A/N: Hey all, I hope you are fine. It's been a while since I've posted anything on this site. School has been crazy.

Here's a little something I started working on sometime last year.

The day starts out like any other. He goes to class and then he makes his way to Big Mike's Coffee Shop where he works part-time.

"Man, I'm really gonna screw up my practical." Morgan, his co-worker and best friend grumbles to Chuck while he is taking an order. "I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to make the soufflé. You know that making a soufflé is an art, right?" Morgan groans.

"You won't, you always say that, and you pass with a good mark." Chuck chuckles and soothes his friend. "Besides, you've been practicing really often. By the time the practical comes around I'm sure you'll have all your recipes perfected."

"Ah but Chuck! That's the thing. Cooking is all about the process. I can be innovative. What if I just stick to my recipes and my professor isn't impressed. What if she thinks that I only follow the recipes and that I don't have a passion for food? Oh my gosh why did I choose French Cuisine when my professor is French! She's gonna have some high standards!" Morgan continues to ramble. He paces up and down behind the counter. "Do you think it's too late to switch? I don't know man...maybe I should do Italian or Mexican? Mediterranean? Oh, I know, Caribbean! Yes, yes. I think I need to switch."

"Morgan, calm down. You're rambling and that's my thing. The trademark is pending," he says, causing the bearded fellow to laugh. "I believe in you. You have what it takes to be a chef."

"Aw, thanks man!" Morgan smiles and gives Chuck a quick side hug.

"Anytime Morgan!"

The bell rings and in saunters a red head. She's one of their regular customers and she's an absolute firecracker.

"Hey Martin, Chuck," Carina greets them in turn.

"Carina," Morgan says her name reverently and Chuck shakes his head at his friend, quite amused at how he's so star struck over Carina. Carina knows his name is Morgan of course, hell he even wears a name tag, but this has become their thing, the two secretly enjoying the banter between them. Chuck wonders when or rather if Morgan will ever ask her out.

"Chuck and Morgan make the best coffees ever," Carina turns to her friend. "And Big Mike, the owner, basically gives Morgan free rein with the wraps and sandwiches they offer. You have to try one!" Chuck finds his gaze transfixed on the blonde accompanying Carina.

"I didn't know people still named their children 'Chuck'" the blonde says, flashing a small smile at Chuck.

The smile seems to stupefy him, and he just stares in wonder at her. Her eyes are the most beautiful shade of blue that he's ever seen. And her skin looks so smooth and soft. And her face, gosh is she beautiful.

Morgan, ever the dutiful wingman, begins to speak so that it doesn't become awkward-well too awkward. "Well his parents were sadist," he quips.

"And carnival freaks found him in a dumpster," Chuck has finally managed to collect himself.

"But they raised me as one of their own."

The best friends share a laugh and then Chuck turns back to his customers, his eyes constantly on Sarah and he hopes it doesn't make him seem creepy. That's the last thing he'd want.

"So, what can we get you ladies today?"

"You should know how to please me by now," Carina says to Morgan with a wink. Next to her, Sarah groans but Carina simply hip bumps her before returning her attention to Morgan whose face is turning pink. "I'll take my Wednesday usual," Carina responds, letting Morgan off the hook.

"Ah, one Affogato coming right up."

"And gimme a couple extra doses of liqueur today yeah?"

"Carina!" The blonde exclaims with a shake of the head.

"What?" she shrugs. "It's happy hour somewhere in the world and I need it after being in that godforsaken class for two hours."

"Ouch, that bad?" Morgan asks sympathetically.

"It was such a bitch. I swear my professor just makes things more complicated than they need to be," Carina pouts. She purses her lips and looks at the menu, "oh and ummm a slice of hot fudge to go with it."

Her friend rolls her eyes. "Affogato is already a dessert. Do you really need cake too?"

"Oh, come on Sar, let me live a little!" Carina all but whines.

"Fine!" She relents, "But I'm telling Zondra. You know she's gonna add an extra mile or two on our run tomorrow."

"Sar, have you seen this body. I don't need extra miles on our run!"

There are no other customers waiting behind them and Chuck simply rocks back on his heels, enjoying the banter between the two friends.

Carina turns to Morgan who's making her Affogato and bats her eyelashes. "Wouldn't you agree?"

The utensil in his hand clatters to the counter as Morgan simply nods dumbly. "Is she always like that with poor Morgan?" Sarah asks Chuck.

He laughs, glancing at Morgan who has finally regained his senses and is finishing up Carina's order. "Most of the time," he confirms. "Soooooo, what can I get you -" He lets the sentence hang, hoping that she'd tell him her name.

"Sarah."

"Sarah," Chuck repeats, liking the feel of her name on her lips. He'd assumed from her nickname that that was it, but he just wanted to be sure. "It's a beautiful name...it suits you."

"Thank you, Chuck," Sarah blushes under his gaze. She looks at the overhead menu and ponders. "I think I'll just have a black coffee."

Chuck nods and begins ringing it up into the register.

"Oh, and um, with a little cream and one spoon of sugar," Sarah adds hesitantly. She looks down briefly before gazing questioningly at Chuck. "You must think that's the most boring thing I could have chosen from your extensive menu."

"I have this family friend who takes his coffee black and bitter so I'm not judging," Chuck smiles kindly. "But who knows, maybe the next time you tag along with Carina, you can try something new, something a little more...adventurous."

Sarah smiles as she hands him the money for both hers and Carina's orders. "I'll take you up on that soon Chuck."

The rest of the week rolls on by. Chuck goes to his classes and Morgan continues preparing for his practicals. During his shifts at the coffee shop, Chuck finds himself thinking about her often. Sarah. Well, if he's being honest with himself, he doesn't just think about her at work. He thinks about her as he's walking around campus, hoping to see her, even if it's when she's rushing to class and doesn't have time for anything but a quick 'hi'. He thinks about her when he's in the library, hoping he'd happen to see her holed up in a corner somewhere with a stack of books. Simply put, he thinks about her a lot.

Carina has come in three times since last Wednesday, once with a brunette. From the brief conversation he had with the two women, he learned that the brunette was Zondra- the person Sarah had mentioned as being in charge of their workout sessions last week. She's a Physical Education and Sports major and Chuck thinks it makes sense that she'd encourage her friends to be active.

When Wednesday rolls around, Chuck finds himself antsy in class. He flicks his pen on the desk, the noise causing some of his classmates to send annoyed looks his way. He smiles apologetically and stills his movements, trying his best to concentrate in class. Somehow, he manages to suffer through the class and as soon as his professor finishes informing them of their readings for class next week, he gets up from his seat and basically rushes from the room. By the time he arrives at the coffee shop, Morgan is already at the counter working on some orders. He slips into the back and secures his belongings in his assigned locker before donning his apron and heading back out front. Since he's arrived, Skip, their other co-worker who works the shift before Chuck takes his leave, telling them he'd see them tomorrow.

"Hey Morgan, how was class?" Chuck asks as he settles in, checking and refilling containers of supplies as need be.

"Good, good," Morgan nods. "What about you? You got here pretty fast. What? You had no burning questions to ask Professor Stein after the lecture?"

Chuck laughs nervously and scratches the back of his head. "Ah, um, class was fine. I learned a lot."

"You okay Chuck?" Morgan looks at him with concern.

He rocks back on his heels, clasping his hands behind him. "Mhmm, yeah, yeah. I'm fine. Just peachy actually. Great!"

Morgan hums. "Ah, I get it. It's Wednesday...Are you hoping that a certain red headed customer will bring her blonde friend with her?"

Chuck tries to look nonchalant. "Pftt, what?"

"That's it, isn't it! You're hoping to see Sarah today. That's why you rushed over here so soon after class!"

"Morgan," Chuck's reply is cut off when a customer comes up to make his order. Chuck rings it up and takes the payment while Morgan makes their beverage. When the customer leaves the counter, opting to sit inside at one of the tables in a corner, Morgan turns to Chuck again.

"Hey, is that a new shirt? And did you do something with your hair? Dude! You've got it bad for Sarah, don't you?"

Chuck laughs nervously. The shirt isn't new. It's just one that he hasn't worn in a while and he happened to feel like wearing it today. And all he'd done with his hair was to wash it this morning and that had made the curls more pronounced. He wondered if Sarah liked guys with curly hair or if she preferred them with straight slicked black hair.

"You really have gone all out huh?"

"Gone all out for who?"

"Carina!" Chuck almost yelps. "Um, how long have you been standing there?" He wonders how he hadn't heard her come in.

"Mhmm, not that long," Carina smiles, tucking her some hair behind her ear.

Chuck breathes in relief, glad that Carina hadn't heard what Morgan had said about him having it bad for Sarah.

"Will you be having your regular today," Morgan asks Carina with a sweet smile.

"Mhmm. Class wasn't half bad today but yes."

Morgan gets to work on her order and Carina moves down the counter so that they can continue talking as he does so. She tells him why class wasn't half bad and he in turn tells her about how his day had been. Meanwhile, Chuck keeps glancing at the door, hoping to see Sarah pass through them at any moment. But all too soon Morgan hands Carina her drink and she tells them she'll see them later before leaving. When the door closes behind her, Chuck can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Sarah hadn't come. He sighs, wiping down the counter.

"Chuck you okay?"

"Yeah," Chuck shrugs. "I stayed up last night writing code so I'm a little tired."

"Understood man. Well look, we probably won't have such a rush that will demand both of us to be fulling the orders so how about you man the register and I full the orders? Let me do the heavy lifting."

"Thanks, Morg," Chuck tries to inject some lividity into his tone.

"No problem, that's what hetero-life partners are for, right?"

"You have got to stop saying that term in public," Chuck laughs.

Morgan joins in the laughter, clapping Chuck lightly on the back. When the laughter dies down, Morgan turns to Chuck, "oh and Chuck, I know you were looking forward to seeing Sarah again. I'm sorry she didn't show."

A week passes without Carina coming into the coffee shop. Chuck tries to shrug it off, telling himself it's no big deal. The following week she does show up, twirling in after class like she usually does. She and Morgan have their banter and before she gets ready to leave, Chuck stops her.

"Carina, how's Sarah?"

Carina shifts her gaze and purses her lips as though she wants to choose her words carefully. Chuck feels his stomach begin to churn in worry. "She's um, she's all right. You know hanging in there. I'll let her know that her favourite barista is asking for her." Carina finishes the sentence with a small smile and leaves the shop. He frowns in concern. If Carina says Sarah is fine, then she's fine, he tells himself. He tries to shrug off his apprehension, concentrating on filling orders for his other customers. But somehow, he knows something is wrong.

It's the fourth week since he'd first seen Sarah. He's beginning to think that he won't see her again and that thought cuts him deep. He's thought about looking her up on social media- not to add her as a friend or to go extensively through her profile like some creepy stalker but just to make see that she's truly okay. Morgan had showed him a picture on Carina's Instagram and the comment that Sarah had left under it, so at least he knows that Sarah's alive.

This is crazy. Here he is on a Wednesday night wiping down the tables and all he can think about is Sarah- a woman who he'd met once. But try as he might, he can't forget about her. She's enthralled him in such a way that he yearns to see her again. This really is crazy. For all he knows Sarah could have a boyfriend. What if that was the reason Carina had been so dodgy the first time he'd asked about her. Had he been too much, had he done too much when they met? Did he come on too strong? He hoped he hadn't. He didn't think he had. Was that the reason she didn't join Carina to the coffee shop? Was she avoiding him?

He racks his brain, trying to recall each detail to see where he could have gone wrong. Sighing, he makes his way over to the remaining customers to see if they need anything. The customer's having declared that they're all good, Chuck decides to head back behind the counter. It's then that he hears the door open and he turns, his eyes widening at the person.

"Hey Chuck," Sarah's voice is soft and she walks up to him. Though she offers him a smile, Chuck notes with concern that it doesn't reach her eyes. He wants to close the distance between them and wrap his arms around her. But that would be inappropriate. He doesn't know her like that. Heck, they aren't even friends. But he does care for her and he can't bare to see her so upset.

"Sarah, hey. It's so good to see you," he tries his best to keep his voice steady.

"Well I did say I'd come back and try something adventurous, didn't I?"

Chuck laughs and turns to the menu. He doesn't want her to know that minutes ago he was resigning himself to the fact that he'd probably never see her again. "So, what can I get you?"

"Mhmm, why don't you choose something for me."

"Um yeah I can do that. Are you sure though?"

"Yes Chuck," Sarah affirms, "I trust you."

She goes to take a seat at one of the tables while Chuck makes her coffee. Minutes later, he places two cups before her. "Okay, so here we have an expresso and an Americano. Whichever one you don't want, I'll take."

Smiling, Sarah takes the Americano. "It looks good. And it smells good too," Sarah comments before taking a tentative sip. "This is good, thanks Chuck."

"I'm glad you like."

"How much is it?" Sarah begins digging into her bag for her purse.

"It's okay Sarah."

"No, no, let me pay. I bet you've got to lock up the till and stuff soon. I'll pay and be out of your hair."

"Sarah," Chuck calls her name gently. He reaches out across the table and places his hand on her forearm to still her movements. "It's okay."

Sarah huffs and nods, placing her bag back on the floor beside her chair. Her gaze then goes to Chuck's hand which is still making contact with hers. He follows her gaze and his ears turn red as he withdraws his hand, mumbling an apology.

They're silent then with Chuck sipping his espresso and sneaking glances at his companion. She isn't really drinking her coffee and he wonders whether she'd said that it tasted good for his benefit. "You know, if you don't like it, I could make you something else."

Sarah shakes herself from her stupor, pulling the coffee cup to her lips. "I'm sorry Chuck. I'm just a little distracted. But the coffee really is lovely."

"Do you wanna talk about it?" Chuck looks at her warmly. "Ellie says I'm a really good listener."

"Is Ellie your girlfriend?" Sarah asks softly, feeling her stomach begin to twist itself into knots.

"No, no, she's my older sister."

"Oh," Sarah nods. She wants to ask him if he has a girlfriend, but she isn't sure she has a right to. After all, this is only the second time she's seen him. "I um, I have a sister too."

"Really? That must be fun. Ellie always wanted a sister. When my parents brought me home from the hospital, she turned up her nose and almost demanded that they return me to the hospital and exchange me for a girl," Chuck laughs, recounting the story his parents had told him.

Sarah laughs, causing her eyes to sparkle and Chuck thinks that he could listen to her laugh and watch her eyes sparkle like that forever. "Well she's a newborn but if you consider changing diapers and washing vomit out of your hair fun, then sure, the weeks I spent with her were a lot of fun."

"Oh, a newborn huh? That'll certainly make your family dynamics more interesting," Chuck comments.

"Yeah. Her name is Molly." Sarah then pulls out her phone and shows him some pictures of the baby.

"She looks just like you," Chuck says.

Sarah frowns momentarily before masking it, her expression now neutral. Chuck wonders why that comment would offend or upset her so much. He doesn't push her though and they finish their coffees in silence.

The following evening Chuck is working the night shift. Sarah enters the coffee shop about half hour before closing time and tells Chuck she's back for another "adventure". He makes her coffee and they sit at the same table as they did the night before.

"I hope you won't get in trouble for this," Sarah says. "Your boss might get angry that you spend so much time sitting and talking with customers."

Chuck shrugs, He wants to tell her that she's more than a customer to him, but he bites his tongue. "It's okay. Big Mike won't have my ass over something like this."

"Okay, I'm glad then," Sarah smiles.

"Sarah, I've been meaning to ask, and if I'm overstepping then feel free to tell me to but out of your business but is the baby, is Molly okay?"

"Yeah, she's fine. Why?"

"It's just that I hadn't seen you for almost four weeks. And when I asked Carina about you, she said you were okay, but I don't know, maybe I was just reading too much into it, but I got a sense that things maybe weren't okay?"

"I really was planning to take you up on your offer the next day," Sarah looks down at her folded hands before continuing, "I was um, I was really looking forward to seeing you again."

"Well that's good. I was looking forward to seeing you too," Chuck offers a smile.

Sarah blushes. "I like you Chuck."

"I like you too, Sarah."

They lapse into a comfortable silence, each mulling over the other's admission. "Carina told me you asked about me," Sarah directs them back toward the previous line of conversation.

"Yeah. Morgan and I hadn't seen her for a whole week. We were really happy when we saw her come in the following week, and by then I guess I was so, I don't know antsy about seeing you again that I just had to know you were okay."

"That was sweet of you to ask about me...as was your noticing that Carina hadn't been in."

"Yeah, we were worried that she was sick or something. I think it led Morgan to ask for her number. You know, at least that way she could contact him, and we'd be able to check up on her."

"Oh, I see. Did she explain where she'd been?"

"She told us she had to leave town for a couple of days. Morgan and I didn't wanna pry."

Sarah purses her lips. "The Thursday after I met you, I was getting ready for class when my Dad called. He said that Mom had gone for her weekly check-up and that the baby's heartbeat wasn't as strong as the doctors would've liked. They had to operate immediately. So, I took the first flight I could get. Carina wanted to come but I knew she had a lot of deadlines for her courses so I told her she could fly out as soon as she could."

"I sense that Carina would drop everything to be there for you."

"She would," Sarah affirms.

"Then I'm glad you have a friend like her."

Sarah smiles. "She's my best friend. And my cousin."

"Your cousin? Really?"

"You don't see the resemblance?" Sarah laughs. "Our dads were brothers. Twins actually"

"Were?"

Sarah shifts in her seat. "Yeah, Carina's dad died when she was ten."

"I'm sorry," Chuck covers her hand with his, squeezing it gently.

"Thank you. So um, anyway, our grandmother took us in when we were both ten."

"Where were your parents?"

Sarah purses her lips again. It is uncharacteristic for her to share so much of her story. Besides Carina and Zondra, she hadn't ever let anyone get so close or know so many details about her life. But with Chuck, she feels like she could share everything with him- all her fears and insecurities, the bad parts of her past and the stuff that still left a dull ache in her chest. She feels...safe. "They divorced when I was seven...My Mom took a job overseas and for a while, it was just me and Dad in the house. But things happened and when my Uncle James died, I guess it sorta sent my Dad into a spiral."

"Sarah, I'm so sorry."

She shrugs. "It was okay though. I had my Nana and I had Carina. Nana took good care of us."

"I understand what it's like to have your parents miss out on your childhood. My mother left when I was nine and my father took off a couple years later."

"Chuck, that's awful!"

He nods solemnly. "My mom left with pretty much no warning. I don't know if I was too young to see the signs then but looking back, I remember that she and my Dad used to have a lot of hushed conversations. But I always thought it was adult stuff you know? The stuff that kids shouldn't worry about." He shrugs, a faraway but pained look on his face. "I kinda felt like I had done something. After Mom left Dad...he became different. He wasn't always the loudest person in the room but after Mom left, he became more withdrawn. He never really talked about her or why she left. I think it was either a surprise to him or he hadn't agreed with her leaving and it hurt too much to talk about. But his silence hurt Ellie and I too. I used to think that maybe it was my fault and maybe that's why Dad became so distant."

"It is...It um, it took me a couple years of therapy, but I finally came to understand that them leaving wasn't my fault. Anyway, Ellie and I managed. She's a doctor now and I'm here in college so things are definitely looking up." Sarah stares at Chuck in amazement, wondering how he suffered so much in his childhood and yet grew up to such a sweet soul. "But enough talk about our um, crappy childhoods for now. You can finish telling me about your trip back home."

"Right so remember I said my parents divorced when I was seven. Well they reconciled about six years later. They remarried before I left home for college, and well, now they have Molly. When Carina came down, she helped my parents around the house with Molly. Obviously, it had been a long time since we'd had a baby in the house and Molly was a bit pre-mature and Mom was still recovering from her surgery, so they needed and welcomed the extra help. Carina and I also spent a lot of time with Nana."

Sarah takes a breath, fidgeting with the cup. "Sometimes we both feel guilty for leaving San Diego to come study here because it meant leaving Nana. But she says that we shouldn't worry because we're doing something which she never got to. She um, she says she's proud of us. That's all we ever really wanted to do you know. Make her proud..."

"Your Nana sounds like a wonderful woman."

"Oh, she is," Sarah smiles brightly. "I think she'd love you."

"Well fingers crossed that one day I get to meet her."

"We haven't even been on one date yet and you're already talking about going home to meet my folks? A little hasty aren't we Chuck?" Sarah smirks.

Chuck's eyes widen. "Wait, wait, I didn't mean it like that."

"Are you saying you don't want to meet my folks Chuck?"

He looks at her, tongue tied. "There's no winning with you, is there?"

"Hmmm," Sarah wiggles her eyebrows. "I guess you'll have to wait and find out."

"So, can I ask you another question?"

"Ask away Chuck."

"Last night when I said Molly looked like you, you frowned. Why?"

"You noticed that?" Sarah arches her eyebrow in surprise.

"I notice everything about you," Chuck responds. "But not in a creepy stalker kind of way."

"That's exactly what a creepy stalker would say," Sarah quips. "To answer your question, I guess I need to give you a bit more back story. After Nana took me in, my father left San Diego. He hadn't told us where he was going but he'd send the occasional post card or letter. Sometimes he'd pop into town for a couple of days. My Nana didn't like what he was doing. I heard them one night arguing. Nana told my dad that him coming and going wasn't good for me and he argued that it was better than completely abandoning me like my mother had done. I um, I pulled the covers over my head at that point. Carina joined me in my bed and tried to distract me from their conversation. We put in some headphones and listened to some music and eventually we fell asleep. When we woke in the morning, my dad was gone, and I didn't see him for a long time after that. When my Mom came back to the States, she rented an apartment close to my Nana's house so that she could be close. I was in my angry teenager phase and I really didn't want anything to do with her. But my Nana encouraged me to talk to her, she said she didn't wanna force or push me but that she thought it would be beneficial to me if I had some sort of relationship with my mother and eventually we began repairing our relationship. Anyway, a couple months after my Mom came back, so did my Dad. It was crazy how I went from having no parents involved in my life to having them both back. Mom and Dad barely managed to be civil with each other, but I guess there was still some love there because they eventually reconciled. They bought back the house we'd been living in before."

"Okay, I'm following."

"Yeah, so I've said all that to show that I haven't exactly had the best relationship with my parents. Even after they'd bought the house, I didn't move back in with them immediately. I was still so angry with both of them...and I'd grown so accustomed to it just being Nana, Carina and I that it took me some time to adjust. When I found out that Mom was pregnant...I just felt like..."

"Like you were being replaced? Like they were starting over?"

"Yes," Sarah nodded. "I know it might sound bad but, I just couldn't help thinking that they were blotting out their failed attempt and starting afresh..."

"And the baby looking like you reinforced those feelings?"

"Yes."

"But do you really think that that is the case?"

Sarah huffs. Deep down, she knows that isn't the case. That's part of the reason she'd stayed back home for the two extra weeks. Her parents had wanted her to feel as included in the family as possible and not as though with the arrival of the new baby she'd been cast aside. "I know that it's not. It may not sound like it, but I do love Molly. I want her to have all the things I never did."

"I know you do, Sarah," Chuck smiles comfortingly. "You're a good sister. You're a good person."

Sarah continues to visit the coffee shop on the nights she knows Chuck will be there. Carina has taken to teasing her that for a girl who used to drink the most boring coffee, she spends an awful amount of time in a coffee shop, but Sarah takes the teasing in good fun. They meet outside of the coffee shop too. Some nights they just sip their coffees and study. On those nights they don't need to push the other to have a conversation. Just being in the other's company is enough. Some nights they meet in one of the many study areas on campus and she tells him about the interesting things she learnt in class that day. He loves the way her eyes sparkle when she speaks about the subjects she's passionate about. In turn, he tells her about his progress in writing his software and what he hopes he'll be able to do with it. He's found out that she knows almost ten languages, five of which she's fluent in. The first time he'd overheard her and Carina speaking in Polish over the phone, he'd marvelled at her. Her face had turned pink at something Carina said and she'd ducked from his gaze before speaking into the phone quickly and ending the call. He thought the call had been about him, but she wouldn't confirm or deny.

Chuck knows that he is falling for her. He has known it for a while now. He loves their conversation, their silence, their hugs, her laugh, her smile, her brilliance...Oh gosh he loves her. One day, they hold each other's hands while they are giggling together over Morgan's and Carina's dramatic antics. Soon, they progress to entwining their fingers and their hugs become longer.

Tonight, they're having iced coffee and Sarah is going to teach him some of the basic stuff for conversational Polish. As she speaks, he finds himself being drawn to her rosy lips and he idly wonders if her lips are as soft as they look.

"Chuck?" Sarah calls, waving a hand in front of his face. "Were you listening?"

"I'm sorry Sarah, there's just something I need to do."

"What? Right now? But Chuck, we just started."

"I know, I know," he apologises, rising from his seat. Sarah rises too, looking at him questioningly. Chuck walks over to her and pulls her against him. "Sarah?"

"Yes Chuck?" Her voice is barely above a whisper. Looking into his warm hazel eyes, Sarah admits to herself that she is in love with Chuck Bartowski. She has been for a while. She'd sensed that there was something different about him from the first time they met and in the past couple of weeks, she has confirmed that. She loves his warmth. She loves his infectious smile. She loves how patient he is. She loves that he's always there for her. She loves that he's so kind and thoughtful. She loves him and she knows exactly what she is going to do about it.

Chuck places his arms around her waist and Sarah wraps one arm around his neck, her other hand coming to rest in his curls. Slipping their eyes shut, they share their first kiss...and their second...and their third. He loses count of how many times they kiss, but when they finally pull apart, their iced coffees have long melted.
