~Chapter One: New Chance~
I had never experienced this much pain in all my life. The treehouse was burned down, Father had won. I dropped to my knees in exhaustion, seeing Father's mechs carry off the rest of Sector V. I wanted to help them, but, I couldn't.
"I didn't think you would've understood. But there was no other way." Father approached me, the asphalt of the concrete outside my burning home searing hot and bubbling. I winced, feeling Father get close enough the heat of his burning body was enough to make me sweat instantly. "There is no world where children can live in disobedience."
Father fixed the pipe in his mouth. "Tell me, do you understand the concept of dying? I know you're rather young." Father chuckled. "But I've endured enough pain! For enough time!" I felt my face grow hotter as Father's flames expanded due to his rage. "And it's time for it to be gone."
"Wh-What?" I asked.
Father knelt in front of me, sweat pouring across my face from how hot everything had become. At the same time, everything was cold. I didn't really get what he was saying, but I felt a chill inside of me from his word.
"See I know the other children. They'll struggle for a time. And then I'll change them quickly into adults. Along with the children of the entire world." Father said. "But you. You! YOU!" Father balled his fists at me as his flames grew again. "I don't even want to see your face grown-up! You've caused me too much trouble. And like every child, you deserve to be punished for misbehaving."
I reached for my ketchup hand canon but he kicked it out of my hand. I gasped in pain when Father gripped my chin, burning it and looked into my eyes with those burning charcoal flames he had for pupils. "The best part is your friends won't remember you even existed! It'll be like you, the biggest nuisance ever! Was just a joke!"
I had no idea what he was going to do to me. But I knew Father was not going to give me a chance to ever stop him. "I-I don't care what happens to me. But I will stop you. No matter what it takes, I will stop you. I promise."
Father raised an eyebrow, his expression going blank for a moment.
Suddenly, he roared so loudly in laughter leaning his head back towards the dark sky that my ears hurt. "WHAT!? You, this little insignificant child I'm going to turn into ashes! Is going to stop me! When I've already beaten you for the last time!?"
He kept laughing like a madman before looking at me. "I can't imagine your pain. That your last memory is going to be of your failure. And how your friends will never even be able to remember it!"
Father opened his palm at me, a small blaze growing that I stared into as he cackled. "I'm going to enjoy this more than anything else I ever will!" he looked down at me. "Any last words?"
"I already told you," I grunted, my entire body feeling colder yet hotter than ever. "I'm going to stop you if it's the last thing I do."
Father kept chuckling so loudly the ground seemed to shake. "It isn't!"
The flames in his hand expanded outward toward my face. I closed my eyes bracing for it. Suddenly, I opened them hearing a voice I had not ever heard before.
"Nigel! Nigel! Get up, Nigel!"
I shot up from my bed and looked around my bedroom. It wasn't the one I had in the treehouse that's for sure. I seemed to be in someone else's bedroom. Hm, this is reminding me of the time I woke up as President of the United States.
Feeling nervous, I ran to the bedroom's bathroom and looked in the mirror.
No, it was much worse. Much worse. I was a teenager. I was much taller, my skin was oilier, and I had a faint bit of hair on my face. I did what any good Kids Next Door Operative would do, and screamed loudly at the top of my lungs.
