Hey! This is the other blindfold challenge story I had in my head. I'm writing it in honor of Pauley Perrette's birthday which is today, March 27th. Please read AND review. Hope you all enjoy! Thanks!
Abby Sciuto was cleaning up in her lab one cool evening in March when Jimmy Palmer came in.
"Abby, there's something you need to see. Come with me." he told her.
"What is it Jimmy?" Abby inquired.
"I can't tell you, I have to show you." Palmer explained.
"Ok. Fine. Just give me a couple of minutes to finish up here." Abby agreed.
Once she had everything shut down, she turned back to her friend. "Ok. I'm ready now."
"Great! Here you go!" Palmer stated, gleefully handing his friend a bandana.
Abby shot the man a confused look and asked, "Um Jimmy? What is this for?"
"You're supposed to put it on. Make sure you can't see out of it. That would ruin the surprise." Jimmy informed the Goth.
"What's going on Jimmy? Why do I have to put this thing on? Where are you taking me?" Abby demanded.
"I told you, it's a surprise. Come on Abby, please?" Jimmy repeated.
"Oh, Ok. Just don't run me into stuff." Abby reluctantly responded. She hated not being in control.
Palmer helped her tie on the bandana and asked, "Can you see?"
Abby sighed. "No, Jimmy, I promise I can't see a thing."
Palmer then took her hand and ordered, "Ok. Come on this way then."
It was going just fine for a few moments until Abby felt herself slam into something hard.
"OW! Jimmy! I told you NOT to run me into stuff!" Abby exclaimed.
"Sorry!" Palmer apologized sheepishly, before pulling her forward a little further. This time Abby tripped over a raised spot in the floor.
"JIMMY!" She chastised him loudly.
"Sorry!" the ME assistant repeated.
"Palmer, what's taking you guys so long?" another voice demanded.
"McGee? What's going on, you guys? Can I take this off now? I'm gonna be all bruised before we reach wherever we're going." Abby insisted.
"Alright, Palmer. You're off duty now. I'll lead her the rest of the way." McGee stated, taking Abby's hand in his own.
"Thanks, McGee." Abby replied, relieved. She found herself being led into the elevator and heard the doors close. A few seconds later she felt the elevator stop and the doors opened.
As she stepped of the elevator she felt her blindfold being removed and heard the entire team and Ducky and Palmer yell, "Surprise!" They were in the Evidence Garage, Abby observed. The woman broke into a big grin as Gibbs pulled her into a hug first.
"Happy Birthday, Abs." He murmured softly. Abby heard a high pitched staccato sound as she was hugged in turn by all the others.
She smiled as she saw a bakery cake which was adorned with skulls and crossbones and science beakers. In red icing it read, "Happy Birthday, Abby. We love you."
"You guys! This is the sweetest! You guys are the best!" Abby declared gratefully. Then she heard the sound again.
"What is that barking sound?" She inquired.
Ducky came forward with a wriggling bundle in his arms. "That, my dear. Is your new companion."
He dropped the bundle into his friend's arms and Abby gasped. "AWWW! A puppy! It's adorable! It's mine?"
"Absolutely. It's your birthday present. We know your landlord's wife got the apartment building in the divorce settlement, and we thought you and this little lady belonged together." Palmer assured her with a grin.
"Yeah. Ziva found her all alone and abandoned outside NCIS. We all agreed that you were just the person for her to belong to." Tony added.
"Awww. Thanks Ziva. It's a girl, then. In that case I have the perfect name for her. Janie." was Abby's response.
"Janie?" McGee questioned.
"Yeah. After Jane Goodall." Abby explained.
"Then it's the perfect name, Abs." Gibbs affirmed.
"Thanks." was Abby's response.
"Alright, Time to cut the cake!" Tony announced. Abby cuddled her puppy one more time and then set her down while she got the cake. Ziva brought out some dog food for Janie.
While everyone was enjoying the party, Ziva leaned over to Abby and uttered, "Happy Birthday Abby."
Abby hugged her friend and replied, "Thanks, Ziva. I think this is my best birthday ever."
Turning to the others, she spoke up louder, saying, "Thank you all. You guys are the best chosen family I could ask for. I love you all." They all responded in kind and enjoyed playing with Janie and eating and talking and just being together and celebrating life.
Well, there you have it folks. Thanks for reading and Happy Birthday, Pauley Perrette! To Guest known as AbbyFan:I fixed the job title mistake in the discription. I could have sworn that Abby was referred to as Forensics Specialist in one of the episodes. Thanks for your help. Bye!
