Another proposal one-shot, but what can I say? I got inspired by the last one I wrote. Just didn't have the time to write. I do know, however. That's all you have when you're on lock down: Time.
Anyway, please enjoy

Monica is lying awake that night, after her and Chandler's big date - the date where they ran into Richard.
She can't sleep, she has too many thoughts, too many wonderings, just too much on her mind.
Finally, she gives in to her wonderings. "Chandler?" She whispers. "Are you awake?"
He groans in his normal Chandler-way, and Monica knows exactly what it means: "Yes I'm awake, if it's really important and it can't wait 'till morning. But if it's not that important...then can't it wait 'till morning?"
"I need to ask you something." She continues knowing that if she doesn't, she won't get any sleep tonight. "And I need you to not freak out... If I'm wrong."
That wakes him up fully. "W- wh- what's wrong." He stutters in a mild panic.
"Nothing..." She assures him. "It's just... Tonight - and if I'm wrong it doesn't mean anything, so don't freak out." She quickly adds once again. "But... were you going to proppose to me tonight." She looks at him nervously. She can't see his face clearly in the dark, but she takes the fact that he's holding his breath and saying nothing as a sign that he's freaked out.
"It's just there were so many signs." She explains. "The big date, the way you acted, the way the others acted when we got home, and even before." She lists but he still doesn't react. "But given you reaction, or lack of reaction, I'm thinking I was wrong, so just forget I said anything, okay?" She turns her back towards him, so there's no way that he can see the tears forming in her eyes.
A few moments later, she feels him getting out of bed. 'Is he going to sleep on the couch?' She ask herself. 'Why did you have to bring this up?'
However, she feels him getting back in bed only a few seconds later.
A few more moments passes by. "I thought what I said, and where I said it was important." He whispers in the dark. "And I wanted it to be that way, but it seems mean if I prolong it now."
Monica turns around slowly and faces him. "Prolong what?" She asks with a small smile, thinking she knows where this is going.
"Oh well, I'll just get on with it." He chuckels nervously. "Okay, Mon, I need to ask you something, and I need you to not freak out."
Monica's smile vanishes. "Sure, what's wrong?" She asks worriedly and a little afraid.
"Nothing..." He repeats her words. "It just... If I would have planned a proposal tonight... would you then had said yes?" He says it gently.
"No." Monica says firmly. "No, you don't get to ask me that way, as it is a hypothetical situation in the past. I won't answer such a question." She talks slowly but firm.
Chandler takes a deep breath. "Then... let's say I asked you in a not-hypothetical situation right now, would you then say yes?"
Monica looks at him, she knows what he means, but she wants to hear him say those four little words she has always dreamed of hearing a man say, hearing Chandler say. "That's at least half hypothetical." She answers him.
"Fine." He sighs. "Monica... In every not-hypothetical way, I am asking you to marry me. In the not to far future, so, will you... marry me?" He looks towards her and hate the dark room for hidding her expression.
"When you ask like that, then how could I say no?" She finally whispers. He smiles and leans forwards to meet her lips in a reassuring kiss, while his hands fidget for the ringbox he has just picked up from his jacket pocket.
He pulls back. "So, that means I've been worried about nothing?"
"You have been worried?" Monica asks beaming. "That I would say no? You really want this, huh? It's not just because it's what I want."
"If it was." Chandler finds the ringbox. "Do you then think I would have bought you a ring like this?" He opens the box, once again hating the dark room, but not waning to ruin this moment with turning away, not even to turn on the light.
"OH MY GOD." Monica says a little bit louder than she intended and Chandler cringes a little, forever reminded about Janice by those words in that pitch. "I suppose not." She chuckles putting her hand in Chandler's so he can put the ring on her finger.
Once it's done, their lips once again find each other and before they know it, it's getting hotter.
A knock and a voice from outside the door stops them, however. "Guys?" Phoebe's voice sounds. "I heard Monica scream 'OH MY GOD' and it didn't sound like her usual sex scream, so did anything interesting just happen?" Her voice is excited.
Monica brakes the kiss and she finally turns on the light. "Yes, Phoebe, you can come in." She answers before really admiring her engagement-ring. "Wow Chandler, this is really beautiful." She whispers.
"Right?" Phoebe says. "Princess cut, Diamond in the middle and Saphires on each side." She list and Monica's eyes question her. "I helped pick out the ring." She explains. "But where are my manners? I haven't even congratulated you guys yet... And you haven't even told me yet." She then realizes.
"You're right." Monica says. "Phoebe, Chandler asked me to marry him, and I said 'yes'." She deadpans and Chandler sighs.
"Uhh, congratulation." Phoebe awes. "May I see the ring?" Chandler sighs again, Monica rolls her eyes but shows her the ring. "Wow, very beautiful. Chandler has good taste." Phoebe continues the bit.
"You're not getting it." Chandler tells her the obvious.
"Of course not. It's too late now. She said 'Yes'." Phoebe says matter-of-factly.
"You thought I was going to say no?" Monica asked a little hurt.
"No." Phoebe sighs. "But a girl can dream about a ring, without it meaning she doesn't want her friends to be happy, right?" Both Monica and Chandler shake thier heads. "Well then I think it's time for me to get back to bed." She raises herself from the end of the bed where she has been sitting. "Congratulation, again." She wishes them as she leaves.
"Phoebe, wait." Chandler calls out, and her head pops in again. "Thank you, again, for the help with the ring. I don't think I would have gotten it, if it wasn't for you, so thank you." He says sincerely.
"No problem." She says, then smirks. "And I know how you can pay me back... let me play at the wedding."
"Good night, Phoebe." Chandler ignores her request.
"Wait." Monica chimmes in. "Don't tell anyone else, we would like to tell them ourselves, okay?"
"No problem." Phoebe assures her. "But they already know, you know."
"I know, but we still want to tell them." Monica replies.
"Then you should, good night." She leaves for good this time, but not without one last comment. "Please don't be too loud when you're having your engagement sex, somebody would like to get some sleep."
Both Monica and Chandler blush, then Monica turns to Chandler. "So what happened?" She asks him. "Last week, you were totally freaked out about the fact that I put down our names, for some time in the furture. What changed your mind?"
"Well, of course I freaked out a first." Chandler chuckles. "But then I realized that maybe it wouldn't be that bad, maybe I was ready. So, I went out to buy engagement ring brochures directly after that. I was reading them in the bathroom, when Phoebe saw me. She convinced me to go see the museum - and it is truely beautiful, by the way - we then went out to buy a ring the very next day..." Chandler tells her.
"Then you invited me out to dinner, where yo were going to propose." Monica continues. "But then we ran into Richard and you chickened out."
"I decided to do it tomorrow but then all of our friends ruined it with making it obvious." Chandler rolls his eyes. "So, I decided to wait and trow you off a little first."
"But I had other plans." Monica says. "Because as you feared... I figured it out and called you out on it."
"So, I went for it. And now, we're getting married." Chandler finishes.
"Good story." Monica smiles. "We should tell it to our grandkids."
"Wow, wow, wow." Chandler panics. "We're having grandkids?"
"Chandler, Sweetie." Monica says gently with her hand on his chest. "When you ask somebody to marry you... then you're supposed to be over your commitment problems."
"Right. Sorry." Chandler says quickly.
"You're so cute." Monica smiles and leans in to kiss him gently on the lips. However, the kiss develops and this time there's no Phoebe to interrupt them.
They don't even remember her request to be quiet.

The next morning, they are all having breakfast in apartment #20 when Monica appears from the bedroom.
"My hand feels weird." She says after the goodmorning greetings. They others express concern. "Maybe it's beacuse... I'M ENGAGED!" She says excited and holds up her hand.
"What?!" Rachel exclaims as she runs over to Monica. "Did he do it? Wow, that ring is even more beautiful on your finger. Congratulation." She says as she hugs her.
Ross and Joey turns to Chandler. "So, what happened to trowing her off first?" Joey asks as both he and Ross pat Chandler on the shoulder.
"She called me out on it." Chandler explains. "It seemed mean keeping up the act after that."
They all nood and come together in one big group hug.
"You guys are so lucky." Ross says. "You're going to have a wedding."
"I KNOW." Monica exclaims.
