Mix up at Lone Pine Mall
Alex Keaton ignored the banshee like high pitched squeal from his sister insisting he come out and show his latest outfit. He tried on a sleeveless V-neck navy blue sweater. He rolled his eyes as he heard his sister's voice still taunting him. "I like it," Mallory said. "You are finally mixing it up with a little bit of style." He knew full well this sweater looked almost exactly like one he had at home, only missing his initials monogrammed on it, the very one she once teased him about saying it made him look like a big blue bath towel. Besides, how would she know what he was wearing anyway? He didn't even leave the fitting room yet. He did his best to tune her out as he tried on the next thing he had picked.
Meanwhile, just outside the entrance to the fitting room, Marty McFly looked at the young lady he had never seen before in his life with a look of confusion. "Do I know you?" he asked her.
Mallory just giggled. She understood his teasing as she had never complemented him on his outfit before. "Quit kidding around. Just get in there and try on something else," she said. "I think that one should go in the keeper pile."
Marty did his best to laugh it off. He knew the timeline had changed and therefore she very well might be a girl he was supposed to know now. He even noticed she had a copy of his father's book Match Made in Space. "Did you like the book?" Marty asked.
"Did you hit your head on something in there? Did you forget? We are getting the book signed for Jennifer." Mallory rolled her eyes at him. She figured he was just teasing her about the fact that she doesn't do much reading other then magazines like Cosmo and Vanity Fair.
"Maybe." Marty nodded with a chuckle doing his best to pretend his question was another joke. He assumed she meant his girlfriend Jennifer Parker. He couldn't help wondering why he wouldn't just take care of that himself if that was something his girlfriend wanted. Then he spotted Jennifer, who was currently grabbing a few more shirts for him to try on. "I will catch up with you later."
Marty went over to Jennifer. Mallory's jaw dropped as she watched him talking with another girl. They smiled at each other and he even put his arm around her, then he kissed her. Marty returned to the fitting room carrying a few more shirts. Mallory gave him a dirty look as he passed by. Marty wasn't quite sure what her problem was.
"I can't believe you just did that. You creep," Mallory yelled. "I will just go to the book signing myself." She left very quickly. She couldn't believe her brother would cheat on Lauren like that with a total stranger. If Alex thought she wouldn't tell her about that, he had another thing coming.
Of course, Jennifer heard her, and she rushed over. "What is her problem?" she asked Marty.
"I was hoping you could tell me," Marty answered.
He went back into the fitting room and behind the curtains of a private stall and tried on the next shirt. He looked it over in the mirror and he liked what he saw. His girl sure knew his tastes and was very good at helping him pick out clothes. He definitely planned to return the favor later.
Alex heard Mallory too. "What is her problem," Alex quietly whispered to himself. He quickly slipped back into his normal clothes and left the fitting room.
An attractive girl with medium length sandy blond hair latched on to him. "Hey that was quick. Not your usual style, but that would be perfect for a job interview." She kissed him on the cheek.
Marty stepped out to go show Jennifer what he was wearing. His heart sank at what he saw. He saw the back of a guy's head and his Jennifer kissing him. He felt like belting this guy one, but then he realized this was all Jennifer's doing as the guy did his best to push her away.
"Lady please, I have a girlfriend," Alex declared.
"Well dump her." Jennifer thought he was joking.
"Maybe I should," Marty said as he came out of the fitting room.
"Two?" Jennifer was stunned. Alex turned around and looked at him. "I thought he was you. He could be your long-lost twin." She pointed at Alex.
Marty and Alex looked each other over. Except for the difference in fashion tastes she was right. They could pass as identical twins. The resemblance was uncanny. At first Marty thought another version of himself got stuck back in time, but if that were the case, they would both suddenly pass out like Jennifer did when she met her future self.
"That would certainly explain a lot." Alex nodded. "My parents are nothing like me. It is a pleasure meeting you. You are a handsome guy."
"Likewise," Marty snickered, then they shook hands.
Jennifer laughed knowing full well he just complimented himself too. "Wait, are you with the pretty brunette that was trying to talk to me earlier."
"Pretty?" Jennifer glared at him.
"Not that I noticed." Marty tried to talk his way out of it.
"That was probably my sister, Mallory," Alex admitted. "I really should be catching up with her." Then he headed to the bookstore.
"He is going to see dad at the book signing. I would love to see dad's reaction to him," Marty chuckled.
"Let's go check it out." Jennifer couldn't help it but to laugh too.
Alex joined Mallory in line. "I know what I saw and if you think I am not going to tell Lauren, you have another thing coming," Mallory scolded Alex.
"Hey, she kissed me, not the other way around," Alex said.
"No, I saw. You kissed her," Mallory insisted.
"I did not. That was probably the other guy," Alex said.
"You mean to tell me there was another guy there that looked exactly like you?" Mallory asked.
"Yes!" Alex nodded.
"If you are going to lie about it, you are going to have to come up with a better lie than that!" Mallory knocked him on the head with the book.
"Hey, that hurt." Alex pulled the book out of her hands. They continued to argue, but of course Mallory refused to believe him. They didn't even realize it when their turn came up.
"Who do I make this out to?" George McFly asked. He asked twice before he got an answer. Alex passed the book to him.
"Jennifer," Mallory answered.
George looked up at them. "To Jennifer, is that one 'n' or two?" Then he looked more closely at Alex believing this was his own son. "So, I take it this is for your GIRLFRIEND?"
"No, actually my sister," Alex said.
"Right," George gritted his teeth and made a brief scowl. He really disapproved of this but refused to cause a scene. He knew he needed to remain professional for now, but he definitely planned on having a few words with his son tonight about not cheating on his girlfriend.
Marty could tell his father was angry, but he wasn't quite sure why, but then Jennifer said it. "He thinks you are cheating on me."
"No, would never happen," Marty said.
Marty and Jennifer sidestepped the line and went right up to the front table. "Hey dad, the resemblance is uncanny, wouldn't you say," Marty said to his father as he pointed to Alex.
"Ah, oh," Mallory looked back in forth between the two of them. George looked at his son with Jennifer and the other young man who looked just like him. He too realized his mistake and was very glad he did not make a scene.
