This is Post KH3 Re:Mind DLC. Since we don't know when IV is coming out or how they probably plan to get Sora back. Here is how I see it with my own twist to it.
He wasn't sure how it happened or what event led up to him being back here of all places. Last Sora knew, the brunet had been walking towards the school and then nothing. He woke up back in the islands, standing up right. The Shibuya College Uniform is now gone but his backpack was still on him. The brunet sees that he now had a black vest with white trim on. It was over a blue and white trimmed tank top with a black belt and a silver buckle. His school pants were now just plain black pants. Black finger less gloves like he once had and the crown necklace thankfully still around his neck. He checks his tattoo that he got when living in Shibuya and it is still there. The worry hit him and in haste, his bag is placed on the ground and open. The tablet and switch and plug in all there. Including the Legend of Zelda games from Shibuya. The brunet zipped the bag back up then looked back at where he once lived.
I'm Back But How?
Chapter 1
Last he recalled, he was about 16 or 17 when he saved Kairi and this entire universe. Since then, 5...maybe 4 years have passed. He does some quick math and guesses he is about 20 or 21 now. Unless that math was wrong but the College he had been attending made it clear. They were up to date. Hell, they gave young adults like him a uniform to show they would need the extra hand. He could recall struggling the first few days until getting the hang of it. It wasn't bad though. Sora learned a lot and even caught up on lots of missed school lessons and what not. Even got told he would be able to get a real high school diploma. Something he was really proud of. Now...well, where did this leave him? Sora was doing so good. Where would this leave him now! The brunet looked around and didn't see anyone in sight. The beach is empty and the residential area ahead isn't. He could hear kids laughing, people talking and see some outside their houses. Getting closer, all Sora does is quietly walk through the area
All eyes suddenly on him. Acting as if it has been awhile. Granted, he probably could see why since he once lived here. Yet, some acted like he was some stranger. Many parents are getting their kids back inside. A few kids are running inside without needing to be told. The brunet looks around more without any care towards how they were feeling. Something felt off about this place. He knew it was home but the residential area but it had grown. He saw houses beyond what was once the boundary between the town and homes. Looking ahead, he sees Twilight Town and Destiny Islands were now one in the same. Adding to the residential area and increasing jobs even more. He keeps heading into town and sees apartments mixed in with lots of stores now. It made sense they would have apartments in town.
He stops and makes a decision then. It would make sense to get a job and place to stay before anyone knew he was back. Once he got settled back in, when he found time. Sora would seek them out or let them come find him. Not like he stuck out too much. Sure his appearance did change...a little as did his taste in many things. He was more quiet but he enjoyed music still as well as company. There were two things that stayed the same. The brunet sighed. Who was he kidding? He looks at the reflection of a now 20 something young adult with long hair in the back pulled into a ponytail. His spiky hair no longer jutted about insanely but still spiked in a downward angle. Even his once baby blue eyes seemed to have darkened in color over the years. His taste in clothes going from bright reds and such to darker colors. He wasn't the same all around. Like they would accept the new him even remotely. It was just best to get a job and place to live. Sora would let them come find him if they wanted. Something told him that he should try but the years of being alone just shot it down.
The truth was made clear by the sudden return to an empty beach and confused stares. No one knew him. They probably got too busy to look for him, maybe even forgot him. Deeming a search for a missing person just pointless. His demons inside said work would have to be priority and with all the munny he now had back in his bank. Rent wouldn't be an issue but it did say go as low as he saw fit. At least his depression had some sense of care to his frugal mindset. The brunet looks around and sees a few pubs around. Maybe one would hire him as entertainment. It sounded more fun than anything else. Heading to the only pub that would let him in. Sora sees a few employees and a real stage with instruments and speakers all set up. He saw that tonight would be their annual Song Request Event happening tonight. Heading to the bar, Sora is greeted by a female with brown hair and blue eyes. She had a business suit on.
"Hey, I am here looking for a job. Any chance I could get hired here."
She frowned, "I mean...we don't do normal interviews here so are you sure you want to try for us"
"I'd try other places but I am not really sure if they would take someone who isn't really sure what the legal age limit for drinking is." Sora shrugs.
The bartender nods, "fair point. Let me get the boss and see if he is up for the interview process first." She heads into the back and he takes a seat.
He wondered what she meant by a normal interview but Sora could wait to find out. If anything, he was used to abnormality. Hell, he remembered his journey and all he saw. It wasn't exactly normal stuff. His demon perked up. It began to tell him that he wasn't going to get the job. That he was wasting his time in attempting to do something fun and that only an idiot would hire a waste of breath. Sora did his best to fight back and demand that he at least attempt the interview process but nope. All the demon did is say over and over that he'd fail and leaving would be for the best.
"Hello, you must be the one asking for an interview, yes?" A voice has him jump and nod. "Easy kiddo. You are sure this is the place for you?"
"I don't have an ID yet so kinda my only option really." Sora confesses. "I just came here so I have to get one."
"Fair enough, you said ya wanted to be an entertainer but that kind of interview isn't normal. Still up for it?"
"Depends, I guess, What...what do I do?" The brunet got nervous.
"Sing for us." The manager points to the microphone. "If the crowd and us like ya, you are hired just like that. I got enough wait staff. I need more talents."
"Okay, sure. Yeah, sounds easy. What shall I sing?" Sora smiles, actually excited.
"What haven't we heard in awhile?" The manager looks to the bartender.
"Well, Adam Lambert released a new album." She mentions.
"Yeah, I have it on my iPod," Sora comments. "It's really good. I also have some of his really old songs. Still good to listen to."
"Adam Lambert it is. Pick a song and use the mic over there. Show me and all of us what you got."
Sora nodded and ran up to the stage. Being joined by a few people to play the instruments. He mentions the song Pick U Up and they all nod. Starting up the beat easily and showing just how many times they have done this. Now all he had to do was sing and make this count. The brunet did his best and started to sing the lyrics he knew by heart. Adding energy to the song when he saw the surprise on everyone in the room. The longer he sang, the more energy he threw in. Happy to see the crowd enjoying the rhythm being played. The only time he ever won against his own inner demons was through this one activity. It was good to see all the time and effort he put into it could actually pay off anywhere. Even at the end when he finished the song, he couldn't help but feel proud of his work. He was getting a standing ovation and applause and landed the job right then. Not even his depressed demon could ruin this and he was gonna do his best to make sure it wouldn't happen.
He was told to find an apartment and not to worry about uniforms until after the first night. Sora's new boss even recommended a decent apartment a block away from where his new job was. All his employees lived there so he would have time to get to know them after and before work. With a handshake, he left and looked around for the Daylight Apartment Complex one block down. Instead, he found an office building and had to ask for directions from a stranger. He went the wrong way. He took a right when he left the pub and came back the way he came. It was a left he should have taken. With a humiliated nod of his head, he turns back around and walks away. Hearing the demon laughing at him while calling him an idiot. So much for feeling proud. Now all he wanted to do was crawl into a hole. While passing the pub again, his demon brought up another issue. Sora never even gave his boss his name, at all. Not before or after the interview. In a rush, the brunet runs back and straight into his boss.
"I...am sorry. I just...I...sorry.." Sora felt himself get small.
"I was actually hoping you would come back. Seems in my excitement; I never got your name nor did I give my own." His boss let a laugh out. "Names Robert. You?"
"Sora sir," The brunet replies. "I..went the wrong way to get those..apartments. Heh, my bad."
"Well Sora, I recommend getting your ID and soon. So, tomorrow morning I will go to Town Hall with you and help you get it. After, you will be on your own. Think you can manage that?"
"Yes sir," He says but his mind says: 'No, I can't.'
"Good, tomorrow morning. You get some sleep." The boss pats him on the shoulder. "You will need it. We open up at 3:30 pm tomorrow~"
The door shutting has the brunet jump at the sound. Leaving him stunned in one place for a moment. Slowly Sora turns and heads left. The demon mocking him and saying that Riku would have done the process correctly. That his friend was better at anything he could do and always would be. The brunet just lets his mind mock him. Silently entering the building and seeing the office door of the complex there. Talking to the manager of the building and asking if he had to do a background check. She asked for ID first and he got kicked out when he said he didn't have one. Yet another thing to be mocked for. The brunet sat by the door and leaned against the building. Shutting his eyes and pretending that he wasn't back here after all. That this was some lucid dream and he'd wake up back in Shibuya. At least then, he had a place to stay.
