BIG NATE: A TYPICAL WRIGHT DAY
WILL NATE WRIGHT HAVE A GOOD DAY…OR A BAD ONE?
Disclaimer: I am writing this for . Please do not go yonkers on me. Let's begin.
Beep…beep…beep… rang the alarm clock belonging to Nate Wright. His father, Marty Wright, stood beside him.
"Huh? What…MY ALARM CLOCK!" Nate yelled.
He looked at his father.
"Dad, you know I hate alarm clocks. Why did you reset it?"
"I didn't. Your friend did."
"Huh? Teddy? Chad? Dee Dee? Artur?"
"Francis."
"FRANCIS?"
"Yep."
Nate was angry at Francis. He'd have to give him a noogie later. He got up and attempted to eat cheez doodles. For breakfast.
"No way, Jose." Marty said at the sight of Nate.
"Dadddd…you know that I like cheez doodles. Besides, what am I going to eat for breakfast?"
"Fruit salad."
Nate groaned. Marty had a reputation of making his kids eat healthy foods, but he was sort of a hypocrite.
"Oh, Dad, may I get school lunch?"
"Why?"
"Because…I don't eat the food you make me."
"Well, it would take less time to get ready…OK."
"YES!"
"What're you two jabbering about?" said Ellen, Nate's annoying sister.
"Ellen, why are you interrupting my conversation? My dad just let me eat school lunch!" Nate replied.
"Cool. For someone who can barely spell my name."
"I HAVE A HIGHER IQ THAN YOU!"
"Don't remind me."
"Stop bickering! Just go! And Nate…" Marty started to say. Nate turned around. "Try your hardest not to get a detention today. I will make you a one time offer: it only works for today. If you do not get a detention today and are home by 3:10, you will get $5."
"What's the catch?" Nate asked.
"You have to be home for 2 minutes for the deal to count. So, if you have friends you want to hang out with, tell them they have to wait for 2 minutes." "DEAL!" Nate said. Then he headed off to his school, P.S(Public School) 38.
Nate met with Teddy.
"Teddy! Do you know what Francis did?" Nate asked.
"No."
"He put my alarm clock on!"
Teddy snickered.
"Hardy har har. Look, today I do not want to get a detention."
Teddy started mimicking news. "Today on Teddy News, a boy's goals get crushed by Mrs. Godfrey! Later today, Artur and Jenny will do to the movies on a date!"
"Teddy, you know that I know Jenny hates me. Plus, there's an incentive."
"Oh, sure. Next thing you'll be saying you got an autograph from David Ortiz."
"Enough with the jokes. My father will give me five dollars if I succeed."
"So?"
"I have $300. I bet 5 will cover the tax."
"Are you…trying to buy a Switch?"
"I've been saving up for a while."
"So… a Nintendo Switch will come down to…$318. How will you get $13?"
"I will ask Chad."
"Sure. That'll definitely work." Teddy said, rolling his eyes.
They walked for a little bit. When they got 50 feet within P.S 38, Nate said, "Wait here."
Teddy said, "Sure."
Nate ran inside the school. After about 5 minutes, Teddy heard someone say, "Hey!", then he saw Nate run outside into a bush. Francis stormed out.
"Why'd he noogie me?" Francis asked, referring to Nate.
"I believe it had something to do with an alarm clock."
"Well, he needs to get up earlier. He's always falling asleep in school. Where is he?"
"He may be in that bush, but he may be smart enough to run while we were talking."
"Actually, he may be."
"I'm joking! He's so dumb!"
"Actually, he's not. He has a higher IQ than his sister. He just doesn't put his brain to work."
"What's Nate's IQ?"
"How the heck should I know?"
RRIINNGG "10 minutes to class. Let's get our stuff ready." Francis said.
That's Chapter One. Please review. There will be more to come.
