This story is about a teenage girl named Rose who lives in the D.P. universe, just a different state far away from him.

"AHHHHHH!" I screamed as I felt this searing, tearing pain rip through my body on a level so deep, it could only be described as molecular. Through the pain, I could barely see, what I did see though, was this blinding light coming at me from all angles. After everything calmed down, I fell to the floor, laying atop cords and cables sloppily tacked to the metal panels meant to give this "portal" a scientific feel. As I lay there, looking at everything as it smoked and beeped from the explosion, I wonder, "What did I just do?"

3 Months ago, this is what happened to me in my parents basement. 3 months ago, my life changed. For the better? Sure, but it wasn't great to start with. My parents needed a lab rat for their experiments, and after a few years of getting poked and prodded by weird machines, I refused. Apparently, they didn't need me for their experiments, they really just needed me for the torment. I went from being their lab rat to their punching bag.

I tried to get them to stop, begged for them to give me a break as I couldn't hide the bruises, but instead of giving me a break, they decided to break my arm with a baseball bat. Yeah, they're scientists, but that doesn't mean that they don't know how to use "caveman tools" as they call them.

I'm used to the pain, the scars, bruises, and blood. I'm used to the Russian rullet I'm forced to play with my parents moods. What I wasn't expecting was what they were hiding behind the big yellow and black door, and what would happen when I opened it and went inside. Now, I have the power to fight back, and I'm not alone.
