After watching The Mummy and reading Hotaru Shidosha's Embrace of the Sands, I couldn't resist giving a go with my own take on the story.
CHAPTER 1
Steady...Steady...FIRE!
A range of bullets rapidly flew across the flaming desert, heading towards the approaching enemy on the opposite end. One by one, the enemy's forces were dropping down dead on the soft hot sand, men and horses alike were sad victims to a gun's powerful blow. Beside his men shooting at the oncoming army was Gajeel Redfox, who took charge when the General abandoned his station and men. Shooting beside him was Sarusuke or Jet who was known amongst their group for his speed, who ran away from the fight. Eventually, Gajeel had no choice but to retreat to safety, however Jet sealed the entrance to the safety bunker preventing Gajeel entry. He quickly ran ducking and dodging bullets and knives directed at him, it was when Gajeel was in a corner where he had no choice but to use his final bullets. With his back to an statue, he braced for the number of bullets plummeting his body but none made contact. Instead was shouts from the men, and loud neighs from the horses they were riding on. Gajeel found himself alone in an hot dessert of all places, leaving him no choice Gajeel started to leave and walk back to civilisation.
1 Year Later
A blue haired woman, Levy Mcgarden hummed to herself as she put the library books back carefully, at least she was until she heard a loud noise in the other room. Curious, she decided to investigate silently hoping nothing had happened to the exhibitions. Another loud noise convinced her to pick up a nearby lit torch at the doorway. Levy silently walked forward and once she was standing next to open coffin, a skeleton had suddenly sat up causing her to jump back screaming. A familiar laugh echod throughout the room which earned a mix of rage and annoyance.
Levy: DROY, YOU JERK!?
She yelled angrily as the man known as Droy sat up laughing and wrapped his arm around the skeleton's shoulders.
Levy: Have you no respect for the dead?
Droy: Of course I do, but sometimes I'd rather like to join them.
Levy: Well I wish you would do it sooner rather than later, before you decide to ruin my career the way you did yours. Now get out.
Droy stumbled out of the coffin as his sister helped him out quickly before she could get into any trouble.
Droy: I'll have you know my career is on a high note.
Levy: High Note? Ha! I really don't have time for this, I've got work to be translated and the Magnolia Scholars have rejected my application form again. They say, I Don't Have Enough Experience On The Field.
She sat down on the base of a statue clearly upset, Droy walked towards her and crouched down to her eye level.
Droy: You'll Always Have Me Old Mom. Besides I've Just The Thing To Cheer You Up.
Levy rolled her eyes playfully, every time Droy returned he would bring an artifact to her to look at and sell, hoping it would lead to a great treasure or sell for a load of coins.
Levy: Oh No, not another worthless trinket. If I have to bring another piece of junk to the curator to try and... Sell..For..You.
Droy pulled out an old hexagon shaped iron box. It had hieratics and hieroglyphics encarved into its sides. The box itself looked like any ordinary puzzle box, Levy's eyes filled with curiosity and interest.
Levy: Where did you get this?
Droy: On a dig, down in Thebes.
Levy rolled the box about in her hands translating the box while she looked, Droy bit his lip in anticipation.
Droy: I've never found anything like this Levy. Tell me I've found something.
Levy's fingers explored the box. Then suddenly, it unfolded itself into a key. Inside the box was a folded papyrus, (thick paper in ancient times) an ancient map.
Levy: Droy?
Droy: Yes?
Levy: I think you found something.
Droy: Finally. Is there anything more you can tell me?
Levyopened the map and began to date the map, as she read she noticed a seal. But this wasn't just any seal, it was the seal of Acnologia. The Dragon King.
Droy: So?
Levy: From what I can tell, this map contains the way to Alvarez.
Droy: 2 questions? Who ruled Alvarez? And was they rich?
Levy: Acnologia the Dragon King, said to be the wealthiest king of them all.
Droy: I like this guy.
Levy: Where did you get this?
Droy stood up and nervously smiled, he knew his sister well enough that she could tell if he lied.
Droy: Well...
