So, my much-younger sisters began the Rainbow Magic multi-series, and I'm one of their designated readers. I honestly feel SO sorry for Jack Frost, and just want him to get some hugs and loving. So here, for everyone who never asks for hugs, but needs them the most, is Jack Frost getting some hugs and an actual emotional support network.

Jack Frost stared sadly out the window of his tall ice castle. He felt two small, icy tears trickle down his face and into his white icicle beard. "How did I get here?" he thought sadly. "All I have are some geese and the goblins, and they're not even particularly capable henchmen." The geese were the highlight of his life, but he wanted a friend, someone, anyone, to laugh with, play with, even someone to just give him a hug occasionally. Jack Frost looked longingly over to the golden fields and beautiful green grass covered in red and white toadstool houses that made up most of Fairyland. He saw the bright fairies flitting about in groups of three or seven, according to what groups they made up, laughing and talking. "Why can't I be like them?" He thought miserably.

-Flashback Begins-

A young Jack Frost looked over at the seven young fairies playing in a field. He gathered the tattered remnants of his courage around him and hesitantly walked over. "H-hey, can I play with you?" He asked the young fairies quietly. They were the last group he could find, all the others had eventually turned him away, calling him cold and sharp, and that he didn't understand their games or were playing them too roughly.

"Sure!" the first fairy chirps. "I'm Ruby, and these are my sisters, Amber, Sunny, Fern, Sky, Inky, and Heather!" She gestured to them all in turn and they waved to him, smiling. "We're playing sparkle tag, you send a jet of sparkles at people, and if they hit you, you're it!" She smiled widely and bounced away, shooting a jet of bright red sparkles that almost formed into the distinct shapes that would mark her ability to become a full-fledged fairy at Inky, who dodged out of the way with a delighted squeal. Jack joined in happily until he was eventually caught by Sunny's jet of sparkles. When he tried to send out a gentle breeze, it came as a terrifying blast of cold air and biting snowflakes that hit Sky and twirled her around before setting her down hard. Her sisters rushed over and tried to comfort her and warm her up.

Fern crept over and touched his elbow. "Maybe you can come back tomorrow?" She asked hesitantly. "Sky is a bit scared now, and your winter powers are...not the same as ours. Maybe we can find something else to play, though."

Jack nodded sadly and crept away to his small ice house on the borders of the meadows. He came back the next day, but every game they tried, he always ended up hurting someone, so eventually, he just stayed away. After years of staying alone in his cold cottage, which he slowly built into a castle to release his powers, he finally found the goblins to be his henchmen. "I can't play with the others nicely," he bitterly thought in the end, "then I'll try being the villain. At least then I won't be so alone."

-Flashback Ends-

Jack Frost was startled out of his contemplation of the geese by a croaking cough from behind him. He turned around to see Bertram, Official Frog Messenger of King Oberon and Queen Titania, dressed in a smart waistcoat and glasses and holding a scroll. "The King and Queen of Fairyland request your presence outside their official ballroom at seven o'clock tomorrow morning." He announced, holding out the scroll for Jack Frost to take. "Can I take a message back?"

"Yes, please tell the King and Queen I'll be there," Jack Frost said distractedly, skimming through the scroll to find more information, but seeing none. Bertram bowed slightly and hopped away, waving to the geese as he left. "What could King Oberon and Queen Titania want now?" he thought, confused, but went to bed, with his lingering melancholy warring with the curiosity in his heart.

He arrived outside the tall, pink gates five minutes to seven and scowled halfheartedly at the frog footmen at the door. He was feeling uneasy, as he hadn't seen a single fairy on his entire walk here, which was highly unusual. He eventually made it to the ballroom, escorted by one of the frogs, who quickly left once he saw the royal couple outside the ballroom doors. "Before you speak," Queen Titania said quickly, "I just have one request. Please, close your eyes and walk inside these doors and wait." Her beautiful face was creased with concern, and her glowing silver dress rustled as she extended a hand towards him. "Please, just try." He glared at her, but nodded and closed his eyes, waiting for the telltale scrape of heavy doors opening. He walked forward until he ran into something soft and tingling with magic, which unexpectedly wrapped him in a hug. He opened his eyes in surprise as he felt more arms wrap around him, and looked down to see all seven Rainbow Fairies wrapping him up in a tight hug.

"Hello again, Jack Frost," Amber whispered to him. "We're so, so sorry for giving up on you..." she trailed off. "We never should've given up, we should've helped you figure out your powers or anything to keep you from becoming so bitter, sad, and alone. We're sorry, can you ever forgive us?"

He nodded his head slowly and felt another tear slide down his cheek. But unlike the one from yesterday, this one felt warm on his skin, and fell not onto a cold, unforgiving ice balcony, but into Heather's hair, from where her face was buried in his chest, squeezing him as tightly as she could with her considerably smaller body and arms. "This is the f-first h-hug I've had...in so long…" he said sadly and felt tiny arms squeeze him tighter. "Th-th-thank you…" The fairies beamed up at him and Sunny and Inky grab his hands and drag him further into the ballroom and into a crowd of fairies he hadn't noticed before. They introduced him to all their friends, and every single fairy gave him a hug upon being introduced, and another several after he apologized to them for his actions during his bitter, self depressing cycle of attempting to gain negative attention.

Kirsty and Rachel fist-bumped each other from their spot near the doors. "It worked, Kirsty, it worked!" Rachel squealed and gave Kirsty a hug of her own.

"Good thing we watched Trolls yesterday, huh?" the other laughed back. "Should we give him his gift now?" She asked Queen Titania from her spot next to the regal fairy.

The queen nodded, and the two fairy-friends moved forwards, towards where Jack Frost was almost done with his whirlwind introduction to all the inhabitants of Fairyland. "Jack Frost?" Rachel called, slightly nervous. "May we speak to you?"

He looked up, and Rachel saw her nerves reflected in his eyes. "Yes, go ahead. But first, I wish to apologize for everything I've done over our acquaintance."

"We forgive you," Kirsty said gently, and came over and gave Jack Frost a hug of her own. "We understand that you were hurting, and just wanted to be near people, even if you thought they hated you."

Rachel chimed in next. "And we want to make sure that it never happens again…so we made you a gift." She held out a small leather bracelet with a snowflake charm tied like a watch face and gave it to him. He put it on uncertainly and eyed it. Rachel hurried to elaborate. "Queen Titania and King Oberon helped us. If you rub the snowflake, then anytime you're upset, then another fairy with a corresponding watch-bracelet will feel it light up, and she will come over to where you are. She can help you, even if it's just a hug or someone to talk to who isn't a goblin, and as wonderful as your new geese friends are, they can't talk back to you."

King Oberon chimed in, "Jack Frost, we feel the pain of our let down of you from your childhood deeply. When Kirsty and Rachel came to us with this idea, we were overjoyed to find a way to help you. Any fairy in this room has already agreed to wear the bracelet, and are completely willing to help you, even for matters that may seem silly. We hope you will accept the gift and our apologies."

Jack Frost looked down at his new bracelet, then at the arms of the fairies surrounding him. Ruby had a leather cord with a bright red flower on it, and Inky a drop of ink. Each of his new friends had a charm the shape of their magic produced and were identical to his otherwise. "Thank you…" he whispered softly. "Thank you." He was surrounded again by tiny arms and fluttering wings, all holding him tight, and Jack Frost smiled for the first time in many, many years.
