*Hey guys! This is the sequel to my story, "Someone For Natasha" and is also an Avengers Endgame fix-it story. You should read the first one first. Enjoy!
Beep! Beep! Beep!
Cam groans as he slams his alarm clock shut. He pulls the pillow back over his head trying to get a few more minutes of precious sleep.
It's only a few moments after his alarm clock rings that he feels his dog's wet nose rubbing against his hand.
Stark whimpers and he mumbles, "Alright, alright, I'm up. Aren't you suppose to be waking up Frankie anyways?"
The old dog barks as he turns and leaves the room. Cam sits up and groans. He hates getting up early for school. Actually, he wasn't even that big of a fan of school. He glances over to all of his half finished homework assignments. He debated about doing them or making up some excuse with his teachers. Most of them were easily charmed.
After getting dressed, he grabs his papers and shoves them into his backpack. He hears his laptop ding and he opens it. He grins when he sees what's on it.
He shoves the computer into his bag and ran down the stairs.
He enters the kitchen to find his dad cooking breakfast.
Jamie smiles, "Morning Cam. Where are you rushing off to this morning?"
"Maddie's. I just got the results of a diagnostic on our project. I want to discuss it before class."
Jamie rolls his eyes at his eccentric seventeen year old son. The only academic thing Cam cared about was science, math, and engineering. This project he was working on was for a scholarship to attend MIT. Cam didn't need the scholarship, but his partner did. Jamie was excited for them both, "That can wait ten minutes for breakfast."
"I guess," Cam says begrudgingly.
As he sits down, his younger sister waltzes into the room. Jamie smiles at his daughter. Over the last ten years, his daughter looked more and more like her mother. Her hair was a gorgeous dark red that was always all over the place unless she was at ballet, soccer, or martial arts. Out of his two children, Frankie was definitely more busy than her older brother was.
"Morning baby. Are you ready for your audition today?"
She nods, "Yep. I'm so going to beat Kennedy. I can't wait to get my solo. Cam, you're going to drive me, right?"
Cam looks up from his phone, "What? Oh yeah. Wait, why do I have to drive you?"
Jamie gives his son a pointed look, "Because Pepper and I have an important meeting to be at in DC and you're suppose to be watching your sister and Morgan."
"Morgan's almost fifteen! Can't she watch herself?"
Frankie snorts, "Morgan would burn down the entire tower if she was left alone for that long."
"That's not my fault. I have to work on my project!"
Jamie shrugs, "Figure it out. Pepper and I won't be back until midnight. Your sister's audition is at five downtown."
Cam's phone vibrates as he stands up, "Ok. Morgan will be here after school, feed them, and then take Frankie to her audition. Got it. I got to go."
"You have to get me from soccer practice at four and then bring me straight there," Frankie calls after her brother.
Frankie gives her dad a look, "He's going to forget. Isn't he?"
Jamie walks over and kisses his daughter's forehead, "Of course not. Now go get dressed so I can drop you off at school."
Frankie nods and gestures to Stark who had been sitting at her feet, "Come on, Stark."
Jamie watches his daughter go before starting to clean the kitchen. He starts to make Frankie's lunch and smiles as he gets the ingredients out for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It was his daughter's favorite thing to eat, which doesn't surprise him considering how often her mother ate it when she was pregnant with her.
"Hey babe," Natasha says walking into the kitchen of their new house. Or, what will be the kitchen. They had come over to check on the progress of the new house which would hopefully be done soon, considering that Natasha was now six months pregnant and they wanted to be in the house before the baby was born.
"Yeah, what's up?" Jamie says looking away from the contractor to his fiancee.
Natasha gives him a little pout, "I'm hungry."
Jamie raises an eyebrow as he walks over to her, "You're always hungry."
She raises an eyebrow at him, "And who's fault is that?"
Jamie gives her a small smile, "I'm guessing mine and not the you're carrying our child?"
"Yep. And how are you going to remedy this problem?"
Jamie looks over to the contractor, "Do you need our signatures on anything else?"
"No. We're good for now."
Jamie nods and takes Natasha's hand as they begin to walk out of the house. Natasha rest her head on his shoulder and he asks, "So what do you want to eat?"
Natasha looks at him and he smiles, "Nevermind. I should know better."
"Yeah. You should," she says as they get in the car.
When they get home, Jamie goes to the kitchen while Natasha heads to the living room to lie down.
After awhile, Jamie comes to join her with the peanut butter, jelly, and bread in his hand.
She raises an eyebrow and he shrugs, "Wasn't sure if you wanted to wait while I finished making your sandwhich."
She smiles, "I'm not sure either."
She grabs a piece of bread and dips it into the peanut butter and then into the jelly befire taking a bite.
Jamie shakes his head, "This is exactly why Cam made me buy you your own jars."
She rolls her eyes at him before continuing her snack.
Jamie shakes his head as the memory ends. It's been ten years since Natasha died, and he missed her everyday. She'd given her life for the world to become a better place, and it had. He worked for Fury now, running the SHIELD medical ward. He also helped invent some new medical technology with Stark Industries, which is why he was going to a meeting with Pepper tonight. The kids were good, but he could tell they missed her. It was hard on both of them in different ways. Cam knew Natasha, so he knew what he was missing but Frankie had very few memories of her mother. He knows that the time she feels closest to Natasha is when they spend the weekends with Clint and his family, but it's not the same.
He sighs as he throws Frankie's lunch in her back pack. Today was going to be a long day.
Cam parked his car outside of Maddie's house. He climbed out of the car and snuck around to the side of the house where Maddie's bedroom was located. He saw her inside running through equations for their calc test today. He knocked on the window and she turned around. She gestured that the window was open and he climbed in.
"Hey, I got the diagnostic's back. The machine should be able to hold at least 1000 rems of radiation. That's enough to save someone's life."
She nods, "True. We should make the last few adjustments tonight. The judges come by for the first round of evaluation tomorrow. Hopefully we impress them enough so we can move onto to the next round."
"Which we will and the you'll win the scholarship," Cam said confidently.
She raised an eyebrow at him, "You know, more than one person can win the scholarship. You could come to college with me."
Cam shrugs, "I don't really have the grades. Plus, paying isn't an issue for us. And I might just go join the army."
She raises an eyebrow at him, "The army is your big plan? You do realize you're like an engineering genius, right?"
Cam shrugs as he looks down, "Maybe. Hey, we got to get to school so we can get it over with. By the way, I have to baby sit tonight and take Frankie to an audition at four."
She scrunches her face up, "Really?"
He nods, "Sorry, my dad has to work. But, we can work for an hour after school and I can stop by tomorrow morning."
She gives him a slight glare, "Fine. Come on, we're going to be late for class."
Cam shakes his head, "So now you care about class?"
"Cam!" she says as she walks out the door.
"Oh come, on Mads!" he says following her.
"Morgan, are you sure you have everything for tonight?" Pepper asked her daughter as she finished packing her work bag.
"Mom, I'm just going over to Uncle Jamie's," Morgans says exasperated. She had been going over their forever. She had packed her backpack with all her homework for school and threw in a few extra text books for later that evening. Even though she had no intentions of doing it. She watched her Mom briefly leave the room and she picked up her old cat, Blueberry. He mom had gotten him when her Dad died and she loved him to pieces. She slid him into the bag and whispered, "Stay quiet buddy."
"Morgan, come on!" Pepper called, "I have to get to the office and you have to get to school."
"Coming," she shouted back. Today, was going to be a good day. Today was they day she was going to fix her family.
