When Yagi had promised Izuku's mother that he would watch over his successor, he kept the woman's feelings in mind. She was suffering and clearly distraught by her son's deteriorating arms. He made it a point to visit her every other day, updating her on how his student was doing and just to ease her worries even for a little bit.

They drank tea and watched a paticular show that they both liked. It was a reality TV show in which the participants had to go a whole month without using their quirks. It was more interesting than it sounded and it was more like trash TV but they didn't care. They would then have lunch together before Yagi had to leave to teach a class.

He remembered the first time he saw Inko's quirk. They had just finished lunch and she started to make motions with her hand as if she were trying to grab something out of thin air. It took the blonde a moment to realize that the empty plates and glasses were floating towards her. He knew that she had a quirk but it hadn't crossed his mind to ask what it was. She sheepishly blushed, claiming her quirk was nowhere near impressive.

"No, sometimes quirks can be a hindrance. I can't even begin to tell you how many plates I've broken just by holding them," Yagi smiled reassuringly. "Yours is very convenient,"

"Well, it was very helpful when Izuku was little and he left his All Might figurines all over the place," Inko chuckled.

It was Yagi's turn to blush but he often wondered if Inko pitied him in his current state. Having completely exhausted the leftover power of One For All after passing it on, he was, for all intents and purposes, quirkless again. At least no one expected him to do any hero work. In the public's opinion, All Might had ended his career with a bang, doing all he could do to protect everyone from a very strong villain. It was an act of selflessness and his retirement was well recieved even if fans were a little disappointed.

"Izuku asked me over and over again to show him the video of you saving those people from that bus accident about ten years ago," she continued. "Even now, he still admires you greatly,"

"I've become a shell of my former self," Yagi looked down at his hands.

"One thing I've learned about living with a quirk but not having it be the main focus of your life, is that you get to see people's other qualities like kindness and selflessness. I know you have those good qualities in you,"

"Midoriya-,"

"Call me Inko,"

"Inko..."

"Yes but only if I get to call you Toshi-kun,"

"Deal," the man couldn't help but smile a little. "Inko, I may be weak but I don't plan on dying anytime soon. I still have a life to continue but right now, I don't know what else I could do aside from teaching. Could you help me find the good qualities that you see in me?"

"Of course,"

Inko smiled warmly and the blonde could feel his heart about to burst. He snapped out of it when his wristwatch started beeping.

"I have to go teach a class now," he said, almost sadly.

"Well, you go ahead and teach those kids but why don't you stop by tomorrow as well?" Inko replied.

"Sounds like a plan,"

...

When Yagi went to the Midoriya household the next day, he found that Izuku was there. The boy had come down with a case of home sickness and without notice, he decided to visit his mother for the weekend.

"Young Midoriya!"

"All Might!"

Izuku jumped; his mentor was the last person he had expected to be at the door. Whenever they met outside of school, Yagi had always texted him to meet him at another location. However, he was there, standing in the hallway of the building where the Midoriya household was.

"Toshi-kun! Come on in,"

"Inko, how are you?"

The green haired boy froze, not knowing what was going on. He was bewildered at the name his mother had called the blonde man. Inko occasionally used the '-kun' suffix when referring to her son but he never thought that in a million years, she would use that suffix on All Might. How long had they been seeing each other? They seemed to have spent time together long enough for them to casually call eachother by name.

"You came right on time! I just finished cooking lunch!"

"I love your cooking. We should try cooking something together,"

Izuku stared as his idol and his mother talked. Yagi stepped into the apartment, clearly familiar with it. The blonde man was soon shooed away into the living room by Inko, denying his help with setting the table. He spotted his student curled up on the couch with a distraught look on his face.

"Your mother is a very nice woman," was all Yagi could say.

The boy stared at him as if searching for something but couldn't quite grasp it yet. Yagi grit his teeth; he didn't expect this at all. For some reason, telling the younger Midoriya about his frequent visits hadn't crossed his mind.

"I pop in every now and then just to make sure she's ok," he tried again to lift the heavy atmosphere.

His successor stayed silent, obviously shocked; Izuku was at a loss for words. Having his hero and mentor in his home was a big dea. The familiarity between Yagi and his mother was what baffled the boy.

"A-All Might," he finally said. "You're not hitting on my mom, are you?"

Before the retired hero could answer, not that he knew how to, Inko called them for lunch. Even though she had cooked the boy's favorite meal, he couldn't help but pick at it.

"What's wrong, Izuku?" the worried mother peered at her son. "Pork Donburi is your favorite. Are you feeling sick?"

"N-No!" he replied quickly. "I'm just a little tired from this past week at school,"

"You know, Toshi-kun has been telling me how much of a great student you are,"

She reached out and pinched her son's cheeks, proud. Izuku blushed and began to eat as to not worry his mother. He was quiet as he ate, watching and listening as his mentor and his mother talk casually.

"So, uh, All Might, how long have you been coming over to see my mom?" the burning question that was tugging at him suddenly fell out of his mouth.

"A few months," Yagi looked away. "She's just as stressed as you are. Being a mother isn't easy and she worries about you,"

The green haired boy didn't reply but he slowly started slumping down in his seat without even realising it. Was All Might trying to date his mom? No, his parents were married; she had a husband. Still she must be really lonely with her husband away overseas and having her son living away from her would surely make her feel even lonelier.

Since it was the weekend, Yagi had no classes to teach so he stayed back longer than usual. They decided to put on a movie but Izuku fell asleep halfway through. When he woke up, he could hear his mother in the kitchen talking to his teacher.

"Just heat it up for about two minutes," she said.

"Thank you, Inko," Yagi's voice replied.

"Let me know when you get home!"

"Will do! Have a good night,"

Izuku kept still and closed his eyes, still laying down on the couch and feigning sleep. When he heard the front door shut close, the boy jumped up and went into the kitchen.

"Oh, Izuku, dinner's ready," Inko smiled. "Sit down,"

"Uh, mom, not to pry but how close are you to All Might?" the boy asked.

"Nothing to worry about; he's a nice person through and through,"

"I bet dad would've loved to meet All Might,"

"Well," the woman sighed as she seated herself after serving dinner for the both of them. "There is something I need to tell you,"

"What is it?"

"Your father and I are getting a divorce,"

"What?!"

Izuku stood up, his mouth gaping open, completely forgetting about All Might. Inko looked away but the look of sorrow was all over her face. It had been hard for her to come home lately. She was greeted by silence and she missed her son sorely.

"Think about it, his business trips have been more frequent and longer," Inko placed her hands in her lap. "A-and, he hasn't been faithful to me,"

"Dad is..."

"Yes, he's been cheating on me,"

Tears silently ran down her cheeks as she whispered the last statement and Izuku embraced her. She was a hard working woman and all she got was loneliness and deceit. He didn't really know what to say but if what his father did make his mother miserable, he wasn't going to try to convince her to forfeit the divorce. Not knowing what else to do, the boy phoned for a woman who was close to his mother.

"Where is she?"

"In the living room," Izuku closed the door behind his guest. "I managed to get her to eat dinner but I can tell she's still depressed. I don't know what to do,"

"I'll take it from here," Mitsuki ruffled the boy's hair and headed into the room her friend was in.

Almost immediately, he heard sobs from the living room and it took all he had to steel himself and stay still. Katsuki's mother was one of the sweetest and kindest woman he knew despite her temper. Although he and Katsuki had had a bad falling out, the two women still continued being friends. Izuku balled up his fists, listening to his mother cry and Mitsuki consoling her with soothing words. For what seemed like forever, he stood there trying to leave it to Mitsuki until he couldn't take it anymore. Tears fell from his eyes as he ran into the living room and snuggled up to his mother.

"See? You still have Izu-kun," the blonde woman smiled. "And you've raised him so well too,"

"I'm not mad at you mom; I just can't stand seeing you so unhappy," Izuku cried, his lips trembling. "It's not your fault and dad might not be there for you but I will!"

Inko hugged her son and rocked him gently. She hadn't done that since he was in elementary school but Izuku let her continue; he didn't mind at all. In fact, he kind of missed it.

"Hello?" Mitsuki had pulled out her phone to call her husband. "I'm going to be spending the night with Inko... There should be leftovers of the noodles you like in the fridge... Uh huh... Alright, well, call me if you need me... I love you too... Good night,"

"Oh, you don't have to stay the night just because of me," Inko looked up.

"Don't be silly, I don't mind. Come on, Izu-kun and I will stay here with you. Isn't that right, Izu-kun?"

"Of course," Izuku nodded vigorously. "We'll make popcorn and we can watch your favorite movie and if you want, I can go to the corner store to get more snacks and I'll bring out the fluffiest pillows and blankets we have and..."

Inko smiled as her son rambled on about what they could do that night and her friend eagerly agreeing with all of the suggestions. Next thing she knew, all three of them were eating snacks, cuddling under a large fluffy blanket and watching her favorite movie. It hurt that her husband had been unfaithful but she still had her friends and most of all, her son. When her eyelids drooped, she wore a faint smile on her face.

Upon waking up, she saw a note on the coffee table written by Mitsuki telling her that she needed to return home because of something Katsuki did. On her arm, Izuku was still asleep and holding her hand. It wasn't until she heard a knock on the door that she noticed the time. They had slept in and she had forgotten that she had invited Yagi over again.

"I'll get it," Izuku rubbed his eyes and yawning as he went to open the door.

"Good afternoon, young Midoriya!"

It took a second for the boy to remember that Yagi was acquainted with his mother. He hadn't thought about All Might after his mother had broken the news of divorce to him. His face red, he mumbled a greeting and let his guest in. This did not go unnoticed and the blonde tried to cheer him up.

"Don't be so sad, my boy!" he grinned. "It's a beautiful day today,"

"I'm just really tired," Izuku lied.

The news of his parents' divorce was still weighing heavily on his chest. He wondered if All Might knew about it and if he was trying to get her attention to be with him instead. No, a man like Toshinori Yagi would never do that. They both walked into the kitchen where Inko had her head in the fridge, pulling out ingredients to make brunch.

"Toshi-kun!" the woman greeted her guest and in the process of standing up, she hit her head.

"Mom!"

"Inko!"

"I'm alright, it wasn't that hard of a bump," Inko smiled sheepishly. "Now, you boys get out of the kitchen and let me cook,"

The two opened their mouths to offer help but was deterred by the woman shaking her head firmly. They retreated to the living room and when they sat down, Izuku finally said something.

"All Might, are you trying to date my mom?" he asked.

"Hm? No, your mother is a married woman; I'd never cross that line," the blonde shook his head.

So he didn't know about the divorce yet. However, the green haired boy wasn't satisfied with that answer.

"But do you like her?" he pressed on.

"Well, she's married to your father and-,"

"That wasn't my question. Do you like my mom?"

"Ah, yes,"

The room fell silent as Izuku looked at his mentor. It was easy to forget that pro heroes were human too, especially All Might, the former number one hero. Izuku himself faced the daily problems that most teenagers went through despite the fact that he was aspiring to be the best hero ever. He had a huge amount of strength but his knees still became shaky when talking to a cute girl. He also realised that he had never thought much about Yagi's personal life.

To break the tension, Izuku turned on the TV until his mom called out that the food was ready. In a pleasant surprise, Inko had practically cooked a buffet for the three of them. She seemed much happier and content but her son knew better. His mother was only smiling for the benefit of those around her but deep in her heart, she was heartbroken and lonely.

"You didn't have to go all out," Yagi took a bite of toast. "But as always, your cooking is amazing,"

"Yeah, I kind of miss you packing lunch for me everyday," Izuku said before shoving more food into his mouth.

"Oh, it's nothing," Inko blushed. "I just want to see my boys be happy. Here, have some more sausages, protein is very important,"

The woman pushed more food onto their plates and they practically scarfed it down despite Inko telling them to slow down and that there was more if they wanted.

"So, I was thinking that we all can go to a grand re-opening that I was invited to," the blonde suggested. "It's a small ramen shop and I know the owner because I saved him from an armed robber a couple of years back. We can have dinner there,""

"That's sounds so nice! Isn't that a great idea, Izuku?" the woman's eyes lit up.

Izuku nodded, his mouth still full of food. Many restuarants and stores were giving free or highly discounted goods and services for the former hero. He had crossed paths with many of them due to saving them from criminals in the past. Wait, was the outing supposed to be a date? No, Yagi had said himself that all three of them could go. Maybe the boy was just being dragged along so that the blonde could provide a larger sense of security for his mother.

Before the evening drew near, the trio watched a drama that Inko liked. Izuku sat next to his mother on the couch and Yagi sat in the recliner. He wondered if his mother was interested in the former hero. Izuku shuddered; it was weird to think about his own mother in such a light. Later, when they were getting ready to leave for the grand opening, Inko was wearing a dress that the boy had never seen before.

"That dress looks nice on you," Yagi smiled.

"Well, you have good taste, considering that you were the one to buy it for me," the woman smiled back as she slipped on her shoes, not noticing her son's eyes widening upon hearing those words.

At the restuarant, the owner specifically placed them in the elegant booths in the back. He shooed them to the exclusive table when Yagi said that it wasn't neccessary.

"Hmm, what's good here, Toshi-kun?"

"Uh, there's a house special called the 'zebra' and it's really good," Yagi pointed at the menu.

All three decided to order the house special and each were served their bowls of ramen. Stripes of seaweed had been lain across carefully on top of the noodles to imitate zebra stripes. A few pieces of pork, with the fat trimmed, were fanned out in a delicate manner to complement the beef stock.

"It's so pretty!" Inko looked into her bowl. "It's almost a shame to eat it,"

"Let's take a picture then!" Izuku exclaimed, taking out his phone and calling for a nearby waitress. "Hey, miss? Could you take this picture for us?"

The waitress obliged and snapped a picture of the three of them, huddled together to fit into the picture. She took care to include the bowls of ramen with them. Their house special was so popular that many customers asked her to take pictures for them.

"Now, let's eat!" Yagi picked up his chopsticks.

"Yes, let's!" Inko smiled.

The ramen was even better than it looked and even though Yagi had eaten it before, he seemed very happy, claiming that it was even better than the last time. The boy was too engrossed in his delicious meal that he didn't notice his mother and his mentor's conversation. He didn't pay much attention until Inko brought out her wallet to pay.

"Oh no, ma'am! This one's on the house!" the owner ran over, seeing the woman reach into her purse. "He may be retired but he's still All Might and I can't let a man who saved my life to pay in my restuarant,"

"Are you sure?" the former hero asked, uncertain. "It's not good to give away free food,"

"Gah! Everyone else has to pay so it's not a problem but for you and your friends, I am willing to feed for free!"

The trio reluctantly accepted the generousity and when the group left, the owner made sure to pack them all fresh meat buns. As they wandered the streets, savoring their treats, they stumbled upon an autumn festival. It had been a while since Izuku had gone to one and he sorely missed it. Like a child, he pulled on his mom's sleeve, begging to go. She answered with a smile and began to pull on Yagi's sleeve. Both of the Midoriyas looked up at the blonde with puppy eyes and he relented; big puppy eyes seemed to run in their family.

Yagi mostly watched as the mother and son darted from stall to stall. He didn't seem to notice that people around him were staring and was caught by surprise when a mob of his fans circled around him. All Might was retired but to most people, he had done his job well for years and they still thought of him as a hero. He signed autograph after autograph and took pictures with his fans; there was no way he was going to ignore his fans. When the crowd around him finally dispersed, the former hero looked around and found Inko and Izuku smiling and waiting patiently.

"You're really cool," the woman smiled. "No wonder Izuku worships you,"

"Mom!" the boy exclaimed, his face turning red.

"Both of you are so cool,"

"I'm out of action though," Yagi pointed out.

"But look at your fans! They haven't given up on looking up to you!"

The blonde still had a large fanbase after his retirement. His appearance was different from the All Might they used to know but nonetheless, fans appreciated him. The public had to admit that Endeavor being the number one hero now was alright and that he dutifully protected their society but he was no match for All Might's charm.

"You know, Izuku used to beg me all the time to buy him All Might merchandise," Inko giggled.

"Mom!" the boy blushed. "Not in front of All Might..."

He covered his red face, turning away from his idol, flustered. Suddenly, Inko's eyes glazed over and she became dizzy. She began to fall but was caught by her son. She hadn't passed out but everything was blurry and hard for her to grasp. Izuku sat with his mom, worried as Yagi called for an ambulance. Both males refused to leave Inko's side and the paramedics had no choice but to concede and let them onto the ambulance.

"It's a very mild concussion so there's not too much of a risk," a blurry image of someone with a long white coat was speaking. "She seems incoherent but we've injected some medicine in her IV bag so that should help within a few hours,"

"But she's ok, right?"

"Like I said, it's very mild. Do you know if she bumped her head recently?"

"Um, she bumped her head on the fridge this morning but she seemed fine,"

"Sometimes, concussions aren't apparent right away if it's not very serious,"

"Izuku... Toshi-kun..."

"Mom, I'm here!"

Inko felt a warm hand hold hers and she smiled, comforted by her son. On the other side of the bed, she could make out the tangled blonde hair that unmistakably belonged to Yagi. She closed her eyes, tired but was promptly shaken awake.

"Sorry, but the doctor says you can't fall asleep until your concussion is gone," Izuku pouted.

"I'll go get some coffee," Yagi offered. "You stay with your mother, young Midoriya,"

Inko felt a little bit better, enough to sit up but she didn't let go of her son's hand. She had been dipping in and out of reality for how long? She couldn't tell and looking at the clock didn't help either.

"Just take it easy mom," Izuku leaned his head onto her lap and let her play with his hair.

The mother and son stayed that way until Yagi came back with a cup of coffee. He had made sure that it was made just the way she liked it. For himself and the young boy, he had bought hot chocolate at the trio sat in silence, enjoying their drinks.

"I'm sorry," Inko sighed.

"Huh?" Izuku looked up confused.

"Today was supposed to be a fun day but then I ruined it,"

"No, you didn't ruin anything," Yagi said, comforting the woman.

"Yeah, I mean, we're still here," Izuku added.

After a couple of hours, Inko was released but was warned to not sleep for another twelve hours, just in case. Izuku bustled about, piling pillows and blankets for his mother to rest on. He tried to stay up with her but failed, falling asleep halfway through a movie he had put on. Yagi also stuck around but like his student, he fell asleep.

Both were gently shaken awake early in the morning and they jumped up; it was Monday and they had to return to the school. Izuku quickly brushed his teeth as he packed his bag, making sure he had everything.

"Here!" Inko held out two bags. "I spent all night cooking some food for you both. Izuku, this should be enough for a few days. They have a fridge at the dorms, right?"

"This smells so good!" the boy started tearing up, grinning. "I miss your cooking so much mom! Thank you!"

"Really, you didn't have to go through all that trouble," Yagi told her.

"Nonsense! I wasn't allowed to go to sleep so I had to do something and why not cook for my boys? Now, both of you, go before you're late!"

After their good byes, Izuku rushed ahead; Yagi didn't have to be there as early but the boy didn't want to be late for his first class of the day. Yagi looked into the bag and found three containers stuffed with food. He blushed and was glad that his protege wasn't around to see his red face.

...

The next weekend, Izuku decided to go home to see how his mother was doing. He had called her every night but he was still worried and he knew that she missed having him around the house. When he arrived home on Friday afternoon after his last class of the day, he came face to face with his father.

"Dad!"

"Hi Izuku," Hisashi responded, appearing very uncomfortable. "Ah, I just came over to pick up a few things and take care of some paperwork,"

"Oh,"

"I'm guessing your mother told you,"

His father reached for the doorknob but before the man stepped a foot out of the house, he was stopped.

"I know you're still my dad but you're pretty stupid to do something like that to mom," the boy clenched his fists. "She works hard and she's been nothing but a good wife and mother,"

Instead of scolding his son, Hisashi sighed.

"I'm very sorry that it came to this,"

For the first time in a long time, Izuku became very angry with his father. He huffed as the door closed behind him and called for his mom. The boy found his mother at the kitchen table, her eyes red and puffy. When he entered the room, Inko snapped her head up and smiled widely at her son, trying to hide her sorrow.

"So, dad's really gone," the boy said sadly.

"Yes," Inko nodded, giving up her facade of happiness.

"But you still have me! And Kacchan's mom and All Might too!"

"I know and when I think about that, it makes me happy,"

"I love you mom,"

"I love you too. Now, what would you like to eat?"

As they ate a delicious meal, Izuku told his mother more about his friends and classmates.

"I'm glad you've made so many friends," Inko smiled.

"I let them try some of the food you packed me and they all loved it!" the boy exclaimed. "Your food is the best!"

The woman blushed but smiled all the same. Later, when the doorbell rang, Izuku rushed ahead of Inko to answer it. If it was his father, he planned to refuse to let him see his mother. However, it was Yagi at the door and the boy was relieved. Over the past week, he had somewhat come to terms with his mentor's romantic feelings towards his mother. He knew that the blonde man genuinely liked his mother but he also knew that the former hero was not the type of person to aggressively approach women.

"Oh, Toshi-kun!" Inko stood up. "Just give me a moment to get dressed,"

"Of course," Yagi nodded.

"Dressed for what?"

"Toshi-kun and I are going out tonight; you'll be fine by yourself, right, Izuku?" Inko casually said.

"Umm, yeah..."

The boy's eyes followed his mother as she left the room then he looked at his mentor. Yagi coughed nervously and fidgeted when he saw Izuku looking at him.

"I thought that maybe your mother would need a nice night out after a difficult... Marital affair..." he looked away.

So she had told him, Izuku figured.

"Just... Just bring her back at a decent time," Izuku said quietly.

"Of course,"

"Ok, I'm ready!"

Inko entered the room wearing a gray cardigan and a long pink skirt. She had let her hair down from the small bun she usually wore.

"Gah! This is too awkward!" Izuku ran to his room.

He heard his mother laugh as he ran away and his face turned red. The boy didn't like to think about his mother's personal love life. She was his mother for god's sake! He threw himself on the bed, groaning at how uncomfortable the idea was. But at the very least, he knew that All Might would never let anything bad happen to her.

Trying to shake off the feeling, Izuku turned on his video game console to distract himself. He then found himself unable to stay in his room with all of his All Might posters and figurines staring at him. Restless, the boy texted Tenya and Ochaco to see if they were willing to hang out. To his relief, both responded and they all agreed to get dinner at a restuarant recommended by one of their classmates.

"Sorry for the last minute plans, I just can't bear to stay at home right now," Izuku pouted.

"Aw, that's ok!" Ochaco smiled, patting her friend on the back. "We don't mind!"

"We've no doubt how much discomfort you are feeling right now," Tenya said. "It would be a shame to let a friend suffer,"

To his two friends, Izuku was willing to tell about his mother's relationship with their teacher. They were trustworthy and were true to their promise to not tell anyone. When the three friends walked into the restuarant, they immediately walked back out. Apparently, Inko and Yagi had chosen this restuarant to dine at as well.

"This is so weird!" Izuku screamed as he ran across the street with his friends following him.

"We can go to another place," the brunette tried to comfort him. "I know a place that has really good takoyaki,"

The boy nodded silently, his face flushed. His friends looked at one another, trying to decide what to talk about.

"Ah! Yaomomo suggested that we all go and hang out as a class," Ochaco exclaimed.

"It would definitely boost morale amongst our class," Tenya added. "We are still debating which activity to partake in though,"

The trio forgot about Izuku's awkward situation and tried to come up with ideas for the class to do for their outing. However, they were soon reminded of the boy's plight again when they left the restuarant. They had been merrily strolling around; the weather was nice and the three friends were enjoying it until it was disupted

"What are you going to do now, All Might?"

"Don't you dare lay a finger on her!"

"Uraraka, use your quirk on me and Midoriya!" Tenya quickly turned to the brunette.

Understanding, the girl placed her hands onto her friends' backs and with zero gravity, both boys were able to reach the offender in no time. Tenya kicked the man in the stomach as Izuku punched him in the face. Neither used their quirk as to not scare Izuku's mother but their fitness training alone paid off and the criminal was struck down. Ochaco slapped the man across the face and held him against the wall behind him with her quirk until the police arrived.

"Izuku!"

"Mom! Are you okay?"

The mother and son hugged one another, relieved to see that the other was safe.

"I'm fine now that you're here. Are these your friends?" Inko asked as she turned to Ochaco and Tenya.

"Nice to meet you,"

Both of them bowed and introduced themselves formally.

"All Might, are you ok?" Izuku turned around.

"I'm... fine..." came a weak response. "It's lucky that you all have provisional licenses, otherwise, we'd be in trouble,"

The boy could see through his false demeanor but didn't say anything out of respect.

"You and your friends are so cool!" Inko exclaimed. "You're such a tough cutie aren't you? Oh and Tenya, I have to look up to see your face! You're very handsome too! Thank you for taking care of my son,"

"Of course!" both friends immediately answered, smiling.

"We're glad that it wasn't a big ordeal," Tenya continued.

"But Ochaco, was it really necessary to slap the guy? He was already injured," Izuku asked, giggling.

"It was completely necessary! I had to activate my quirk on him somehow," the girl turned to Inko and winked. "Besides, us girls need to stick together, right?"

"Oh but I'm practically helpless,"

"Forgive me for speaking so bluntly but I believe that being a mother is also hero work," Tenya interjected.

"My, you have such good friends, Izuku," the woman blushed. "Why don't you all come over and I'll make dessert!"

"Yes! Mom makes the best cheesecake!"

"If it's no trouble," Tenya hesitated.

"Not at all," Inko made a motion with her hands to indicate for the teens to start walking.

When everyone was in the Midoriya household, Inko began bustling about the kitchen, determined to serve the best cheesecake she could make. The three friends sat on the couch and chatted. Yagi sat on the recliner, quiet and though the trio noticed, they kept quiet about it.

"Dessert is ready!"

Inko walked in, balancing two trays but she was obviously struggling. Both Izuku and Tenya stood up and took the trays from her, easing her from the struggle. Ochaco sliced the cake for everyone and insisted on serving despite Inko's protest.

"It's too late for coffee so I just made some hot chocolate," she smiled at her son's friends; proud that he had met very polite and valiant people.

"A very wise choice," Tenya nodded.

"Come on, let's dig in!" Ochaco exclaimed.

Everyone began to eat their dessert and Inko blushed as she was complimented over and over again.

"Oh, it's getting late, your parents must be worried!" the mother noticed the time.

"Yes, I believe it is time for us to return home," Tenya checked his wristwatch. "Thank you very much for your hospitality!"

"Hang on a moment, let me pack some more cheesecake for you two to take home!"

"That's not neccessary! You're already a very good host," Ochaco smiled politely.

"Shush!" Inko waved her hand. "I insist you take some,"

"It would be rude to refuse such a tasty treat," Tenya gave in.

After both Ochaco and Tenya were given a few slices of the cake for each of them in a neat container, they bowed politely, thanking the kind woman. They also turned to their teacher and bade him a good night. Izuku escorted his friends to the door where they talked for a bit before they departed. When he went back inside, he heard his teacher talking to his mother.

"I'm so very proud of my students but I felt so useless,"

Izuku froze, not knowing if he should return to the living room or to just go to his room.

"Don't you dare think of yourself as useless," Inko scolded. "You may be retired but you are still a great person,"

"Thank you Inko, I don't deserve you,"

"You're a sweet and wonderful man,"

"LALALALALALALALAAAAAA! I CAN'T HEAR YOU! LALALALALA! LALALALALALALALALALALALALAALAAAAAAAAAA!" Izuku couldn't take it anymore and he screamed, plugging his ears with his fingers as he sprinted to his room.

The two adults heartily laughed at the boy's sudden outburst.

"Listen, I know you can bring out your other qualities," Inko said when their laughter died down. "Please, don't be so hard on yourself,"

"It's hard to do; I've spent most of my life focusing on being a hero that I gave little thought to anything else," Yagi answered, sighing.

"Better late than never,"

Inko leaned in and pressed a soft kiss onto Yagi's lips. It grew more passionate as they both let their lips part, exploring the other's mouth with their tongues. She let out a moan, louder than she meant to.

"THERE IS A CHILD IN THE HOUSE!"

The two broke apart abruptly, laughing once again at the boy's outburst.

...

The next morning, Izuku sleepily went to the kitchen and was surprised to see Yagi already sitting at the table. It seemed as if he had spent the night because he was wearing a large t-shirt that the boy recognized as his mom's. He also wore a pair of gym shorts that belonged to Izuku's father. The green haired boy almost gagged, thinking of the worst.

"Don't worry, I slept on the couch," Yagi seemed to read his student's mind. "After all, there is a child in this house,"

He gave a hearty laugh and Izuku sunk down into a chair, his face turning red. He wondered if it was possible for his face to stay that way if he kept getting flustered like this.

"Oh, Izuku, how did you sleep?" Inko called over from the stove. "There's an event down at the shopping district today, doesn't that sound nice?"

"Y-yeah..." the boy muttered, still flustered.

"I invited Mitsuki and Kacchan to come with us,"

Both Izuku and Yagi stiffened; it was no secret at school that Katsuki despised the green haired boy. Yagi looked over to his student to see his reaction. Inko thought that there was a friendly rivalry now between the two boys. It was true that after learning about One for All, Katsuki didn't bother Izuku as much but it didn't mean his contempt was gone.

When it came to certain things however, the boy didn't know how to say no to his mother, especially if she just wanted to go to a special event and have fun. Mitsuki met up with them in front of the apartment building, her scowling son in tow. He didn't say anything so his mother clapped her hand rather hard on Katsuki's back, scolding him for not greeting his elders properly.

"Good afternoon, Midoriya-san, All Might-sensei," he grimly bowed slightly, ignoring Izuku completely.

No one commented on Mitsuki scolding her son nor did they say anything when he muttered 'old hag' to himself.

"Kacchan, it's been so long!" Inko hugged the blonde boy. "You've grown so tall and handsome!"

Katsuki let himself be squeezed into a hug but backed away when the older Midoriya began pinching his cheeks. She laughed and apologised.

"Sorry, I forgot that you're a young man now," the woman giggled. "It's just that it seems like only yesterday that you and Izuku were tiny,"

All five of them walked to the shopping district with the two women talking and the remaining three following them in silence. Katsuki scowled as he stuffed his hands into his pockets whilst Izuku tried to keep his distance from him. The event turned out to be a fashion raffle and so the two boys were uninterested but to their surprise, Yagi also bought a few tickets.

Katsuki rolled his eyes and mumbled that he'd be at a nearby cafe. Izuku apprehensively followed after the young blonde, wanting a cup of coffee after the morning he had. He had just woken up to find that his idol had slept over at his house and that his mother was quite taken with him. The cafe was full so the two boys ended up sitting at the same table.

"So your mom's fucking All Might, huh?"

"What?!"

Katsuki smirked as the boy across from him began to grow flustered.

"It's not like that!" Izuku managed to sputter out.

"I overheard the hag tell my old man about your parents' divorce," the blonde drummed his fingers on the table. "What he did was fucked up; I can't even bring myself to make fun of you for that,"

"Thank you Kacchan,"

"Shut up! I'm not trying to make friends!"

"Still, it feels nice to hear it,"

"I'll fucking kill you, Deku,"

Izuku couldn't help but giggle as he sipped on his coffee. The blonde stood up, having finished his beverage and deposited the empty cup into the trash before walking out. Izuku wondered what made Katsuki give him some sort of symphathy. It was out of character and it baffled the boy. He was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard a loud bang. Jerking his head up and looking out the window, he saw Katsuki yelling, jumping away from a slab of concrete that had been thrown at him.

Izuku tore out of the cafe and was faced with disaster. Someone with a crab mutation quirk was swinging their claws around. Ever since All Might had retired, crime had spiked up at an alarming rate. Not wanting to be in the way of Katsuki, the green haired boy put his emergency rescue lessons to use. He dug through the rubble and pulled out two frightened children. Taking each child in his arms, he called out for their parents. A woman rushed forward, claiming the children and thanking Izuku over and over again.

"Find a safe place, ma'am," he instructed. "Everyone! Clear the area! Is there anyone else missing?"

A few people came forward and as Izuku pulled all of the trapped victims into safety, he couldn't help but look at Katsuki out of the corner of his eye. A crab's weak spot was its stomach but this villain was clever enough to wear a metal vest over it. Katsuki attacked relentlessly but he was making no headway against the hard shell of the large claws being swung around. When all bystanders had been evacuated, he ran to the blonde's side.

"Stay back you damn extra!" the blonde yelled.

"Kacchan!" Izuku ignored the warning. "You see that metal vest? I'll distract him and you melt it and take him out; the underbelly is a crab's weakness,"

"Damn it Deku!"

Katsuki shouted but listened to the freckled boy's plan. As Izuku made himself a clear distraction, he blocked the blows that were being swung around and he raised his arms, his feet firmly planted onto the ground to avoid being flung away. The blonde stayed low and ran straight for the villain with a fiery punch. The metal melted rather quickly under the heat and in shock, the crab man hybrid reeled back.

"Again!"

Both Izuku and Katsuki took the moment of shock to charge forward, both delivering punches to the weak spot. The criminal flew back into a brick wall, specifically planned by Izuku to minimize collateral damage. Unconcious, the hybrid slumped forward and onto the ground. Luckily, only the sidewalk was torn up and a few shop windows were broken but none of it was devestating. The green haired boy had evacuated the citizens in time and no one was seriously hurt. Cursing, Katsuki broke off a stop sign and twisted the metal pole around the offender to restrain him.

Izuku fell to his knees, breathing heavily. He had fought villains before but never in an area with a huge amount of civilians around. It was scary to think that a crowd of people were in danger but he was also happy that he had managed to get them out of the way. He only got back up when a police officer asked him for a report. Both of the boys' mothers rushed forward, pulling them into tight embraces.

"Get off me, you old hag!"

The blonde mother and son began a shouting match but Izuku buried his face into his mother's shoulder.

"Are you ok?" she asked, checking her son all over, looking for any injuries. "You and Kacchan were so cool; you're a hero,"

"I'm just a semi-pro, mom," Izuku sighed, relieved to feel his mother's comfort. "Kacchan and I have provisional licenses but it doesn't mean we're there just yet,"

"But it was one big step closer," Mitsuki grinned. "We're so proud of you both!"

"Mom, where's All Might?"

Everyone looked around and indeed, the blonde man was gone. Izuku pulled out his phone, ignoring the cracked screen and tried to call his mentor but was sent straight to voicemail. Frantically, he texted him, asking where he was but after impatiently waiting for about ten minutes, there was no answer. This was strange because if Yagi couldn't pick up a call, he would always send a text letting him know that he was busy.

"This is no good," Izuku muttered to himself, shaking.

"I think I know where he is," Inko replied. "You all stay here,"

Inko turned and began rushing to the nearest park. Sure enough, she found Yagi there, sitting on a swing with his head in his hands. She had remembered being told that he used to come to this park as a child. Slowly, she approached the man and he peered up at her with a look of shame on his face.

"Young Midoriya and Young Bakugo are growing stronger," he smiled feebly. "They'll be great heroes,"

"Toshi-kun," Inko reached out, taking his hand into hers. "I'm not here to talk about that,"

"I just feel like I'm no good anymore,"

"All Might never gave up so why should Toshi-kun give up?"

"Because I'm weak,"

"No, you're not. You may not be a pro anymore but you're still a hero to me,"

Yagi blushed and looked away but Inko gently turned his head back to face her again.

"You still teach at U.A., watching over students with great potential," she softly said. "Izuku still looks up to you and so many other people do too,"

"I don't deserve that attention," he sighed

"Shush! Don't talk like that,"

She leaned forward and kissed the man on the forehead.

"Come on, everyone is worried and wondering where you are," Inko pulled him out of the swing. "Let's go back,"

"All Might!"

Upon seeing his mentor, Izuku rushed forward, hugging him tightly. A smile settled onto Yagi's face as he patted the boy on the back. Inko lied, saying that the blonde was caught up in the panicking crowd that was running from the scene of the crime.

"I'm so proud of you two," he grinned.

Izuku began to weep with tears of joy whilst Katsuki crossed his arms and looked away but inside, he was swelling with happiness at the compliment. All Might was Katsuki's idol too, after all.

"Yeah, well, I'm not about to let some shithead interrupt my day," the blonde boy huffed, recieving a slap on the back of his head from his mother. "Damn it, you old hag!"

He recieved another slap to the back of his head and the mother and son resumed their shouting match. Inko giggled at the sight; ever since she could remember, Katsuki was full of energy and though his habit of disrespecting his parents was disapproved, she smiled all the same. He had helped prevent many casualties after all and it was Mitsuki's job to scold him anyways.

The following Monday, Izuku was crowded by his classmates, admiring his bravery. They tried to give Katsuki a kind word as well but were told to fuck off. The students just shrugged their shoulders and went back to praising Izuku until Aizawa-sensei came in and broke up the excitement. He was also immensely proud of his students but he wasn't about to inflate their, well, Katsuki's ego.

After classes were done for the day, Izuku recieved a text from Yagi, telling him to meet him at the usual place at the beach. After greeting his mentor, the blonde man reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box.

"Young Midoriya, I know that the situation between your mother and I have is a somewhat distasteful subject to you," he began.

"You got that right," Izuku sighed.

"But, I want to know if your mother would like this,"

Yagi opened the box, revealing a simple silver chain with a small diamond in the shape of a tear dangling from it. The boy's eyes widened at the necklace and he felt heat rising in his face.

"Sh-she would love it," Izuku stared at the piece of jewelry. "Mom doesn't really like flashy jewelry. She likes the simple ones better but why are you showing this to me?"

"I want to ask if she would be my partner and I want to make sure that you were alright with it," Yagi sheepishly answered.

"I-I'm fine with it because I know you would never hurt her but could you please, please, please leave me out of this?!"

Yagi laughed as he watched his student's face grow into a darker crimson. Before the boy plugged his ears with his fingers, his teacher changed the subject.

"That's not the only reason why I called you out here," the blonde smiled. "I just want to say that I'm proud of you and Young Bakugo,"

"Th-thank you!" Izuku's face was still red but this time, it was from being praised by his idol.

"Every time I see you in action, I can't help but think to myself that I couldn't have chosen anyone better to succeed me,"

"I want to make you proud!"

"You've already done that but you have a long way to go, Young Midoriya,"

...

Izuku began to visit his mother every weekend and Yagi was always there. Inko had accepted the necklace and the proposal of a steady relationship. Thankfully, they did not flirt or display any of their romantic feelings in front of the boy. They were both aware of where he stood in the situation but it amused the two adults. The boy's outburst announcing that there was a child in the house came up often and Inko teased her son with it.

Still, the boy began to feel something he hadn't in a long time. There was a familiar atmosphere of being a united family when Yagi was visiting and spending time with them. Izuku's father was always on business overseas ever since he could remember and he had forgotten what having both parents around was like. Admittedly, he had become sort of a mama's boy but no one could really blame him. Ochaco thought it was cute whilst Tenya thought that it was very noble of him to be close to his mother.

To his distaste, Hisashi was also around more often then he ever was in the past. He had been moving his belongings out of the house little by little, occasionally having paperwork for Inko to sign. The boy protectively stood by his mother and held her hand under the table when she was signing papers.

"Izuku, you musn't hate your father," Inko said one day.

His father had just left after dropping by to collect a few boxes that Inko had dumped his belongings in.

"But mom!" Izuku protested. "What he did was terrible!"

"None of that!" the mother scolded her son. "He is still your father and he is still going to support you,"

"What, with child support?! He should've been there the whole time for us. Why couldn't he find a job where he could be with his family all the time?!"

"Your mother is right,"

Yagi entered the kitchen where the mother and son were. He had hid himself in the living room as he always did when Izuku's father dropped by. He wasn't happy with the man and didn't like him either but he sided with Inko.

"He is still your father, no matter what," he sighed as he sat at the table.

"Well, he's a bad father!" Izuku pouted.

"Enough!" Inko snapped, catching both her son and her boyfriend off guard. "What he did to me was what he did to me and not to you,"

"If he loved us so much, why would he even risk losing his family at all?!"

"Young Midoriya," Yagi said in a dangerous tone.

The boy shut his mouth and ran to his room. He had begun to despise his father especially since he seemingly couldn't be bothered to say more than a few sentences to Izuku. He wasn't usually a hateful person but this was different. A man who was supposed to be there for him had just broken their family apart and for what? Another woman?

A knock on Izuku's door alerted him and upon opening it, he saw Yagi standing there. He mumbled for him to come in and offered his desk chair as he sat on his bed. The blonde man looked around him; posters and figurines of his old self lined each wall. When the boy realized this, he blushed deeply as he did when his classmates held the room contest the first night that they had moved into the U.A. dorms.

"Please, don't hate your father," Yagi finally said. "Hate breeds more hate,"

"I guess," Izuku brought his knees up to his chin. "I always thought that even though he was away a lot, at least he was supporting us from afar,"

"I'm sure he still loves you,"

"Yeah, I know,"

After their short but meaningful conversation, Izuku decided that he would do his best not to hate his father. It was a wonder what a few words could do to see things in a different light even if it was only a little. When he saw his father again the next weekend, the boy followed after him.

"Hey, dad?"

"What is it, Izuku?"

The boy sighed, trying to still his hatred.

"Do you think that maybe we could go out to get ice cream or something?" Izuku continued.

"I owe you that much," Hisashi looked down at the box in his hands. "Tell you what, I'll treat you to lunch. Come on down with me,"

"O-ok!"

His mother was out with Yagi so he didn't have to stay behind to comfort his mother. His mentor would do that for him and Izuku trusted him more than anything. He grabbed his hoodie and keys before slipping his shoes on and going downstairs to his father's car. He approached the vehicle but was shocked to see a woman in the front seat. Awkwardly, his father introduced her to his son.

"Izuku, this is Berry,"

"You're so cute! It's nice to meet you Izuku!"

"Nice to meet you too," the boy mumbled before slipping into the backseat, not bothering to help his father load his belongings into the trunk.

Did he really have to invite him to lunch, knowing full well that this other woman was in the car? Anger rushed through him but he took a deep breath, trying to heed his mother and mentor's words. They drove to a small restuarant where Berry asked Izuku a million questions. He tried to answer without muttering in contempt to the woman. From what he could tell, she looked like a gold digger, making the boy resent his father even more.

"So, you got accepted into U.A., right?" Hisashi asked.

"Yeah, like a while ago," Izuku answered bitterly.

The man flinched at the tone but he decided to let it go and began to ask about his school experience. It baffled him that his son suddenly had a quirk but the boy seemed unwilling to talk about it.

"So All Might is your teacher?" Berry smiled widely. "That's so cool! Do you think I can get an autograph?"

"No," Izuku cut the woman off.

He knew he was being rude but he couldn't help it. The boy was trying his hardest to not hate his father but sitting across the other woman made it terribly hard.

"It would be inappropriate for a student to ask their teacher for such a thing," the freckled boy hastily added.

"It's alright," the smile didn't leave Berry's face but the genuinity behind it dropped. "It was extremely forward of me anyways,"

"Are you making good friends?" his father cleared his throat, hoping to ease his son's apparent bad mood.

"Yeah," Izuku didn't really want to tell his father about all of the friends he had made; would he even care?

After this, the boy let the conversation between his father and Berry go on but he didn't contribute. The two adults noticed but didn't try to entice him back into the conversation; Izuku's contempt was apparent to them. After leaving the restuarant, they headed back to the car which was in a secluded parking lot. The boy sighed when he heard Berry be grabbed by someone.

"Hisashi-kun! Help me!"

"Shut it before I slit your throat!"

Izuku looked at his father who had frozen up in fear then at Berry in the criminal's grasp.

"You idiot, are you just going to stand there?"

The boy yelled as he jumped onto the trunk of his father's car, vaulting himself towards the criminal. He was much faster than his opponent was and he landed a kick to the back of the man's head. He crumpled forward, letting go of Berry, who immediately ran to Hisashi. The boy angrily grit his teeth as he tore off the rear bumper of his father's car, twisting it and tying the criminal's hands behind his back.

"What are you doing just standing there?! Call the police!" Izuku snapped.

Hisashi fumbled into his pockets for his phone and as he was telling the operater what their location was, he held Berry close to him. He then looked at his wrecked car and sighed.

"Did you really have to smash my car?" he gave his son an annoyed look.

"Shut up old man!" Izuku barked, seething with rage. "I saved your dumb girlfriend's life because you couldn't bring yourself to even think to do anything helpful! You're lucky that I have a provisional license, otherwise your precious bimbo would be dead!"

The criminal tried to worm away from Izuku but the boy brought his foot down rather harshly onto his back. Gritting his teeth, Izuku's eyes dared for his father and his girlfriend to say something. They were speechless and couldn't bring themselves to chastise him. For the first time in his life, Izuku had considered not protecting someone who was in need of help even if it was for a split second.

After the police arrived to detain the attacker and Izuku gave a report, the boy walked away on his own. He ignored his father asking where he was going and just kept on pushing forward. The boy soon came to a stop at a park. It was the very park that he had stood in front of a fellow boy, defending him from Katsuki's bullying. He remembered that his arms were burned badly and Mitsuki had dragged her son by the ear to the Midoriya household to make her scowling son apologise.

Sitting down on a swing, he finally felt the shame of his consideration to just let Berry be a victim. He felt bad for yelling at his father and wrecking his car. There were plenty of items around to restrain the criminal with but Izuku chose to rip off the bumper of his father's car. Sighing, he dug his feet into the dirt, consumed with guilt.

When it started to get dark, he decided to head home so he wouldn't worry his mother. At dinner, Izuku picked at his food and mumbled that he was fine when asked if he was feeling sick. After his mentor went to the store to buy ice cream for them, Inko approached her son.

"Izuku, what is this?"

She held out her phone, showing her son a text from his father. Upon reading it, Izuku turned his head away, annoyed that his father didn't even bother to text him directly.

"Tell Izuku that I'm sorry and that I'm grateful that he saved me," the text read.

"I tried to not hate dad and I asked if we could spend time together but he brought her along," he explained.

"That doesn't explain the 'saving' part," Inko furrowed her eyesbrows, worried about her son.

"Someone tried to attack us and I helped them,"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because for a moment, I thought about just letting the guy slit her throat,"

"Oh, Izuku,"

The woman leaned forward and hugged her son in an attempt to comfort him.

"Did he really have to bring her along?!" Izuku cried into his mother's shoulder.

"No, your father was wrong for that," Inko replied, rubbing the boy's back, trying to soothe him. "You wanted to spend time with him even though I know you're still mad at him and it was innappropriate of him to take you out knowing that she was there,"

"But what would All Might think if he knew I hesitated?"

Inko stayed silent, not knowing what to say. She herself was no pro hero and thus, couldn't come up with the words to comfort him. Instead, she held her son close and told him that no matter what, he would always be a hero. When Yagi returned, she didn't tell him what her son had told her, knowing that Izuku would tell him on his own. When Izuku decided to retire to his room, Yagi looked at Inko who sighed.

"I'm worried about what the divorce is doing to him," she said sadly.

"It is a difficult ordeal for children," Yagi replied softly. "But your son still loves you,"

"I've no doubt about that but I don't want Izuku to hate his father,"

"You did what was right and refused to stay with a man who violated your wedding vows,"

"But at what cost? My son's happiness?"

Yagi stayed quiet; he had had children mob him in the past and he always played along with them if he could but he knew nothing about raising them at all.

"Maybe I'm overreacting," Inko sighed.

"No, you're not," Yagi shook his head. "You may have stopped loving your ex-husband but you haven't stopped loving your son and isn't that what matters the most?"

"That is true,"

"Inko, I really do love being with you but if you must put me aside for your son, I'm more than willing to step out of the way because I know he's the most important to you,"

Inko leaned on her boyfriend's shoulder and closed her eyes, sighing. The divorce itself was very stressful but she still had Izuku and her boyfriend. She reached up to her neck and felt the tear drop shaped diamond dangling from the necklace that Yagi had given her. It was a beautiful gift and she loved it. She held up her wrist, covered in a bracelet made of yarn that Izuku had made for her years ago whilst he was still in elementary school.

"Izuku gets so embarrassed whenever he sees this," Inko giggled. "He made it when he was in kindergarten,"

"That's so sweet of you to keep wearing it," the blonde man smiled at the woman's sweet kindness. "Tell me more about his childhood,"

Smiling, the mother began telling stories about her son like the time he had gotten his head stuck in a stair railing when he was six years old and when the boy began to insist on wearing a 'big boy' backpack despite the fact that it was bigger than the small child.

...

Izuku spent his free time during the week to train at the gymnasium more than usual. His friends were extremely worried about him and tried to convince him to take a break at the very least but he refused. In the end, Ochaco and Tenya decided to just study in the sidelines with a bottle of water and a towel ready for the boy when he was finally finished.

Guilt had been wracking his mind ever since the incident with his father. He neglected to tell his friends about it, afraid that he would be chastised and to him, rightfully so. In reality, it had only been a split second that he considered letting the criminal have his way with Berry but to him, it felt like he had spent his sweet time reconsidering.

On Thursday, whilst Izuku was training, Aizawa-sensei approached him. The boy stopped and greeted his teacher then saw his father behind him. He grit his teeth and greeted him as well, though it was reluctant. Ochaco and Tenya jumped up, passing a water bottle and a towel to their friend. Their teacher dismissed them so that he could speak to Izuku.

"Midoriya, your father would like to speak with you," Aizawa-sensei said as he stepped aside.

"What do you want, dad?" Izuku couldn't help but be callous as he wiped the sweat off his face.

The teacher raised an eyebrow at his student's brash behavior but he kept quiet. He had never seen the boy be rude or disrespectful like he was acting now. Hisashi looked embarrassed and he rubbed the back of his neck.

"Izuku, come have dinner with me," he said slowly.

"Is she going to be there?" the boy wouldn't meet his father's gaze.

"No,"

"Midoriya, I need an answer so I can notify the security system of your absence," Aizawa-sensei could feel the tension in the air. "If you choose to go, that is,"

"Fine," the boy grit his teeth. "Just let me get dressed,"

When Izuku left the school perimeter, he saw that his father had gotten a new car. Grimacing, the boy just got into the vehicle, slamming the door shut. He knew that he should be sorry but he couldn't help but feel contempt. It was easy to feel guilty when his father wasn't around but it was replaced by extreme irritation when his father was around.

"There's a good place a co-worker of mine suggested," Hisashi looked straight ahead as he buckled his seatbelt. "They have some really good Pork Donburi and I know that's your favorite,"

The boy would've preferred to have dinner with his classmates but he kept quiet. The students had a system where each student took turns cooking and cleaning every night. Tonight was Sato's turn and though he mostly concentrated on sweet foods, he was also good at cooking other dishes. Not to mention that for dessert, he always prepared a nice treat for them all. Izuku grunted and slid down in his seat.

"Izuku, do you hate me?"

The father and son had just finished ordering when Izuku was asked the heavy question.

"Yes and no," Izuku sighed. "You hurt mom and you know she works hard and ever since I moved into the U.A. dorms, she's been super lonely,"

He purposely left out the fact that All Might spent most of his time with his mother when he wasn't teaching. She was happy with him and no one doubted that the retired hero would ever lay a finger on Inko or even think about betraying her. His father didn't deserve to see her or even know anything about her life.

"And why would you invite me to lunch when you knew that she was there?" the boy continued. "You're stupid,"

"Alright, I've had enough of your disrespectful attitude," Hisashi said firmly. "I know you're not happy but I can't let you continue talking to me like this,"

Izuku just turned his head, trying to keep himself calm. The freckled boy rarely ever talked back to his parents like this but it was just so infuriating to deal with his father as of late.

"No," the boy shot back. "You reap what you sow,"

"Izuku, work with me," his father sighed.

"I'm trying but how can I not say anything after what you did to mom?"

"It's not that simple,"

"Yes, it is! Mom never strayed away whilst she was married to you so why couldn't you keep your ass still?!"

"Izuku," Hisashi said in a dangerous tone.

"And do you know how lonely I was? Hmm? Have you ever thought about that? That in elementary school, I was teased for not having a dad around for father's day? I was so jealous of Kacchan because his dad cared about his family, enough to turn down a job overseas, unlike you," the boy ignored him. "You can't come back and simply expect me to not be upset! Especially with that woman!"

At this point, Izuku had become louder than he meant to and everyone in the restuarant was staring at him. He crossed his arms and huffed, irritated with his father. The boy slid down in his chair with his arms crossed, scowling. The older Midoriya sighed, his weak attempt to lecture his son for talking back to him had failed.

"What do you want me to do then?" he asked, defeated.

"I never want to see that woman again," Izuku hissed.

"Well, that'll be hard since she and I are getting married,"

The boy stood up abruptly and left the restuarant without a word. His father didn't follow after him and Izuku headed straight for the dorms. Aizawa-sensei was surprised to see his student back so soon.

"I thought you went out with your father," he said to the boy.

"Well, we had a change of plans," Izuku answered quickly. "I'm going to turn in now, good night sir,"

"Midoriya, wait,"

The boy stopped and turned to look at his teacher again.

"You've been acting unusual lately. Do you have a fever? Do you need to see Recovery Girl?" the teacher looked at his student, concerned.

"I'm just tired is all," Izuku lied.

"Go home,"

"What?"

"Tomorrow is Friday and it's only going to be light training," Aizawa-sensei elaborated. "You've done enough training for the whole class this past week. Go and see your mother. I will take responsibility,"

Tears welled up in Izuku's eyes and for the first time, he cried over his parents' divorce. His teacher didn't know about the ugly affair but somehow, he seemed to know that of all people, Izuku needed his mother. It worried him that his student was in such a state.

"Thank you," the boy sniffled, his eyes welling up with tears.

Instead of protesting, Izuku listened to his teacher and left that very night. He told Ochaco and Tenya what had happened at the restuarant as he packed his bag. They nodded, understanding that he was in emotional agony. When he left the school grounds, the green haired boy ran all the way home. Inko was surprised to see her son but welcomed him in anyways. Yagi was out, running some errands so the two were alone. Izuku told his mother what had happened and he began to cry again.

"You haven't eaten yet, have you?" Inko asked. "Go set your things down and wash your face; I'm going to make dinner for you,"

The boy silently nodded and did as he was told. He sat in the living room, staring at the TV, not even bothering to turn it on.

"You have to turn on the set before you can watch anything, you know," Yagi had returned from his errands and as always, he was shooed out of the kitchen.

"All Might, is it bad that I almost let my dad's girlfriend be assaulted?" Izuku asked quietly.

"What are you talking about?"

The boy explained what had transpired the week before and shame rose inside of him. One For All had specifically been passed down to him by his idol because Izuku didn't stand down when someone needed help.

"That," Yagi sighed. "Is a very complicated matter but you ended up saving her anyways, didn't you?"

"Yeah..." Izuku looked down.

"It must be hard for you but at the very least, you put aside your emotions to save her even if it was for that one moment. We are human, Young Midoriya; just because we live in a world with quirks doesn't mean we are gods,"

"What do you mean?"

"Some people think that they are better than others because they have a quirk but in the end, we are still human and the turmoils that arise from your type of situation is the same as it ever was,"

"So you're not disappointed in me?"

"Of course not,"

Izuku smiled and Yagi smiled back at him. When they were called for dinner, the boy seemed to be in lighter spirits. Inko had prepared the boy's favorite meal since he didn't even get to eat the very same dish that he had ordered at the restuarant earlier. He was very grateful and didn't mind that he missed out on eating at the restuarant; his mother's cooking was better anyways.

As if his father wasn't done irritating him yet, Izuku recieved a text the next day, asking him to attend the wedding. He simply sent a 'NO' in response and tossed his phone aside. It became worse when Berry came to their home. Izuku furrowed his eyebrows upon seeing the woman at his front door.

"What do you want?" he snapped.

"Izuku, Hisashi and I are going to get married which means I'll be your step-mother," the woman smiled. "So we should get along, don't you think?"

"No,"

The boy slammed the door and when Inko asked who it was, he lied and said that it was no one. When the doorbell rang again, Izuku was unable to reach it before his mother could. He knew it was Berry and he didn't want that woman anywhere near his mother. The unwelcome guest pushed past the green haired woman and stomped towards Izuku.

"You're a rude little shit," she growled. "I've tried to be nice but it seems like you just want to be an ungrateful brat! After all your father has done for you!"

"Well, you're no fucking saint either, bitch!" Izuku yelled. "You're the homewrecker! You're the gold digger! And you're the slut!"

"I should beat your ass!"

"Don't talk to my son like that!" Inko pushed the woman away from Izuku. "Now, please leave!"

Berry glared at both mother and son before leaving, slamming the door shut. Izuku looked up at his mother to make sure that she was okay but he recieved a slap in the face.

"What's gotten into you, Izuku?!" Inko yelled. "I don't care what your father did or what that woman did; you do not act like that!"

The boy was shocked, the pain on his cheek stung from his mother's hand. It had been a long while since she had done that but he knew that it was because it was so out of character to act like he had been doing so lately.

"I know that you're not particularly happy with your father or that woman but I've taught you better than to disrespect others!" Inko continued, furious. "Go to your room and think about what you've done!"

Mumbling an apology, Izuku went to his room, his heart pounding in his ears. Why did his father infuriate him so much to the point that he would so callously disrespect him? The boy knew he shouldn't do so but he had done it anyways. His phone buzzed and upon looking at it, he saw another text from his father.

"Berry told me what happened. I'm very sorry. Please don't hate me," the text read.

Sighing, Izuku just put his phone face down on his desk. He didn't hate his father but he hated what he had done. Pacing, the boy pondered on his recent behavior. It was the type of thing that he saw Mistuki smack her son for. But seeing his father just agitated him and he let his temper loose. He had to stop himself from flaring up around him. Perhaps it was too early to try to forgive his father; he needed time to heal first.

Suddenly, he could hear his mother yelling. She sounded incredibly angry, something that barely happened. Izuku pressed his ear to his door to try and make out what was going on.

"I don't care if you're going to marry her but you can't allow her to just treat Izuku like that!"

"Inko, calm down!"

Izuku's eyes grew wide as he recognized his father's voice.

"No! I'm not going to calm down! That woman tried to pick a fight with our son!"

"Well, I can't control her!"

"Keep her away from here and I never want to see her act that way to Izuku ever again!"

"She didn't mean to!"

"I don't care! Now get out!"

"Listen, he's my son too!"

"That doesn't mean she is allowed to treat Izuku like that! Now get out of here!"

"You're acting ridculous!

"She asked you to leave," Yagi's voice boomed. "I think it's best if you listen to her,"

Heavy footsteps were followed by the sound of the front door slamming. It seemed that after sending his son a text, Izuku's father had tried to smooth things out for himself. It irked him to hear that his father didn't even try to ask to see him but he was glad that his mother had chased him out. The boy had never heard his parents fight before but he supposed that either he was too young to realize what was going on at the time or that his father was away almost all the time.

He then realized the amount of stress his mother really was under. Inko was the type of woman who smiled on the outside no matter how much she was hurting on the inside. Izuku thought that his mother was ok but he was wrong. She just probably didn't want to worry her son and everyone else around her. The boy sat on the floor in a fetal position, listening to his mother sobbing and Yagi comforting her.

His phone buzzed again and Izuku stared at it before slowly picking it up. He knew it was from his father; Izuku scowled and when he saw the message, he threw his phone across the room. Of all things, his father had asked for an autograph from All Might. He couldn't even face him even though he showed up in person at their apartment but he was insolent enough to ask for such a thing.

"Izuku!" a banging on his door brought him back to his senses. "What was that noise?"

"Nothing," the boy quickly said when he opened the door but his mother spotted his broken phone, changing his mind about lying.

"Dad asked me if I can get an autograph from All Might,"

The boy was emotionally drained; it seemed that his father was on a mission to make both him and his mother miserable.

"The nerve of him!" Inko exclaimed. "And he couldn't even bother to see his own son!"

"Now, let's calm down, the both of you," Yagi said in a soothing voice.

"I'm reducing your allowance for the next three months," the mother firmly said.

"That's fair," Izuku sighed as he sat picked up his broken phone.

It didn't look too damaged; he could probably get Momo to duplicate it for him. Instead of inspecting it further, Izuku put it down on his desk and turned to his mother.

"Listen, mom," the boy wiped away tears from his eyes. "I'm really sorry for the way I acted. You taught me better than that and I shouldn't have lost my temper like that,"

"I suppose it was hard to contain all that anger," Inko pulled her son into a hug. "But I never want to hear or see you be so disrespectful again!"

"I won't. I promise,"

The tension died down and Yagi insisted on making tea for them. Izuku decided that he wouldn't contact his father again until he was sure that he wouldn't lash out. It hurt to see his mother be unhappy and it was worse to pile more stress on top of it.

...

Momo was indeed able to duplicate the phone and immediately, service was returned to the device. In exchange, Izuku bought a large set of pork buns for her to make up for all of the lipids that were taken from her body. The snacks cost quite a lot and his allowance had been reduced to half the amount he usually received but he didn't mind. All he wanted to do was to be able to call his mother.

His father began to call and text him more frequently to the point that Izuku kept his phone off except to call his mother and until he could get his number changed. Asking for All Might's autograph had been the final straw for him. Yagi wasn't very pleased to hear about it and didn't have to say anything for the boy to know what he was thinking. It was the first time that he had purposely denied an autograph to one of his fans but he felt that it was justified. Sometimes, he would actually return and seek the person he left behind to give them his autograph. Tenya and Ochaco were apalled to hear of it but stayed quiet about the messy divorce out of respect for their friend.

At the very least, final exams were coming up, distracting the boy from his plight. He crammed as much as he could so he could pass. The class was told that anyone who failed were to take remedial classes during spring break. Izuku wanted to avoid that so he could spend time with his mother and Yagi.

Yagi had slowly become a father figure to him in addition to being a mentor. It was no surprise to see the blonde man already at the Midoriya household when Izuku came over for the weekends. Having him around was nice especially since he seemed to make Inko happy. However, he still couldn't stand the thought of his mother being intimate with anyone. That was his mother and he did not need to know anything about that aspect of her relationship with her boyfriend.

"You're such a smart boy!" Inko's eyes sparkled when she saw her son's graded test. "I'm proud of you,"

"Thanks mom," Izuku blushed.

"He's been improving greatly," Yagi commented, smiling. "He did exceptionally well in the physical tests too,"

The boy's face turned into a deeper red and he turned away to hide it. He had worked hard as to not be placed in remedial classes and missing spring break, so he could spend more time with his mother. For the first few days, the trio lazed around, watching movies and eating snacks. They were then invited by the Bakugo family to go camping with them. They heartily accepted the invitation and went to buy some camping gear.

The two women shared a tent and the second was shared by Masaru and Yagi which meant that Izuku and Katsuki had to share the third one. When he decided to turn in for the night, the boy quietly unzipped the entrace of the tent that he was assigned to and laid down. At first, he listened for any indications that Katsuki had woken up, which he deperately wanted to avoid but after several minutes, his mind wandered elsewhere.

Suddenly, he could hear footsteps and his mother's voice. Yagi's voice followed after her and they began to talk. Izuku didn't mean to eavesdrop but he found that he could help himself.

"You can't sleep either?" his mother asked.

"No," came the answer.

"The stars are very beautiful out here. It's a shame that you can't see this kind of thing in the city,"

"It really is a shame,"

"What do you think of Mitsuki and Masaru? I know you've met them before but you weren't able to get to know them until now,"

"They are good people but I can now say that I know where young Bakugo's temper comes from,"

"She's been that way since we were kids,"

Silence fell upon them as crickets chirped but when Izuku decided that nothing else would be said, Yagi spoke.

"Inko, are you happy being with me?" his voice was timid.

"Of course," the woman smiled; Izuku couldn't see her but he just knew that she was smilling. "If I was unhappy, I'd have left,"

"I've never been in a relationship this seriously before,"

"Well, you were busy being the number one hero. Surely that took up a lot of time,"

"I'm a little overwhelmed. Inko, your beauty is unsurpassed and your soul is even more beautiful. I-I love you,"

There was a silence and Izuku held his breath. What would his mother say?

"You know, I've been thinking a lot about that phrase. I tell Izuku that I love him but I don't remember the last time I've said it to Hisashi," Inko said slowly.

"Forgive me, I was too forward-," Yagi began but was interrupted.

"But you are a different man from him. You are more than just a hero; you are an incredible human being. There's so much about you that's positive without counting your hero work,"

"Inko..."

"I think I can safely say that I love you too,"

Izuku shoved his fingers in his ears as he heard sounds of the two making out. He turned over and gagged; why couldn't he have just ignored their conversation?! Something hard fell on his face and he gasped in pain. Unintentionally, he had bumped into Katsuki when he turned over and the blonde had woken up.

"Oi, Deku! Can't you even let me sleep in peace?!" he yelled. "You just have to get in the way of everything I fucking do, don't you?!"

"Ahh, I'm sorry Kacchan!" Izuku frantically distanced himself away from Katsuki but he could only get so far, being in a small tent. "I didn't mean to wake you,"

He recieved two punches in the stomach and another to his jaw. By this time, Inko had unzipped the tent, having heard the commotion and Mitsuki pushed past her to punish her son. When things settled down, Inko and Yagi went to their respective tents. Izuku lay down, sighing; he honestly preferred being beaten than hearing his mother make out with someone.

...

The camping trip seemed to have brought Yagi and Inko closer together. Izuku suspected that it was due to their conversation but he quickly tried to block it out by mentally reciting multiplication problems whenever the thought came into his head. At the very least, his mother was happy with a man that she could trust. However, it didn't go unnoticed that Yagi became a huge presence in the Midoriya household as if he always belonged there. Truthfully, he fit in perfectly like a puzzle piece in its appropriate place.

"I saw you and All Might out at the beach last weekend," Asui said when school was back in session. "Was that woman your mother?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, that was my mom," he turned, startled by his classmate's lack of subtlety; he could never quite get used to her saying what was on her mind.

"What was she doing holding All Might's hand?"

"What?!"

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone,"

"O-ok,"

"You know, he was kind of acting like he was your dad,"

Before Izuku could answer, Tenya marched into the common room, where the green haired boy and Asui had been alone in, calling for a meeting. The meeting was about a class outing and suggestions were being thrown around. Izuku hardly heard anything, Asui's words echoing in his head. All Might was a mentor to him but since he had started dating his mom, he did start to become a fatherly presence in the house. After all, his own father was absent most of the time.

He had run off that day on his own, leaving both Inko and Yagi to recline on a towel on the sand and dipping their toes into the water. The two children that he had saved from the crab-man hybrid incident had recognized them and they insisted that they played together. The boy supposed that he was so caught up in building sand castles, he never stopped to think of the family dynamic. It had just felt so natural and easy to him that he didn't feel the need to stop and deeply ponder the feeling.

"Midoriya, what do you think?"

"Huh?" Izuku snapped his head back up, facing Tenya who had directed the question towards him.

"A cat cafe! It's near a mall and an arcade so afterwards, we can all have fun at either one we want before having dinner," Ochaco bounced up and down in her seat, clearly excited.

"Yeah, that sounds great!" Izuku grinned.

The class, aside from Katsuki, decided on meeting up that weekend. Izuku still went home but he went to meet up with his classmates anyways. He felt as if leaving his mother with Yagi alone would be alright though he hated the thought of what they would do when he was away. He also wanted to forget about the divorce for a while and just have fun being a teenager.

For the most part, everyone enjoyed the cat cafe where Tenya had called ahead to make a reservation for about two hours. Nobody was allergic to cats and they had a great time rolling around and playing with the furry creatures. They were pleasantly surprised to see their homeroom teacher and Eri there. The little girl giggled as two kittens clung to her dress as Aizawa-sensei just sat in a corner, stroking a group of cats in turn.

They soon waved good bye and departed since Eri had grown tired and needed a nap. The girls and Yuga headed to the shopping district where the blonde helped the girls pick an outfit. The boys eagerly ran to the arcade and Izuku had to teach Tenya how to play the games. When the time came that the class had agreed upon to regroup, they set out to a restuarant where the class representative had also made a reservation.

Izuku forgot about his problems as he played with the cats and instructed his friend on how to shoot zombies. Dinner was a spectacular affair since each student ordered a different dish then laid them out on the large table in a buffet style. Shouji used one of his extra appendages to take a selfie with the class of 1-A where everyone smiled or made goofy faces. Today, they were not classmates nor were they heroes in training. They were friends and the atmosphere of togetherness couldn't be more perfect. Except, it wasn't.

"Deku," Ochaco whispered, nudging the boy. "Don't panic but your mom and All Might just came in,"

"Let's have a toast!" Tenya stood up abruptly, his tall figure hiding the couple until they were seated at the opposite side of the establishment where they were out of sight. "Raise your glasses, class of 1-A!"

Everyone cheerily raised their glasses and spent five whole minutes clinking them with everyone else's cups present at the table. They chugged down their various beverages; some had ordered tea or soda whilst some just stuck to water. Izuku looked over at his friend with a look of relief, silently thanking him. Tenya smiled and nodded back.

When everyone was full and the check came, the students paid their fair share including a large tip. Ochaco led the group out of the restuarant whilst Tenya lingered in the back, making sure that no one saw Izuku's mother and All Might. For a while, the group chatted, drinking hot chocolate at a cafe to top off the fun day. Later, they lazily made their way back to the dorms or their respective homes until Denki hollered, pointing up the street.

"All Might!"

The class rushed over to their teacher and upon seeing the woman holding his hand, they introduced themselves.

"Oh my! Izuku really has good classmates but where's Kacchan?" Inko smiled.

Everyone but Izuku, Ochaco and Tenya exploded. They forgot about her question of Katsuki's whereabouts and there was an uproar. The class connected the dots and they all now knew that the woman was Izuku's mom!

"Your mom is so pretty!" Mina exclaimed.

"I see the resemblance," Asui commented.

"It's so very nice to meet you," Momo bowed.

"Your mom is hot!"

Eijii smacked Denki on the back of his head and made him apologise for the last remark. Inko laughed and forgave the boy, giving him a sweet smile. It was then that the class realised that Izuku's mother was holding hands with All Might! In truth, Inko and the former hero had seen the group at the restuarant and purposely asked for a table in the back to hide themselves. Izuku was hounded with questions until Yagi loudly cleared his throat.

"It's getting late," he said.

The class was suddenly aware of their weariness and bid one another a good night before parting ways. Izuku walked beside his mother and Yagi to the Midoriya household.

"I'm sorry," Inko gave an apologetic look.

"No, it's ok," the boy sighed. "They were going to find out sooner or later,"

"We asked for a booth in the back at the restuarant," Yagi said.

"Huh? Really? But why?"

"You were having so much fun with your friends!" Inko smiled. "We didn't want to get in the way,"

Izuku nodded and silently thanked the heavens. They were approaching the apartment complex they lived in when they noticed a car parked in front of the building which the boy recognized as his father's. Hisashi was leaning against his car, evidentally waiting for someone. When they were near, he jumped up and smiled.

"Izuku! How are you doing?" he asked. "And of course, you're All Might! My wife and I are big fans!"

Izuku cringed at the words 'my wife' which clearly implied that his father had already married the other woman. The boy stopped in his tracks and looked up at Yagi. He had a grim look and his grip on Inko's hand tightened a little.

"What do you want, Hisashi?" she asked, frowning.

"I wanted to talk about custody," he answered.

"This late at night?"

Izuku's father coughed and looked down on the ground.

"I just want to see my son," he mumbled. "I'll be going overseas again soon but on the occassions that I return, I'd like for him to stay with me,"

"That is up to Izuku," Inko replied coldly.

The boy looked at his father then at his mother. What was he talking about? Was he even serious?

"No, I want mom and only mom," he firmly said.

"Ah, well, can't say that I've tried," Hisashi let out a nervous chuckle. "Hey, All Might, do you mind if I ask for an autograph? I've been a fan since-,"

"No," Yagi told the man firmly. "This isn't a game; don't use Izuku for your own selfish reasons. You've lost out on a good son and a wonderful woman. They are not your puppets to use as you please,"

Inko tugged on her boyfriend's sleeve and they headed towards the apartment complex. Izuku lingered behind for a bit, glaring at his father. His face was red and his hands were balled up into fists.

"I would love to yell at you," he said in a low but dangerous tone. "I would love to smash your car but I promised mom that I wouldn't so I'll just say this: stay away from me,"

Hisashi watched with his mouth wide open as his son quickly followed after Inko and Yagi. The woman was visibly shaken up as she held onto Izuku's hand. It wasn't until they entered the apartment that she said something.

"The nerve of that man!" she exclaimed angrily, throwing her shoes down after slipping them off. "I knew he changed for the worst but not this badly!"

Neither Yagi nor Izuku said anything and just looked at one another, worried. Inko carried on into the kitchen, ranting about her ex husband.

"He has no shame; acting like he wants custody of Izuku but he was just trying to use his own son to ask for an autograph!"

She practically slammed down the tea kettle onto the stove, aggresively turning the knob.

"Mom," Izuku put a hand on his mother's shoulder. "He's gone and that's it,"

"Don't worry about him," Yagi gently added.

"I'm just so mad that he would go as far as using our son for his own selfish reasons," the woman sighed. "I hate him,"

Yagi shooed Inko into the living room, saying that he would take care of the tea. Izuku followed his mother and leaned next to her on the couch. Silent tears rolled fown the woman's face and the boy reached up to wipe them away. They were both quiet and stayed that way until Yagi brought in a tray of tea. They had a habit of having tea together every night before going off to bed. It was something that they all enjoyed.

All three were silent until Inko asked Izuku about his day. She smiled and laughed at her son's recounting of his outing with his friends. Yagi suggested that he take the woman to the cat cafe for a date which made the boy plug his ears. This made all three of them laugh and it seemed that things had calmed down but when Izuku went off to bed, his mother sobbed into her boyfriend's shirt.

...

"I'm back!"

Yagi turned the key to his girlfriend's house; they had exchanged keys recently but he mostly came to the Midoriya household. Izuku was back at U.A. for the week and after teaching classes, the blonde man decided to pick up some groceries for Inko.

"Toshi-kun!" the green haired woman smiled and gave Yagi a quick kiss on the lips. "I just put a tray of cookies in the oven. Oh, you didn't have to pick up more groceries,"

"I noticed you were running low on a few things and you seem to be preoccupied as of late," Yagi replied as he began restocking the fridge.

Since the incident with Hisashi the week before, Inko had been baking almost nonstop. Although her baked goods were delicious, Yagi was worried about her. He had started to stop her after a certain time and aired out the kitchen, which was humid from the oven being on all day. Before he went to sleep next to Inko, he packed the various sweets that she had made that day into some containers, knowing that she would ask him to take some to Izuku.

When the boy returned for the weekend after encountering his father, he was delighted to be greeted by a sweet smell wafting from the kitchen. He had been passed some cookies and cakes though his teacher but didn't grasp the situation until seeing it for himself. Instead of saying anything about it, he asked about recipes for Sato, who had requested them after Izuku shared the treats with his classmates. He knew that his mother would talk about her troubles on her own and if it got really bad, at the very least, Yagi would be there when he wasn't.

"So how many cups of flour?" Izuku asked, a notepad and pen in his hands. "Wait, that much butter?! That's a lot!"

Yagi watched as the boy feverishly wrote down the recipes whilst they waited for the pie she had prepared to finish baking. He sighed in relief; Inko was sitting down, which she barely did due to constantly checking the oven whilst preparing another treat at the same time. After Yagi shooed her off to bed later that night, he and Izuku both got to work, airing out the kitchen and packing away the day's baked products.

"I'm worried about your mother," Yagi sighed as he opened a window.

"Has she talked about him?" Izuku avoided using the word 'dad'.

"No and I don't want to force her but this is getting out of hand,"

"Yeah, we've gotta do something,"

It seemed that all the boy did was think of what to do to make his mother feel better. In reality, he did his schoolwork and studied as he usually did but once he put his pen down, Izuku felt the full weight of the situation fall onto his shoulders again.

"Fuck!"

Izuku jumped and saw Katsuki at the fridge; a pile of containers had tumbled out onto his feet. The amount of sweets that his mother was passing onto him was beginning to flood the fridge. He certainly couldn't eat it all by himself so he shared them with his classmates. They had a system in which every student had their own bin and whatever they bought went into the respective bins. However, shared foods weren't put in bins and were put on other shelves but even with the vast amount of space, the situation was getting out of control.

"It's like a goddamn bakery in here," Katsuki scowled as he carefully put the containers back. "You're lucky that you're mom's a good cook or I'd beat your ass, Deku,"

"Why would you fight me over that?" Izuku asked, puzzled.

"If it were terrible food, it would stink up the fridge and needlessly take up space,"

Katsuki took a container full of cookies and sat on the couch, turning on the TV. Ochaco walked in and nabbed a few from the blonde before sitting at the table across from her friend.

"Ish sho good!" she stuffed her mouth with more cookies.

"Uraraka, please don't talk with your mouth full," Tenya had followed her into the common room.

He himself had taken a liking to the sweets but had begun to carry a small dental care kit with him everywhere. Taking out a container with cheesecake in it, which he had thoroughly enjoyed since he had first tasted Inko's cooking. The boy took out a small knife from one of the kitchen drawers and sliced it into pieces for himself and his peers.

"Bakugo, would you like some cheesecake?" Tenya called over to the blonde.

"Yeah, sure," Katsuki answered.

The blonde preferred spicy foods but the cookies, cakes, pies and anything else that Inko had baked was too delicious to turn down. He thanked the tall boy as he accepted the plate of cookies and continued to watch TV.

"I'm getting worried about my mom," Izuku looked down at the slice of cake in front of him. "I mean, I love her cooking but this is starting to get out of hand,"

"Yeah, the fridge is starting to get really full," Ochaco nodded.

"It seems to be a coping skill but that can only go so far if the root problem isn't confronted," Tenya said.

"I don't want to force her but it's been about three weeks with the nonstop baking," the green haired boy sighed. "I'm gonna have to talk to her about it,"

"She should sell these," Katsuki unexpectedly shouted over from the couch. "Your mom could make a killing,"

"That still doesn't fix whatever she's going through," Tenya replied.

"Who cares? These cookies are the shit,"

"Well, tomorrow is Friday, so after class, I'm going home and I'll talk to her about it," Izuku turned to his cake.

Later that night, the boy recieved a text from Yagi, telling him to meet with him. Checking the time, Izuku saw that there was an hour left until curfew so he threw on a hoodie to go meet up with him. During the week, they had started meeting in the teacher's lounge, not being able to go to the beach they usually went to. It wasn't practical to leave the school grounds at night so Principal Nezu allowed them to use the lounge.

"We have to do something about your mother," Yagi skipped the greetings and held up a bag full of containers of more cookies. "This is getting out of hand,"

"I know I shouldn't say this but he's such an ass," Izuku pouted, still refusing to use the word 'dad'.

"She's still upset that he tried to use you to get to me,"

"But it's been three weeks now; how do we get her to stop?"

The boy was met with silence as the two searched their brains for a way to end the frantic baking. Izuku looked into the bag and saw labels for the different types of cookies on each container.

"I'll be going home tomorrow after class," he slowly said. "We can talk to her then,"

"That seems like a good idea; to have both of us talk to her,"

The next day, Ochaco and Tenya reassured their friend that everything would be fine as they saw him off. Without a doubt, Izuku was nervous but determined. He walked home with Yagi and neither said anything until they entered the apartment.

"Toshi-kun! Izuku!"

They were greeted by Inko and the warm smell of peaches. She quickly explained that she was making peach cobbler as she wiped her hands on her apron. At this, Izuku decided to not waste any more time.

"Mom, we love your cooking," he sighed. "We really do and all my friends love them but this is getting out of hand,"

"What are you talking about?" his mother cracked open the oven door, checking on the cobbler.

"We're talking about all this baking," Yagi chimed in. "We understand that you're going through a hard time but it's time that you face your problems,"

Inko didn't say anything as she pulled the baked dish out of the oven. She slowly set it on the counter and took off her oven mitts one by one, placing it next to the tray.

"Hisashi has no business with Izuku," she said in a low voice but it grew louder. "He did nothing! He didn't raise him! He wasn't even there for his first steps or his first words. Sure, I sent him pictures and videos but he wasn't there! Masaru turned down his overseas job and got to watch Katsuki grow up but no, Hisashi went anyways. Did you know that he wasn't even there for your birth?"

Inko turned around, tears streaming down her face. Izuku's heart crumbled at the sight of his mother breaking down and hearing how little his father had to do with his upbringing.

"I had to give birth to you without my husband by my side! I'm the one who named you, bathed you, fed you and I don't care if he was the one paying for more than half of what we had. Our son is precious and he couldn't even be bothered to see him. You were afraid of him when you first met him because you'd never seen him before!"

"And that's why I love you mom," Izuku hugged his mother. "At least you got to watch me grow taller than you, right?"

"Yeah," Inko smiled but the tears didn't stop.

"If he wasn't there for my childhood then I'm pretty sure I'll be fine with him not being around for me now,"

"You've cared for your son and you still care for him but you're not alone," Yagi placed a hand on the woman's shoulder. "That's all that matters, right?"

"I'm so lucky to have you both!"

Inko pulled them both into a group hug, sobbing but this time with tears of joy. When she stepped back, the woman sighed as she looked at the freshly baked cobbler sitting on the counter.

"I did go overboard, didn't I?" she chuckled. "But I really do love baking,"

Something clicked in the boy's head and he remembered something from the day before. He recalled that Katsuki had said that Inko should sell her baked goods. There was no doubt that it would be a hit.

"I have an idea!" Izuku exclaimed. "Why don't you open up a bakery? I remember Kacchan saying something like that!"

"What are you talking about?"

"Everyone loves your cookies and cakes and pies so why not work a job that you love doing?"

"That sounds like a great idea!" Yagi grinned.

"I don't know..."

"Come on mom! You could totally open up a great bakery and then sell some coffee so it'll be a nice cafe,"

"That sounds expensive,"

"I'll pay for the venue and help buy all the things you need," the blonde man offered. "We can co-own the store and we'll run it together,"

"No, I couldn't ask that of you!" Inko shook her head.

"I don't mind; I have a lot of money set aside from my hero days and I love you. Your happiness is important to me and to Izuku,"

He kissed the woman on the forehead which made Izuku cover his eyes and recite algebra problems out loud. Inko gently lowered the boy's arm and smiled at her son.

"Okay, let's do it,"

...

Izuku spent the first month of his summer break helping out with setting up the bakery. He carried in the various machines into the large kitchen that was built in the back, placing them in their appropriate places. Yagi was able to quickly grab a venue from an old couple who were selling their store because they were ready to retire. The walls were painted by all three of then and tables were carefully set up.

Inko played around with the coffee machine that she had purchased, creating different types of caffeinated beverages. With the help of Ochaco, she was able to pen out cute names for the menu as Tenya organized the supply room. They were just as eager to see the bakery take off.

"We need to come up with a name!" Ochaco said as she sipped on her iced tea through a straw. "It needs to be a cute name!"

They had taken a break from putting on the finishing touches and were eating lunch. Everyone racked their brains and began to suggest names.

"Gah! Why is coming up with a name so hard?" Izuku huffed.

"It's very important that we choose a name that is both appealing to potential customers and fitting to the environment," Tenya explained.

"It's like when Aizawa-sensei had us pick out hero names," Ochaco giggled.

"Hmmm," Inko hummed as she nibbled on her sandwich. "I think I've got it!"

Everyone turned to the woman, eager to hear her suggestion. Upon hearing it, they all grinned and nodded.

The grand opening attracted many people. The whole class of 1-A, including Katsuki, were there amongst some paparazzi who had heard about the former number one pro hero All Might, co-owning a bakery. The students made sure to keep them from swarming their teacher by forming a human wall. They let in curious patrons but didn't budge if a cameraman or a news reporter got too close. Kaminari began to discreetly pick off the equipment with his quirk and Jiro 'accidentally' let out a sonic boom, cracking camera lenses and halting microphones from working.

"I'm still a student, so please forgive me for not being able to fully control my quirk," she innocently said as the rest of the class did their best to hold back their laughter.

Finally, Izuku and Tenya reached up on either side in front of the store, releasing an awning over their heads. The name was revealed on a flat emerald green background in a fancy pink script font. Proudly, it bore the name 'Toshi & Mama'. Inko had thought it was a bit cheesy but went with it when she was assured that it was a great name. Her cheeks grew red when a round of applause erupted, smiling wide.

"That's such a warm and loving name!" Ochaco cooed.

"It does sound very inviting," Tenya smiled.

Sato came out, laying out trays of samples for the grand opening. He had decided to spend his summer working for the older Midoriya and would even get credit for it at school since his quirk was based on sugar consumption. Yagi looked around at his students, chatting happily and buying pastries instead of taking the samples so that they could support the establishment. He reached into his pocket, his hands shaking. Izuku looked up at him and smiled, nudging him on.

"Sato, please man the cash register for me," he whispered to his student.

He walked over to Inko and hugged her before taking a box out of his pocket. She looked at him, curious of the box and then blushed profusely when the blonde man knelt down on one knee. It took a while for the class of 1-A to stop hollering in excitement at the sight.

"Inko, you make me very happy," Yagi said, his hands trembling. "I thought I was a broken man after being forced into retirement but you came along and fixed me. I want to be by your loving side every single day so that every time I break, you can fix me and if you ever feel sad and lonely, I want to be the one to comfort you,"

"Toshi-kun..." Inko's face turned into a crimson red.

"Inko, will you marry me?"

Everyone around them held their breaths, waiting for the answer. It seemed to be a disappointment when tears welled up in Inko's eyes but all were soon pleased with her reply. They were tears of joy, not sorrow.

"Yes!"

Everyone around them cheered and some of the reporters could be seen recording and taking pictures of the couple with their phones despite the cracked screens, due to their equipment being broken. The class stood firmly and closer to one another to avoid the press from getting too close to the newly engaged couple as they whooped and cheered in celebration. However, everything around Yagi and Inko didn't matter; they only saw each other. They spotted Izuku running up to them, not even cringing at the sight of his mother kissing his mentor. Grinning through tears like his mother, he hugged them both.

The girls admired the engagement ring on Inko's left hand. It was a simple band with a small diamond on it but it was still very pretty. Remembering that Inko wasn't a fan of big jewelry, Yagi had specifically picked one out to her taste. The woman held out her hand to look at the ring, her eyes sparkling.

"I'm so happy that I have my boys with me," Inko wiped away her tears.

"Oh, oh!" Ochaco jumped up and down. "Let us girls plan the wedding! You'll be busy working so we can take care of that for you!"

The other girls nodded in agreement and after much convincing, Inko relented. All she really cared about was that she would be marrying a man she loved dearly. A man who would never abandon her and would stand by her side. She reached up and kissed her new fiance.

"I love you, Toshi-kun,"

"I love you too, Inko,"
