Dalliance: a brief encounter or romantic relationship
Just a drabble I wrote before bed last night. Trying to flex my creativity a bit each day to keep from going stir crazy.
Hope you're safe and well!
Whatever she and Tim had was real, even if he was too pig-headed to admit it.
There'd been a moment, hell many moments, when she was kidnapped that the only worry on Lucy's mind was whether or not she'd be able to see Tim again. Not whether she'd see John and Jackson, not whether she'd see her parents. But whether she'd get a chance to hear Tim's curmudgeonly grumbles while they loaded their shop each morning. Whether they'd get to share quiet moments over their morning coffee break (a time Lucy loves because Tim let his guard down ever so slightly when he is jonesing for some caffeine). Or when she was rescued and she wondered whether he'd hold her in his arms again.
She was ever thankful for the LAPD-mandated therapists. They'd helped her get through so much of her trauma. But there was a saying at the department, "Telegraph, telephone, tell a city worker." There was no way she could share her concerns about Tim to the department shrink. Talk of the pair would be across the LAPD within hours and she didn't want that.
Whatever she and Tim had, have, would have. She wants time to figure it out. Because she knows it's something more than a dalliance.
