It's been a while.

Summary: For reasons unknown, Ash somehow traveled 5 years in the future. How would this affect him, his Pokemon, and the world around him? More importantly, how could he go back in time in order to return to where and when he once was?

It was a very peaceful day in the Kanto Region. Particularly in one part of it. The tall grass and the large oak tress swayed with the breeze, flocks of Pidgeys soaring through the air, and the mute cries of Caterpie and Weedle in the area.

Viridian Forest was still a sight to behold, even when many trainers, new and experienced, have traveled here before. Even more so that 4 years ago, a certain Grass-type Gym Leader made a planting program for the forest to further help Kanto's environment, as well as making it a habitat for Pokemon form other regions. Naturally, a lot of people, including the Gym Leaders, some of the Elite Four, as well as Grass-Type gym leaders from other regions helped with the project, and thus resulted in a new breezy, colorful, and lively Viridian Forest.

There were a few flower beds in the area, where Budew, Cherubi, Morelull, Bounsweet, Floette, Gossifleur, and their respective evolutions now reside in it as their habitat, as well as wandering Comfey. The forest was the only place in the Kanto Region where non-Kantonian Pokemon live in. There was also a giant beehive on the bottom left corner of the whole forest, home to the Combee and the Queen Bee Pokemon, Vespiquen.

But the biggest change to the place, was that of a giant oak tree set dead center of it. Its trunk, almost as solid as steel, but with a perfectly balanced texture of both smooth and rough, its leaves, pure green and filled to the brim with chlorophyll, and a circle of lily flowers surrounding it. And on the flower bed, a young trainer was lying down, eyes closed, unconscious, but no signs of harm shown around his body.

"Mmm…urgh."

The boy groaned as he woke up, still dazed, and confused with his surroundings.

"Argh, my head… what happened to me?" The boy asked himself, his head still in a whirl.

He looked around, and was greeted with one of the most beautiful forests he had ever seen in his journey. Morelull dancing in the middle of the bed of flowers he had been lying down upon, Comfey floating through the air, wafting a soothing aroma, and glowing luminous moss scattered around the edges of the forest.

Of course, what stuck out to him the most was the massive tree to his right, which the boy marveled at its size and beauty. He began to recall some memories soon after, which left him with even more questions.

"Wait a minute… I remember. I was just going through the Viridian Forest. Which begs the question… how did I end up here?"

"I don't think I've ever been in this forest. There's Gossifleur, Cherubi, and Floette here, which is something I've never witnessed before, since I've never seen them in the same habitat."

"And… this gigantic tree." The boy walked closer to it, with the intent to touch it.

He touched the tree and-

The boy saw visions.

He saw visions on what had occurred to him, albeit a bit blurry.

He walked through the forest leading to his hometown.

He reached the dead end of the forest, and tried to backtrack his way out of there.

He suddenly saw a blinding flash of light and a cry from out of nowhere, and-

He was gone.

A day had passed, and he never came back.

Another day had passed, and things remained the same.

The boy saw this, and was frozen in place, shocked that this happened to him.

Then suddenly, the sun set, and the moon rose.

The moon set, and the sun rose.

The boy witnessed this in the blink of an eye.

He saw the entire forest, undergoing the same exact phenomena.

He observed the Pokemon, moving so quickly even a Shellos could finish a marathon in minutes.

He observed the Trainers, Workers, and Gardeners planting and clearing the forest at superhuman speeds.

He saw a sapling, rapidly growing into a behemoth of a tree.

He saw how Viridian Forest had changed, from the damp forest he knew of, to something out of a picture book.

He saw time fly by faster than he'd ever witnessed before. Months passed in seconds, and years passed in moments.

Suddenly, the boy was getting sucked in.

The boy tried to resist, but he kept getting sucked in.

The boy wanted to know why this was happening to him, what was causing it, and how this was happening.

The boy kept on resisting relentlessly, until another blinding flash of light appeared, making the boy close his eyes and flinch.

He opened up his eyes, and saw his body, unconscious, lying down on the newly grown flower bed.

As time started slowing down, the boy realized why he was getting sucked in.

He was getting sucked in towards his body.

The boy, now knowing this, now knowing what had happened to him, closed his eyes, and let the forces do its bidding.

He heard a certain cry again and-

##################################################################################################################################################################################################

The boy jolted awake with a gasp, sweating.

He blinked, once, twice, and realized he was lying down on the ground again.

He rose up, this time having full knowledge on what had occurred.

"So that's what happened to me…", the boy said in awe and shock.

He looked around his surroundings again, now knowing where he is.

"This is… so this is Viridian Forest?", he questioned.

"No wonder these Pokemon now live in the same habitat. They were transferred, then bred, and continued to coexist here."

"That explains the tree as well. I would've never thought that this big guy would be in Viridian Forest, or any other place in Kanto for that matter."

"Now the big million Pokedollar question is… how the heck did I travel so far into the future? Actually, I don't even know how far I travelled, or where I am.", the boy pondered.

"Wait, where I am? I know where I am. When I am? Argh, this time travel stuff is way too confusing…", he said with a sigh.

Seconds pass, then a loud sound rang out in the center of the forest. The boy had clapped his hands on his cheeks.

After a few minutes of getting himself together, the boy looked toward the sky with a determined look on his face.

"Well, whatever situation I'm in, there's no way I'm backing down from it!", he said, fixing the cap on his head.

The boy raised his fist in the air triumphantly, and shouted.

"I'll find my way back, I'm sure of it! A little something like this won't budge me, Ash Ketchum!"

And so, Ash continued his trek out of Viridian Forest in hopes of finding answers from his hometown in Pallet.

Author's Note: Hello there. My username's too frigging long, so just refer to me as Plot. Anyway this is technically my first-ever fanfic. After a year of reading fanfictions and being amazed (and appalled, but most of the time amazed) by the stories that people can create through this medium. My 16-year old brain at the time decided, "Hey, you should make one of your own!", which led to this. Now, as much as I'd like to continue this story, I definitely know that I can't muster up the creative juices to actually make a decent story. In fact I'd say that my writer's block would probably be like the Great Wall of China. So, I'm open for anyone to adopt and/or revise my story, becuase I think this concept is just too good to pass up on, no need to ask for permission. If this story were to land in a capable author's hands, dare I say it would make it one of the best stories of this site, but that's probably just my ego talking. As of now, I'll just stick to reading fanfiction.

That's it, thank you for reading, and I hope this story got you interested in you wanting to expound on it more.
