VICTORY! After a period of Civil War, the Rebellion have finally achieved victory over the Evil Galactic Empire at the Battle of Endor. In the wake of the death of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, recently anointed Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker embarks on a quest to restore the Jedi Order to its former prestige. Little did he know the many perils he shall now face now that there is no Empire to keep the citizens of the Galaxy in check...
Chapter 1: Prologue.
The underworld of Coruscant was a far cry from the upper levels of the magnificent ecumenopolis. Whilst the city puts on a façade of civility, it is crawling with a plethora of corrupt, black-hearted gangsters who'd like nothing more than to watch the whole city burn to ashes. The lower levels of Coruscant is a breeding ground for all types of crime and misery possible, made even worse now that there is no Empire to keep them in check. It was the last place anyone wanted to be, especially a certain robed figure advancing cautiously through the crowded streets. He wore a brown, hooded cloak over black and dark grey robes and trousers, with matte black boots.
Luke Skywalker had rarely been since the fall of the Empire, apart from the few award ceremonies the New Republic had held in his honour. No one knew much about him apart from the fact that he played a key role in the fall of the Empire, dating all the way back to the destruction of the first Death Star. It had been rumoured that the young Skywalker was a devotee of The Jedi Order, a once powerful religion of force-users who served as peacekeepers in the days of the Old Republic, who were now all but extinct. There were stories about how Skywalker had duelled the Dark Lord, Darth Vader, in single combat and won, about how he was capable of taking out entire squadrons of Stormtroopers with just a flick of his wrist and how he could take down an entire Star Destroyer with his mind alone. Whether this was true or not remained to be seen.
Luke made his way through the crowds as his kept his ice-blue eyes focused on the tracking fob he held in his gloved, mechanical hand as he avoided public perception. He had been tracking the whereabouts of a major crime syndicate that have been operating out of Coruscant's underbelly ever since their old headquarters was infiltrated on Ordo Eris a few years back. They were called the Haxion Brood, they were notorious for gambling and smuggling and they also had a taste for arena fighting. They also had come into possession of a rare artefact that Luke would like to recover as quickly as possible, because if they figured out what it is, then it would be sold off to the highest bidder.
He made his way to a local cantina where his target was last sighted and went inside. Suddenly, his senses were overcome with the smell of alcohol and the heat was almost overwhelming, there was music playing in the background, but it was too loud to make out a word.
"It's the perfect place for a criminal to congregate" Luke thought to himself, as he made his way through the horde of intoxicated attendees. He eventually found himself an empty table and sat down so he could get a better view of the cantina. Not long after Luke had sat down, the person he was looking for came into the Cantina with at least five of his friends. It was a purple-skinned Rodian called Reelo, in recent years he had quite the reputation for one of the best smugglers and con-artists around, and even more recently thanks to an informant in the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine, Luke knows that he was famous for auctioning off rare artefacts and relics found in old Jedi and Sith Temples and Enclaves.
Luke decided it was time to confront the Rodian, but before he could get up out of his seat, he found himself face to face with a K-16 Blaster pistol held by a Nikto bounty hunter who had caught him staring at the bar where Reelo was sitting.
"What's your name and business here human?" he asked fiercely.
"My name is no concern to you, and so is my business" Luke replied coolly.
This seemed to mildly irritate him as he glared in annoyance. "No one likes a smart mouth you piece of bantha fodder, now I'm gonna ask you again, what is your name and business here?!" he exclaimed.
Luke was not bothered by this however, as he sat back calmly and said, "And I told you, it is no concern to you."
The Nikto was about to retort when Reelo and the rest of his acquaintances came over to see what was going on. "Hey Jek, what's going on here?" Reelo asked.
"I'm dealing with this scum here" he gestures angrily at Luke, who was still sitting down, "I caught him giving you guys looks and I've never seen him here either!"
Reelo looks down at Luke and says, "If we're gonna have a problem here, I suggest you get out of here while you still can." While lowering his hand to the grip of his blaster pistol, attempting to look threatening.
Luke stood and rather than leaving he stood his ground, "I'm afraid I can't do that" Luke states confidently, "See, I'm here for you Reelo" He says directing his attention the purple-skinned Rodian, who narrows his eyes and holds his blaster at the ready.
"What do you want with me, Outlander?" He asks cautiously.
"You work for the Haxion Brood do you not? Well, recently you stole something important to me and you sold it to them, and if I don't get it back it won't end well for anyone. So, tell where their headquarters is, before this gets worse than it has to be." Luke advised, whilst keeping his posture and refusing to be intimidated by these low lives.
Reelo considers this for a moment and then throws back his head in raucous laughter as his men followed suit, "You amuse me Laserbrain, but you forget that you are outnumbered six to one."
"Numbers don't necessarily guarantee victory in battle" Luke remarked sagely, "Tell me what I want to know, and I'll leave you be, I do not want to have to hurt you."
Reelo and his comrades once again throw back their heads in laughter, attracting the attention of several attendees in the Cantina. "This human is funny, but now he needs to be taught a lesson." Reelo exclaims boldly, "Boys? Take him outside."
Two other friends from the group, a Nautolan and a Twi'lek, grabbed one of Luke's arms each and started to move him outside. That was until a sudden gust of unexplainable energy, lifted one of the glass containers off the counter and sent it hurling towards the Twi'lek's head, sending him to the floor and rendering him unconscious. Luke used the hysteria that his distraction caused as an opening to them swiftly elbow the Nautolan in the head and sending him to the floor. Then he turned to face Reelo and the three others that were left.
"I'm not leaving here until I get answers" Luke informed loudly, leaving the rest of the Cantina gaping widely at him.
"Blast him!" Reelo yelled urgently to the three other occupants next to him, who unholstered their blasters on starting firing at Luke in rapid succession, much to the dismay of the bartender. But instead of hitting him, something else happened, which finally revealed the identity of the robed figure to the rest of the Cantina.
Luke knew he only had a split second to react before the blaster bolts would hit him, so he called upon the force to summon a cylindrical object to his hand from his belt, he activated it and with a snap-hiss, an emerald green blade protruded out of the emitter and he held it in front of him in a defensive position. He used the force to slow down time around him, so in his point of view, everything seemed to be moving in slow motion. He brought up his Lightsaber and deflected the blaster bolts back at his opponents, making sure to aim in a direction where he knew it would not kill them, just injure them greatly. As time sped back up, the three assailants landed on the ground in in heap, clutching their wounds in pain. Reelo looked down in shock at the three on the ground and then turned to fire at Luke, but he was too slow. Luke had already used the force to deprive him of his weapon and had him pinned up against wall with the force, lightsaber pointing downwards.
"Now I'm going to ask once more" Luke warned, "Where is the headquarters of the Haxion Brood?"
Reelo struggled to move as his dark yellow eyes darted around the Cantina. Eventually, after much resistance, he conceded.
"Level 1325, Warehouse seven" he managed to choke out.
"Thank you for your cooperation" Luke said appreciatively before dropping him, he turned his and walked towards the bar as the Cantina's occupants gawked at him, some in awe, some in fear. He threw a handful of credits at the Bartender and apologised for the mess before exiting the premises, leaving everyone confused as to what the just witnessed.
