Kana and Chiaki's first time, because their entire segment of the manga was them not getting it on.

Nothing majorly explicit which is why I haven't rated it an M but kids, this is about sex, don't say I didn't warn ya.

See end notes for more comments.

Chiaki stood outside the hotel bedroom door.

(yes, it was as suggestive as it could get, and he wasn't helping with the suggestive thoughts that were flooding his mind as he stood outside, fumbling with the door key). But amongst the haze in his brain and the uncomfortable tightness of his dress pants, one doubt still niggled at the back of Chiaki's mind.

Did she really want him?

He wasn't proud to say this, but...he was still a virgin. and so was Kana. It had never been a grand decision of abstinence or a spoken agreement to wait. They just never got it together and did it. They had only gotten as far as a tender kisses in his bedroom - when he snaked a hand up her shirt and tried to grab her bra, she shrieked and brought his little brother running into the room.

That romantic tryst ended. Abruptly.

Yet for all their...failure in that particular department, they had somehow made it here, after 5 years.

Their wedding night.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. When they had stumbled in with their luggage, half elated and giddy with happiness and half dying to pass out from exhaustion, the bed had loomed before him, and he had froze. Muttering something about getting a drink, he had walked out - walked out on her!

Well, if she hadn't regretted marrying him yet, he'd better make it up to her.

He opened the door.

"I thought you left for a drink." her tone of amusement left him in a state of blank relief. He looked up, ready with excuses, and saw the worry in her eyes.

She bit her lip and looked down, and he couldn't resist, he went to her, climbed up on the bed and...

...lay down on her lap. Her eyes were brimming with tears now and he wanted to kick himself, why did he always make her unhappy, hadn't he just promised at the ceremony to bring her happiness...?

She resolutely blinked her tears away and stared out the hotel window.

"I'm really happy, Chiaki." she whispered. "Thank you for loving me, even the bad parts lumped in with the good."

His large hand covered hers. The pulse of their hearts slowed together, now matching evenly with each beat.

"I love you too."

A comfortable silence rested between them before he spoke again.

"hey...kana?"

"yeah, chiaki?"

"I've never done this before-"

"neither have I" she quickly interrupted.

"...but I love you and I don't want to screw it up."

she looked at him, earnest and somber, and caught hold of his face with both hands, gently tilting it towards her.

"Its going to hurt and I'm going to be scared," she told him, eyes now tearless and sparkling despite the fear she felt. "But I love you. that's what it meant the first time I decided I was going to give myself to you. All of me yours, and all of yours mine."

He didn't know how to top that in words, so he sat up and gently pushed her down, one hand supporting himself, the other coming up to gently stroke her hair.

She felt his breath, warm on her cheek, and the sweet sensation as his lips came down to meet hers.

After a short while, they closed the drapes together, and opened a new chapter of their relationship.

It was a relief, Kana supposed, to find it was more bearable and better than she had expected. For all the times he had been insensitive and immature, Chiaki was a very tender lover.

She looked at him now, mouth slightly open and snoring, one hand resting on her shoulder, the other flopped clumsily out on his pillow. Those hands that had grazed her and touched her and set fire to places she had never felt before, and the memory of last night sent a shiver of pleasure down her spine.

For all the years he had demanded for more, he had never demanded anything from her last night. For all the times he had made her feel unloved (and then frantically tried to make up for it), he had never made her feel so loved, both physically and emotionally.

She had seen his face when he broke something in her and something else broke inside of him - somewhere in a dark crevasse of his heart a foreign emotion had stirred, where her pain twisted and turned and became his pain, and the tears that fell had not been hers but his. They had stayed like that for what had felt like a long time, neither saying anything nor needing to say anything, just looking at each other intimately, souls touching.

And when it had ended he had not retreated, but fought the drowsiness to carry her into the bathroom, draw up a hot bath and promptly dozed off as he helped her clean herself. She had to stop him from berating himself when she woke him up, got both of them coffee, and then lay on the white duvet as he massaged her before the pair dozed off to sleep again.

She caressed his cheek, not minding the stale breath wafting to her side, her heart cherishing this individual, this man, who could be so bold and brash but never stopped loving her.

"Kana."

Her hand froze, the whisper of his name halting her movements.

"i...i love youu."

Her face relaxed into a smile.

The new Mrs Uchimura slept.
