Author's note; In the excitement of waiting for episode 12, I've managed to come up with a new ship! So this is a one-shot for Kai x Bingo, which I'm unsure if I wanna call Kaibo or Bingai? XD
The air was cold and dry in the confined space of the office, light from the shimmering sun beamed through the cracked window blinds, illuminating small areas as flecks of dust floated lazily through the air. Bingo stared down at his paperwork, his burnt golden fur shifted softly as he took a deep breath.
The scientist was currently lost in thought, the memories filling his vision as the world shifted hazily around him.
He'd been walking down the hall after a long day of work, the setting sun cast a warm glow on the long hallway as the young fox stopped to look out of one of the tall crystalline windows. He let out a small squeak as a darting black figure bumped into him and knocked him over. Bingo shook his head and looked at what was laying on top of him, the midnight furred fox looked up at him and smiled shyly.
"A-Apologies, greatest!"
He sputtered out, standing and offering his hand to the scientist-in-training. Bingo accepted it, dusting himself off silently.
"It's okay..."
he responded, his voice soft as he looked down. He recognized this fox by his unusual black and gold fur, and even more unusual speaking patterns. His name was Kai, and he was new to the castle, the two were only about seven years old at the time.
"Okay art thou-self?"
Bingo swallowed nervously, still looking at his feet.
"I'm fine..."
Kai perked up and smiled.
"Well as varied, I'stve bound while thy corder twice thou?"
"Err..."
No one could really understand most of what Kai said, Gojian dialect being incredibly uncommon. The black fox seemed to pick up on his antiquates troubles, clearing his throat he repeated.
"Um, it is.. good, myself shalt head to thy corder room, thou join?"
Bingo looked up, briefly meeting the others golden eyes with his chocolate ones, before looking back down again.
"S-Sure..."
The two had headed back to the cooperate-in-training coorders, a specific barrack area in the castle for the younger foxes in training. That had been the two's first official meeting, Kai seemed to take a liking to him enough, and would often visit him after hours to hang about.
A feather floated down from god knows where and perched itself lightly on Bingo's nose, causing him to sneeze softly, a shiver running down the scientists spine.
He'd hit the ground painfully, yelping out as he did. The fox that'd shoved him laughed along with his friend, they began taunting the twelve year old, mocking his name in a sing-song voice as one of them kicked him in the stomach. He heard someone shout followed by quick footsteps, the two bullies suddenly paled, both darting away from the scene as a black figure skidded to a stop in front of him.
kai picked up a rock and tossed it into the air, the next moment he teleported it and it hit one of the boys in the back of the head, knocking him down with a cry of pain.
The midnight vulpine turned to his friend, kneeling down as he reached out a hand to help him up. Bingo hid his face behind his arm as he tried to wipe away his tears, then flinched as dirt rubbed against his face from his now dirty sleeve.
"You really shouldn't let them push you around like that, it isn't very befitting of someone who's preparing to become the next royal scientist."
The golden fox didn't respond, looking down at his feet as he felt Kai place his hand on his shoulder.
"Come on, we'll go to the barracks and get you cleaned up, then you can watch my last hour of training!"
Bingo felt a small smile cross his lips, he had his arms folded on his desk, head resting on them. He breathed lightly in his sleep, as the final memory began to play out in front of him.
"No! Are you crazy!?"
Bingo hissed, his fur was frazzled and he could feel the beginnings of a headache forming. Kai rolled his eyes dramatically, crossing his arms as he deadpanned back at his friend, his usually bored seemingly-emotionless look on his face.
"Don't you want to be free? Starria is literally offering us a chance at true freedom! Surely you don't want to stay here forever."
The black fox growled softly, aggregated at being berated and scolded by one of his closet friends. He only wanted them to be able to live freely together, why was that so hard for the scientist to understand?
"I should've know something was up when I noticed you going into the dungeon and not returning for hours! How do you think Andre will react when he finds out you're going to try to usurp the throne!? Honestly Kai, I thought you were smarter then that, I never thought you'd let the wiles of a female get to you!"
Kai flinched at the small outburst, a pang of hurt hitting his soul at the scientists words.
"I-It's not like that!"
He defended, Bingo crossed his arms as well and turned up his nose, eyes closed as he hissed out his next words.
"I'm disappointing in you, get out of my room and don't talk to me again, you'll be lucky if I don't report you immediatly to Andre."
Kai grit his teeth hard, ears pulling back in rage as his pupils dilated, a few moments passed and the Gojian sighed, walking past Bingo as he opened the door and headed out.
"I'll miss you, Bingo."
The silent bonk of the door closing was all to real to have been apart of the dream, Bingo's eyes shifted open lazily as he scanned the room. He suddenly bolted up in his seat as he noticed the black furred figure standing in front of the now locked door, an stern look on his face as a hint of anger flashed accross his golden eyes.
"K-Kai!"
Bingo squeaked as he reached for his dagger, clumsily knocking it off of the desk as he scrambled for it.
"N-No hard feelings?"
The golden fox laughed nervously when he realized he could not find his blade, Kai's expression darkened as the air slowly grew more tense.
"I'm not here for revenge."
Kai finally said, biting his lip as he stared directly into the scientists chocolate colored eyes. Hearing that Bingo let out a sigh of relief, then confusion painted his features.
"Er... Then, why are you here?"
He asked, shifting nervously as the black vulpine approached him. Kai placed his hands on the desk, the sudden thud causing Bingo to flinch, then Kai leaned in very closely and whispered.
"I'd have hoped you'd changed your views since the last time we spoke?"
Bingo swallowed as the room suddenly became a few degrees hotter, being anti-social the scientist wasn't exactly used to people being up in his face like this.
'I-I um... I, er..."
Kai rolled his eyes, a serious look on his face.
"We're here to defeat Garuda once and for all, Mark will claim the throne soon, and when he does-"
Kai leaned in a bit more, their noses now touching lightly.
"-Any cooperates or hawks who retain their loyalty to that bastard, will either be banished, or executed."
Bingo felt a shiver run down his spine, neither of those things sounded especially intriguing to him, if he did say so himself. Kai shifted his weight to wrap one arm around Bingo in a very awkward hug-type fashion, leaning into the other's shoulder as he breathed into his ear.
"I myself would certainly hate to see you be harmed, but as it stands, I follow Mark, and if I am ordered to kill you-"
The Gojian bit the scientists ear tip lightly, causing Bingo to squirm.
"-I will not hesitate."
With that, Kai pulled away, a small smirk forming on his face, his golden eyes locking with the other's chocolate ones as Bingo felt another shiver run down his spine.
"K-Kai..."
"It's your choice, Bingo. Either give up your loyalty and join us in the rebellion, or succumb to some horrible fate forever knowing that you had a choice to stop it."
There was silence for a little while as Bingo considered his options, his attention was only brought back to the black fox in front of him when the other cleared his throat.
"Either way, you will not interfere with Marks assassination."
"Huh?"
Bingo questioned, the look in Kai's eye gave him the idea that the black fox had something else entirely planned from what he was assuming, but it was still kinda weird and Bingo felt he had to question it.
"But... Then you'd get all of his power, and become invincible!"
"BINGO."
Kai practically shouted, neither of them noticing the light shift outside the door.
"If you ever again insinuate that I'd kill the one of the only people who's ever treated me like an actual fox, I will re-consider revenge."
It had been said angrily, but the scientist did pick up on the small glint of humor in the black vulpine's eyes. That sentence could be taken two ways to anyone who knew the two as well as they knew each other... Bingo gulped.
"Er.. Um... O-Okay, fine."
The golden furred scientist sighed as he finally agreed to his friends plans, it had been a little over two years since they'd last seen each other, after all. The memory of that night always left a sour feeling in the vulpine's gut, he looked up at Kai again and smiled softly. Kai returned the smile, his features softening.
"Just head out when the sun starts to set, only pack what you need, keep to yourself, and head to the rebel camp in the swamps a few miles from here. Explain to them that you were sent by me and Mark, they will let you in."
Kai turned and headed towards the door, looking back at Bingo one last time. He didn't say anything as they locked eyes again, he only winked, then left the room, leaving the scientist alone with his thoughts.
Epilogue
That had been the last time they spoke until after king Garuda was defeated, and Mark had claimed the throne. Kai had kept his promise and visited Bingo at the rebel camp a day or so after, that night they had fallen asleep wrapped in each others arms... There was still much Kai and his group had to do however, and Bingo had to stay behind at the camp while they did those things, eventually it was safe for all of the rebel camps to join the main six at the castle, Bingo immediatly finding Kai in the library and the two spending the rest of the hours of the day catching up. Life was good, it seemed, and Bingo couldn't help but feel incredible amounts of happiness at the path he'd eventually chosen to take.
The End.
