Phoenix Wright's Desk
Phoenix was in the middle of filling all the paperwork concerning their last case. It wasn't much fun, really, but it had to be done, and both him and Athena were working on it.
Ugh… I hate filling paperwork! Phoenix thought. First, it's boring and second it's useless in my opinion… It's not like somebody was really going to control if we are doing that correctly!
Suddenly, Phoenix's phone beeped, which turned the lawyer's attention to the little device. He definitely couldn't be considered tech-savvy and was still using a flip phone in 2031… Athena had offered him some help to get better at that kind of stuff, but he had refused, claiming that "his good old phone could still make calls", and that it was "all he wanted".
Looks like I've got a text… Hmm, oh, it's from Iris!
Iris: Hi Feenie, I'll make a detour by the supermarket to fill the fridge a little. Please call me when you leave the office. Love you.
Phoenix: Hi my love, don't worry, I should be finished with the papers soon, I'll give you a call before coming home. Love you.
There was nobody Phoenix would rather get a text from than his beloved Iris. He loved her so much, he sometimes couldn't even believe it… And to say they would get married in only three months!
Iris, my love… I wonder how I came to love a woman as much as I love her… I know we come a long way, but frankly, I wouldn't have had it any other way. Seeing her smile… it is truly a sight to behold. Heh, I guess the love of your life knows how to charm you, Phoenix! And to say that she wasn't even the girl I first fell in love with…
He sighed before thinking back to that fateful day when he met Dahlia Hawthorne.

Reading Room
Phoenix was quietly reading the book his teacher had asked him to present in class the next week. He didn't find it very interesting, but he still had to read it otherwise he'd get in trouble. However, his reading was interrupted when he looked up and saw a beautiful redhead about to sit right next to him.
Geez, she's gorgeous! Phoenix thought. I wonder if she came here to borrow a book…?
"Hmm, is this seat taken?", she asked him.
"Huh? O-Oh, no, you can sit.", Phoenix answered, still surprised that the girl he had just complimented mentally was talking to him.
"Thank you. May I ask you what you are reading?", she went on to ask.
"Oh, it's nothing out of the ordinary, just a book about modern art… I'm majoring art at Ivy University and I've got to present it so…", he told her.
"What a coincidence!", the girl said, "I'm also studying at Ivy U! I'm majoring literature however."
"Literature you say? Hmm, I can't say I've ever been good at literature…", Phoenix joked.
She laughed a bit, before adding: "Well, I guess not everyone can like everything… But it's nice to meet a fellow student here of all places!"
"Yep!", Phoenix agreed cheerily, "My name is Phoenix actually. Phoenix Wright."
Don't choke here Phoenix! You might finally have a shot there!
"Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Phoenix! My name's Dahlia Hawthorne.", Dahlia told the simple-minded student, "May I call you Feenie? You are too cute to simply be called Phoenix if you ask me… Don't get me wrong; it's a beautiful name but…"
"No prob!", Phoenix said, "And I most definitely can return the compliment…", he added, faking confidence.
Am I really in the middle of flirting with a girl that beautiful, and moreover, this kind? Is this a dream? Am I gonna wake up?!
"Thank you!", the literature student told Phoenix, "It's rare to see men as classy as you are, Feenie!"
"Heh heh…", he scratched the back of his head, "I believe there's no point in being rude with girls, so I made my creed to always be nice among ladies. Would you mind if I called you Dollie? I can't let you nickname me without nicknaming you back!". They both chuckled at the remark, and Dahlia kindly accepted the nickname:
"Sure!", she simply replied.
"Great!", was Phoenix's reaction, "Then, Dollie, may I ask why you came to the library?"
"Well, it's approximately for the same reason as you: we are currently studying the representation of justice in novels through the course of history. And I was wondering if I could find some books on that topic in the courthouse. I haven't found anything yet however…", Dahlia explained.
"Do you want me to help you find what you need?", he immediately offered.
"Oh, that would be very nice of you Feenie!", she said cheerily, "Of course, I'd love to!"
"Then let's get searching! You said you needed novels about justice… Maybe over there…"
Phoenix stood up and went in direction of a display of 18th century novels. Dahlia followed after him.
"Hmm…", Phoenix wondered, "I don't know as much as you do about books, but maybe this could work?"
"Let's see…The Place of Judgement…", she thought, "I seem to remember my teacher talking about this book… Oh, well, it will have to do! Thanks Feenie!"
"No problem Dollie! The pleasure is mine.", he told her, all smiles.
"Oh surely not! I must offer you something for helping me!", Dahlia told him, "There, please accept this necklace as a mark of my gratitude.". She handed him a necklace holding a small glass pendant filled with a translucid liquid.
"Oh no, I can't accept that!", he said in disbelief, "I just did what I had to by helping you! No need to give me anything!"
"Pleeeeease…", she begged, "I don't like not to be even with people…"
"…", Phoenix remained silent for a while, "Very well, if you are so adamant on giving it to me, I guess I can't go against your wish!", he told her happily.
She took the necklace and put it around her new acquittance's neck.
"Thanks Dollie! It truly is a beautiful necklace."
"You're welcome Feenie, I'm happy to give it to someone as lovely as you!", the redhead told the spiky-haired young man.
And as she finished speaking, the librarian spoke up to announce that the reading room would close for lunch break.
"Oh! It must be 11 already…", Dahlia told Phoenix, "I'm sorry Feenie, but I'll have to get going…"
"Oh, okay… Very well then, it was a pleasure meeting you Dollie!", he stated.
"I'm sure we'll see each other again at Ivy U though. If you want, we could eat together on Thursday?", she proposed.
"Why not. I'd love to! But I won't hold you any longer if you've got to go. I'll see you on Thursday then!"
"Okay, bye Feenie, and thanks again!", Dahlia finished with.
"It was nothing, don't worry, and thanks for the necklace again, it's beautiful.", the art student said.
"You're welcome Feenie, bye."
And on that note, she left the reading room, leaving Phoenix alone in a state he had never been in before.
Woah… Was Phoenix's first reaction as Dahlia left. I can't believe I made it! Phoenix, it looks like you got yourself a date! Who would have thought! And with the most beautiful girl I might have seen in my life! Luck seems to be on my side right now…
However, and he didn't know it at the time, Phoenix had gotten himself in a case of major importance, and his life would never be the same again after that morning…

And to say that this accursed necklace I accepted as a present could have cost me my life… Actually, I should be glad it wasn't the case since others weren't as lucky unfortunately… Phoenix relativized. Diego Armando… You truly didn't deserve what happened to you… You changed the Chief's life and what did you get as a result? A bitch basically ended your life. I hope you rest in peace now.
In fact, the necklace Dahlia had given Phoenix on that fateful day had been more than just a jewel. The pendant hanging on it was a container filled with poison, a poison that Dahlia had used against a lawyer who knew too much of her criminal ways. This attorney was Diego Armando, better known as Godot, Mia Fey's lover and one of the best at defending the innocent. He had been the one mentoring Mia, so you could say that Phoenix inherited some of his techniques when she taught him the ways of the defense attorney.
And to say that all this could have been avoided if I had been a bit more careful… Heh, talk about a gentleman I was, trusting the Devil herself! Who knows, if my youth had not made me lose all my lucidity, it could have gone differently… Thankfully, I've learned to trust only reliable people thanks to my job. And it's to prevent criminals like Dahlia to walk free that I'm fighting for justice every time I step into the courtroom. Well, at least it wasn't all for naught: I never would have met Iris if I had not met her twin first… Hmpf, I'm fortunate she was the one meeting me on that Thursday, Dahlia would have poisoned my lunch for sure!
