I love the A Song of Ice and Fire books and have mixed feelings about the show. I am also a Hunger Games fan and the result is this SYOC for the former book series. In the process of creating this story, for which I have a fairly set storyline, I have drawn not only on my own knowledge of the books, practically Fire and Blood, but also on the vast resources of the interest. I have included a brief history of Westeros up to this point at the bottom of the page, along with the information about submitting characters or houses, all of that information is also on my profile. I have been doing a slight rewrite of this tale and hope that all of you will enjoy it and please, please, please, submit. My apologies for rambling a bit, I will get out of your hair now, but please review and submit!

Chapter One: Lorilynn I

Dragonstone may have been the ancient and well-fortified seat of House Targaryen, but Lorilynn Flowers sometimes wondered if Aegon I had conqueror Westeros just to get off the dreary island. The island did have a harsh beauty, covered as it was in high and stony cliffs that displayed breathtaking views—not to mention the small wildflowers hidden in small mosey places. Yet, for all the charms it offered, Lorilynn could not love it, for it was not her home in the North.

Tonight, a storm was raging outside the castle's barred doors and tightly shuttered windows. The wind's howl was like that of a direwolf—a dark and haunting sound; Lorilynn had once heard one of the massive animal's hunting cries, and she hoped and prayed to never hear such a sound again. Yet here she was, far from her northern home, carrying for the seizure-prone Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen.

Thinking of Jae—for that was what most called Prince Jaehaerys—brought Lorilynn to her feet. She had not checked on him in several hours, and the last thing she needed was for something to happen to him because she had not been vigilant enough. King Aenar did not trust her, of that Lorilynn was all too aware; he believed she would poison Jae given the right moment.

The man was not—she had to admit—all wrong. Should the day ever come when Lorilynn could not keep Jae out of the hands of his older sister Princess Aelora, then she would take his life. But not before—never before. She had promised Crown Prince Aerion that she would keep Jae safe, no matter what it took. Bastard-born she might have been, but Lorilynn was nothing if not loyal.

Reaching her prince's bedroom door Lorilynn paused for a moment, catching her breath, before knocking.

"Jae," Lorilynn called, "are you ok?"

No answer. The room on the other side remained silent.

"Jae?" she tried again, opening the door.

The room beyond was dark—the fire having burned out hours before—but Lorilynn could still make out the murky shape on the bed. Jae was curled into a ball in its centre, looking terribly small and helpless. His already frail body was wracked with shivers, and the room stank of sweat and fear.

Her feet making not a sound on the soft Myrish rugs, Lorilynn was at her prince's side in seconds. Not wanting to cause any more discomfort than was necessary, she rolled him onto his back and sat with his head resting in her lap. She recognized the signs of a seizure and knew there was nothing more she could do for him at the moment.

"I-" he cut himself off, "Lynn, help me, please,"

Lorilynn felt her heart, as it so often did, start to break for the boy laying in her arms. There was nothing she could do for him in these moments of terror when he lost control, and everything went to hell. She could only talk and pray to the Gods—hers and his—that things would be ok in the end.

"Shh," Lorilynn whispered, pushing strands of sweat-soaked hair off his face, "it will be over soon."

She was not lying—not really—at least. The seizure did come to a shutting end not long after she spoke, leaving Jae trembling and utterly exhausted in her arms.

He looks so young, Lorilynn thought, her emotions a mix of sadness and bitterness, so young and so small.

Jae looked and often sounded like a young child—a toddler, even—yet truly looking into his face was like looking at a thousand-year-old ghost. His eyes did not help, she supposed, red, pupilless orbs that seemed to see into the very soul.

"What was that?" Lorilynn asked, realizing Jae was saying—or rather repeating—something.

The words that left Jae's mouth were, in a strange way, his own. But they were also the words of the God— whose Gods, Lorilynn did not know—but they were the words of Gods; the words of fate,

"Three Queens of ancient blood crowned,

One of Iron, one of Fire, one of Gold.

Two enthroned by their own claims.

The other in her husband's name.

Only one will see the end of strife,

One dead by the Dragonfire,

And the other taking her own life.

A Prince imprisoned, his voice gone,

His hand by force his sister takes.

But in shadows and blood,

Does his true his consort conspire,

And by silent poison, deadly and clear,

Will the kingdom fall to fire and fear."

The last word faded away and, with it, seemed to go the last of Jae's strength. The boy's eyes fluttered closed, and he grew truly still in Lorilynn's arms. The only moment in his body became the steady, if shallow, rise and fall of his chest.

"Don't worry, Jae," Lorilynn whispered, holding her prince tight against her chest, "I'll get you through this. No matter what."

Notes on the History

Ok. So the character we know from Fire and Blood as Aegon the Uncrowned—who was killed above the God's Eye by his uncle Maegor the Cruel—survived and was crowned Aegon the Just or Aegon II. Maegor did rule for a handful of years, but it still ended with him being found dead on the Iron Throne. Aegon II would become king after him, however, he would died after only four years of rule (48 to 51 AC). A Grate Council was then called to choose between his nine-year-old daughter and only child, Princess Aerea and his younger brother; the king we know as Jaehaerys the Conciliator.

Jaehaerys would be chosen as the next king and his rule went pretty just as it did in canon. The only big change being that Baelon got eaten by Balerion when he hit the dragon as a child. This left Alyssa without a husband and not wanting to wed she feed most of her suitors to her dragon. The reason and year of Aemon's death was also changed, but I'll get into that at a later time. His daughter, Rhaenys—the Queen that Never Was—reminds the same so far. Children, husband, and life included, although she does have a different dragon.

The current king—Aenar—is Aerea's son. He was the one who Rhaenys was passed over for. He wed his second cousin—Aemma Arryn—whose name should be known to most of you. Aemma married Aenar despite the age difference between them and is the mother of the current heirs to the Iron Throne. Unfortunately, she died in 105 AC from lingering health problems left by the birth of Prince Jaehaerys.

I think that covers everything, but if you have further questions, don't hesitate to let me know. I know this was a bit long, but I wanted to try and cover as many details as I could. As an extra add on, in case I forgot to mention it already, this story takes place in 115 AC.
