A/N: I'm bored and there is no reason for this story to exist. Try not to get stabbed today.
Shauna's POV:
Shauna sat on her bed, angrily staring at the wall. She was tired of this, her parents were not dead, she was not a queen, and she wasn't going to rule. And- Shauna's head snapped to the door which had been thrown open by some sort of masked figure. Her eyes flitted from the dagger in his hand to his eyes whose glare slowly softened into something of disbelief.
"Wait, wait, wait! I'm supposed to kill you?" the boy in front of Shauna asked, pocketing the already-bloody dagger in his hand before throwing his hands up in the air in confusion. A black handkerchief with a carefully embroidered fire emblem was placed over his mouth and nose, muffling his voice. A dark red substance that Shauna did not want to think about covered parts of his clothing. Something told her it wasn't his own.
"What?" Shauna asked, her eyebrows furrowed. Was she supposed to be scared? Screaming? Absolutely terrified? Probably yes?
"I cannot kill a queen!"
"Princess," Shauna corrected.
"If you think your parents are coming back after that storm, you're crazy," the boy said, rolling his eyes.
"Who are you?" Shauna asked, glaring at him, "Wait, more importantly, how the fuck did you get up here?"
"Oh, didn't know that a princess could curse," the boy mumbled.
"Who are you?" Shauna asked again, getting up from under the sheets. She stood close to her wall, knocking it three times swiftly. Lynn would be here any second.
"You're wearing pants?" the boy asked, looking at her, puzzled.
"What? What else would I be wearing?"
"A poofy victorian dress?"
"Just, forget it. Who are you?" Shauna asked more forcefully. She would kill this… bloodied boy.
"Fine," the boy said sighing, "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die," Shauna stared at him in disbelief. Why would he quote the dumbest movie in existence at a time like this?
"Ok, only one of those three things are true," the boy said, after a few seconds of silence. Over the course of three seconds, Shauna flung open the drawer next to her bed and pulled out six 6.5 inch throwing knives.
"You gonna use those on me, Princess?"
"You have five seconds before I gut you like a fucking fish. Who are you?" Shauna hissed at the bloodied boy.
"Wow ok. I really don't want to kill you, Princess. Like seriously," the boy said, holding up his hands in defeat. Shauna gripped the knife, deciding on whether to throw one or not. She didn't want to kill him. Well, not yet.
"Name," she ordered, "last chance,"
"Zeke Pedrad," he said quickly. The look on his face, told her that he regretted saying it.
"Shauna," Shauna said out of habit.
"Really? Had no idea, Princess. Your face is only everywhere,"
"What do you want?"
"God, this is awkward," Zeke said, letting out a laugh, "I want to kill you. But like not really. I wasn't sure who I was supposed to be, ya know," he made a slicing motion, "but I didn't think it was gonna be the princess,"
"You mean to tell me, you climbed up to the second fanciest place in the palace, snuck into one of the most heavily guarded rooms, climbed up a set winding of stairs, walked through another heavily guarded area, and then waltzed into the princess quarters, having no idea you were going to murder royalty," Shauna said, glaring, disbelief and anger prominent in her features.
"Slipped my mind? I mean I thought you were… someone else. Like some mean-looking, ugly witch or something. Not royalty though. I don't kill nice royalty. Maybe like an evil adviser?" Zeke said, confused.
"Are you saying only ugly people are evil?" Shauna said, cutting his rambling off. If they were under different circumstances, she might've found this… cute.
"No. Also, um, you might want to upgrade on security. Those guys were literal idiots. No offense though,"
"Oh," Shauna gripped her knives tighter.
"Look, I don't want to hurt you, okay? I don't think you want to hurt me either," Zeke said slowly.
"What makes you think I don't want to hurt you?"
"Well, you haven't thrown those knives yet… or stabbed me. And you're talking to me so," Zeke said, trailing off.
"Maybe I've already called for help and I'm stalling," Shauna countered. She had called for help. Lynn just hadn't bothered to show up yet.
"Look," Zeke said, taking a step closer to her, "I studied this place for months. I've walked through this palace casually for the last hour. I know there isn't any way you could call for help without screaming, maybe. And if you did scream, the guards who are forbidden from entering this part of the palace, would take at least a minute to climb those stairs and get to you, if they even hear you,"
"Stay back," Shauna said, stepping back instinctively. She swore she could hear someone walking in the hallways. Zeke must have heard it too because he turned around for a few seconds.
"I'm not going to hurt you," Zeke said, pulling down his black handkerchief, revealing his face, "Ok? I don't kill nice royalty,"
"Why not?"
"From my experience, when you kill nice royalty, not so nice royalty take over,"
"You should leave," Shauna said, looking at the ground. Then, it happened in a flash, she watched her sister, Lynn, hit the boy on the head, hard. With a mirror. He slumped to the ground, knocked out, glass shards surrounding him.
"Shauna, are you ok?" Lynn asked rushing up to her, "I will fucking kill him if he touched you,"
"I'm fine. Why did you do that?!" Shauna hissed.
"Why did I do that? You called me with knocks and then didn't respond when I knocked back. I come to your room to find a man in the middle of the night talking about how no one would hear of you screamed for help. So that's why I hit him on the head with a mirror, Shauna. Also, I need a new mirror,"
"Ok, thanks. But he's not a bad person!" Shauna said, calming herself.
"Oh," Lynn said, before thinking for a few seconds, "Oh, Oh, should I leave? God, I'm sorry,"
"What?"
"Aren't you and him… um,"
"No! No, Lynn!"
"So what is he doing here?"
"I don't know!"
"Hello, my name is... Inigo Montoy. You killed... my father, prepare to die," the boy mumbled slowly, his face on the ground.
"What the hell?" Lynn said, looking at him.
"My head hurts," Zeke muttered after a few minutes.
"I'm gonna restrain him while he's still out of it," Lynn said, glaring at him.
"With what?" Shauna asked. Lynn looked her in the eye as she reached down her shirt before pulling up a few handfuls of rope.
"Oh my god… did you just?" Shauna said, trailing off.
"Perks of being flat-chested," Lynn said, shrugging before bending down to tie the boy's hands behind his back. She then removed the dagger from his pocket.
"That cannot be safe,"
"So? It's not that much anyway,"
"Oh my god, Lynn. How did you even get it to look so… even?" Shauna said, letting out a sigh.
"Magic," Lynn said, pulling the boy roughly out of the glass and up.
"Be gentle!" Shauna hissed between clenched teeth as she watched Lynn tie him to one of the legs on the bed frame. She bit her lip as she saw blood drip from his forehead, probably from the glass.
"You know, under different circumstances, I might've been into this," Zeke said, still slightly out of it, letting out a quiet laugh. Lynn smacked his head hard.
"Ouch! It was a joke,"
"Shut the hell up," Lynn said.
"Ok, now this is the type of royalty that I might've had an easier time murdering caus-" Zeke said looking at Shauna before he was kicked in the stomach.
"You were going to murder her?" Lynn shrieked, kicking him harder.
"No! No! He wasn't!" Shauna said, trying to pull her sister back.
"In all fairness, Princess, I kinda was. Before I met you, I mean," Zeke said, slightly curling.
"She's your queen," Lynn hissed, making another lunge towards Zeke, only to be stopped by Shauna.
"I'm not a queen!" Shauna yelled, clenching her hands into a fist.
"Yes, you are," Lynn said, turning back to her sister.
"No, I'm not! They'll be coming back any day now-" Shauna said, only to be cut off by her sister.
"They were supposed to come back weeks ago. They're not coming back. If you think they are, you're dreaming. Wake up, Shauna. Your coronation will be next week. You're too naive," Lynn snarled.
"I'm not naive," Shauna said, flitting her eyes between Lynn and Zeke.
"Um, I should probably go," Zeke said, pulling gently on the ropes around his hands.
"Fine, you're not naive. Kill him," Lynn said, shrugging and walking to stand next to her sister.
"I'm not gonna kill him!" Shauna shrieked.
"You have every right to, he broke into your quarter with intent to kill you. He probably would've killed you if I hadn't come. So get on with it," Lynn said, gesturing to the boy.
"I don't want to," Shauna whispered. Zeke looked at her in the eye, as if questioning what she was going to do. His eyes flitted to Lynn, who looked just about ready to murder him, "and it wouldn't be smart," she said standing a little straighter, staring at Zeke for a moment before looking at Lynn.
"It would be eliminating a threat!" Lynn yelled.
"Well, it would be eliminating a small… threat. Um, but if we kept him alive and found out who sent Ze- this boy, then we'd be stopping a flow of threats that could be coming into the castle,"
"I'll take him to the prison then. And I'll be sure to… dispose of the guards that failed to do the one, and only, job they had been given," Lynn said, walking quickly towards Zeke.
"I don't think that's necessary," Shauna said, panicked.
"It's important that we cut the weak links, right? Anyways, we have our information. Now it's time to get rid of those who commited treason, right?"
"Right," Shauna said through gritted teeth.
"Great," Lynn said.
"Where are we going?" Zeke asked, watching as Lynn untied him from the bed.
"That is none of your concern. Try anything and I'll knock you out," she spat, glaring at him as she tied his hands so they were in front of him. Shauna watched as they left her room.
"See you later, Princess. Open your balcony door, it's nice out tonight," he said, shooting her a smirk as Lynn pulled him forward with the rope.
A few seconds of silence passed, the only noise being the distant sound of footsteps. Shauna glanced at the balcony door before getting up and opening it (solely because she wanted to, not because the boy told her to). It was nice out, not too cold nor hot.
"Shit!" Shauna turned around, quickly heading back in, a loud crash following the shout. Lynn? She heard quick footsteps coming closer and closer to her room. She gripped her throwing knives again, ready for whoever was about to appear.
"You!" Shauna said, her eyes widening.
"Yeah, me, Zeke. You might need two new mirrors," he said, panting as he closed her door and locked it.
"What?"
"No time to talk. You're only in trouble if you get caught and there is no way in hell I'm getting caught," he said, blocking the door by pulling over a dresser.
"I could kill you right now," Shauna said, holding up her knife.
"We've been over this," he said, rolling his eyes and giving her a look. He pulled the handkerchief that hung around his neck back up so it was covering his face once again. There were rushed footsteps coming to her room.
"Shauna!" Lynn screeched from the other side of the door, banging on it loudly. Zeke made his way to the balcony.
"What are you doing?" Shauna hissed.
"Don't worry about it," Zeke said, climbing on the ledge.
"Hey!"
"See you later, Princess," he said, turning around to face her one last time.
"Zeke!" She whisper-yelled as she marched towards him. Zeke stepped off the balcony, causing her to stop, her eyes wide. She ran to the ledge, looking over it frantically. She couldn't see a dead body (only slightly relieving) but she could see two figures, running rather quickly on the rooftops (which, in all honesty, should have frightened her to death). Instead, a small smile curled up her lips. It felt like something out of a book or dream.
"Shauna!" Lynn screamed once again, banging on the door more roughly. Her smile disappeared and she found herself wanting to jump off the roof just as that boy- Zeke- had. Instead, she slowly made her way back in, closing the door carefully, all while Lynn continued screaming and hitting her fists against the door.
"Back to reality," Shauna mumbled to herself.
A/N: Ok so I wrote this on the Ides of March (When Caesar was stabbed to death) so that's why I said try not to get stabbed. I didn't remove it because I figured it was good information in general. God this is so bad. It has no plot whatsoever and was literally just so I could write something for fun. Sorry about any mistakes :( I didn't proofread.
Still not romance but it's something? I need to do research on how characters pine for each other lol.
In answer to LanaLang641's question, "What's in the box?"
My answer is: Sex toys. If you don't believe me I fucking dare you check to see if I'm lying.
Ask me questions and I'll answer them next time I update. And that's the note I think I'm gonna end on. Bye
