She had screwed up. Really screwed up. Like totally, massively screwed up. It shouldn't have happened. It was a moment of weakness and high emotions. But it happened: She and Tim kissed! And it shouldn't have happened.
That's why Cassie was in Gotham. She needed to talk to him. She needed to set things straight. This wasn't healthy for either of them. They had lost someone close to them. Heck, Tim lost several people close to him and getting into a relationship because of that was wrong.
To be fair, getting into a relationship in the first place was a bad idea. Not that she disliked Tim, he was one of her closet friends nor was he bad looking. They were friends and she wouldn't want to ruin that, even if these were better times.
Cassie flew over Gotham, trying to spot Tim or at least one of the other Bat people around that could point her into his general direction. Gotham was big city, but given how many costumed crime fighters that roam here, she would at least spot on of them in short order.
Sure enough, she saw one. She was too far away to see who it was, but one was good as another. She flew down, hoping she could catch the figure.
"Hey wait" Cassie screamed, hoping that the figure would hear her and stop. Sure enough, he or she did. Cassie landed and looked around. The figure had vanished. Cassie didn't like this. Had she made a mistake and it was one of the many nutjobs that infested the city that she saw?
Cassie got her answer when the figure stepped out from the shadows. It was Jason Todd, the Red Hood.
"You"! Cassie didn't hesitate and charged. While she had more that a few reasons to attack, stress relief was good a reason right now as any. Cassie struck, only for Jason to effortlessly dodge. She spun around for a round house, Jason leaned back and pushed her leg away, causing her to spin a bit.
Jason then pulled out her twin pistols and fired. Cassie trying to reflect the bullets with her bracelets, only for her not to be fast enough, getting hit in several places.
She had enough. She grabbed her lasso, trying to ensnare the Red Hood, only for him to grab it. Big mistake. She went to shock him, only for him to throw a capsule of some kind of jell and throw it into her eyes. Before she could react, Jason had pulled the lasso forward with Cassie in tow and fly forward, a fist to the face the last thing she felt.
When she came to, the jell was out of her eyes and she was laying on the roof, tied with her own lasso. Jason was standing before her, his helmet now off.
"Ok blondie, want to tell me what this was all about"? Jason sounded annoyed. Then again, he always sounded that way.
"Why the hell should I tell you anything"? Cassie was trying to sound tough. Sadly, she was failing and she was a scared and at the mercy of a man who had already curb-stomped her entire team in the past and had no hesitation in killing.
"You didn't come all this way just to pound on little old me and given your performance, you clearly aren't thinking straight. Plus, your current situation doesn't leave much room for anything else for you. So you might as well spill" And he was right. Cassie wasn't in her right mind and she didn't have many options. That didn't mean she would play by all his terms though.
"Untie me and I'll tell you".
"Don't you think I would do that" Jason let out a small laugh at the suggestion, like he would let her a chance to attack him again. On the other hand, she likely would still be at a disadvantage. He decided to take the risk and untied her.
Cassie looked at one of the rounds that was still on the ground, curiously studying it "Rubber bullets"?
"Trying to be a little less...conspicuous" Jason explained "Don't need Batman breathing down my neck. Now spill".
Cassie would rather talk to almost anyone right now. But she need to bare her soul right now, otherwise her might explode "I was looking for Tim".
"What do you need with replacement" Cassie resented someone referring to Tim in such a manner, regardless of who it was. Tim had more than earned him place as Robin and worked hard for it. He was no one's replacement.
"Well" Cassie continued "I discovered him in hidden lab under Titan's Tower. He was trying to clone Conner".
This got Jason's attention "He was trying to clone Superboy?! How would that work considering he was a clone anyway? Wouldn't he be degraded or something"?
"Forget it! This was a mistake"! Cassie shouted, not liking Jason rather innocent inquiry.
"I'm sorry. My mind wanders at times" A genuine apology, something Cassie never thought Jason would ever do. Cassie calmed down and continued her story.
"Well, I took the obvious approach and told him off. Whatever he made would not be Conner and it was foolish to try. We got into an heated argument and in the heat of the moment...made out".
Jason was actually shocked by this. For a moment, he had no words. This was heavy stuff, he had to admit. Normally, he would make humor about this situation or blow it off. But he was never one to mock a woman about her troubles. He wasn't that big of an asshole.
"I take it that you both realized what happened at bolted"? Cassie simply nodded. Not knowing what else to say.
"Look, I'm not all that good at this" Jason said "You two have dealt with some heavy shit in the last year, with all the crap you lost. Trust me, I can relate. But, you got analyze this. Do you have genuine feelings for replace...Tim? Or are you just leaning on each other because of all the stress you have been under. Don't get into something that might screw up what relationship you have with him. If you got something that could happen, then go for it. But in the end, this is something that you should really discuss with Tim".
Cassie lifted her head, a weight lifted from her. Jason took the time to look at her. He had to admit, she was attractive. Golden hair, pretty face, and one of the nicest racks he had ever seen. Jason then snapped out of his perv mode to listen to Cassie.
"Well...thanks. You know, for a violent hot-headed jerk, you have your moments" Jason took that as a complement.
"If you're looking for Tim. He's likely at Wayne Enterprises. He tends to hide there or at the manor these days from what I've seen".
Cassie said her goodbyes and headed towards Wayne Enterprises, planning to take Jason's advice. Jason looked up, admiring the view.
"Don't think about it Todd" Jason said to himself "Girl like that is too good for the likes of you, even if she wasn't dealing with some shit. Don't know what she saw in a doofus like Kent though. Oh well, the streets await".
