I only own my OC's. Enjoy.

Mobius, Tuesday Night, 22:45, Unknown Location

The searchlights probed the darkness of the compound, the bright light illuminating every corner of the flat space which was bordered by a fearsome looking eight foot high wall where two thick strands of barbed wire were placed on the top to bar any attempts made by intruders. A moving steel gate marked the only entrance in the wall and that was also well guarded with machine gun nests which were made of steel plates and sandbags.

Whether this was to prevent anyone getting in was questionable. But a fanciful person might suggest that it kept anyone from getting out. Guards in dark uniforms and helmets, armed with menacing looking guns strolled about in silence. The occasional mutter of a password being made for identification.

Inside the buildings were just was heavily guarded only now cameras were also present, panning to and fro across the hallways. Scientists in white coats and with badges on lanyards around the necks went about their work: updating notes, mixing chemicals or building machines. Again to any outside person this would have looked perfectly normal. Which was exactly what any outside person was made to think.

The lower level of the facility was, again, mostly labs and test chambers like upstairs. But a large portion of it was cages. These were why the security was as maxed as it was. Like a prison. For in the cages lay the subjects of the tests being done at the lab, and one subject in particular had been tested on and was being brought back at that very moment.

A door at the end of the corridor in the room in which the cages, or cells, or whatever you want to call them, opened and two guards strode in.

Between them they were dragging a pitiful looking anthropomorphic chipmunk. He had brown fur on most of his body, and tan fur around the front of his abdomen, muzzle and eyes which were closed. He also had voluminous auburn hair. For attire, he wore a pair of dark brown, worn out walking boots and his legs were dragging along behind him as he clearly had no strength left in him stand.

He also had on a black sleeveless vest with slight rips at the top on the front. On his face he bore, over his left eye, the mark of a violent blow. Possibly from a stick or something heavy.

Reaching a cell that was empty one of them let go of the chipmunk's left arm, withdrew a keycard from his pocket, sliced it in the lock and the door opened before they flung the chimpunk inside. He crashed onto the ground and groaned in pain as they slammed the door shut behind and him and locked it. A mobian wolf in the adjoining cage over, opened her eyes at the sound and moved next to the bars that seperated the two.

She was tall with light slate blue fur, except for her tail which has a black tip, old gold yellow eyes, and a single scar under her left eye. She had small cheek tuffs and her hair was somewhat spiky and mohawk-like, featuring a white streak, and was always bound in a braid. For attire, she wore a dark green tribal dress with blackcurrant violet purple lining, tied around the neck with a gold ring, and sandals of the same colour. Her hair was venice blue, she had small cheek tufts and her hair was somewhat spiky and mohawk-like, featuring a white streak and was bound in a braid down her back.

Finally her wrists, and left upper arm, were adorned with gold cuffs and a gold band was around her waist. "Are you alright Andreas?" she asked her voice holding clear concern for her fellow prisoner. Her voice seemed to give him strength and he forced himself to sit him and crawled over to lean against the back wall of his cell, where she was able to reach him through the bars.

"I've been better Lucine," he muttered his voice thick with pain.

"They just seem to enjoy beating us until our bones break or we die." He paused. "Whichever comes first," he added in a mutter at the end.

The she-wolf said nothing, but gently helped remove his vest before moving a hand to his shoulder. She began caressing his fur in an attempt to comfort him.

After a short while she asked "Why did they bring you back so early? Did something happen?" "I don't know," Andreas replied. "But I heard one of them say something about Project Creatura or whatever they're calling him now."

The she wolf raised an eyebrow, "Project Creation?"

"That's right," came the sullen reply.

Lucine frowned in thought before realising what the chipmunk was talking about. Him. She couldn't believe she hadn't caught on sooner. It should have been obvious to her that something had happened with the subject of the labs' most important project for Andreas to be brought back so soon.

Breaking out of her thoughts she asked "Do you think he'll be alright?" "Who? Him?" asked Andreas, "If I had to guess I'd reckon their gonna do something that'll nearly kill him again."

He paused.

"They nearly did once," he muttered quietly, but loud enough for her to hear.

"Isn't there anything we can do?" the she wolf asked in near despair.

"Fat lot of good we can do stuck in here," he responded, as she dabbed at his forehead with a piece of rag, she had soaked in water from a basin in her cell, both out of hopelessness and sorrowful anger.

Little did they know their chance would come sooner than expected.

In another part of the facility two guards were walking towards a set of high security cells, designed to hold subjects that had gone rogue or would go rogue if unconscious from an experiment. Opening the door of the block with a key card and entering they walked forward, before stopping outside the one at the end.

The only one in use at that moment in time.

The first one withdrew another key card from one of the many pockets in his dark uniform and after a row of small red lights above the insertion point flashed green, the super reinforced steel door opened and they stepped in.

There was only one occupant in the room. Chained heavily to the stone wall opposite by his wrists was an anthropomorphic hedgehog with his eyes closed. He was kimberly purple with six quills on his head, four of which curved upwards and two that curved downwards, two spines on his back, and a small tail.

He had a tan muzzle with watercourse green streaks on his quills, around the edges of his eyes, and on his arms and legs. For attire, he wore white gloves with black cuffs and red tongues, and Air Shoes which, like his gloves, had black cuffs and red tongues. On each of his wrists and ankles, was a single gold, or brass, ring.

From a normal point of view he appeared to be fast asleep. A tray containing a meal and a glass of water and utensils was nearby, and untouched.

This caused a slight miniscule of disconcertion to them, but it wasn't the first time the hedgehog hadn't touched food or drink. Given he was still chained to the wall and unconscious proved this fact.

The guards looked at each other, as if deciding who would approach first. The first one nodded his head to the other in the signal that means, take a look.

The other slowly moved forward, shifting across the floor, until he was standing right next to the hedgehog. He looked up at his companion for sign to continue, and recieved another nod in response. He moved and gently nudged the hedgehog's head with the barrel of his rifle. Nothing. He tried again and still nothing. Another attempt but once more, no response. Getting frustrated and worried he nudged the head again, much harder.

This only caused the hedgehog's head to loll to the left and stay there. The guard moved quickly back to his companion. Together they moved back to the door where he spoke. "You don't think he's...dead, do you?" the second one asked, "He'd better not be," the other muttered, though he was clearly becoming concerned with the rapidly growing possibility. "If he is, the Doctor will have our necks. Stay here. And don't take your eyes off him."

He strode out of the cell. The other guard, whose name was Guygen, hadn't seen any genuine action for a long time, since he'd come to the lab, and was content with this somewhat laid-back lifestyle. He'd become a little more attentive than normal and agressive, and was a bit overconfident. This present job was considerably better than his old one. All he had to do was contain the mobians being used for the tests, and he had learned to do so with relative ease.

Watching his companion move out of the cell he stepped forward, placed his gun on the ground, took out a key from one of his pockets and undid the chains holding the hedgehog to the wall freeing his wrists and ankles. He figured that if they needed to move the hedgehog it would be best to have him free.

As he bent down to pick up his gun he didn't notice one of the hedgehogs' eyelids slide up. The eyelid went back down as quickly as it had gone up as Guygen straightened up again.

As he did so, he heard a sound come from outside the cell. It sound like a voice, distorted by electricity, but still a sharp voice nonetheless and it didn't sound too happy either. The sound of it made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up on end.

"He'd better not be dead!" came the voice. "Or you will be joining him!"

Guygen listened for the other guard's reply which soon came, "He's not responding sir. Could be that the last experiment did more to him than first thought." There was a pause before the voice spoke, its owner obviously having thought about the reply, "Well, bring him up and I'll take a look. But if you're lying." The set went dead, the speaker did not need to continue, his threat hanging in the air and Guygen turned his attention back to the hedgehog.

It was the last thing he ever did.

In an instant a pair of gloved hands clamped around his throat, slowly starting to choke him. He was aware of a pair of blazing scarlet red eyes blazing wrathly into his, as a wave of black engulfed him. The grip on his neck was released and the last thing he heard before the darkness took him was a sharp, crunching snap as his gun was broken in two.

The guard in the corridor heard the snap. Followed by silence. Charging back along the corridor to the cell he took it in at a glance. Guygen dead on the floor, his gun close by snapped in two and the hedgehog was missing from his chains. All of which were unlocked and empty.

Bringing his gun up to his shoulder, ready to fire at anything that should prove to be a target, he surveyed every inch of the cell. There was nowhere the hedgehog could have gone. He couldn't faze through walls or the floor, so that only left. He instantly glanced up at the ceiling, but there was nothing there.

Then, he felt a weight spring onto his back and a pair of gloved hands grab hold of his neck from behind. His rifle dropped to the floor with a clatter as his hands flew to his neck in a vain attempt to get himself free. But it was no use. He collapsed on the floor, dead.

The hedgehog let go and jumped off as the guard fell. He turned the body over and, after a quick search through the many pockets on the guard's uniform, pulled out the key card. He smiled in quiet satisfaction. This was going to help him a lot.

Putting it in his quills he made for the door. Knowing he only had a certain amount of time before his escape was discovered. He walked out of the cell block and began prowling round the corridors looking. For what he didn't quite know.

After navigating his way around he came across a door marked with a notice reading MAIN COMPUTER ROOM NO ADMITTANCE WITHOUT PASS. Removing the key card from his quills he drew it through the lock and pushed the door open. He found himself in a large room with a large screen computer on one side and several smaller ones as well as wheeled chairs in front of them. Speakers also lined the corners of the room and walls; there was a microphone on one of the desks.

Walking over to the big computer he looked over the console before he started punching in commands and shortly a selection of files came up. They hadn't even bothered to shut it down. Selecting the file marked projects he started to flick through until one caught his eye. It was named Project Creatura. Creation, he thought and instantly opened it.

His gaze ran over the details on the screen before he pressed a button and waited for the information to download. He grabbed a red coloured plastic disk case from a small rack nearby and waited.

It wasn't long before a plain, silver disk appeared out of an insertion port on the console and he placed it in the case. The hedgehog knew most of the information on the file already. He had often overheard the scientists discussing such things, while he had been feigning unconsciousness, right in front of him.

Putting the disk to one side, he turned his attention back to the screen. He scrolled through the files once again eyeing the names. There was Blue Saber, Iron Dust, Shield Storm, the list went on until one name caught his eye. It was called Project Sunburst and it was by a Dr Gerald Robotnik. Robotnik he had heard that name before during one of the experiments done on him.

The one that had nearly killed him to be exact.

Deciding that it too would be worth taking he selected it and hit the download button on the console. As he waited for it to do so however, it happened. A loud sound blared out from the speakers in the room and a red light flashed in the ceiling, filling the room in a red glow.

A voice sounded out from the speakers joining the sound. "Subject Escape! Repeat, Subject Escape!" That's torn it! he thought savagely knowing that someone had missed the guards sent to check on him and take him up. Time was of the essence now and he whirled back round to see another plain disk sticking out of the slot on the console.

Without thinking twice he snatched it up, grabbed a gold coloured disk case from the rack, put it inside, shoved it and the red one which held the info from his file, into his quills, ran across to the door, pulled it open and tore off down the corridor.

As he came round a corner at the end of the hall, he found himself face to face with a group of guards, obviously heading to secure the computer room.

Now however they raised their guns and pulled the triggers. The hedgehog had little time to react, so he sped forward and felt a wave of powerful energy surge through him to his hands. The words that broke from him echoed off the walls.

"Chaos Control!"

A wave of pure energy rushed out in front of him at the guards. They were flung against the walls like bowling pins, and their guns broke apart with the force of the attack before the bullets could even leave the barrels.

He encountered more guards who tried in vain to stop him. Some got off a burst if they were lucky, but that was all. They couldn't hold him in chains anymore. Not now. Not ever.

Back in the cell block Andreas and Lucine, the latter having recovered his strength, were sitting in silence. Lucine eventually broke it. She said "We can't just sit here," "Not much else we can do, unless you want to get done in by the guards," Andreas replied grimly. The she wolf sighed "I know but I only wish we could," "Wishful thinking won't get us anywhere," he said. "I know."

Suddenly a loud noise made them stop and listen. They could hear the sounds of booted feet running hard and fast and, growing louder and louder, shouts and the vicious chatter of sub machine guns and assault rifles blazing away came from somewhere outside the block.

"What in the name of all Mo-" Andreas got no further in his sentence. The door at the end of the cell block, the entrance and exit, burst open with a bang and light filled the entryway. A figure raced in stopping in front of the pair.

Their eyes widened when they saw who it was.

They had only seen the hedgehog in front of them for a few times. When he was brought out for exercise, to test his powers or when he was given the rare chance to socialize with them. For at least a fulll minute the pair stared at the mobian in front of them. In fact all the mobians being held in the cells were staring at him.

Scarlet red orbs flashed in their own light as their owner stared at the two in front of him.

Lucine was the first to find her voice. "How did you," she began, but the hedgehog cut her off. "Never mind how I got out, are you both alright?" he asked. "Andreas is a bit bruised and sore, but we're alright," Lucine replied. "And so is everyone else," put in Andreas and the hedgehog nodded.

He moved forward to the door of the chipmunks' cell and examined the lock with a scrutinizing glare. Straightening up he thought for a moment before speaking. "I'll try to blast the lock off, stand clear." He stepped back and small sparks began to fly as two yellow orbs of energy appeared around his closed fists.

Unfortunately he got no further. Voices from outside followed by a shout of, "He went this way! He's probably in the cell block!" pulled him up short. The other two had heard it as well, and it became clear in an instant that the guards were coming their way and quickly. He turned to them, "I'll get you out, hang on!" "No you have to go!" said Lucine quickly "She's right don't worry about us," Andreas added.

"NO! I'M NOT LEAVING YOU!" the hedgehog roared "We'll be fine, trust us," Andreas cut in "but you do us or yourself any good if you're caught again."

The hedgehog struggled to find an answer. Not finding one, he pulled the key card from his quills, looked at it, and passed it through the bars to Andreas. Said chipmunk looked at him confused "But why?" he asked "Keep a hold of it, it'll come in handy," came the reply as he looked down at it again.

As he thought about where to hide it Lucine looked at the hedgehog. "You better go," she said and he nodded, moving towards the door stopping as he got there. Turning around to face them he gave one last proclamation "I'll come back for you," his gazed revolved around the room. "All of you," he added before vanishing through the door.

Andreas was still debating on where to hide the key card knowing he only had seconds remaining. He reached down and quickly slid it into one of his boots. Lucine watched with a raised eyebrow "You really think that'll work?" she asked incredulously. "You have any better ideas," he shot back as he finally pushed it out of sight.

There was only seconds left to spare as three guards charged through the open door. Coming to a halt in front of the cells they glanced round rapidly eying the mobians behind the bars. The glares and looks they recieved were palpable. One of the guards stepped forward. "Where is he?!" he barked at those in the cells but none of them answered. "These guys can't tell the difference between those behind bars and those out," Andreas said. Shut up you idiot! Lucine thought to herself knowing full well what would happen if he continued.

The chipmunk went on. He was either unconcerned or, and this was quickly becoming Lucine's main thought, he was stalling for time. "They have skulls made of concrete and absolutely no brains - can I help you?" One of the guards, a hard faced man with cropped brown hair, his face red from what was either having had too much to drink or anger, heard this and had strode over to the cell Andreas was in and was staring at him with face or purple fire. "Say that again," the guard demanded. Andreas gave a secret wink to Lucine. "Absolutely no brains at all," he said to the guard. "Bulls in a china shop."

Lucine's senses were on high alert now. The viens in the guard's neck were standing out like ivy on a tree trunk, and his eyes were suffused with blood. The jaw was out like the ram of an icebreaker. And to Lucine's amazement, she saw that the right fist was drawn back, ready to spread Andreas's teeth all over the back of his head. "Andreas," she said. Andreas looked at her. "Andreas relents, sir," said Lucine. "Temper," said Andreas. The guard's face remained clenched. "You're on a charge, Andreas," said Lucine, mildly. "I know," said Andreas.

A new voice suddenly cracked like a whip. "Captain!" The guard's heels crashed together. His florid face was suddenly grey. He knew who the voice belong to. He had come within a whisker of assaulting one of the test subjects. While discipline was strongly enforced to keep the subjects in order injuries that required a lengthy period of time to heal from were not ideal.

He wasn't the only one who knew the voice for the mobians in the cages all started shivering when they heard it. Two figures stepped into the cell block. Both were hedgehogs but they were different in appearance. The one who had spoken had chocolate brown fur with a peach muzzle and tyrian purple eyes that were cold and hard. His gloves had blue cuffs with free speech blue tongues whilst his shows had a similair design to air shoes but without the jets to propel him forward. They were blue and white instead of just two different shades of blue. On his chest was a patch of snow white fur which looked like several small bird wings merged into one.

His companion was completely different. Grey fur covered most of his body and silver skin on his arms, muzzle and front torso which was shaped like a shield. Six long upward quills adorned the back of his head, two spines protruded from his back behind his shoulders, along with a short tail. Completing his attire were purple sneakers with white straps and gold buckles.

There was an air of both authority and quiet menace about them which instantly made itself known. Those in the cages knew it and so did the guards. The two hedgehogs were both mercenaries in truth but in the service of the lab they were mainly used as enforcers to keep discipline among the test subjects. Andreas and Lucine knew and had seen first hand what the pair could do if they were told to enforce order.
