Ch. 1
Vision hated having his guard down. It wasn't something he was used to. For the most part, he had happily spent his life so far showcasing himself as the perfect version of a human. Allowing himself to get so distraught over Wanda's arrest was uncharacteristic, and certainly outside of his original programming. Feeling well acquainted with the other Avengers involved in the debacle, Vision was unsure of why one specific red-haired witch was on his mind. Clint was surely missing his family right now, and Vision sympathized, but it wasn't the same.
"Vision?" Tony Stark interrupted his thoughts, placing a cup of coffee on the countertop in front of them, pulling out one of his iPads presumably to show him something.
"Yes sir?" He finally said, in his usual calm tone. The last thing he wanted to do was alert Tony that something was wrong.
"I wanted you to take a look at something." He said sternly, avoiding Vision's gaze. Rolling his one sleeve up, he passed the iPad over to Vision.
Vision's eyes flickered over the screen, analyzing the information presented in front of him. It was security camera footage. The Avengers didn't have any imprisonment facilities, so it was only slightly confusing as to what he was witnessing. Tony could sense Vision's confusion, and rested his face on his one hand.
"Listen, I wanted to see how they were doing in the Raft. When I found out what was going on..well.. I was hoping a more rational person could talk me out of this crazy idea I had…" Tony rambled on.
The android's eyebrows creased. The security camera footage was broken up into segments on the screen. Sitting on the floor on the top left screen was clearly Sam, also known as The Falcon. He looked terrible, although Vision couldn't make out a whole lot of features due to the quality of the camera, he knew there was blood on his face. Moving his gaze to the right, he noticed Clint, yelling and banging on the bars of his cell. A small smirk formed on his face, of course Clint would be the one to constantly fight back.
The Ant-Man was in the next cell… wearing some sort of large device on his person. It looked like a vest, but if Vision had to guess, it was to prevent him from shifting his size to escape. The last cell caused Vision's breath to hitch.
It was Wanda.
Normally, he would've felt elated to see her safe, even if she wasn't entirely thrilled about it. His main mission in signing The Accords was to ensure her protection, after all. This made him regret signing them. Tony noticed.
"Now listen buddy…I know things are bad."
"Bad?" Vision's calm tone was unsettling to both of them. The tension between both of them could've been cut with a knife.
Donning a shock collar around her neck and a straight-jacket, Wanda's face was covered in a mixture of dirt, tears, and blood. It all seemed crystal clear to him in observing the footage. He noticed a man walking near her cell. She started to scream.
Tony leaned in, acknowledging Vision's expression of disgust.
"They're harming her." Vision finally said, breaking the silence
"I know."
He set the iPad down and looked over at Tony. Something inside of him was screaming right now, and he didn't know why. He had always stood for the right thing, the good thing. Certainly this wasn't the right treatment for the other Avengers, regardless of whether or not they had followed The Accords. The last thing that mattered was that agreement.
His hands squeezed into fists "And you presumed that I would find a gray area in this situation where I convince you that this is the proper treatment for them?"
Tony's eyes finally met Vision's "I was hoping I saw incorrectly."
"You didn't"
"I want to do something, but Cap and I…" he trailed off
"Pardon my interruption sir, but your relationship with Captain Rogers is inconsequential to this situation. What's happening to them is immoral and cruel. We should have never signed those agreements. I'm afraid I made a grave miscalculation."
Tony looked down, Vision could tell when he blamed everything on himself. It was one of those rare moments where Tony's monsters were visible to anyone in the room. In a lot of ways, they shared similar battles. "We shouldn't have. But we did. If I go out there and help them… well… it could put them in more danger than they're in now."
"I don't believe that has to be an option." Vision's mind was racing. He knew the best way to save them was to get them out, but it had to be done discretely, and without causing a bigger scene with the United Nations than what they had already done.
"And you suggest…?"
"I propose that you provide me with Captain Rogers's contact information. I shall contact him on a secure network, and I will direct him to The Raft."
"You really think that's going to work?"
"With all due respect sir, it's our only option."
