Chapter 1: Annabeth
Annabeth leaned over the railing of the ship. She felt the ocean breeze on her face. Closing her eyes she thought back to only a few weeks before, when she had been happy with Percy. That was before his death. Before this new quest had begun. It had been three days since the demigods had left the Great Pyramid of Giza, and were on-board a cruise ship heading for Rhodes. Annabeth had devised a plan: head for the Greek Island and find the remains of the Colossus of Rhodes. The Colossus had been destroyed centuries prior, but according to the Pharaoh Khufu the staff and citadel remained. Behind her she could hear Leo and Jason bickering about the plan. Jason had agreed with Annabeth but Leo had wanted to remain in Egypt to find the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Annabeth believed that the giant that attacked the Pyramid would target a staff outside of Egypt. As a result the trio had snuck aboard a cruise liner heading for Rhodes. Looking ahead Annabeth could see the island coming into view.
Disembarking the ship Annabeth looked around the harbour.
"You know I thought it'd be more visible." Said Leo. Annabeth turned to face him as Jason punched him in the arm.
"You know it was destroyed over a millennia ago right?" she responded.
"Duh. Of course I knew!" replied Leo sheepishly. Annabeth turned back towards the harbour. Despite her confidence she had no idea where to begin the search.
"Let's split up." She said. "We can cover more ground that way. Jason take the West side of the harbour and Leo take the East. I'll check the town. There must be something. Meet back here in an hour." Jason flew across the harbour whilst Leo jogged off. Annabeth began to walk into the city of Rhodes.
