Chapter – 1
Everyone and anybody always dream, wonder, thought, fantasize about the concept of traveling back in time to fix what had gone wrong or make that decision when they had the chance among many other things they want to do.
But in the end, all of these desires, ambitions or wants are nothing but the past… as it was never possible to change what had been done. Indeed, such desires are merely gibberish nonsense no sane person would pursue in the world called reality they lived in.
Still… there were a few who did not stop as if a 1% chance of succeeding was enough for them since they indeed live in a world of great powers created by the World Tree, Yggdrasil.
Even so, none of them succeeded until now… Even Serenica, the mage who was held high for her great magical might and knowledge could not succeed even at the end of her last breath.
A young man of age 16 came and succeeded when none had yet. This young man had all the qualities of a hero's strength, perseverance, will, and virtue but it wasn't because of such did he succeeded when none did.
He was simply like everyone, some who was born under the many leaves of Yggdrasill and like everyone he too had to walk through all the troubles and problems life throws even more so than others.
It was only possible as he bears the mark of the World Tree and since the chance to go back in time was something none should posses it came to the conclusion that only the Luminary the one who bears the mark can do it since the bearer is a being that would not misuse such capability.
He along with the help of his companions were able to restore the world back after the evil being Mordagon stole the sword of light and along with it the World Tree's infinity power resulting in the world to plunge into a darkness rule by the dark being.
Even so, the victory also came with a loss. The loss of a companion along a critical moment on their journey, a girl that was revere to be one of the reincarnations of Serenica but she was much more than a powerful mage. She was a loyal friend and a great sister. Her sacrifice was not forgotten and they will always remember her.
But then a chance came and without hesitation, the hero, the luminary proceeded to use that chance since only he was capable to set things right.
The Lost Land
The Luminary and his companions arrived in the land lost to the world and a place that can only be entered by Catacea's help.
Here many Light-lings occupied the land but only the eyes of the Luminary could they be seen. Their presence signified that it was indeed a land untouched by mortals for hundreds of years.
Without much delaying, the band of heroes headed the single path that leads them to a humongous structure like a citadel. The citadel's amazing architectural structure was not done by mere mortals but from a higher power.
Upon entering, the heroes headed up to the top floor of the citadel, the Altar of ages.
The technology within the citadel surprises them but even more so of what awaited them at the altar was a being they could only call 'The Time-keeper'.
The mysterious being gave them new hope especially the one that lost her twin sister. The being gave them hope that time could be changed and lives could be safe.
Unfortunately, their newfound hope died down since something as amazing as time travel was only possible with the great risk it held as well as many other specific requirements.
Those requirements gave all of them second thoughts all but the Luminary.
Only one can transverse time and only the Luminary could achieve it while at the same time sacrificing the Sword of light but what truly made the others had seconds thoughts was the danger of traveling back in time as there was a very high possibility the traveler might be lost in time.
"When it is broken… When the memories are shattered… You will return to the past… And there you will stay…"
Despite the claims of the Timekeeper, it was all too much for them an all too much risk to take. As it was impossible to know the outcome when the sphere shatters, it was too much for them to let him go alone and face it.
"You may be lost forever… Trapped in a corner in time… A half faded memory…"
The time keeper's continuous words did not soothe their already hesitant heart.
"Knowing this... are you willing to risk all for the sake of your departed friend…?"
….
"Darling, don't you think you've done enough? Losing another companion… I don't think I could bear it."
"I cannot permit you to such a dangerous path!"
"Have you thought this through? If you go there are no turning back and no guarantees you'll even make it there."
"When I cut my hair and Veronica gave me her power. I promise I would use them to carry on our sacred mission and protect you! You simply mustn't!"
"Fate seems to have a habit of snatching away those I care about the most… but not this time. Save a tired old man more heartaches than he can bear."
"I let you go once… I promise never to do that again. Please… don't make me do this."
His companions all stood before him announcing their disapproval of the plan to turned back time.
"…" But he already made his decision, he was going to save her and save them all. Too much had been lost when Mordigan absorbs the world tree and he plans to set things right even at the cost of his own existence.
"…"
"….."
"…."
Eventually, his companions could not stop him and accepted his decision. With a heavy heart, they all had to let him go and hope for the best.
The timekeeper than explained that to turn back time with their goal in mind he would retain his memories, knowledge, and powers along with the items due to the presence of the time capsules surround the altar since they are not affected by the flow of time. Though, there was one exception, the Sword of Light which was needed to break the time sphere.
"…" Before he raises the Sword of Light, the Luminary, the hero, and the friend turned back to his friends as they all gave their goodbyes to him.
"So please… *sniff* If you don't mind… please save her… and I hope you'll take us all over again!" Serena, one of the reasons he needed to go back to save her sister spoke out to him showing that even she could be a little selfish.
"…" Acknowledging their words, Eleven, the Luminary of Light raises it upon the time sphere.
*!* The sword descended and upon connecting with the time sphere did both sword and sphere broke.
The light enveloped the Luminary as his view of the friends that journey with him through to thick and thin disappeared until he was taken through time until he reached his destination.
…
Given a chance to changed the past… such a tasty chance would make anyone ponder on the subject especially people who carry great burdens and pain.
So what if… what if Eleven… the Luminary had a thought. A thought that instead of going back before the fall of the World Tree and Veronica's selfless sacrifice… what if he had thought about going further back… to save more than just Veronica as the images of his mother, father and the kingdom of Dundrasil came to him. He believed he could save so much more and this glimmer of thought indeed changed his destination.
"The bearer of my mark… I see through your thoughts. You do understand, to lose time is too much and seeing how your destination has been changed, I believed you might never make it seeing the consequence of what is ahead. But do not fret my child, if it is your decision from the heart I will make sure it comes true but would cost you a great deal even I would not ask of you."
"…."
"Please, to protect them all…" He wanted to save his parents as he would always remember how they had died and how his grandfather cried from time to time mumbling 'A parent must never be outlived their children' as well as the people of his kingdom his family protected.
"I would give anything."
He wanted to apologize to his friends. He just might not be able to keep his promise of journeying it with them again.
"I understand my bearer, and remember… I have faith in you to defeat the darkness."
A great light dragon appeared for a short second before him only to disappear as the Luminary transverse time to his new destination.
Kingdom of Dundrasil
It was a joyous day within one of the great four Kingdoms of Erdrea. The people of Dundrasil live in peace and harmony under their benolevent and great King Irwin and Queen Eleanor.
But today was a very special day as it was the day of their beloved King and Queen's coming child. Such a special day even gathered the other great kingdom's royalty to be invited.
Anyone around the kingdom could see the people laughing with joy and dancing with decorations lace across their houses. Especially, a few dancers showing up in the street to celebrate with the others as they all joined together for the birth of their new royalty.
Though in the far corner within the kingdom and in the alley between two buildings a small flashed of light suddenly came out with something or someone falling into a few empty crates causing some noise but not enough for the celebrating people to react.
"*sigh* Are the strays at it again?" Coming out of the building's side door was an old man wearing an apron and a tired expression.
"I've had on my hands dealing with ruff up drunks all day and night."
He was indeed a bartender and owns the popular tavern within the Kingdom of Dundrasil.
But the noise made him came out to check since people like him could never be too careful.
"What in heavens…"
Though the moment he walked outside his alley his eyes did not see no strays but instead was a young man lying unconscious on a pile of broken crates. He figured the young man crashed on but reacted quickly to the terrifying sword on the young man's back disappearing before his very eyes. He ponders tensely who the unconscious young man before him was.
And done!
Light-lings: The opposite of the Darklings. (I couldn't bother myself to find their real names.)
I also name the Hero as 'Eleven' since it was the official default for some reason I couldn't remember where from.
Romance might be Princess Jade or the sage twins.
See ya!
