The lonely singing Wolf

In this deep and dark forest, where daylight cannot penetrate its canopy. The forest is surrounding a kingdom where many people are doing their daily things despite being surrounded by a terrifying place. Here lived many frightening monsters from all shapes and sizes but a lot of them only come out at night. Except one small creature that's coming out of the bushes.

It looked like a Wolf pup, but not of the normal kind. It may look like a Wolf, but it has two sets of eyes making it having four eyes and four ears on top of her head. And its hind legs appears to be hoof-like instead of paw-like.

The little Wolf looked nervously around her. She was all alone as her tummy rumbled. She looked every nook and cranny for something to eat until she spotted a Rabbit with two carrots in its mouth. The Wolf pup hid herself as she prepares herself to pounce, but then she froze as she watched the Rabbit meeting with a female on a den as he gave her the carrots. The female nuzzled noses together with him in affection as the Wolf pup sadly watched that display with her four ears down. She decided to let them go as she continues to search for something else to eat.

Night has come as the nocturnal Monsters are already awakening. The Wolf pup knew that all of them wouldn't take here presence kindly so she tries to find a place to hide. She then spotted a tall cliff in front of her which will do better than a den. She went to the other side and climbed up until she reached the top, where she can see the entire forest around her. The Wolf pup couldn't help but remember the Rabbit having a companion while she has none. She then noticed the full moon shining down on her as she looked up with wide eyes at it. She then closed her eyes and before she knew it she started singing. Despite being so you the song was very beautiful as it was heard in the entire forest. She would come up here again and sing to the full moon every time it appears in the sky.

Years later

As time passes, despite only a few new trees and plants growing, the forest hasn't changed much. The thing that changed is the song that's heard in the forest as it became more beautiful as the years has passed. But this night something different has appeared in the forest… a Human child.

He has blonde-white hair and is seen wearing formal clothes and a black cape. The crown on his head gives away that he is a prince… and he's lost.

The prince looked worriedly around as he has never been to this far in the forest. But then he found what he was looking for as the beautiful song resonates in the forest.

You see, the Prince always take a stroll on the safe corners of the forest where not even monsters has any reason to set foot. But as time passes he heard a beautiful song coming deep from the forest. He could no longer hold his curiosity as he entered the dark forest in order to find "the mysterious singer".

He continued walking through the dark forest until he entered a clearing where the light of the full moon shines over a tall cliff that's standing in front of the Prince. He then looked up as he heard the singing coming from the top of the cliff. He has found the place of the "mysterious singer".

Atop the cliff the Wolf pup has grown into a large beast despite still being young. Beside her size she has now large black claws that cut anything. And her singing has grown as well as she sang beautifully to the full moon every night it appear. But then a scent she never smelled before entered her nose. Still singing, she looked down where the scent came from and saw to her surprise a young Human sitting on a rock and watching her, even though she knew he couldn't see her duo to the high cliff covering. But she could see by his crown that he's the Prince of the kingdom that's surrounded by the forest. Humans rarely entered the forest except Knights and Hunters, but never a young boy.

Wolf: (What a stupid prey. I'll eat him when I'm finished singing).

The Wolf, like every monster in the forest, are man-eaters, meaning that they can eat Humans too. She has never eaten a Human before but she's not gonna let this opportunity go away to waste. After thinking about that, she finished singing, and was ready to go down and get her meal until she heard something she didn't expected.

Clap, clap, clap!

The Prince was applauding her singing. The Wolf was surprised as fell of her hoofs. The Prince was applauding her singing! She got up and turned her back to the Prince as a little blush creeped beneath her dark fur. She has never been praised for her singing before. She always sing alone since she always thought singing isn't a monster thing and was nervous that they would laugh at her. Yet here is a Human who liked her singing.

Prince: Um… hello?

The Wolf snapped out of her thoughts as the Prince called to the "mysterious singer".

Prince: If… um… It's okay with you… can you sing again, please?

The Wolf didn't expect to hear that.

Wolf: (He wants to hear me sing again? Really?)

The Wolf was hesitant to this, but then she took a deep breath and closed her eyes and sang her beautiful song again. Not at the moon but at the Prince instead. The Prince became happy to hear her song again as he sat back down and continued listening. The Wolf has never sang in front of anyone besides the moon. But all her nervousness vanished as she sang to the Prince, and she completely forgot about eating him.

Nights passes as every full moon the Prince comes to the forest to hear the singer. The Wolf started to grow fond of the Prince and is always looking forward to see him again. But, as she woke at the setting of the sun, a thought crossed her mind.

Wolf: The Prince doesn't know that I'm a monster. If he ever finds out, he may never come hear me sing again.

The Wolf was terrified at the thought. Despite him being Human, she enjoys his company very much. He made the loneliness that's been inside her heart for years vanish. She doesn't want to be alone again.

One night, the Wolf sang towards the moon again, not knowing that tonight, the Prince now wishes to meet the "mysterious singer". He was climbing up the cliff with an excited look in his eyes at the thought of meeting her.

Prince: (I want to meet her. Please, I hope that we can be friends).

With determination and his heart full, the Prince continued scaling the cliff to see the singer.

The Wolf finished the last note of her song as she took a breath and relaxed. But then she noticed that there were no applause coming down the cliff this time.

Wolf: (Huh? Didn't the Prince come tonight)?

She stood back up and looked down the cliff and saw to her surprise the Prince climbing up here.

Wolf: (What!? Why is he coming here)!?

The Prince finally reached the top, but his eyes were still closed do to the effort of climbing up the tall cliff.

Wolf: (HE'LL HATE ME IF HE SEES ME! NO ONE SHOULD KNOW WHAT I LOOK LIKE!)

Full of panic, the Wolf extended her large paw to cover the Prince's eyes before he sees her.

…

A flower that was beneath them broke. The Prince was stumbling back as the Wolf was frozen. The claws of her extended paw was covered in a red substance that was falling beneath the broken flower. The Prince continued stumbling backwards until he slipped of the cliff. This snapped the Wolf out of her shock as she ran at the Prince.

Wolf: (If a Human fall from this high…)

She hurriedly grabbed the Prince left arm with her other paw in time. At the same time, the Prince felt the beastly arm grabbing his arm. This increased his terror tenfold.

Prince: AAAAAAAHH!

The Prince struggled with desperation as he tried to free himself from the monster's hold. The Wolf was completely alarmed by his yells that she accidentally let go of his arm. The Wolf saw the Prince plummeted down the cliff. But fortunately he landed on a bush that broke his fall. The Wolf was relieved to see that he didn't get hurt any further, but when she's about to go down to check on him.

?: My Prince!

The Wolf stopped as she saw a red Knight of the kingdom entered the clearing and kneeled in front of the Prince as he checked on him.

Knight: The Prince must have been hurt by a monster!

The Wolf flinched when she heard that. She then saw the Knight looking up the cliff, though he couldn't see her he knew she was up here. The Knight took out his bow and quickly fired a volley of arrows above the cliff. The Wolf dodged a few of them and knew she has to run away. She didn't wanted too as she was concerned for the Prince's safety but the Knight wouldn't let her. She ran down at the other side of the cliff, but she couldn't stopped worrying about the Prince and what she has accidentally done to him.

Wolf: What have I done?

Back to the Prince, the boy was loosing conscious. The terrible memory of the beast grabbing his arm and to what she has done to him back up there. His blond hair was covering his eyes that was also covered by a red substance. His blood…

The Wolf accidentally scratched the Prince's eyes.
