Hello. This is my first story on here, so I'm still figuring out stuff. This is something to work on while I'm stuck at home because of the Coronavirus. The fic is about what if the fourth hokage sealed the nine-tailed fox in someone other than Naruto. Sakumo Aizawa. Feel free to let me know what you think of it.
Sakumo ran as fast as he could through the streets of Konoha. He was not going to miss the final exam again. He missed the final exams the previous two years, and they forced him to retake the classes, instead of making up the test. He could not afford to miss the test this time, however. Three times is the limit, and if he fails or misses this exam, he won't be allowed to take the test again. "Sakumo ran as fast as he could" might make you think that he had poor time management skills and was late, but he was actually a hour early. As Sakumo neared the final turn, he slid to a stop.
"Let's see if my old friends are here to greet me this morning," Sakumo thought as he peered around the corner, at the school's entrance. He scanned the front of the school for the usual suspects and spotted a group of four teenagers posted at the front doors. "There they are. I gotta admire how dedicated they are to being assholes."
Sakumo took a few seconds to infuse some chakra and send a clone their way. The clone walked toward them in an absent minded manner until they yelled at it to stop. It stopped, looked surprised to see the group, and when the group approached, it ran the opposite direction Sakumo came from. The whole group gave chase, and after about a minute, Sakumo approached the school feeling satisfied. As he got close to the school's front doors, a kunai lodged itself in the frame of the doors. Sakumo turned to find that the group had returned and gained a new member.
Sakumo was kicking himself mentally.
"I thought something was off," he thought to himself. "Toshinori, Shouta, Ikkaku, Roshi, and Ukita. That's all of them."
"That was a nice trick," Ikkaku said as he and the others approached. "If we weren't here, then you would definitely pass the final exams, but you didn't think your little rue would work though, did you?"
"Hope you don't think less of me, but I kinda thought I had you there, "Sakumo replied with a feigned look of bashfulness on his face.
"You're not gonna make us get rough with ya, right?" Toshinori asked.
"I hope you do," Ukita commented as he cracked his knuckles. "It's so early, I didn't have time to get my morning workout in."
"What's your problem with me anyway?" Sakumo asked. "Just because you all failed to become shinobi, doesn't mean I should. Why don't you all go bother someone else? Really, I did nothing to deserve this. Why me?"
"Why you?" Ikkaku said, his smirk disappearing. "You think you're better than us. I know you do. You think that because you're one of the top students in your class, you're something special. Well you're not. We were talented too. We could have been great shinobi, but no. Apparently, just because you can't do the clone jutsu, or memorise the shinobi code, or throw your shuriken a little to far to the left, or even pass the exam, but fail the stupid second test, then you can't become a ninja!"
"Ikkaku, calm down," Roshi said, putting a hand on Ikkaku's left shoulder to calm him. "You just got unlucky being assigned to that Kakashi asshole."
"Just a little bit closer," Sakumo thought as he inched his way backward, toward the doors.
Having calmed down, Ikkaku noticed what Sakumo was doing.
"Get him!"
Sakumo closed the distance to the doors and pulled them, but they wouldn't budge. As he turned to face his attackers, he pulled out and threw down his only smoke bomb. In the chaos Sakumo was able to get passed his assailants and ran away from the school. Ikkaka was the first to spot him fleeing.
"Ukita, Roshi, Toshinori!" Ikkaku called. "Go after him!"
The three caught sight of Sakumo and left in pursuit.
"Shouta," Ikkaku said, "you'll stay here with me in case he comes back. We only need to keep him away for about two hours and twenty minutes."
