He'd been debriefed and had a plan set. There should be no, or at most few, surprises as he makes his way through time. He shared a look with Bucky before listening to Bruce count down. Bucky knew he wouldn't be seeing him again in this timeline, but hopefully things would be better in another one.

.

First, he stopped to see Peggy. Having her point a gun at him was hardly new and definitely unsurprising; she was just as he remembered. He promised her answers and deflected when she asked about the suitcase. Tonight was just about a dance between heartbroken partners.

Next stop, he delivered the letter he'd shown her. He'd be back to this time in their morning, but he had other deliveries to make first.

The power stone was first. He trailed Nebula and Rodhey trailing Quill and quietly placed the stone on his unconscious body the moment they left. He wanted to stop Nebula from walking into the torture she was about to endure, but kept his distance. The trip to Vormir was lonely, but he was hoping his plan would work. He didn't intend to only save Bucky, after all.

He arrived and watched a heartbroken Clint leave the planet alone before hiking up the mountain with the suitcase in hand.

"Steven, son of Sarah. We meet again."

"Schmidt," he nodded. "You know why I'm here?"

"You have the stone. Though you are not who just left with it…" His empty eyes focused on Steve, and it took a lot of restraint to not attack the Nazi scientist.

"A soul for the stone. What about the stone for a soul?"

"She is dead. You can not change that."

"If I could?"

"She couldn't return to the one who traded her. I do not know what would happen if she did, but such circumstances are bound to have consequences."

"She lives but does not return? ...I can live with that."

"Oh? And how do you imagine you will breathe life back into her?"

Taking a deep breath he began to descend the cliff, aided by Mjolnir. Pulling out the time stone he focused on its power flowing over him. He had a glove to protect him from the radiating power that would harm him as he left the stones in their proper places, though it was far from the gauntlet that they'd fought Thanos over.

The air seemed to ripple around him and Natasha as he turned back time on her body. He placed the soul stone over her heart as she was slowly knit back together. The stone disappeared at the same moment she gasped in a breath.

"Steve?"

"Hey, Nat," he smiled.

"The-the stone!" She sat up quickly and looked around before jumping to her feet and whirling on him frantically. "Clint! Where is Clint! How are you here? Are we still on…" she continued spinning. Steve couldn't help but feel elated despite her distress.

"Natasha," his voice was almost a whisper, "you're okay now. We did it. The ones who were dusted, they're back."

Her eyes widened even more.

"They are?" she asked, afraid to be hopeful. He nodded and gave her another smile. He didn't have time to prepare for the aggressive hug she tackled him with and they both tumbled backwards laughing.

"It came with a price though," he spoke softly.

"What price?" she asked, her gaze fierce.

"You. You were… I didn't know if this would work. And… Tony. He…" Steve couldn't finish explaining. Not right now. He was too happy to have her back to focus on the fact he couldn't save that friend as well. "But now, well, we're paying another price." Her gaze remained sharp, even with tears in her eyes after hearing about Tony. "We can't go back. The trade for the stone was eternal, and Clint made that trade. You can't go back to him." He watched her process that. He knew how close they were.

"He's okay?" she asked hesitantly.

"He's actually retired this time. Staying with his family. Fury has all but made his farm a no fly zone." She smiled hearing that.

"So, what now? How am I…"

"I traded the soul stone for you. With a little help from the time stone. As for what now...I'm headed for 1970. I was thinking you could join me."

"Yeah...yeah I think I will." She gave home a big grin, but he could see the wheels turning behind her eyes.

"Alright, take this." He pulled the space stone from his suitcase and wrapped it in the glove he'd been wearing. "I'll meet you after I deliver the others." She nodded and he gave her the coordinates to Peggy's office at 8:35 the day he and Tony infiltrated the compound.

They shared another smile.

"See you in a minute," he teased her as she pressed her transport button using the particles that were supposed to send her home.

He left 2014 to return Mjolnir and the Aether to 2013. Visiting Asgard, he was nearly impaled on Frigga's daggers. He saw Jane passed out behind her and explained who he was. She mentioned seeing Thor. He was about to offer some sort of sentiment from him, but she waved him off.

"I'm a goddess of prophecy, child. Little surprises me, including my immediate fate."

"You know?"

She looked at Jane's form behind her.

"He loves her, no matter how fleeting love is. I couldn't protect his sisters, but I will give him time with this woman."

"I'm sorry."

"No. We all learn in different ways. This is his path and my place on it. He tried to warn me while he was here, but I didn't have the heart to tell him I already knew. "

They didn't say more as he injected the aether into Jane, left the hammer, and made his way to 2012.

This would be a bit trickier. The time stone was easy, simply return it to the Sorcerer Supreme. The mind stone was the difficult task. He decided to sneak in and leave the enclosed stone in Stark Tower while the Avengers were eating shawarma. He had minimal security personnel to avoid that way. He figured JARVIS would detect him, but it was unavoidable.

His last jump was heading back to 1970. He arrived in Peggy's office at the same time as Natasha.
