his bed. He threw the covers over him, and shut his eyes.
When he woke up, he was in front of the cage again. Ko was asleep, so he kicked the bars of the cage. "Wake up dummy." He said. Ko woke up, then gave a confused look. "Tko..? What are you doing here?" He asked.
"I was wondering..do you wanna go to school?" Tko asked. Ko's eyes lit up, and he started jumping up and down excitedly. "Yes yes! I wanna go to school!" He cheered. Seeing Ko this happy made Tko start to regret this, he would probably make him look like a fool. It would be worth it though, school is horrible.
He unlocked the cage, the Ko ran out. He stretched, being free from the cage once again was amazing. Just before he teleported out, he saw Tko crawl into the cage. "What are you doing..?" He asked.
"I have to sit here until the day's over, right?" Tko asked as he started closing the door. "Well..I don't think so." Ko said. He started thinking, sitting here in darkness all day was just..wrong.
"What if..I make a house?" Ko suggested. "A house..?" Tko watched as a house appeared behind him. He stared at it with wide eyes, then Ko opened the door to the cage. "Sitting in here isn't fun." Ko said.
He helped him out, and then ran into the house. It was empty, but that was alright. Ko spent a few minutes making things for the house. When he finished, they both liked the result.
There were two beds. One for Ko, and one for Tko. There was a kitchen, bean bags, and tons of videos game. This place would help whoever's in the mindscape get through the day.
Tko flopped onto his bed, it was soft. "Do you like it?" Ko asked. "It's..nice." Tko said. Ko smiled, then sat on his bed. "Hey..I'm sorry." Tko said. "For..?"
"For treating you like garbage. It wasn't your fault for what happened, you were so young. You didn't know what was right or wrong, I can't blame you for that." Tko said. He felt embarrassed after that, he never apologized with so much care before.
"Did mommy help you realize that?" Ko asked. "Accept my apology, or you'll never get one again." Tko demanded. "I accept!" Ko giggled. He hopped off his bed, and waved goodbye to Tko. "Thanks for letting me go to school!" Ko smiled, and teleported out.
When he was outside, he pushed the covers off and Fink was standing in front of him. "Tko! You gotta get ready for school!" She said. "It's Ko!" Ko said as he hopped off the bed. He put on his headband, and threw on an outfit.
"Tko let you out..? Why?" Fink asked. "For school!" Ko said. Fink shrugged, this was nice. She wanted to hang out with Ko more, and now she has a chance.
She helped him pack a backpack, then they ran out of the room. Carol was sitting on the couch waiting for them. "Morning, Mommy!" Ko greeted. "Ko?" Carol asked. He nodded, and she narrowed her eyes.
"Did Tko let you out so you could go to school for him..?" Carol asked. "Yep!" She sighed, it wasn't as easy as she thought. It was okay though, at least he was getting outside.
On the way there, Fink looked inside her backpack. She packed the glorb, and Shadowy's pow card. She was hoping Dendy could help her learn more about them.
The arrived at the school, and they got out op the car. "Bye Carol! See you later!" Fink waved. Carol waved back, and drove off. "Come on Ko!" Fink said. Ko smiled, then they ran inside.
When they made it to class, Fink and Ko places there's bags down. Fink dragged Ko to where he desk was. "You can sit...here!" Fink pointed to the seat next to hers. Ko sat down, and smiled.
He had never been to school before, this was amazing to him. Fink patiently waited, Ko was confused on what she was waiting for. The door opened, and a Kappa entered. The kappa waved at Fink, then Fink waved back.
"Who's that?" Ko asked. "My friend, Dendy!" Fink said. Dendy dat down at her desk, and looked at Ko. "Hello, are you new?" She asked. "Yep! I'm Ko!" He smiled. "It is nice to meet you, Ko." Dendy smiled back.
Ms. Quantum entered the class, which made everyone get quiet. "Hello class, did you have a good weekend?" She asked. They all said yes in unison. Ms. Quantum eyed Ko. "It appears we have a new student, introduce yourself."
Ko looked at Fink for help. "Just tell them a few things about yourself, it's easy." Fink whispered. Ko nodded, then stood up. "My name is Ko! Im gonna be a hero!" He cheered. The class was excited after he said that, they loved heroes.
Ko smiled, then sat back down. He felt like he shouldn't have said the last part, because he heard faint yelling coming from Tko. "Hey..relax." He muttered. After he said that, Tko calmed down after a few seconds.
"Dendy, can you help me with something?" Fink asked. "What do you need help with?" Fink pulled out the glorb and the pow card. "Do you know anything about glorbs?" She asked.
Dendy examined the glorb. "Yes. Glorbs are used to give robots life. They can also help you access a turbonic form." Dendy stated. That caught Ko's attention, he looked at them. "Turbonic form..?" He said.
"Do you know what that is?" Fink asked. "Yeah..Tko.." He said. "T..ko..? You have a turbonic form? How? You do not have any special accessories to help you access it, so.."
"It's a long story. I don't really want to talk about it either.." Ko frowned and turned away from them. Fink frowned, she felt bad bringing it up. Dendy however, was intrigued.
"Uh..do you know who he is?" Fink showed Dendy the pow card. "No, I do not, but I can find out." Dendy took the pow card, and plugged it into her hack pack. Data popped up, but when she clicked it the hack pack exploded. They swatted the smoke away, and unplugged the card.
"Dendy. Fink. What are those?" They jumped, and saw Ms. Quantum standing over them. "Uh...toys.." Fink lied. "Give them to me." She held out her hand, and Fink gave her the glorb. "And the card." Fink hesitated, but handed it to her. "I'll be calling Carol, and she can pick them up at the end of the day."
"What!? No! Please no, just give them back to me! I'm gonna get in trouble!" Fink cried. "I don't care." Ms. Quantum placed them in a door, and started to teach the class.
Fink sighed in defeat. Once Carol finds out about this, she's dead.
It was the end of the day. Fink and Ko had to wait for Carol to come. "School was so fun!" Ko said. Fink wasn't listening, she was anxious. She had no idea how Carol would feel. She lied, stole, and put herself in danger. Carol would be furious
"Fink?" Ko tapped her shoulder. "Huh? Oh, sorry..what were you saying?" Fink asked. "I said that school is fun. Are you okay?" He asked. "Mm..kinda. I'm just really sca-" Before she could finish, Carol entered.
"Hello Ms. Quantum. You wanted me to come here?" Carol said. She looked at Fink and Ko. Ko waved, and Fink looked away. "Earlier Fink was playing with these in class." Ms. Quantum pulled out the glorb and the pow card.
Carol stared at them and narrowed her eyes. "I'll have a talk with her when I get home. I'll make sure she doesn't do it again." Carol gave a smile. Quantum nodded, and handed Carol the stuff.
Carol placed them in her purse, then looked at Ko and Fink. "Come on, lets go." She said. Fink could tell from the tone of her voice, she was upset. She walked out of the room, then Fink and Ko followed.
On the drive home, they were silent for a while. Carol decided to break to silence. "Ko, how was school?" She asked. "It was so fun! I learned lots of stuff, and I made a new friend! Her name is Dendy!" Ko beamed.
"That's wonderful!" Carol smiled. Things got quiet again, Carol didn't even ask Fink how her day was. She was terrified, would Carol yell at her? That would horrible..Carol never yells at Fink.
They made it back. Carol lead them inside, and Ko sat on the couch. "We'll be out in a little bit, okay?" Ko nodded. Carol motioned Fink to follow her into her room. Once inside, Carol shut the door and the sat down.
"Did you go to the Glorb Sanctuary?" Carol asked. "Yes." Fink said. "Why?" "Cause..it was a bit suspicious the way you left and didn't leave a note." Fink said. "So, you also saw me get into the fight with.." "Shadowy Figure."
Carol blinked. "You know his name..?" Carol asked. Fink pulled the pow card out of Carol's purse, and handed it to her. "He must've dropped it." Fink said. Carol examined the card, then sighed.
"You shouldn't have followed me. You could've gotten hurt, and he knows about you now. Also, you shouldn't have stolen this glorb." Carol stared at the glorb, and handed it to Fink. "Don't lie to me again."
"Well, I kinda didn't lie. Dendy taught me new stuff about glorbs. They help you access a turbo form or something like that..kinda like Tko." Fink said. "Interesting. That means you should keep it, you may need it in the future." Carol said.
Fink nodded. "Just a question..how come you never tell me about..me..?" She asked. "Because you never asked?" Carol said. Fink stiffened. Tko was right, all she had to do was ask.
"Well, can you tell me now?" Fink asked. "Of course." Fink smiled, she was finally gonna get to know everything.
"About a year after Ko was taken away, I started working on secret missions for POINT. My job is to protect to Glorb Tree, and make sure no villains take the glorbs. When I was headed to the sanctuary, I found you in the sewers. I don't know how long you were there, but I knew it wasn't safe for you to be alone."
"I took you home with me, and cared for you for about a month. I was planning to set you free, but I was lonely. Caring for you brought back the feeling I had with Ko, so I kept you." Carol finished.
"Wow.." Fink said. She always thought it would be something dark, but it was really nice. "So..you work for POINT?" Fink asked. Carol nodded. "I have to check on the tree every few months, but I may need to start checking on it more. Shadowy will most likely be around more now." Carol said.
"Wait..why?" Fink asked. "Well.." She was cut off when Tko opened the door. "Mom. Are you gonna make dinner?" He asked. "Yep, I'll be out there in a second." Carol said. "Let's talk about this later, okay?" Carol asked. Fink nodded, and they left the room.
"Aw..you took over already? I wanted to talk to Ko." Carol frowned. "Yeah. I said I'd only let him out for the school day." Tko said. "You didn't lock him away again..did you?" She asked.
Tko shook his head. "We made a house before school. Instead of staying in the cage, we can stay in the house. It was Ko's idea." He said. "Wow, you two already agreed on something! I'm so proud." Carol smiled.
Tko rolled his eyes, but he was also proud of himself.
Fink was lying in bed. It was late and she should've been asleep, but she couldn't. She stared at Shadowy's pow card. There were so many things she wanted to learn about him. The one thing she was worried about, was how Carol said he would be around more.
She forgot to ask about it after dinner. She put the pow card in a box, then looked at Tko. She smiled, recently he seemed more..happy. Everything seemed so much more relaxing, and it was great.
Tko and Ko were jumping on their beds. They wanted to see who could jump the highest, so far they were at the same height. "I'll win!" Ko shouted. Tko growled and put force into his next jump, which broke the bed and got him stuck in the ceiling.
"Wow.." Ko fixed his bed, then pulled him out of the ceiling. "Thanks." Tko said. Ko fixed the ceiling, and sat down. "Today was fun! Are you gonna go to school tomorrow?" He asked.
"Probably not, your classmates only care about heroes. If they saw me, they'd probably cry." That made Tko chuckle. "Hey..you're not a villain anymore. That's what you were forced to be, now you can choose your own path." Ko said.
Tko smiled. Even if he hated how positive he could be, this made him feel nice. "Do you think we'll ever see him again..?" Ko asked. Ko was talking about Venomous. Tko was doing his best to forget Venomous, but it seems like he can't.
"I don't think so. We're gonna live our life without worry, okay?" Tko said with a smile. Ko smiled back.
"Yeah!"
