I see him every day. I can't decide if it's a dream or a nightmare. Does he see me? I don't know. I know everything about Fitzgerald Grant.

"Olivia, you are going to be late for school."

"I'm almost ready." Olivia said, throwing books in her backpack.

"You can stop looking at your mirror."

Olivia looked away from him for a second to give Maya her full attention. It was Friday morning, and Maya had just finished her shift at the hospital. She wanted an empty house for a few hours, and Olivia wasn't moving fast enough.

"I might be late for dinner. My study group is meeting after school."

"You are not having fast food again this week."

Olivia rolled her eyes at Maya. Having a nurse for a mom could be really annoying sometimes. She kept track of all her meals. If Olivia skipped her daily fruits and vegetables, there would be an argument. It was embarrassing being a senior and having to sneak junk food in the house. Olivia unzipped a compartment to add more pens and highlighters to her backpack. A snack cake fell on her desk.

"Give me that."

Maya held her hand out and Olivia gave up her last treat. She was broke, so she would have to ask her friend Abby for a few dollars.

"Do you know how many artificial ingredients are in this?"

"I'm so ready to be 18. My apartment is going to filled with cakes, cookies and sodas."

"Hurry up and leave."

Olivia looked at her mirror again. Fitz was sitting at his desk eating a bowl of cereal and reading a textbook. If only she could communicate with him somehow. She had unofficially known him since freshman year. The day her mom bought the mirror from an antique furniture store. Some days, she would spend hours looking at him playing video games or doing homework. She wanted to be friends. It was impossible. She couldn't explain anything. Where was he? Could the mirror be a portal to another universe?

"Can you move any slower?"

Olivia put her backpack on her shoulders. "Have a great day mom."

"No junk food."

"Sure."

Maya stood in the room a few minutes after Olivia left. She wanted to look for hidden snacks, but she didn't have the energy after standing on her feet the whole night. Sometimes, she didn't think she could get anything right when it came to Olivia. There was a silver lining in their relationship. Olivia loved her mirror. It was a gift from Maya. She smiled at her tired reflection in the vintage mirror. She could sleep for a few hours before she started her daily cooking and cleaning routine.
