Welcome to Bastion City, a city of white spires and glass, topped with a halo of floating platforms, draped with flowing fibers and rustling leaves. Bastionites roamed freely in the City's many elevated walkways between the spires, and traffic pulses away beneath the ground, hidden from view. The parks are many, drinking in the freely given light from the ever present desert sun. Bastionites call themselves the Gem of the Gobi Wastes, a beacon of light for those who fled the epicenters of [Honkai Contamination].
The tall spires oversee the entrance of hover cars and animal pulled carts, all creeping into one of Humanity's final sanctuaries at a steady pace. Up above, the halo of floating platforms have their dangling flora waved back and forth by incoming and outgoing planes, bringing in even more materials and refugees. Large clouds of autonomous drones spread out from each platform, delivering and using the offloaded materials to strengthen and build outwards from the Bastion City Core.
The Core stands above everything, a twisting spire of smooth white nano-diamond mesh covers a core of Si-infused SC plating. It rises above the platforms, and has an unobstructed view of the city below. Within the top most floor rests the brain of Bastion City. A center console explodes in motes of holographic dust that settles into an orange 3D-model of the city. Some parts of it pulse green, and if someone where to look outside, they would see the corresponding area to be finishing in development. This is all far from the Director's mind as he walks around the central core. An assistant silently walks behind and to the left of him, awaiting any questions with a stylus and Glass-Pad in hand.
The director stops at the north side of the orange map, and stares into it, focusing on a pulsing red node that slowly fades into the ever-present orange. He chuckles. "Say Albert, what do you make of such incidents in my little city?"
"Well, Director Ilios, that was a rhetorical question and you know it." The assistant dryly responds and highlights a few things in his tablet. A table of values appear on the main hologram, before being converted into a graph displaying an exponentially decreasing trend. "But if you must know, such incidents are occurring less and less frequently as we ramp up security and screening at the city walls. We are seeing less and less of this happening in city limits as we further train our security drones to spot the signs of Honkai Infections in incoming refugees."
Director Ilios smooths his sharp beard and smiles happily. "Investing in Resonant Materials and Development is the best thing to happen to humanity. With them, we shall become the one and only city free from the Honkai for many generations to come!" His rapturous statement leads him to spread his arms wide. His assistant Albert only looks down on his Glass Pad to make some more notes and look over some incoming paperwork. Both of them do not notice a node flashing red, before being covered by a glitching orange cover.
