Hollybranch snarled at the fox inside the nursery. Sagenose and Tabbyfur were beside her. Sagenose scratched the fox's muzzle.
"Attack!" Hollybranch heard a cat yowl and the den filled with GrayClan warriors. They started attacking the fox. Tabbyfur and Hollybranch huddled in the corner of the den with their kits and Sagenose continued to fight. When the fox fled, the warriors left the nursery. Hollybranch saw the wounds all over Sagenose.
"I have to take you to the medicine den." Tabbyfur meowed and started to lead Sagenose out of the den.
"No!" Sagenose hissed at Tabbyfur. Then Sagenose collapsed and Tabbyfur ran out of the den to get Beechfoot. Beechfoot came back with Tabbyfur and a couple warriors came in. Beechfoot looked at Sagenose on the ground and used his paw to close her eyes.
"Is she dead?" Hollybranch asked Beechfoot and he nodded. The warriors carried Sagenose to the middle of the camp for people to sit vigil with her.
"Will you watch my kits so I can sit vigil for a bit?" Tabbyfur asked her.
"Sure." Hollybranch meowed.
Nighteve came in the nursery and Hollybranch's kits crawled all over her.
"You okay? I heard that Sagenose died." Nighteve meowed.
"I'll be fine." Hollybranch meowed staring at the nursery wall. Pondstream and his apprentice, Elderpaw, came in the den and gave Hollybranch, her kits, and Tabbyfur's kits a poppyseed to calm them after the traumatic experience they went through earlier in the day. They also left a seed for Tabbyfur when she got back.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the high sand mound for a clan meeting." Graystar yowled. All the cats went to the clan meeting. Hollybranch and Tabbyfur, who had came back from sitting vigil for Sagenose, sat at the entrance to the nursery while their kits played together.
"We have lost a member of our clan." Graystar began. "We shall sit vigil for Sagenose tonight. In the meantime, we have some apprentices to name." All the cats looked at each other in wonder. There weren't any apprentices that were six moons old.
"Ashkit, you will now be known as Ashpaw. Your mentor will be Smokehaze. Briarkit, you will now be known as Briarpaw. Your mentor will be Tigerstripe. Crowkit, you will now be known as Crowpaw. Your mentor will be Pebblehill. Foxkit, you will now be known as Foxpaw. Your mentor will be Icyriver. Saffronkit, you will now be known as Saffronpaw. Your mentor will be Wavetail. Zenithkit, you will now be known as Zenithpaw. I will be your mentor." Hollybranch's kits had already run out of the nursery. They touched noses with their mentors.
"I won't allow them to be apprentices." Hollybranch meowed. "They aren't six moons yet."
"I don't care. If we're going to take over DawnClan, we need to have more warriors and apprentices." Graydawn meowed forcefully.
"But that's against the warrior code!" Trouttail hissed.
Graydawn had amusement in her eyes. "You think I care about the warrior code?" She hissed. "I took over a whole clan."
Hollybranch couldn't believe her sister.
"Codebreaker!" Cats in the clearing snarled, although there were a few cats who looked like they enjoyed taking over other clans.
"Silence!" Graystar yowled. She teeth were bared and her fur was fluffed up.
"Graystar." Pheonixblaze meowed. "I am VERY disappointed in you." Pheonixblaze and Smallfoot were glaring at her.
"At least you're finally paying attention to me." Graystar snarled. "Lionclaw!" Graystar spoke to Lionclaw softly so no other cat could hear. Then Lionclaw talked to Tigerstripe and Tigerstripe and Lionclaw moved closer to Pheonixblaze and Smallfoot. Hollybranch guessed that Graystar had told them to watch her parents closely.
"Snakepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code?" Graystar asked Snakepaw.
"I do."
"You will now be known as Snakestripe. Podpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code?"
"I do."
"You will now be known as Podlight." Graystar meowed and dismissed the clan. Hollybranch made a plan, but she would need help.
Hollybranch raced through the trees alongside her mate, and clan mates that had agreed to help her. Half of the patrol of the plan had went to MoonClan. Hollybranch's patrol was heading to DawnClan. When they go there, they ran into the camp.
"We need to speak to Pinestar!" Hollybranch yowled. Cats gave her dirty looks. But the deputy took her to Pinestar's den.
"What do you want?" Pinestar asked
"Graystar is going to attack you and take over your clan!" Hollybranch meowed. "MoonClan needs to come to your camp to help you."
"Okay, I will let them help. I wouldn't put anything past Graystar. Pinestar meowed. One he said that, MoonClan came marching into the DawnClan camp.
"We heard you need some help." Cinderstar, the leader of MoonClan meowed.
"You both need help." Hollybranch meowed. "If GrayClan took over DawnClan, MoonClan would have been next." Cinderstar and Pinestar nodded. Hollybranch told them about her plan. They got their elders and queens and kits to a safe spot where GrayClan wouldn't find them. Then Hollybranch heard the battle call of GrayClan.
"They're coming!" Pinestar yowled and warriors of MoonClan, DawnClan, FadedClan, and SeaClan lined up ready to fight for their lives and their freedom. Hollybranch had made sure that the warriors fighting for GrayClan that didn't like Graystar would fight on her side. There were few warriors that would fight for Graystar once they all gave in to fighting for the other clans.
Hollybranch made her way to Graystar. Graystar was standing in front of Pheonixblaze. They were hissing at each other.
"I can't believe I kitted a cat like you." Pheonixblaze hissed.
"You don't deserve to live!" Graystar snarled and bite hard into Pheonixblaze's throat.
"No!" Hollybranch yowled as Pheinixblaze dropped to the ground, dead. Hollybranch padded up to Graystar. "How dare you!" Hollybranch hissed at her sister. Hollybranch leapt onto Graystar and rolled her over. Then she sunk her claws into Graystar's throat and slid her claws down through Graystar's belly from her throat so that she kept losing lives one after another. Graystar lost all her lives.
"The battle is over! Graystar is dead!" Hollybranch yowled.
Holly will save the fallen clan….
