Redgrove

Episode Five: Consequences

Featuring the Redgrove Doctor, the Alternate 5th Doctor, Janet Redwood, Tara Watson, Mr Thomas and the Redgrove Master

The TARDIS materialised in Redgrove HQ, which looked abandoned and had the words 'YOU LET OUR PLANET BURN' sprayed onto a wall in red paint.
"Is this really Earth?" Janet wondered, running to the window and staring in shock at what she saw: it was an abandoned road, with trees and gravel chucked here and there. A red London bus fell from a portal in the sky and crashed onto a Mini that was driving along.
"This is Earth." the other Doctor grimly said, "Any ideas about what could have happened?"
"Tyrex Marsham. Ever heard of him?" the Doctor wondered, gazing at the remnants of his lab.
"Tyrex Marsham? That was the name of a fictional character."
"What was Tyrex Marsham from?"
"I think it was Galaxy Masters."
The Doctor's face was one of pure fear.
"That means that this was a trap. Tyrex was just an invention, a distraction. It distracted us from what was really going on."
"And what was really going on?" Tara asked, before a purple flash heralded the arrival of Tyrex, who was grinning like a little boy.
"Hello everyone!" he yelled happily, "The Earth's mine now. If anyone wants to take it from me, then they'll have to go against the most powerful force on Earth."
He took out a golden gauntlet and fired a beam of purple light at the two Doctors, making them disappear. He then turned to the others and took out his laser screwdriver.
"People of Redgrove, please attend carefully. I am the Master and you will obey me!" he roared, with a wolfish grin on his face.

The other members of Redgrove re-entered the TARDIS and locked the door.
"What the hell do we do now?" Janet asked, heading to the console with Tara and Mr Thomas.
"I'll arm myself and defend the door. You two try and figure out how to fly this thing. We need to get the Doctor back and fast." Mr Thomas instructed, taking out a pistol and aiming it at the door.
"No, the Doctor can fend for himself. After all, there are two of them for goodness sake. We need to sort out the mess the Master's made here." Tara said, "Any ideas?"
"Let's travel back to find the Master and rewrite all of this." Janet said, adjusting the controls until the console made a satisfying bleep.
"I feel like we're children trying to drive a car." Tara remarked.
"Agreed. But it's either the end of the world or plummeting the TARDIS to our doom. Which one do you want?"
Tara flicked several switches and dematerialised the TARDIS, to the annoyance of the Master.

The Doctor and the other Doctor had arrived on a desert planet which had beige sand and a purple sky that kept changing. It took them a couple of seconds for them to realise where they were.
"We're on Tirasmus, the only planet that is able to traverse the Time Vortex!" the other Doctor cried, as she ran forward to uncover a small golden box with a large red button on it.
"Do you want to press it or shall I?" the Doctor said, grinning, as he slammed his fist down on the button and teleported them away.

The two Doctors were now back in Redgrove HQ, prior to the Master's invasion of the universe. But, they noticed Tara Watson staring at the pair of them in amazement two seconds after they had arrived.
"Doctor, who's she and what are you doing here?" Tara asked, putting her equipment down and walking over to them.
"It's complicated. I'm a version of your Doctor from the future and this is, erm, oh dear." the Doctor explained, not knowing how to explain that the strange woman next to him was also him but not him but a version of him from another universe.
"Let's just say I'm a very good doctor." the other Doctor said, trying not to draw attention.
"Yes. Now, you need to listen to me. Something big is going to happen and I need to stop it, so please don't say a word of this to my younger self." the Doctor ordered, "Somebody's going to try and invade the universe. He's going to open a whole between universes and let them smush together. We've been brought back here to end it before it ever begins."
"What do you want to do?"

Tara was beginning to remember her encounter with the Doctor's future self, as the TARDIS flew back in time.
"Guys, I think I'm remembering something," she announced, "I met the Doctor a few days ago and he said he was from the future. He's in the past already and if we gatecrashed, then perhaps that only could exacerbate the wound."
"What do you suppose we do then?" Janet asked.
"I know what we need to do." Mr Thomas said, resetting the controls to arrive in Redgrove HQ just before the Master arrived.

The TARDIS landed and Tara, Mr Thomas and Janet emerged, noticing the Master stood by the doorway. Mr Thomas took out a pistol, clicked it so that the weapon was ready to fire and fired it seven times at him, making the Master collapse to the ground, dead. Even as his limbs began to regenerate, Mr Thomas kept firing at the Master. When there was no more regeneration energy left, Mr Thomas turned round to face the team.
"It's done." he said, dragging the body into the TARDIS and dematerialising, just as their past selves entered the lab.

The Doctor, the other Doctor and Tara were inside the TARDIS and the two Doctors were trying to make the ship dematerialise. However, as the TARDIS had no dematerialisation circuit installed, they weren't going anywhere.
"I'd forgotten about my exile." the Doctor remarked, sighing grumpily.
"You got exiled?" the other Doctor asked, curious.
"Yes. The Time Lords exiled me because I was interfering with other planets' schemes."
"In my home universe, the Time Lords died."
"I think you mentioned that."
"Did I?"
"Probably."
"Huh."
The doors flew open and the past Doctor stared in shock at his future self.
"What are you doing here?" the past Doctor demanded.
But the two Doctors from the future faded away, as time reset itself.

The two Doctors reappeared in Redgrove HQ with the others, in front of the Master's corpse.
"Which one of you did this?!" the Doctor yelled to his team, furious.
"I did." Mr Thomas confessed.
"Why? Time has been reset, yes, but things have got a lot worse. Fallout from the other universe is trickling back through time and appearing throughout history."
The Doctor did a quick scan with his sonic screwdriver and found a trace of temporal energy.
"I think I've got something." he said, awkwardly looking at the two TARDISes parked in front of him, "Which one's yours?"
"This one." the other Doctor said, tapping the one on the right.
"Team, we've got work to do."
Redgrove entered the other Doctor's TARDIS and the TARDIS dematerialised, taking the team somewhere new.
