The Ultimate Detective and The Ultimate Hope Gaiden: April Fools!
"Makoto? Makoto?"
Vice-Headmistress Kyoko Naegi looked around her boss and husband's office, only the Headmaster was nowhere to be found. Huffing, she brought up the note that Makoto had left in her paperwork.
"Kyoko,
After you make your round of inspections, come back to our office. I've got a special surprise waiting!
Love,
Makoto
xoxo"
"…Honestly, where is that man? It's not like him to keep me waiting…"
As if on cue, Makoto walked in the door, a steaming, disposable mug in his hand. Smiling, he walked up to his now smiling wife, who leaned down to peck him on the lips.
"Hey, honey! Sorry I ran a little late; I had to reprimand one of the upperclassmen for trying to wedgie one of his kohai."
Kyoko's brows furrowed, the Vice-Headmistress feeling sorry for the student who had earned their reprimand. Her husband didn't usually exercise his intimidating side; that was her job. But on the rare occasions that he did, usually when she wasn't immediately available, he could be downright terrifying, as their Killing School Life made abundantly clear.
"Of course, I also told them to report to your office tomorrow to be properly disciplined." Makoto informed her.
"…Given how you actually went the extra mile to reprimand them, I'll let them off with a warning this time. So…what's the surprise, sweetie?"
Smiling, Makoto handed her the cup and offered "Here; I made you a cup of Civet Coffee; it's your favorite, right?"
Giving a blushing smile, she asked "And what's the occasion, sweetie?"
Giving an expression of mock offense, Makoto asked incredulously "Can't I simply want to show my wife how much I love her?"
Accepting his answer, Kyoko nodded before moving the cup to her lips, tipping the container and opening her mouth to let the coffee pour into her mouth and be absorbed by her taste buds. The instant it touched her tongue however, her eyes widened in disgusted shock. The Vice-Headmistress immediately spit it out, the mixture of coffee and saliva thankfully angled away from her husband as it landed on the floor.
Her nose wrinkled from the disgusting aftertaste, she exclaimed "BLECH! Makoto Naegi! What the hell did you just give me? It tastes like…bitter melon…and…coriander!"
Looking up to see her husband, she saw him start to snicker, before giggling, then progressing to full belly laughter. The Headmaster clutched his abdomen with his hands as he continued with his laughing fit, irritating his wife.
"I…I'm sorry, Kyoko…" Makoto wheezed, finally calming down as he asked "But do you have any idea why I had to stop some of our students' pranks today?"
"…I would assume it's because some people are juvenile bullies who need to be disciplined."
Shaking his head while a grin that would put the Cheshire Cat to shame stretched from ear to ear, Makoto pointed to the large calendar he kept in his office, snickering "Look at the da…date, Kyoko!"
Kyoko looked at the calendar, scanning the month that was currently displayed until her now widening eyes settled on one particular date circled in red marker: April 1.
"Oh…"
His grin still plastered to his face, Makoto announced "April Fool's, Kyoko!"
Kyoko's eyes were still widened in disbelief; it wasn't often that Makoto would try to tease or prank her. In fact, she was usually the one to make him blush and feel embarrassed.
Though I suppose that's why I never see it coming when he does… Kyoko reflected before turning back to her husband. The disgusting taste still strong in her mouth, Kyoko exclaimed "Alright, you've had your fun! Now I'm going to find a water fountain to wash out this disgusting aftertaste!" Hurrying out the door, she quickly bad him "Goodbye, Headmaster!"
Makoto sweatdropped as the door slammed shut, a slight tinge of guilt entering his heart as he reflected "…Maybe I went just a little too far with that one. I do know she hates bitter melon and coriander." Shrugging, he walked back to his desk, reasoning "Oh well, it makes us even for all her teasing over the years anyway. She'll forget all about it by the time we get home tonight, I'm sure."

*Buuuu!*
Kyoko continued to spit out into the water fountain, ridding the foul aftertaste in her mouth sip by sip. Blushing from the embarrassment of being snickered at by passing students, she at last completely rid the disgusting aftertaste from her tongue. With that, she began stomping back to her office, gears turning in her head with each step.
Makoto Naegi…I'll get you for this!

"Makoto! Dinner's ready!"
True to his prediction, Kyoko hadn't shown any hint of resentment towards him for his prank, smiling warmly at him once they got home from work. Urging him to relax while she got dinner ready, she started to cook as Makoto walked into the living room, turning on the TV and relaxing on the couch until she called him back to the dinner table.
Sniffing the aroma, Makoto complimented "It smells good, honey! What is it?"
Grinning at him, she informed him "It's curry with a side of salted meat and chocolate mousse cake for dessert."
As she put the plate and metal, semi-spherical lid in front of him, Makoto started to pant, his tongue loosely hanging from his mouth as he imagined the delectable meal his wife had described to him.
Oh, man! I am SO lucky! Now I REALLY feel bad for pranking her…
Makoto failed to notice the subtly mischievous grin on his wife's face as she lifted the lid; Makoto's eyes widened in shock, his look of pure pleasure morphing to one of pure shock as his dinner was revealed to him.
"AAAAHHHH! Kyoko, what is this? You know I hate vegetables…at least as a standalone meal!"
On the plate was a mixture of radishes, daikon slices, carrots, broccoli, and snow peas, otherwise known as every boy's meal from hell.
Looking up at his wife, he finally noticed her victorious smirk as she calmly uttered "April Fool's, Makoto."
His eyes widening in shock, Makoto reflected So I tricked her…but she ended up tricking me back…the most formidable opponent! "Ha ha, very funny, Kyoko! Now please tell me this isn't actually what's for dinner tonight?"
Rolling her eyes, Kyoko assured him "Don't worry; we still have some leftover curry in the fridge that I can heat up…" Makoto sighed in relief before she finished "But you have to eat your vegetables first." Seeing his indignant expression, she scolded "Don't give me that look, Naegi-kun. You need to eat your vegetables. If it wasn't for me, you'd probably avoid them at all costs!"
"But…"
Seeing his weak protests, Kyoko leaned in his ear, whispering "Besides…I wasn't lying about your dinner tonight. Imagine…that delicious curry, followed by that scrumptious salted meat…and to top it off…a sickeningly sweet chocolate mousse cake…make from Novoselic chocolate…"
Makoto gulped, his resistance taking a nosedive with each syllable she uttered.
Seeing her husband was just on the edge of surrender, Kyoko whispered tantalizingly "And if that's not enough…maybe I can be persuaded to let you drink some of my…honey afterwards…"
His eyes bulging out from their sockets at the promise of getting lucky, Makoto looked to the plate of vegetables, trying to compromise "…Can we at least sauce them with something? Like…butter…or marinara sauce…or…"
Sighing, Kyoko scolded "…Honestly Makoto…you're such a little boy sometimes…"
With that, Kyoko took one of the broccoli florets, popping it partially in her mouth before lathering it with her tongue, making sure Makoto saw the act, before leaning in close to her husband. Getting the memo, Makoto closed the distance, encircling her lips with his own, completing their kiss while she eased the floret into his mouth, letting the vegetable fall down his esophagus into his waiting stomach.
Breaking apart, Makoto savored the taste, musing "Mm…Essence of Kyoko…the most succulent condiment!"
Smiling in victory, Kyoko repeated her bribe, sucking on a vegetable before leaning down to kiss her husband and ease the food into his mouth. And so the cycle continued until the plate was completely empty. Smirking in victory, she went to prepare the main course, heating up the curry and meat as Makoto tapped his foot impatiently.
Once it was ready, she took the plate out of the microwave, getting the slice of cake out of the fridge as well before bringing them to her husband. Seeing him pant in anticipation, she watched as Makoto dove into the meal, eating with a gusto that could rival even that of Akane. A heat began to pool in her belly as she watched him eat, seeing his pants continue to tent with every bite he took.
Once he had finished his last bite of cake, Makoto turned to his wife with lust, stumbling out of the chair before picking her up bridal style.
Seeing her blush, he leaned down to her ear and whispered suavely "Let's get going, honey! I'm still waiting to taste your…honey!"
Rolling her eyes at his cheesy choice of words, Kyoko nonetheless wrapped her arms around his neck as he carried her to their bedroom, Makoto kicking the door closed as he prepared to feast on his final dessert for the evening.
Well…it may have been April Fool's Day, but I think it turned out pretty good for me!
