Disclaimer: I don't own Y&R. I just play around with the characters ;)

Just a one-shot for my #Amilly indulgence. Phyllis will make an appearance because I like their friendship. Hope you all enjoy.

"Go out with me." blurted out Amanda when she still felt the courage to do so. She could see Nate's face transform into that of surprise and she didn't blame the guy. This came out of nowhere. Here they were, sitting in Crimson lights talking about Jared and the new clinic and she had just asked him out.
She knew Nate was attracted to her. He had hinted to it a number of times and if she was being frank, she was attracted to him too. He was a handsome man after all, charming, had a great career and would be considered by most as a catch.
The problem was she was attracted to Billy too and with Billy it was more than just an attraction. There was an undeniable chemistry between them, a spark she hadn't felt in a long time. She enjoyed talking to him, sharing stories, laughing and when he was not there, she found herself missing him.
It was as clear as day where their 'friendship' was leading especially when she had asked him to stay during the storm, the way he had comforted her after her nightmare, how it felt waking up with him beside her. It was inevitable then that they would kiss and it had felt so amazing. The way he touch her ever so gently, gave her time to move away or refuse…but how could she? She had wanted it so bad and frankly, if he had hadn't left, she was sure they would have made love.
That scared her.
The way she was feeling for him was too intense, too consuming. She couldn't, not after Ripley and his drama. Billy wouldn't be an improvement. He brought his own set of problems namely Victoria, the Newman Family (who already didn't like her and blamed her for breaking the couple up) and his spontaneous, thrill seeking behaviour.
No.
She needed calm. She needed safe and Nate was just the guy.

"What?" said Nate surprised thinking that maybe he hadn't heard her properly.

"Have dinner with me some time." said Amanda her resolve tightening.

"As in a date." Nate asked needing clarity. He had always thought Amanda was beautiful but then who didn't? But since their chat when she said she wasn't ready to date, he had not tried to pursue anything. He still looked out for her and hoped one day something might happen. Looks like that 'one day' might be today and he was ecstatic.

"Yes. Not tonight of course but maybe weekend?" said Amanda now feeling nervous. Maybe he didn't feel the same and this could turn out to be really embarrassing.

"Sure." Said Nate with a smile. "I would like that."

Amanda smiled back then said, "I got to go. I have some stuff to do."

"Of course. I will get back to you with the details of our date."

Amanda smiled at him and then she walked out. Yes. She had done the right thing.

Billy watched the phone ring again for the 4th time that night till it went to voicemail and he almost flung it away in frustration. For days now she wasn't picking up his calls, she wasn't appearing at their usual meeting places and even though he had left a dozen voicemails, she didn't respond.

He had thought he and Amanda were going somewhere after all their conversations, especially after that amazing kiss. He knew now that he shouldn't have left. He should have stayed, kissed her some more, talked to her, anything but leaving. He had thought he was doing them a favour. After all, with the way he was feeling, having her warm lips on his, tasting her sweetness, feeling her small hands on him, he knew, he would have carried her to the bed and made love to her. Now she was ignoring him and it hurt. He wasn't giving up.

Amanda was a jewel, someone special. A light in his otherwise dim life. He couldn't have her running from him, from them like that not when they were just discovering each other. He could understand why she was running though. Who could blame her? She had just had a crazy ex-boyfriend who wanted to kill her not to mention he had told her most things about himself, most of it not pretty. Who would want to tangle with that? He needed to speak to her, to lay his case, to make her see and believe that they could be together. That she shouldn't fear him. Picking up his jacket, he left him suite.

Amanda flinched when she heard a knock on her door. Sitting up she looked at the door as if it would suddenly vanish and reveal who was outside. 3 more knocks and Billy's voice wafted through.

"Amanda, it's me, Billy. I know you are in there."

She stood from the bed and walked slowly to toward the door, her arms wrapped around herself as if to physically stop herself from reaching out and opening the door.

"You haven't been picking up my calls and I am worried about you. I just need to talk to you and see if you are ok." there was silence then one word, "Please."

Amanda could hear the desperation in his voice and it pained her so much. She walked slowly to the door and held the doorknob. She wanted so bad to open the door, to let him in and see him, talk to him but she knew what opening that door meant and she wasn't ready for that.

She heard him sigh and then say, "I am going to go now but just know if you need anything, I am here for you, as your friend."

There was another moment of silence then she heard footsteps of him leaving. She slumped down on the floor, her back against the door, and her knees to her chest as she felt her heart break. She felt a sense of loss and she didn't think Nate fill that and make it better.

"I cannot believe you are going on a date, miss I am looking for anyone at the moment…." teased Phyllis as they looked around a boutique for the perfect dress.
Amanda had just texted her to meet her here and now she was finding out her friend was going on a date! Juicy! "Actually I can believe it. I have seen the way the good doctor looks at you. Maybe we need to visit Victoria's secret after this."

"Phyllis!" said Amanda mortified looking to see if anyone heard her. Her best friend could be too much at times.

"What? We are grown-ups and we know what goes on."

"I am not having this conversation."

Phyllis laughed out loud. Riling up her friend was way too easy. "So where is he taking you?" asked Phyllis curiously.

"Perth (I made up that restaurant)"

"Oooohh fancy…" said Phyllis impressed. It was an expensive classy setting for couples and business meetings. She had been there a handful of times.

"I know." said Amanda with a smile. She had expected nothing less from Nate. He was quite the gentleman and seemed eager to impress. She would take it.

"You excited?" asked Phyllis looking at her best friend. She knew after Ripley, Amanda was still weary and that's why it surprised her she was going out with Nate.

"Yeah." Said Amanda nodding fingering a long silk red dress "I am. I am excited."

"Are you sure?" said Phyllis dropping the teasing. Something was going on. "What is going on?"

"Nothing." Said Amanda a little too quickly.

"What happened?" There was silence, Amanda not knowing how to broach the subject. "You know you can talk to me about anything right?" implored Phyllis, urging her friend gently to open up.

Amanda sighed knowing Phyllis was not going to let it go and she really needed to talk about, to let it out. She grabbed Phyllis' hand leading her outside of the boutique to her car. With a sigh she said, "I kissed Billy."

"What?" Phyllis was stunned. That was a twist she didn't see coming at all.

"I know. It just happened."

"How does it 'just' happen?" asked Phyllis with air quotes. "And where did it happen?"

"In my suite. The night of the storm, he came over to check up on me and he ended up staying. I asked him to. I just didn't want to be alone. The next morning that's when we kissed. I should have stopped it but I didn't. I couldn't."

"You liked it." Phyllis stated. It was clear as day from the look on Amanda's face.

"A lot. I can't stop thinking about it."

"Then why are you going to dinner with Nate?"

"You have to ask? I can't be with him. Billy is so wrong for me on so many levels I can't even begin! After Ripley, I don't need any more chaos. Nate is perfect."

Phyllis sighed. On one hand, she wanted Amanda to be with Nate. He was as she said, 'safe' but then it was clear that she was feeling something a whole lot more for Billy. "Amanda…"

Amanda said, "No. I can't deal with Billy right now. That's why I have been avoiding him. I need time away from him. Being with him would mean proving Victoria and the Newmans that I was with him all along and I don't want the drama. So, come on. Help me look for a dress that will knock Nate out."

"Ok…" said Phyllis in surrender and they went back to the boutique.

Billy was sitting in the classy restaurant chatting to his friend and business associate Max about a venture they could take on. They had finished the business part and they were now just catching up. He was laughing about a story Max had told him when his eyes were drawn to the entry and his heart nearly stopped. It had been days since he had caught a glimpse of her and now…he couldn't take his eyes off her.
She looked gorgeous.

Her dress was bodycon, black off shoulder that showed off her beautiful curvy body the black of the dress highlighted her glowing golden brown smooth skin that seemed to taunt him. Her hair was let down, curly and he just wanted to run his hands in it and feel it's softness again.

He could tell the moment she noticed him. Her step faulted and they stared at each other before she looked away and it was then he noticed the doctor. It was like someone had thrown a bucket of ice water on him. What was she doing here with him? Was she really ignoring him, letting whatever was developing between them go because of Nate? It hurt him deeply, more than he expected. Just the thought of her with Nate, smiling at him, kissing him and God forbid making love to him… He couldn't think of that. He didn't know what he was going to do but he wasn't giving up.

Amanda lightly gasped, heart skipped a beat and she felt like she couldn't breathe when her eyes met with his. She couldn't look away as she stared into brown eyes. Even from across the room, it was like it was just the 2 of them, everything and everyone was gone. He looked handsome in a black suit, his hair sleeked back. It took Nate's hand on her arm to pull her back from the haze they had created in those few seconds.
This was bad. The way he affected her so. What the hell was he doing here anyway? Walking to their table, she sat down and tried concentrating on Nate but she could still feel his eyes on her, burning a trail into her skin causing her heartbeat to quicken, Goosebumps to form, her skin tingling. She didn't dare look back at him. She couldn't. She wouldn't. She found herself faltering on her conversation with Nate and he soon noted it.

"Hey, are you ok?"

"Yeah. I am fine." She said smiling at him then said, "Um, actually, I need to go to the restroom." She said standing up. She needed time, away from Billy's gaze. She needed time to calm herself and get control of emotions. "I will be back soon."
Against her better judgement, she looked at Billy's table and sure enough, he was looking at her, his dark eyes smouldering with fire and she had to stop herself from gasping out loud. Never before had been on the receiving end of an intense look like that. Quickening her steps, she breathed a sigh of relief when she entered the ladies room, away from his gaze. She set her purse by the counter and looked into the mirror trying to calm her racing heart.

Billy watched as she walked her hips swaying. Not a moment later, after she was out sight, he turned to Max and said, "I'll be right back."
Max just waved him off and he walked with a purpose disappearing to where she had turned a corner. He looked around then saw the ladies and knew that's where she had gone. Walking to the door, he found it open. He entered and locked the door and turned to her, taking in her stunned face.

"Billy! What the hell. You shouldn't be here." She said looking at him wide eyed. Was he crazy?

"Why have you been avoiding me?" Billy asked looking at her.

"Billy… You need to leave." She said desperately as he walked closer to her.

He ignored her and walked closer still. "You have been ignoring my calls. You have been avoiding me. Why?" he asked. "Is it because of him?"

"Why does it matter? You and I are friends." Said Amanda her voice shaky.

"Friends don't kiss each other the way we did." said Billy as he came to a stop in her personal space. With her back against the mirror counter, she was blocked. She couldn't leave not that she could. Her feet seemed to be plastered to the floor. "You and I are more than that and you know it." He husked out, his eyes looking into hers.

"Billy…" breathed out Amanda, his closeness and his scent clouding her senses.

"Admit it." Billy said, his hand raising to touch her cheek, caressing her smooth skin gently. He watched as her breath quickened and he wanted to kiss that pulse point. He wrapped one arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. "You want me too, as much as I want you."

"Billy…" she moaned out her mind blank. She couldn't think. What was he doing to her? His hard body against her, his touch, his deep voice…it was like her brain had short circuited.

"Let me show you then how much we both want this." He said and before she could say anything, he captured her lips with his.
He felt her respond instantly, her hands coming to rest on him, one in his hair and the other on his cheek. The kiss soon turned fierce, deep, the kind that you felt from deep within. It was like they were drawing the very essence from each other. His hands trailed her neck down her smooth exposed shoulders that he had wanted to touch since he laid eyes on her tonight, down her back to palm on her ass, his erection grinding on her stomach.

Amanda moaned at the feelings coursing through her body at the feel of him. His touch was electrifying, awakening every nerve in her body. She was consumed in him. She couldn't think of anything else except him. She gasped when his lips left hers giving her as chance to breath before their lips met again in a frenzy. Her hands trailed his chest, his back, his shoulders. She felt wetness pool in her panties. She gasped out when he lifted her and set her on the counter and stood between her legs. Amanda pulled him close, her legs wrapping around him as they continue to kiss.

They both jumped when there was a knock on the door pulling them from their haze. They stared at each other. They were dishevelled, hair all over the place, lips kiss swollen, her lipstick on his lips, his shirt was unbuttoned half way and untucked. It was clear to anyone what had happened here.

"I am not going to push you about this Amanda. The ball is in your court. If you want this, us, you know where to find me." he said before he turned and walked to the door and unlocked it. An elderly woman looked stunned at seeing his tall frame by the doorway then she noticed Amanda and smirked. Ah, young love.

Amanda took a deep breath and was grateful the elderly lady didn't comment on what she saw. She wasn't sure what she would say anyway. She cleaned herself up and after taking calming breaths, she walked out to get back to Nate.

"Are you ok? You were gone a long time."

"Yeah. Yeah I am fine." Said Amanda with a smile.

"I just saw Billy. He came over to say hi when he was leaving."

"Oh really? I didn't know he was here." she lied to her teeth.

"He is here on business." He said. "Well your wine needs to be chilled again."

"No it's fine."

"Ok."

The date progressed though Amanda was even more distracted. The kiss in the restroom…if she could even call it that… She couldn't get it out of her mind no matter what she tried. She couldn't deny it. She wanted Billy. He had ruined her for anyone. No one could kiss like that, like they are taking your very soul and things remain the same.

"Amanda are you ok?" asked Nate concerned. He could tell she was far away and not paying attention to anything he said.

"Actually, I have a headache. I think the busy week is getting to me. I am sorry."

"No need to apologize. Come on. Let me get you home." said Nate signalling for the bill. He looked at Amanda. He had a feeling something was going on with her. He didn't know what but he had a feeling it had to do with the man who had just left. He had seen the way Billy looked at Amanda, the way he seemed to always be around her. He wasn't sure if anything happened between them though.

"Thank you Nate for a wonderful night." Said Amanda as they stood by her suite door.

"This is not going to happen again is it?"

Amanda sighed. "I'm sorry. I like you. You are a great guy but it wouldn't work out."

"Is it Ripley?"

"Part of it." She answered honestly.

"And Billy?" he asked with raised eyebrow.

Amanda's eyes widened at that.

"Nate… Billy is…"

"No. No need to explain. I understand." Said Nate dejected but glad it was in the open. "Well I got to go."

"Ok." said Amanda feeling bad but knowing she was finally making the right choice. "Nate?" she called when he was walking away. he turned to her. "I hope this doesn't change our friendship. I value that a lot."

"Of course not." Said Nate with a smile.

Amanda smiled back. He really was a good guy.

Amanda walked into the dimly lit club and spotted him immediately sitting in their usual seat sipping on some scotch. She smiled and made her way toward him. It was a couple of days since they kissed in that restroom and she was finally ready to talk to him, to move forward. She was still scared but she was determined to put Ripley and her fears behind her.
Billy looked up and smiled when he saw her walking toward him, as usual looking gorgeous. Since they last kissed, he hadn't looked for her or call her wanting her to make her decision and he was glad to see her walking to him a smile on her face.

"Hi."

"Hi."

There it is. I am leaving it here. What happens next is up to you ;)

I hope you like it. Let me know what you think and where I should improve.

Till next time.
