Chapter 1
Klaus looks through his phone, waiting for a message. It's been 3 months since he left Mystic Falls for good. He sips his drink and plays his last conservation with Caroline in his mind over and over again. He knew he will never get over her, lest keep himself from sending a voice mail over and over again. He had been living in New Orleans since that night he and Caroline made love. It may just have been sex for her, but Klaus loved her. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, see her smile and show her the world. Klaus never regretted coming back to Mystic Falls for her, whenever Caroline called him for help. Klaus knew Caroline would never return his feelings; he didn't want to face that. Why would he, it was much easier to imagine that one day, she might actually fall in love with him.
He calls Caroline and leaves a voicemail for her, just the way he did for the past 92 days.
While back at Whitmore dorm room which she shares with Elena and Bonnie, Caroline throws her phone back on the bed and goes back to folding her laundry.
"Him again?", Elena guessed.
"Yeah, feels like I am his 'Dear Diary'", Caroline replied.
"I think you should at least answer him once", Elena said.
"We are talking about Klaus here, right?", Bonnie intervened.
"Yeah, but he has also been our savior whenever we needed to heal a werewolf bite or his help", Elena said.
"Let's not forget, he always wants something in return, which mostly is devious", Bonnie said.
"Yeah, but every time it's just to get her attention. Because he loves you, Care" Elena said to Caroline
"What do you think, Caroline?", Bonnie asked.
"Well, every time I shunned him down, he came back without making me feel bad and helped us. I know he did that because he had feelings for me…" Caroline said.
"Has. Correction", Elena interrupted.
"Yes, has. And I guess I did feel something for him, that's why we ended up having sex. But I don't know beyond that."
"Do you miss him?" Bonnie asked.
"Well, he is a good kisser", Caroline said.
"Ahh okay, yeah we know, how you miss him" laughed out Elena and Bonnie joined her in teasing Caroline.
The next day at sociology class, Caroline fell asleep until someone tapped her shoulder. Caroline looked up and saw this dark-eyed guy smiling down at her.
"I'm sorry", Caroline trying to make sense of the situation.
"Hey, I am Enzo, remember me?"
Caroline looks back, now fully aware of the person in front of her.
"The class ended a while ago and you are still here" Enzo said.
Caroline looked around her and with vampire speed, she immediately distanced away herself from the handsome, yet dangerous vampire and asked, "What do you want"
Lorenzo amused by her, "Goldilocks, I am not here to harm you. I am simply to be your friend"
"What?" Caroline frowned.
"I know, I have done some shitty stuff since the last time we met. I am here to begin a new life. I enrolled myself in Communications Major. I was quite surprised you were also here."
"I don't believe you. Why are you here?"
"Come on, I just told you. It's fine if you don't want to be friends. I understand. I just wanted to try"
Caroline stared at him.
"Allright, I get it. I leave now" he raised his hands as an action of surrender and left.
In the evening, when Caroline narrated the event to her roommates, both of them were stunned.
"Did Damon tell you anything about Enzo?" Bonnie asked Elena.
"Well, we are not talking anymore. We broke up remember" Elena said.
"Oh yeah…sorry", Bonnie apologized.
"Maybe Enzo is trying to be your friend. Remember, he was hitting you all the time when you both went looking for Stefan's doppelgänger, Tom." Elena added.
"Yeah but I made it pretty clear that I'm not interested" Caroline
"Just the way you told Klaus and then, you guys made out" Bonnie mockingly coughed while saying that
"I know, I know. I am not proud of what I did. I just don't trust anyone" Caroline sighed, "I just want to meet someone in college and have some fun."
"Then tomorrow is the perfect night for that. We have the mid-semester bonfire party and you can find some fun there, maybe" Bonnie suggested
"Looking forward to getting ourselves knocked out" Elena smirked.
The next evening, Caroline checked her phone and something hit her. Klaus didn't call her last night. That's the first time this has happened. She feared something might have happened to him but then again, he is the strongest living being on the Earth, so she brushed it off and started getting ready for the bonfire. She wore a red slip top with laces and blue jeans and a black jacket incase it got chilly. The other two too got dressed and both of them left soon after 7.
When they reached the place, they were greeted by their classmates and got offered beer cups. Soon after, Bonnie started talking to a guy and they both went out for a walk in the woods. Elena was slow dancing with another guy, she got drunk pretty easily. Caroline didn't seem to put her head off of Klaus. She started thinking, 'Did he give up on me?'. Part of her wanted to call Klaus and hear him say, 'Hey Love' while the other part kept thinking of the consequences and that she would be leading him. She cleared her head and joined her classmates who were taking vodka shots. She took 4 shots at a row and then started feeling light-headed. She could feel the alcohol hitting her and she started to let go of things. She was soon laughing and dancing with her friends when someone tapped on her shoulder and Caroline turned around. Her vision was blurry and she could barely make out who was it. She was so drunk that she hung her arms around the neck of the person and started slow dancing.
"Are you allright?" he asked
"Ofcourse I am. I am at a party, drunk and dancing."
Caroline felt her lips being softly pressed by his lips and she now could see who it was.
"Klaus?", she stammered.
"No, it's Enzo," he said and Caroline's vision cleared and she couldn't believe she just had a kiss with someone whom she disgusted so much.
"What the hell?!" she tried breaking through and looked at him, "Why did you kiss me?"
"Well you put your arms around me, so I thought maybe it was a good opportunity for me." Lorenzo wasn't in the mood to let go of his hands around her waist.
"Let go of me!" Caroline pushed herself away from him.
"Why do you hate me so much? Just answer me that". Enzo went on
"I don't want to spend another second with you. Do I have to break your arms for this?" Caroline got furious
Suddenly someone grabbed Caroline and pulled her away from him. Caroline looked to her side and didn't believe when she saw who grabbed her.
"I see you anywhere near her, mate and you wouldn't have wished to be alive," he said with glaring eyes.
"Klaus?", Caroline exclaimed.
"I know who you are. You are an Original." Enzo spoke back in his usual calm and casual way.
"Then you should know not to mess with one" Klaus raised his eyebrow and smiled.
"I am a soldier and I fear no one. We will meet soon." Enzo looked at Caroline, "See you later, Goldilocks"
"Klaus, what are doing here?", Caroline
"To see you my love, aren't you the least bit happy to see me?"
"Let's go to someplace quieter, where we can talk" Caroline takes his hand and they go into the woods.
They find a bench and sit down.
Caroline turns towards him and gives him a look.
"What? I wanted to see if you are okay or not. You didn't reply to any of my voicemails" Klaus said.
"Well, I thought you would take a hint that I didn't want to talk to you" Caroline replied back.
"I certainly didn't feel that when you confessed last time", Klaus couldn't help smirk.
"You said, you would leave Mystic Falls." Caroline said with glaring eyes.
"I did but I couldn't leave you. I couldn't stop thinking about you. About us. How good it felt when we were together last time." Klaus took her hand and stared at her eyes.
Caroline's heart was beating fast and it slipped through her head that Klaus was able to hear that and was quite enjoying it. He put his hand behind her and pulled her closer to him. Caroline, who was already overpowered by the alcohol and her heart was taking charge of her body allowed Klaus to get closer to her. She yearned for his touch so long that she couldn't ignore it any longer. She did want to feel those soft lips on her, kissing her. He ravished her the way no one ever did before. Klaus slowly closed the distance between them till his lips met hers and he caressed her face so gently. Caroline was lost in the kiss. She knew he was a great kisser but he was kissing the hell out of her. He was doing everything so softly that it felt more like a tease which was definitely driving her crazy. She wanted more. More than just a kiss….
