Chapter 1
Adrien's POV
It's only been a few days since my father told me I'd be marrying Chloe on my 18th and I still can't wrap my head around it. There's no way I'd even stay in Paris to begin with. And he doesn't even listen to what I want.
I want to travel the world, go on adventures and take some risks, but father would prefer I take over the family and business. I don't want to keep spending my days being bored, doing things only my father wants me to.
Luckily, I manage to go to social gatherings held by other nobles. And normally, my best friend, Nino, is there. I can usually sneak around with him and talk about anything new with him. He's at most social gatherings because he's a musician, well musician-in-training. So he assists with setting up and packing down of anything the musicians use. Thankfully tonight, there's a social gathering I can attend and hopefully he'll be there.
After lunch, I go to my room to find clothes my father chose for me lying on my bed. They're a new design of father's and something I actually like for once. A mix of white and blue. Better than wearing black and white all the time. I start to prepare for the ball tonight with high hopes Nino will be there and Chloe not there.
Marinette's POV
I'm in a carriage with my parents, my baby brother and a suitcase full of my belongings. I have no clue where we're going and it's already been an hour. My parents say they're taking me somewhere fun, but I don't think that's true since my father never lets me go anywhere.
We arrive in the carriage at a building with large acreage where there are children running around with a few adults. My father picks up my suitcase and exits the carriage telling me to follow close behind him. We go inside and there's a lovely lady who greets us. She's very sweet to me and offers me some candy. I take some and smile at her shyly. She then tells me I can go play with the other kids outside. One of the kids takes me outside where the other kids are and shows me what they have to play with. There's a tyre swing hanging on a tree by some rope. There's monkey bars and a seesaw as well. The kid tells me that they all play games like tag and points to the kids playing with it.
I play with the kids for a while until I grew very tired. I wander back inside trying to find the lady and my father and eventually found the lady in an office. I asked her where my father was and she said he'll come back one day. I already knew my father disliked me a lot and I also knew 'one day' could mean never. But just because I knew didn't mean I wasn't hurt.
I woke up from that nightmare with a tear rolling down my cheeks. I honestly wish I would dream about something a lot more happier.
I found Luka standing in my doorway, looking concerned.
"Did you dream about that again?" Luka asked.
"Yeah, I guess I did. I just hate my past and wish I could get rid of it." said Marinette sleepily.
"Marinette, our past makes us who we are though and even though it was a horrible past for the both of us, life is a lot better now. Besides, I get to have fun with you and help others out." Luka told Marinette, smiling with happiness.
"I know you're right. I just wish I didn't have to see it in my dreams. Oh, also Luka, call for a meeting please. We have a new target." said Marinette.
"Will do, my Captain." Replied Luka.
