Chapter 1: Waking up in the Desert

"Miwa...Miwa…wake up Miwa. There is much to discuss. Wake up."

Against my better judgement to ignore the voice, I open my eyes. A ceiling stares back at me, almost looking like it's sunbaked. The pillow is soft. Wait pillow, I wasn't sleeping when last I checked. I was up, awake and trying to find shelter. I sit up scratching my head. There's no reason to panic, I've been in weirder situations than this. A black out isn't something for me to worry over. Positioning myself on the side of the bed I try to retrace my steps. Everything comes up normal until I reach the point where I am trying to find shelter. Rubbing a temple, I at least remember the monsters trying to attack me before the blackout. They were nothing though, just some small fries. But what happened after that? My ears twitch as I hear padded feet coming this way. I recognize the footsteps of my two companions, at least they're here. A large fluffy grey wolf and a slightly smaller black wolf come into the room. I lower myself to their level allowing them to sniff and check me. The grey one, Bear, sniffs around my face; where as Koda, sniffs and licks, both trying to make sure I am ok.

"Hey boys. What have you been up to?" They both whine and yelp happily,

"So you're up?" I look up at the owner of the voice. She's tall and a bit burly, her red hair pulled into a ponytail. Her outfit suggests that it's hot out, although I can tell by the heat radiating in the room. " your two friends here were a bit worried. Only the temptation of food, seems to pull them away from you."

"Only if you have the kind of meat they're in the mood for. I don't mean to sound rude but who are you?" I ask,

"Ursa, I am the physician here in Gerudo town." My ears twitch at the unfamiliar name.

"Gerudo...Town?"

"I take it from your appearance, you are not from here?"

"No, I'm not. How did I get here?"

"A few guards found you and your pups out in the cold of the desert. Had the not picked you up, you would have frozen to death. Our chief ordered them to bring you to me."

"Chief?" Ursa quirks and eyebrow at my question, "I know what a chief is, I just am not too sure what is going on right now." As I rub my temple again, I can't help but suspect a certain God to be the culprit of this confusion. I have a feeling I'm not in Kansas anymore.

"I would be willing to answer any questions you have. Although, the chief did want to meet you as well."

"I would expect as much…" a total stranger showing up near a town, unconscious-not to mention with strange, white hair, red markings and wolf ears-yeah I don't blame them for being suspicious. I would be also. But that's not going to stop me from finding him. " would it be alright if I took a look around?" Ursa eyes me suspiciously, eyes narrowed, the look of a waryanimal, "I won't run away, just want to get a look around." Still she eyes me, "what if these two stay behind?" I point to Bear and Koda, "I'm not going anywhere without them. They can stay here and I can walk around for now. How's that sound?"

"Very well." She finally relents, "while you look around, I shall tell the chief you are awake." Without another word, I get up heading for the door. Bear and Koda try to follow but I give them a firm command to stay and head out. Outside, the heat is harsher than inside the doctor's building, but still somewhat manageable. Trees are planted in rows and there's the fresh smell of water running through the town. The entire city seems to be made of stone, which is fine. The entire population however...is nothing but women. Natives and foreigners, bid and small, pointed ears and no pointed ears, sun tanned skin and pale skinned, all of them are females.

"The hell did I get sent to? Without a doubt, he has something to do with this. Need to find a quiet place, first." It's easy to find the exit, which is guarded again by two females. They both seem to look at me with raised eyebrows, as I pass by. I'll have to make sure to ask about that. Stepping outside the town limits makes the heat rise even more. But I know I'm on the right track.

"Over here Miwa. Come this way." I sense his presence, his annoying presence and I can't help but let off a small grumble, similar to a growl.

"Yuki...where are you?" I demand to only the seemingly hot air. The wind seems to answer me as it seems to try to guide me out to a small little grove, just a little away from the town. Though it's far enough that there are no prying eyes. That's more or less his style. I walk out over to the grove, thankful that the tree gives a bit of shade. "Alright, come on out. I know you had something to do with this. Why am I here?" There's no answer, though I can feel his eyes on me. "So what? You taking after our mom now? I don't appreciate the silent treatment. Just tell me what this is about Yuki." Light suddenly bursts forth, and converges in front of me. When the light fades a tall man stands before me. He's about seven feet tall, staring down at me. The red markings similar to mine paint his face elegantly. Long flowing white hair and wolf ears rest on his head. A bushy tail peeks out from behind him and under his many layers of elegant robes. Yuki, my half brother, the legitimate heir to our mother Amaterasu the head of the Thirteen Brush Gods. For some reason he's always come around when I least expect him. I don't know if it's out of pity or if he really actually cares, but he always tried to help. "Yuki…"

"Hello dear sister." The corner of his mouth curves up. "I am glad to see you up and in one piece. Welcome to the Gerudo Desert."

"What sort of trouble did you get me into now?"

"None really, if you must know." He bends forward meeting me face to face, " I just thought that you would like the change of scenery is all."

"Change of...no a change of scenery would be traveling from one state to another. This is something else entirely. What did you do?" He looks behind me,

"Where are your furry companions, Bear and Koda. I always love talking with them. They say the cutest things about you."

"Back in the town, they are staying there to ensure I don't run."

"Why would you run? You have nothing to hide." I hate it when he intentionally avoids my questions,

"Listen brother...we've known each other for some years now. You should know by now that I don't like it when you intentionally avoid my questions. I'd appreciate it if you would just tell me what's going on." Yuki sighs.

"In order to explain that much...I suppose you will want to hear the whole story?"

"Please."

"Very well. The world or rather realm you are in, is called Hyrule. We thought it best to send you here."

"We?"

"Our mother and I." My body tenses at the mention of her. "Before your little mind goes jumping to the most delusional conclusion, allow me to explain please."

"Just answer this: am I being punished?"

"No."

"Banished?"

"No."

"Is this some sort of mission she is sending me on?"

"In a manner of speaking...yes. Though not in the way you most likely are thinking." I open my mouth again, but he places a finger to my lips, "allow me to explain before you start ranting again dear sister."

"...stop calling me that…" he seems to study me for a moment. Yuki has the tendency to draw things out, only for the sole purpose of annoying me. Having a godly sibling is not the easiest thing.

"Yes, I think we made the right choice in sending you here. You should fit in just fine."

"Excuse me?"

"Although, it wasn't just us. Thanks to the governing deity of this realm we were able to receive permission to allow you enter here." I can already feel the usual headache coming on. My headache's progression is halted as a sudden noise, from the town reaches my sensitive ears. As I concentrate on the sounds, the inhabitants of the town are in distress. Shrieks, screams and cries echo in my ears, my body tenses at the sudden change in the atmosphere. A few battle cries go up in the town, some of them shouting orders to the guardsmen. On instinct I start for the town when I hear Yuki chuckle, finding something interesting. "Always so quick to help others in need little sister, yet never yourself. You realize this is the reason we chose to send you to this world right?"

"What does that mean?"

"Never mind. For now, I believe those two need your help." I turn to see the two guardsmen watching the entrance, trying to defend a few travelers. In front of them are red clad ninja, sickles in hand. There are about six of them. Even if the two warriors could handle them, I hate bullies, cowards who gang up in large numbers. Maybe because all my life that exactly what I dealt with. As my hands clench into fists, they feel hot as metal suddenly materializes on my knuckles and forearms. As soon as the Celestial Knuckles finish forming, I crack my knuckles before racing off. One of the ninja manages to slip between the guards, as they are preoccupied with either two or three of their own foes. The ninja makes his way to the travelers, who try to back away. One of them, a child, trips over their feet, trying to back away from the assailant. They slowly descend on the little girl. I raise a fist, now only a few meters away from them. The ninja raises the sickle at the little girl, ready to bring it down. Just as he does, I block his path, the metal of his sickle clanging with the metal of my arm guard. His face is masked so I can't see his face. However, I can tell by his posture, he wasn't expecting me to interrupt his fun. My unoccupied hand balls into a fist, and I waste no time in playing a hard punch to his face. With a pain ridden cry, he goes flying back and into a few of his comrades. It frees up one of the guards and stops the scuffle between the others. They turn their attention to me.

"Pretty…" the little girl says from behind me.

"Get back kid." Her footsteps recede behind me as she runs to her caretaker. A few of the ninja brandish their sickles, some bows and arrows. The Gerudo guards holding their spears at the ready, back up to close the distance between us. They seem to at least know I'm on their side. I take a step forward, unphased by the small army in front of us. "take dare of them." I tell the guards, before rushing the pack of six. The first, three, rush forward to me me head on, each raising their sickles. The first, swings his down, aiming for my shoulder. I catch the blade, unphased by the cut it leaves. Swinging around, I knock my elbow into his temple. Immediately he goes limp, his grip in the sickle gone. As an extra measure, I squeeze my grip on the blade, until it breaks. The other two try to charge at the same time. I duck, rolling out of the way only to meet a bambardment of arrows. They land in the ground rather than in my flesh. Heat, surges through my hands as I raise a fist. As I jab at the air, bursts of fire immediately spring forth, heading for the archers. Startled by the new development, they drop their bows, trying to get out of the way, their bows burned to ash. As Okami, my mother has many skills she has mastered, from the different Brush gods. As her daughter, I inherited some of those abilities. With no ranged weapons, the pull out their own sickles. As one jumps at me, I immediately knock him down with a round house, sending him flying. Small fries, their easy to read, especially when you get them riled up. So long as you don't get cocky yourself, they become easy pickings. One tries to change things up by disappearing, while a second, tries to take me from the side. He swings his sickle, aiming for my side. My body twists, with ease as I lock his arm, in place with a leg. He tries to yank free to no avail. Behind me, I see a flash of light, and there is a presence behind me. The one that disappeared moves closer, raising his weapon. I block his attack with an arm guard, the metal ringing. Still holding the first in an iron grip with my leg, I bend backwards landing a punch to his stomach. I twist around, pulling the second one to me. As I release him from my grip, I duck down, kicking his legs out from under him. As he lands, I flip forward, landing a massive kick to his abdomen. He gasps before passing out. Rolling back, I return to a standing position, taking a stance. There are only two left. However after seeing their comrades get taken down, the don't seem to keen on trying to fight me. So I give them a choice, "you can either walk out of here in one piece or end up on the ground like your friends." They choose the latter, both disappearing in a flash of smoke. "Cowards…" I grumble. I turn to the group behind me, "everyone alright?" One of the guards steps forward

"We are. Thank you." There's a sudden explosion before more screams and even fires break out. Over the cacophony of noise I hear someone command,

"Protect Lady Riju at all costs!"

"Lady Riju…!" The two guards tense at the words.

"Who?"

"Our chief!"

…..

And that is going to be chapter 1. Please let me know what you think. This is of course meant to kind of set things up sort of. But I would still appreciate any sort of constructive criticism and feedback. Thanks again for taking the time to read. Also. I may be posting sporadically because of my schedule but I will post.
