Metropolis 9:57 PM
The night is pitch black with only the stars and lights from buildings to create a brightest night. In the center of Metropolis was the tall, black building of LexCo. The tower is abandoned with little security. This is the reason why, somewhere on one of the top floors, two men break in the building for a hidden artifact with near-infinite power. One of the two was 6'3" and wore a blue uniform that had a red-and-yellow symbol with a giant "S." The man had a bandage with blood stains hidden under a mop of raven hair. One of his sleeves had been ripped off, revealing neon green veins practically popping off his arm. The other man was 6'2" and wore black and grey. On his chestplate was a bat shaped symbol and his head was covered in a bat cowl but his symbol had been scratched and revealed a hidden layer of body armor. Both of his arms were sleeveless but his left arm was bandaged with blood while his right arm was 100% bionic. He had a utility belt with bat-shaped boomerangs, dual pistols, a technologiacal ray, and many more gadgets. He also had a pulsar rifle attached to his back.
The due quietly hurried to a giant metal door. Next to the door was a lockpad. The Bat had pulled out a small device from his belt which had hacked the lockpad and opened the door. After making it past the hatch, the two characters ran into another door, this time locked by a laser grid and nearby was a computer. The Bat logged onto the computer and shut down the laser grid. The Bat then said, "Come on, Clark. Help me open this door." The man apparently named Clark did as he was told and attempted to break in with the help of his friend's bionic arm. Their combined might made a loud screeching noise. "Way to be stealthy, Bruce." Clark sarcastically joked. "Enough with the jokes." Bruce replies. "The moment I shut off the laser grid, it sent off a silent alarm. They're already on their way here." A a few seconds later, the door is literally ripped off the wall and inside the once-locked room is a collection of locked artifacts but the one in the center has what the duo a searching for. As the two enter the room, Clark tells himself, "Come on, heat vision. Don't fail me now." Suddenly, his eyes burn a bright red and two beams of heat with the same color emerge from the eyes and melts a hole in the center safe.
Bruce grabs what is inside which is a mechanical capsule that could fit in the palm of your hand. From the inside of the capsule, a sky blue light shines out. "The Quantum Trigger." Brice says. He looks at Clark and says, "With this, we now have a chance." In the moment Bruce inserts the quantum trigger in his utility belt, a loud siren goes off alongside multiple red lights. The duo hurry to the computer to check the security cameras, multiple live recordings are shown but the one which stands the most is the one revealing a woman of fur, a robot with a glowing-green center, and a dark green figure dashing in the shadows, hiding their identities. With that, Clark yells, "Run!"
The duo run down a hallway with blazing red lights. As they run, the doors close behind them and their pursuers follow behind, blasting the locked doors off. Eventually, the two make it to a space in the hallway with a vent on the ground. Clark turns 180 degrees uses his heat vision to melt the last door they went through shut together. Bruce opens the vent and Clark says "That's not going to slow them down for long." before juming in the ground. Before following, Bruce notices the door is being blasted apart. "That's not going to slow them down at all." he says as he follows his friend and closes the vent. As soon as the vent is closed, the door explodes and the trio of mysterious figures dash past the vent, thinking the two intruders continued straight.
After losing their pursuers, Clark and Bruce find themselves in a lower level with giant, wide pipes. Bruce pulls out the technological ray mentioned earlier. He presses some buttons on the device butit just short circuits. "Come on, come on!" Bruce quietly yells. "Work, d*mn it!" Clark tries to calm Bruce down. "Bruce, stop! It's not working! We need to get out of here before the villains realize they've been deceived." "Give me a second, Clark!" Bruce respond as he removes part of the ray and moves a few wires and circuits to different places. "Alright. I was able to accelerate the A.U.T.D.'s self-repairing system so it should work within a few minutes."
At that moment, distant footsteps could be heard from the upper floor. The chasers were back! "Shoot!" Clark yells. "We have to get out now!" Bruce declines and says, "No, Clark, you have to get out of here. I'm staying behind."
"WHAT!? NO WAY!! WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO GET HELP! THE OTHER JUSTICE LEAGUE WON'T BELIEVE ME ALONE! "
"If I go with you, Clark, we'll have a greater chance on being caught. I can distract them long enough for you to escape."
"THEN YOU GO, BRUCE! I CAN STAY BEHIND AND SLOW THEM DOWN!"
"There a two reasons why it must be me, Clark. One, I have a contingency plan to prevent you from getting caught. Two, you still have a family to go to after this. You have two supporting parents, an older cousin, a loving wife, and an infant son that needs a father. Me, I have nobody. Everyone I have ever known and loved have died due to evil. Jim, Barbara, Tim, Jason, Dick, Alfred..." A tear falls off of Bruce's eye before he finishes his sentence. The footsteps are much louder now."...my mom and dad." Bruce moves his wrist to his eye to wipe of the trailing tear. "I have nothing to lose if I die right here, right now. You... you'd lose everything. I'm staying, Clark and there's nothing you can do about it!" Clark is touched by Bruce's words and walks closer to him. "Bruce..." He instantly hugs his friend. "...thank you." Bruce has a perplexed look on his face until it changes into a grin and returns the affection.
The two then keep to each other. Clark says," I am not going to lie, I wasn't expecting the returning hug." Bruce gives the A.U.T.D. and Quantum Trigger to his friend and pulls out his pulsar rifle. "You remember the Earth you need to travel to, right?" His ally nods in response and Bruce pulls his pulsar rifle out. "Then get out now! If my calculations are correct, the ray should be able to work once you're outside. By then, my plan will have been in affect. Now go!" Clark opens a nearby hatch and says, "Until the next lifetime, Bruce" then continues his escape.
"Until then." Bruce says. He aims his rifle in the direction in front of his body. Suddenly, the ceiling of the floor he's on is destroyed by the pursuers (a woman of fur, a robot with a green center, and a dark green figure). Bruce says, "Cheetah, Metallo, and Malefic. Nice to see that you're all Luthor's puppets now." "Enough, Dark Knight!" Malefic yells. "We know what you've stolen from us and that the Kryptonian is in possession of it. If your cowl wasn't made out of an alternate dimension's material that blocks out my telepathy, I would know where your friend is so I propose a deal: Tell us the location of Superman and the Quantum Trigger answer may spare your pathetic excuse for a life." Bruce, still aiming the rifle at his chasers says, "You'd kill me regardless of what I say and do." Malefic chuckles. "Yes, I suppose your inferior ape mind is correct. Well, if you won't participate, you'll just be our bait. Seize him."
Commander by their superior, Metallo and Cheetah run towards the bat, claws retracted from the female feline and arms-turned-to-chainsaws from the cyborg. The Dark Knight shoots the rifle at Cheetah, aimed at her chest, and births a bloody and heartless hole, killing her in the process. As for Metallo, his right arm is shot but gets close enough to swing the left arm at Batman. The man in black evades the hit in time and shoots this time at Metallo's head. The result is a giant metal body falling to the floor, smoke emerging from the neck and right shoulder. Unbeknownst to Bruce, Malefic shapeshifted his arm into a sharp blade and shoves it in the Dark Knight's gut. Malefic removes the arm as Bruce drops the rifle, coughs blood, and falls on the floor, still alive.
"Still alive?" Malefic asks the victim. "I'm impressed. When I did that to your lover, she was dead the moment he hit the floor. What was her name again? Diana! Princess Diana of Thymescira! Haha! I guess there was more fight in you than her." Malefic chuckles some more. Just reminding Bruce about the death of his wife made him pissed. "So I was going to keep you hostage but I suppose that I'll just leave you here to rot."
Still conscious, Bruce says, "Fine. Run off like the mouse you are but before you go..." The wounded man rips off the form piece of his uniform to reveal a silent bomb counting down with a few seconds left. "WHAT!?" Malefic yells in disbelief and frustration. "Originally, I was going to give you a running start." Bruce says. "But your surprise attack triggered to bomb early. Now, you'll see my contingency plan!" With that, the bomb goes off and kills Bruce and Malefic.
A few seconds earlier, Clark opens a sewer lid from the sewer system in which he escaped LexCo and finds himself in an abandoned alley in Metropolis, two streets North of the building. The moment he escaped the sewers, the top levels of LexCo behind him explodes and the Clark knew this was part of his friends plan. He mutters to himself and says, "It won't be in vain, old friend." A second later, a voice behind him yells, "Superman!" The reaction of the escapee looks at the direction of the voice and sees from left to right, a man in yellow tights, a clown in a purple suit, an armored bald man, a witch in Greek armor, and a red-skinned alien with a yellow ring. Superman walks a few steps away and, with his super hearing, hears the A.U.T.D. beep quietly which informs him that the device is functional again. Before he could use it, the bald man in the middle says, "You think that I'd just let you steal from my company, alien?! You're wrong! Because of the stunt your friend pulled, our plans are going to be held back. I promise that you'll pay for the delays." "I have a promie of my own, Luthor." Superman responds. "I'm going to finish what Batman started." Superman aims the A.U.T.D. at the five who get in fighting stance in response. The device emits a long and loud beep. "But not just yet," The alien finishes announcing his promise. He presses a button on the device, a strange noise and purple light generate from said device, and Superman disappears.
Confused, the man in yellow asks, "What the fu--? Where'd he go?" "I don't know, Thawn." Luthor answers. "But he won't hide forever. He may be dumb but he's no coward. He'll be back and when he returns, he'll die.
WHOO!! WHAT AN ADVENTURE! DID Y'ALL GUYS ENJOY!? I HOPE YOU DID BECAUSE I WANT TO CONTINUE THIS STORY! SO WHERE DO YOU THINK SUPERMAN WENT? WHO WILL HELP HIM END THE EVIL THAT HAS KILLED BRICE AND SO MANY OTHERS? YOU ALL WILL SEE IN TE NEXT CHAPTEE! PEACE!
P.S. I AM 100 PERCENT AWARE THAT METALLO IS A CYBORG, NOT A ROBOT. I ONLY CALLED HIM A ROBOT UNTIL HIS IDENTITY WAS REVEALED TO NOT MAKE PEOPLE IMAGINE SKIN SINCE SOME CYBORGS IN FICTION HAVE SKIN. ALSO, I AM STILL WORKING ON MY OTHER FANFICS, I JUST GOT BORED AND WAS BUSY WITH SCHOOL WORK.
