As you saw in the newest chapter of Galarian Eds, I'm working on this now, I really hope I can finish it this time.
It was a calm summer morning in Peach creek as in a room with way too many labels in it, an alarm clock labeled with its name started to blare its alarm before a hand turned it off.
The boy inside the bed yawned and stretched before putting on a hat near his bed. After getting up, doing his morning oral hygiene and getting dressed, he looked at a nearby calendar. "What's on the agenda today…" he muttered looking at the month..
Most of the days on the calendar had the words "Eddy has a scam." However, one of the days was circled in red ink which was labeled. "My birthday."
Double D beamed, he was excited for his birthday because it was the one day his parents were with him all day, most of the time they were working at their jobs, but this was the major exception.
Bolting out of the room Edd gleefully ran down the stairs ready for his birthday breakfast with his family, smelling syrup and butter from the kitchen.
"Mother are you making pancakes this morning?" He said walking into his kitchen expecting to see his mother making his favorite breakfast and his father reading the morning only to see just to see a plate of pancakes and a sticky note next to it.
Curious about the lack of his parents, he chewed the pancakes as he started to read the note and slowly his smile went into a frown.
"Dear Eddward,
We're extremely sorry about leaving you alone on your birthday, something unexpected came up at our jobs and we had to leave you home alone, we made your favorite birthday pancakes and gave you $150 as a gift, don't worry about your chores today, just have fun with your little friends!
Love,
Mom and Dad."
Double D dejectedly sighed. "Of course they had work…" folding the paper up he threw it away and put the three $50 bills in his pocket, before he could do anything else, he heard a knock at the door.
Edd got up and went to the door which was being knocked on more and more with increasing impatience from whoever was on the other side, when he opened the door he smiled at his guests, it was his two friends, the only people that stuck by him no matter what, Eddy and Ed.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUBLE D!" Ed cheered, giving Double D a bone crushing hug, "Ed… air…" Double D gasped out of breath.
Ed released his friend and after Double D caught his breath, Ed gave him a half eaten cake on a plate looking guilty.
"My mom made a cake for you, me and Eddy had some already, sorry about that Double D…" He sadly said, however it didn't seem to bother Double D .
"Oh Ed it's alright, I had some breakfast already but I should thank your mother next time I see her." Double D smiled humbly while taking the cake as Eddy stepped up to sockhead.
"Happy birthday Sockhead, and my personal gift to you is a day free from scams!" Eddy smirked.
"Oh what a great gift, you really had to break the bank for that." Edd said sarcastically rolling his eyes.
Eddy shrugged indifferently. "Hey it's better than nothing, anyways where's your folks, don't you usually leave around this time to go to some restaurant?" Eddy curiously asked, looking inside the empty house.
"Work unfortunately took priority…" Double D noted dejectedly as Eddy huffed while Ed looked sad, they both knew Double D's parents weren't around much and let him enjoy the short time they had together.
Even if Eddy wouldn't admit it, he immensely cared about his friends. "Hey sockhead I know it's kinda not the fine dining, but I got a couple quarters left from the scam yesterday, why don't we go out for jawbreakers, Ugh… my treat." He said annoyed with generosity.
Ed immediately lit up, "Jawbreakers Eddy! Oh boy!" He said doing a happy dance.
"Well since I have nothing better to do today, enjoying a confectionery treat with pals would be enjoyable!" Double D said shutting his door and locking it.
"Birthday jawbreakers Double D! Eddy's so cool!" Ed gleefully noted as Eddy soaked up the attention.
"I'm just impressed that he's actually being generous for once, I guess that happened before pigs can fly." Edd chuckled as Eddy's brow frowned.
"Don't milk it sockhead." He said annoyed, however he still had a smile on his face.
Half an hour later the three Ed's were at the front of the candy store finishing up their jawbreakers. In the case of Ed he somehow swallowed his, bloating his belly a bit.
"You're not supposed to eat it Ed!" Eddy chuckled while he licked the excess candy off his fingers.
"I can't help it Eddy, it's so yummy for my tummy!" Ed smiled, patting his stomach content with his food, while Double D had a small grin from that feeling much better than he was this morning.
However the trio heard someone yell out nearby. "H-help me!" They sounded nervous about something growling nearby attacking them.
Curious, Double D got up and started to walk in the direction of the yelling much to Eddy's confusion. "Where are you going sockhead?" He yelled making Double D turn around.
"Eddy someone is in trouble, we might as well try helping them." He argued as Ed got up with a noble look on his face. "I shall join you on this rescue Double D!" Ed trotted over to Double D as Eddy started to walk off.
However he didn't get too far when Ed started to drag him down the road. "Hey Ed let go!" Eddy yelled annoyed as Ed shook his head.
"No can do Eddy! We have a man to save!" Ed proclaimed as the short Ed huffed and crossed his arms as the trio went down the road to investigate.
Thanks to the sound of the yelling, the trio easily found the source, a slightly overweight man was cornered to a nearby fence by a small jack russell terrier which the Eds recognized from their old Newspaper scam.
Upon seeing the Eds the man seemed to relax a little bit but was startled by the dogs growling. "Halloo! You over there! Please! Help me out! In my Bag! There are some Poké Balls!" He pointed towards a small bag nearby as the dog tried to nip at him.
Before the Eds could ask what a pokeball is, Ed quickly scooped up the bag and opened it up revealing the contents inside to the Eds.
There were three spherical objects, they were red and white with a black line cutting it in half, with a small button in the middle.
What was most interesting was that on each of them it had a small sticker above the button, The one on the left had a green leaf, the one in the middle had a water drop, and the final one had a small orange flame.
Almost instantly Ed took the one with the flame, Double D grabbed the Rain drop and Eddy reluctantly picked up the leaf pokeball. "Alright weirdo, we got those ball things, now what?" Eddy rudley asked, ignoring the look Double D gave him.
"Great, just press the button in the middle and toss the balls, and hurry!" The man panicked as he dodged another bite from the small dog.
The Eds did as he said with each of them pressing the buttons and then tossing their respective balls which opened in midair and with a beam of light from each of the balls hit the ground.
When it cleared three creatures stood in front of the Eds, who were shocked by their appearance, since they were almost alien to the group.
The one in front of Eddy was small, green, bipedal reptilian Pokémon that sort of resembled a gecko with a stomach and throat that were red.
"(Whew, feels great to get out of that ball after so long.)" It said crossing its arms coolly.
In front of Edd was a small blue quadruped creature that resembled an Axolotl with orange feelers on the sides of its head.
"(I mean it's good to stretch our legs after being in our pokeballs for an entire plane ride.)" It calmly mused towards the gecko.
Finally the creature released from Eds ball was a small chick with stubby, downy, yellow wings and orange fluffy feathers. "(Still, looks like the professor is in trouble, we should help him out!)" It took notice of the man still dodging the small dog.
Meanwhile the Eds were stunned by what came out of the balls as Eddy turned to Edd for an explanation. "What are these things Sockhead, they're like from Eds comic books!?" He gaped as Double D nervously shook his head.
"I don't know! These are lifeforms i've never seen before!" Double D astoundingly told Eddy as Ed had a more interesting reaction towards the creature he released.
"Chick-chick-chicken!" Ed cheered with glee, hugging the small orange chicken much to it's shock. "(Hey let go big guy! We've gotta save the professor!)" It squirmed in Eds locking grip.
The Man seemed somewhat reveleved at the release of these creatures. "Alright, the kid in the ski cap, tell Mudkip to use water gun!" He ordered as the Dog turned around to confront the boys.
Looking at the small Amphibian, Double D noted that it seemed determined to fight as it looked back at him. "Well alright, Mudkip use water gun!" He directed and he pointed towards the dog.
Opening his mouth Mudkip spewed out a stream of water like a hose hitting the poor dog, removing any sort of threat it had as it now was scared of the new creatures as it ran off whimpering.
"Huh we should've done that when we ran that paper route." Eddy simply said shrugging as Double D went over to the man who was catching his breath.
"Sir are you alright? That dog is a menace to the neighborhood." He asked as the Man nodded. "Ah it's fine, i've taken my fair share of bruises doing field research."
Eddy spoke up looking at the gecko who seemed to take an interest in him. "So what's up with these animals? They're kinda cool from what we've seen so far."
The professor was bewildered at Eddy's answer. "Wait you boys don't know about pokemon?" Double D shook his head as a response.
"Not until today no, can you elaborate for us?" He asked taking out a small note pad for later reference. As Ed beamed with excitement still holding the chick in his arms. "Yea I want to know more about my chicken!"
The man chuckled. "Well since you three are so eager to learn, i'll tell you the basics." The Eds sat down ready to hear his words.
A few minutes later the Eds were soon caught up with events. "So you're a professor researching these pokemon things, and you're in peach creek to study if it had pokemon" Eddy recapped as the Gecko pokemon napped in his lap.
"Correct, those three pokemon there are the pokemon I give out to beginner trainers, Treeko the Wood Gecko Pokémon, Torchic the Chick Pokémon and Mudkip the Mud Fish Pokémon '' Professor Birch pointed out.
"So what does a pokemon trainer do exactly?" Double D questioned as he was taking notes in the notebook as Mudkip was staring at them.
"They go around the region with their pokemon, getting stronger by fighting other trainers and competing in the gym challenge, fighting the 8 gym leaders in the region and then eventually fighting the elite four and champion." The Eds had different thoughts on this revelation.
Ed was thinking about having his own monster team to use for battling and just the whole concept of having his own monster team in general excited him, it was like one of his comic books coming to life.
Edd was more intrigued about the biological aspects of pokemon and how the strategy of battle worked, it was new research and it was something he always enjoyed.
Eddy's brain was already thinking of ideas, surprisingly for once it wasn't about scamming, he wanted to become the best trainer in peach creek, and finally upstart Kevin and those other losers that they lived with and show them that he could be a winner.
In other words they had their plans for the summer, they were going to Kanto to become Pokemon trainers… if they could go there of course.
"Man that sounds awesome, too bad we can't go…" Eddy disappointingly plopped on the grass accidentally waking up Treecko as Ed sadly pouted, petting Torchic.
"I want more monsters…" he moped, whining like a dog.
The professor saw the trios solemn expressions and smiled. "Well it's a good thing you helped me here boys, cause I need some help with a project, if you help, I can take you Boys to Hoenn no charge."
Eddy immediately peaked up "Wait really? Where do we sign Birch?" The professor chuckled at Eddy's excitement as Edd pulled him back.
"Professor why do you need us for your project, surely you have a research team to help you out with this task?" Double D peculiarly noted.
"Well as you saw with the dog, I'm not exactly prepared for field research, besides the three starter Pokemon seemed to have taken a liking to you boys, so it'll make things easier." Birch explained as the Eds got some smiles on their face.
"I get to keep my chicken? Yay!" Ed cheered, squeezing Torchic who was surprised by the action. "(Let go big guy!)" She squirmed gasping for air.
"Alright Birch, I'm in, this is my one shot and I ain't losing it!" Eddy smiled a bit cockily hopping up as Treecko took notice, posing with him.
"Ed is in too, I want a monster pal!" Ed said practically jumping for joy releasing torchic who despite being caught in a death hug seemed pretty happy with her choice.
"If Ed and Eddy are in I suppose I should travel as well, research in another country is exciting," Double D joined in as Mudkip smiled with his trainer.
"Excellent! I shall get your tickets ready, but you'll have to leave early in the morning, be at the airport around 8 o' clock and please tell your parents beforehand, I can't send 3 kids into another region without permission." Birch told the boys who instantly got the directions in their mind.
After Birch explained how to return their Pokemon he left the three boys to go home going to check back into his hotel for the night, The Ed's had made their decision, they were leaving the cul de sac for the summer, and hopefully returned as champions.
Now the Eds were walking home with their heads held high excited for the start of their journey tomorrow. "Talk about a great birthday Double D, we had jawbreakers, got some monsters, and now were going on a free vacation!" Eddy said with his hands behind his head.
"While that may be so, we still have to pack for our trip, it's gonna be a long trek so I recommend extra clothes, toothbrushes, sleeping bags and some food." Double D listed off what they needed. "And don't forget we need our parents permission beforehand so we can go."
Eddy nodded before turning towards Ed with a glare. "Ed don't tell your sister about this, I don't want this trip ruined with your sister being forced to come along."
Ed gave a salute with Torchics pokeball in his hand. "Roger Dodger Eddy! Baby sister should stay safe at home!"
Soon the Eds said their respective goodbyes as they split off and headed off into their homes praying that their parents would allow them to use the opportunity they were handed.
For Ed, while the idea of real monsters shocked his parents, they soon approved of the trip as it would be something constructive he would be doing during the summer rather than staying inside reading comics and watching TV.
Double D's parents were nervous about their son being in a different continent. Their approval came from Double D bringing up the idea of it being research, thankfully his parents also counted it as a late birthday gift due to them missing his birthday beforehand.
Eddy had the biggest sigh of relief after talking to his parents, it turns out they were the easiest to convince as they planned to send him to a summer camp to make sure he wouldn't pull any scams this summer, but with something like camp but for free instantly changed their minds.
After packing their things and setting their alarms for the night the Eds went to sleep dreaming of the Pokemon journey they would soon have.

Yea things are gonna be different this time, ngl I started this because I was replaying Alpha Sapphire during all this virus stuff. Pokemon suggestions are really recommended, keep in mind i'm using the National Dex in ORAS so unobtainable pokemon can't be added, however there might be a compromise. Wonder trading, I plan to have the Eds to get 1 out of region pokemon for their team or a pokemon that's extremely rare (Non starter gift pokemon for example). So a suggestion for that is welcome. Anyways please review and I'll see you next chapter.
