Thank you for your continued support.

This little one-shot just popped into my head, out of the blue...lockdown will do that to you...send your mind in all different directions. Lol.

Give it a try and tell me your thoughts. Thank you.

Standard disclaimer.

She didn't see them.

She didn't hear them, as she sat with her earphones in, eyes closed and listening to the sound of her husband's melodic voice, caressing her ears.

But she heard the sound of a message, interrupting his sexy voice, singing her favorite song of his and she saw his urgent message, typed in bold letters, signifying an order.

'DO NOT COME INSIDE! GO TO THE BACK ROOM AND WAIT FOR MY SIGNAL. OUR ANGELS ARE SAFE AND PROTECTED. I LOVE YOU.'

Her heart felt, as though it had dropped, clean out of her chest.

She snatched the earphones off, dispatched a short message to him and dashed through the small gate, at the back of their house.

He saw her message.

'Okay. Fifteen minutes and then I'm coming. I love you.'

Short and to the point, exactly how she was.

He didn't respond.

No sense in doing so.

She said what she meant and she meant what she said…and there would be no stopping her.

But he was hopeful and confident, he could handle everything before she showed up.

He stealthily walked towards his bedside table, opened a drawer within a drawer and lifted a secret hatch, revealing his loaded hand-gun.

His thoughts immediately drifted to, two of the sweetest faces ever, their eyes matching his and his heart missed a beat.

He'd never let anything happen to them…or the woman who helped made them. He'd die trying, if he had to, but today wasn't his day to die.

His mind went to the same woman...the love of his life and somehow, he wished he could see her face.

She'd be worried, and anxious and she'd be downright angry, at the two undesirables, who decided to mess with her world…her peace and sanctity.

Exactly seven minutes before…

He saw them.

He heard them, as he and his two little angels, sat on his bedroom floor, assembling a thousand-piece puzzle.

He'd look up at his son, Leighton, who'd just stood and did a little dance, after fitting the right piece into a space, and his eyes caught movement on the camera's monitors, installed on the wall, directly over the doorway.

Two suspicious looking thugs, had apparently jumped the fence and was making their way across the lawn, heading for the house.

His first thoughts had gone to his wife Mercedes, who was out in the back garden, spending some well-deserved time by herself.

So, he sent her instructions and turned to his two children.

As calmly as he could, he stood, walked to his closet and slid back a panel, revealing another room, big enough for a small family to fit in…his family.

"Lily-Sue! Leighton! Come to daddy," he called.

The two of them instantly obeyed and ran to him.

He knelt, trying to match their eye level and quietly said to them,

"I need you guys to do something for me." Two little heads nodded.

"I need you guys to go into our secret place and stay as quiet as you can for me. Can you do that for daddy?" Two little heads nodded again.

"Where's mommy?" Lily-Sue asked. He couldn't lie to her...or them, although he wished he could. He didn't want to worry them.

"She's in the back of the house. She's probably waiting for me to call her, okay?" Two little heads nodded again.

God! He and his wife were extremely blessed. Not with the huge bank accounts they have. Not with the massive house they have. Not with the many luxury items they have…but with the two precious beings, standing right in front of him.

He kissed both foreheads, touched his to both and led them into the room.

Inside, there were electronic gadgets, a huge wide-screen, smart TV, and a leather chair set.

He walked to the television, turned it on and muted it.

Next, he handed each child an I-pad and attached earphones to them.

Before he left the room, he said,

"I need you guys to keep your earphones in, while you're playing your games. I have to go, but I'll be back in a few minutes, okay?"

They nodded.

He helped them onto the chair, put their earphones in and selected a game, for each.

He gently touched each child, mouthed, 'I love you,' to them and exited the room, sliding back the panel in the process.

Outside the closet, he looked up to the ceiling, as he made his way to his bedside table and said,

"Dear God…you know who this is and you know exactly why I'm calling out to you. But just to make sure, please take care of my two kids and the woman I love, more than life itself. Thank you…I'm forever grateful."

He eyed the cameras again, looking to see exactly where the thugs were and as he was going through his bedroom door, he pressed the silent alarm, alerting the police of a possible break-in.

As quietly as he could, he moved from room to room, until he came to one of the guest bedrooms.

And he heard them.

He rolled his eyes.

These two had to be novices.

They were the noisiest crooks ever.

He stopped right outside the door listening, as they ransacked the room, obviously looking for money and valuables.

"Nothing's in here," he heard and then,

"This isn't the master bedroom, that's why. You keep looking…I'll go see if I can find it…this guy's loaded…"

"I know that…it's Sam Evans, you know."

Sam stepped back into the shadows…into the narrow hallway, leading to the next two spare rooms.

He watched as the thug passed him, heading towards his kids' rooms and more importantly...the master bedroom, where said kids were.

As quiet as a mouse, he walked behind him and just as the thug placed his hand on the door-knob, he dropped him like a sack of potatoes.

And just as quickly, he dragged him into the master bedroom, dug out a handful of plastic ties from the corner of his closet and snapped one around the thug's wrists.

He went to his sock drawer, rapidly pulled a sock from it, dropping the matching pair in the process, and returned to the thug, stuffing it into his mouth.

'Thank you, baby, for not moving these ties and thank you, mom and dad, for sending me to karate lessons.'

He stood behind the door, listening to see if the other thug was coming, but he heard nothing.

His heart was pumping, as he moved back, towards the room, where he'd left the other thug.

He could hear a faint noise, coming from the room and the sound of sirens in the distance.

He swore under his breath, calmly lowered his gun and walked into the room, with a look of chastisement on his face.

The first thing he saw, was his wife's generous behind, as she bent over the thug, with a baseball bat in her hand, poking him in the ribs.

He cleared his throat loudly, and she jumped.

The look on her face was priceless, and right now, as tough as he wanted to be with her, he just couldn't.

He walked to her and his face automatically split into a grin.

He scooped her up into his arms, and kissed her.

"What gave me away?" she asked, about a minute later.

"Your perfume…you couldn't wait, could you, baby?"

"I told you, fifteen minutes and then I would come."

"What am I going to do with you, woman?"

"Love me."

"I can definitely do that." He kissed her again and just as he was losing himself into the kiss, the intercom at the gate sounded.

"Shit! The cops are here. You want me to handle it?" he asked.

"Yes, my sweet sexy man. Handle them and then come handle me…cause I know the munchkins are probably down for the count. I'll go check on them. Don't keep me waiting, Evans."

She moved off, swinging her hips and rolling her ample bum.

Sam groaned, long and low, bit his lip and moved off in the opposite direction.

What do you think? Was it worth your time? I hope so. Stay safe and stay blessed.
