INTRODUCTION: I have been in a 4-month hiatus from writing KR Zero-One Profiles: Katana due another creator's block. But, don't worry, despite Zero-One is already on its 30 episode count, this will buy me enough time to go back on track with the story. And given the circumstances caused by the global pandemic, I thought about writing a different story. And this time, it's a crossover with Dead or Alive and the Modern Warfare reboot. It takes place after the events of DOA6's story mode and MW 2019's singleplayer campaign, and it focuses on the reboot version of Task Force 141 sent to kill or capture Victor Donovan.
Without further ado, this story is titled "Loose Ends", a reference to the infamous mission from Modern Warfare 2. Fittingly enough, it focuses on the loose ends between DOATEC and MIST with a third party involved: Task Force 141.
Chapter 01: Task Force 141 - Prologue
Following the aftermath of the sixth Dead or Alive tournament, DOATEC chairwoman Helena Douglas had something she can't get off her chest. It's not about the idea of resurrecting the deceased that a certain MIST scientist demonstrated, as shown when the scientist in question, NiCO, resurrected Raidou, who then again was used by Donovan for his twisted ambitions.
"Donovan's madness must end, once and for all. Loose ends must be tied.", Helena spoke to herself while sitting at her desk, looking on the picture of her father, Fame alongside her half-sister Kokoro.
For the past years, Donovan's existence has been hell for Helena, considering that he masterminded the deaths of her father, and then her mother. All she needed to focus on is to bring Donovan to justice for his crimes and she can finally achieve closure and her parents can be finally at peace. But, bringing in the Mugen Tenshin ninjas won't be enough...
Until a knock at her office's door answered her prayers...
"Please, come inside.", said Helena as the door opens, an American woman in her 40s walked towards Helena's desk.
The American introduced herself. "Kate Laswell, CIA. You're Helena Douglas, I presume?"

"How can I help you, Ms. Laswell?"
"Just call me, Kate.", Laswell continued. "I just came here when I heard rumors of MIST's illegal experimentation, as well the ringleader behind the organization, Victor Donovan."
It appears that Donovan's been on the radar for a long time. The Interpol and the US military have labeled MIST as a terrorist organization following a number of incidents occurring during the sixth Dead or Alive tournament, as Laswell told Helena. On top of that, Laswell has acquired intel about MIST from a certain assassin who once worked with Donovan in the past; who knows whoever told Laswell about Donovan may mean that he will soon face comeuppance.
Also, the informant who told Laswell about Donovan implied that Donovan is making connections with Al-Qatala, a Middle Eastern terrorist organization in Urzikstan involved with an uprising against Russian occupation. Though the occupation has ended when the rogue Russian general, Roman Barkov was assassinated during his escape. Rumor has it that he has hired terrorists to hunt down a certain ninja for Donovan's experiments.
"Al-Qatala...? You mean those terrorists responsible for the incident in London?", Helena recalled watching the news of the terror attack on the Piccadilly circus in London.
Kate continued, "Apparently, Al-Qatala was disbanded when two British SAS operatives captured one of its recruits, who is formerly a member of the Urzikstani resistance forces when they discovered his plan to take down General Barkov's gas factory in Georgia. However, AQ was restored back to its former glory under a new leadership."
Al-Qatala's resurrection thanks to its new leader is a greater global concern now that the US and Russia are prompted to work together to stop this threat following the invasion of Verdansk. Laswell also implies that there are Russian Ultranationalists backing up AQ since when her associate in the British Special Air Service (SAS) spoke that Imran Zakhaev's son Viktor plans to claim Barkov's throne. And the fact that Zakhaev survived the assassination attempt doesn't help matters either.
But, even more of a greater concern is that Donovan is hiring terrorists to further his dirty work. Worse, she can't rely on the Mugen Tenshin ninjas or Ryu Hayabusa for the matter with either of them not knowing the gravity of the threat. So, she decides to hire in a third party.
"Kate, do you know a few people whom I can rely on?", Helena asked.
"I see. You still have loose ends with Donovan.", the CIA agent continued. "If that's the case, I'm going to call in a task force to help you to hunt down Donovan."
"A task force?"
"As you can see, we made an agreement with Captain John Price, a member of the British Special Air Service, who came up the idea of creating a task force to hunt down Russian Ultranationalists who are backing Al-Qatala.", Kate explains the agreement between her and Price. "Perhaps I can bring you to them so they can begin their mission.", the American agent then presents to Helena four dossiers with documents of each of the task force's members.
Helena looked at each of the dossiers, starting with Sgt. Kyle Garrick's folder, now going by the name "Gaz".
"They're both SAS?", Helena clarified.
"So far, four members of the SAS are in the task force. In fact, General Shepherd has yet to assign members from other branches of the US military and other foreign members to the team.", Kate answered her question.
Besides Price's and Gaz's files, Helena then looked further on John MacTavish's dossier, who goes by the name "Soap".
"Just who in God's name ever calls himself "Soap"?", Helena muttered before looking into Simon Riley's folder. "There's no picture..."
Kate replied, "It's classified. Riley's true identity is a mystery, even for the rest of the team."
"What do they call the name of this task force?"
"141 (One-Four-One). Task Force 141."
Kate introduced Helena Task Force 141 in the way how Price did the same following Barkov's downfall. That said, Kate will once again contact Price and his team for their first mission, that is to hunt down Victor Donovan. Only this time, Kate has to bring Helena to Price.
"I could bring you to them."
Location: 22nd SAS Regiment Garrison, Stirling Lines, Hereford, United Kingdom
At the 22nd SAS Regiment base, a Blackhawk helicopter lands on the helipad, where Captain John Price is awaiting for Laswell's arrival. And, as expected, Laswell brought DOATEC CEO Helena Douglas with her to discuss the matter with MIST and Victor Donovan.
It's already been a month following the SAS, CIA and Urzikstani rebels worked together in defeating General Barkov's army. Price and his team are called to hunt down another dangerously potential target, only now that they no longer have Farah's army on their side now.
"John, I brought Ms. Douglas as you said.", said Laswell as Helena exits the chopper after her.
Captain John Price (ジョン・プライス隊長)
Voiced by: Joji Nakata (JP), Barry Sloane (EN)
"About time.", Price replied before introducing to Helena. "Captain John Price, 22nd SAS. Bravo Six. You're Helena Douglas, I presume."
"It's an honor meeting with you, Captain Price.", Helena politely replied in return. "I heard many things about you from Ms. Laswell."
"Say no more. You know why you're here, and it's about Victor Donovan.", Price continued as he leads Laswell and Helena inside the barracks.
Author's Notes:
- Whoever provided Laswell information about MIST and Donovan would be either Bayman or Christie.
- Helena's comment, "Just who in God's name ever calls himself "Soap"?" is a reference to classic Price's famous line, "Right… What the hell kind of name is Soap, eh? How'd a muppet like you pass Selection?"
- Joji Nakata is the Japanese voice for reboot Captain Price in this story. Nakata is also the voice of Leon since DOA5 following Koji Totani's death. And fittingly, Nakata also voices Fame Douglas in DOA: Dimensions, who is in fact Helena's father.
